Lost in Translation: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack album to the 2003 film Lost in Translation, directed by Sofia Coppola. The soundtrack was supervised by Brian Reitzell and was released on September 9, 2003, through Emperor Norton Records. It contains five songs by Kevin Shields, including one from his group My Bloody Valentine. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include Air, Death in Vegas, Squarepusher, Phoenix and the Jesus and Mary Chain. 'Muchas Gracias' is a posthumous compilation of American stoner rock pioneers Kyuss, whose line-up contained future Queens Of The Stone Age founders Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri. Although subtitled 'The Best Of', it actually contains very few of the band's most recognisable songs - only five of it's fifteen tracks are taken from their various studio albums, with the remainder being B-sides, rarities and live tracks from Hamburg. Lovelock's lyrics exude more optimism than on previous LPs and this peaks with 'Big World', a declaration of love to his beloved planet Earth. There is also room for his usual biting social commentary. Trouble Will Find Me, The National’s new album will be released on 4AD. This is the sixth studio album from the Brooklyn band, and follow-up to their critically and commercially successful 2010 album, High Violet. The 13-track set is the most self-assured collection of songs produced by The National in its 14-year career. In an interview with UK’s Uncut Magazine, front man Matt Berninger described the songs as more “immediate and visceral” than their previous work. Trouble Will Find Me possesses a directness, a coherency and an approachability that suggests The National are at their most confident. After a 22-month tour following the release of High Violet the band returned home. Regardless of plans to wait to record new music for another year or two, guitarist Aaron Dessner began working on sketches of new songs that the other members were too inspired by to not fully realize. Matt confesses, “For the past ten years we’d been chasing something, wanting to prove something. And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we’d finally gotten there. Now we could relax - not in terms of our own expectations but we didn’t have to prove our identity any longer.” The results are simultaneously breakthrough and oddly familiar, the culmination of an artistic journey that has led The National both to a new crest and, somehow, back to their beginnings - when, says Aaron, “our ideas would immediately click with each other. It’s free-wheeling again. The songs on one level are our most complex, and on another they’re our most simple and human. The group features Ian MacKaye, his Fugazi bandmate Joe Lally, and his Evens bandmate Amy Farina. On this self-titled debut each of the musicians share singing responsibilities. The lead track, Clean Kill, is a deceptively warm-sounding song about political corruption. It’s a clean kill, but it’s not clean, the band members sing in unison on the chorus. It’s unmistakably the work of Ian MacKaye, probably closer to The Evens than to any of his other projects, but with a bit more of that Fugazi-esque grit in the mix. It’s a very cool first track. Dear friends we are really happy to announce the release of the 5th album of The Drain On The Balcony. The band was announced as the best acoustic punk band of Solihul, in the past, and they are the 1st band of the indie legend, and our dearest friend Rocker (Steph Wood). They are active, on part time basis since 1977. We are really proud for this release, and it is the best way to close the year! This is their 2nd release for our label, including the sold out 7" vinyl Trully, Deeply, Madly. It includes 12 tracks, some about politics, like "Tears of Rage" and "A Short History of Modern Britain" and some about love like the heartbreaker "Across the Sea". Commercial Album is an album released by art rock group the Residents in 1980. It is commonly considered a follow-up to their 1978 album Duck Stab/Buster & Glen, in that it retains the former album's pop-oriented song structures. The album contains 40 songs, each lasting exactly one minute - a deliberate allusion to Top 40 mainstream radio. The album's liner notes state that, to form a complete pop song, tracks from the album should be played three times in a row. The album features a number of guest musicians, notably drummer Chris Cutler and guitarist Fred Frith of the recently disbanded Henry Cow. The credits mention Frith as an "Extra-Hard Working Guest Musician." Frith told author Cole Gagne that he recorded parts for around 25 tracks and was later told by a band member that he appeared on at least 15 of the released cuts, but that he could only identify himself on three tracks where he played bass. Other guests are credited under pseudonyms, such as Andy Partridge of XTC (as "Sandy Sandwich") and Lene Lovich (as "Mud's Sis"); Brian Eno and David Byrne appear on the album uncredited. As a promotional stunt, the Residents purchased 40 one-minute advertising slots on San Francisco's most popular Top 40 radio station at the time, KFRC, such that the station played each track on the album over the course of three days. This prompted an editorial in Billboard magazine questioning whether the act was art or advertising. Issued with a folded 12" glossy printed inlay featuring the song lyrics on the inner. The Queen Is Dead spent 22 weeks on the UK Albums Chart, reaching number two. It reached number 70 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA in late 1990. In 2020, Rolling Stone ranked The Queen Is Dead 113th on its updated list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". When The Smiths recorded their famous debut album they first had Troy Tate as a producer. They weren't entirely pleased with the final production, so they re-recorded the album with John Porter. The story of The Troy Tate Sessions is legendary among fans of The Smiths. The Smiths had recorded 14 songs with producer Troy Tate in the summer of 1983, 13 of which were supposed to become their debut album, seemingly titled “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle”. Disagreements arose regarding the sound production, and The Smiths end up going to John Porter, who produced from scratch what is considered the first official Smiths album, the self-titled “The Smiths”.
