British rockabilly combo The Krewmen had several distinct phases during the 1980s; beginning in 1982 as a rockabilly trio, they moved in a blues direction for their first 45s and after temporarily disbanding, reformed as a psychobilly quartet for this sought-after debut LP. Songs like “Night Of The Living Dead,” “Wild Dogs Of Zorberon” and “Hell Train” have a delicious B-movie aesthetic and “Don’t Give A Toss” and “Guy Fawkes” are keen Brit takes on the form. A must-have for Cramps and Meteors fans, and all psychobilly devotees. (Radiation Records)

Forming in 1983 from the ashes of the Attack (more on them at a later date), Krieg Kopf made a name for themselves in the New York hardcore scene self-releasing two cassette albums and playing constant gigs around they city, Long Island, and beyond. The band eschewed the metal trappings that were slowly creeping into the New York hardcore sound, instead playing a simple-yet-effective brand of full-throttle punk that perfectly captures the speed and aggression of American hardcore in the 1980s. They recorded two album-length cassettes – 1984's "Passen Sie Auf Es Ist" cassette and 1986's self-titled "red tape" – and in between made their sole vinyl appearance with the track "Warhead" on the Big City Records "One Big Crowd" compilation LP. 1987 saw Krieg Kopf entering the studio to produce a full-length record, but the band dissolved before the recording was completed and the session remained unmixed until 2019. This LP collects 19 studio tracks from the two cassette albums and the LP sessions, plus one live track recorded at CBGB (where else?). Also included is a 12"x36" full-color poster insert and an iron-on transfer of the band's original t-shirt logo so you can make your very own Krieg Kopf shirt. Pressing of 500 copies. Kriegshög is a raw hardcore/d-beat punk band from Tokyo, Japan. This 7" EP was released in 2008 by Hardcore Survives. "Re-release of their debut EP with new artwork and one extra song. One of the most amazing bands in recent times and one of the hottest new bands from Japan at the moment. The original sold out instantly in February 2008. Here is what MRR hat to say about the original version: I am almost left speechless on how fucking good this record is. the ultra-hardcore brutal legion needs to maim and murder to get this record ‘cuz it fucking kills an I heard it is already long gone. ok, what does it sound like, you may ask? driving, fist-pumping hardcore with loads of distortion, ferocious drumming, and vocals that drive right through my skull. side one paints a picture for you by having some war-time sample – ya know, gunfire and commotion followed by a sic-year-old girl’s blood-curdling scream – then in comes the audio assault. killer!” – (Martin Sorrondeguy, Maximum Rocknroll No. 300). • Two-song flexi from this much-hyped New York band which preserves the two tracks from their recent promo cassette on a slightly more permanent format. It’s easy to see why people respond so strongly to Krimewatch, because they take a tried and true sound—their music has a very similar combination of primitiveness and power as early Agnostic Front—and update it with lyrical content and a visual aesthetic that reflects the political and social priorities of the (lowercase) youth of today. I know there are a lot of haters out there who don’t think this band “deserves” the attention they’ve gotten based on their limited output (I think these two songs bring their full discography up to about 7 minutes in length), but I really couldn’t care less about that debate. There’s an undeniable spark here, and while it’s hard for me to point out what, precisely, elevates this band above the legions with a similar approach, it’s obvious that a lot of other people hear it too. • Kronstadt Uprising took their name from the uprising at the Kronstadt Naval Base in 1921. Lenin referred to the incident as “the flash that lit up reality better than anything else”. Formed in Southend-On Sea, Essex in 1981, Kronstadt Uprising survived six turbulent years with many members coming and going. However, far from being a negative factor, it produced a very stimulating and creative environment that lead to an ever evolving musical style that can be heard on this CD. Founder member Steve Pegrum was encouraged by the self-empowerment message and ethos of punk rock. In 1979 he acquired a drum kit and formed several punk bands. By 1981 the scene was starting to fragment. The area of punk that now interested Steve was that which stayed true to the original DIY ethic and this developing scene encouraged Steve to form Kronstadt Uprising. By November 1981 the band were ready to record. They recorded nine tracks and sent the tape to Crass who decided to use ‘Receiver Deceiver’ on Bullshit Detector Vol. 2, released in September 1982. Also in 1982 the band recorded ‘The Unknown Revolution’ EP under the production of John Loder and Derek Birkett at Southern Studios for Spiderleg Records. The record was eventually released a year later. Late 1983/1984 saw the band move away from the confines of the current punk scene and concentrate on writing new material. However, after three years various members felt they had progressed as far as they could and in March 1984 they played their final concert in London. In the Summer of 1984 Steve decided he wanted to continue playing, so a new Kronstadt Uprising emerged with a totally new line-up. In April 1985 they recorded the ‘Part Of The Game’ EP for local Dog Rock Records. The band continued to gig and increased their fan base, but diversifying music tastes within the band took their toll and they eventually decided to call it a day in 1987. Always true to punk, but never happy being genericised or put into any kind of musical straightjacket, this CD shows the ever-evolving Kronstadt sound. Limited to 300 copies, the 15 tracks feature both singles, their Bullshit Detector Vol. 2 appearance and seven studio recordings including one previously unreleased, packaged with a 12″ x 12″ insert with previously unseen photos and a detailed history from founder member Steve Pegrum. Label: Overground Records
  • Official reissue of the band’s cult demotape 1984 originally titled “När varje steg är ett snedsteg” (literally translated “When every step is a misstep”)… for the first time on vinyl! 18 songs of intense, energy-driven Swedish hardcore, still sounding fresh and highly entertaining to this day. Formed in 1982 in the small Sundsvall area suburb called Timra, KRUNCH were taking the best elements of early ’80s Scandinavian raw punk and refining them into a powerful and instantly catchy blend all their own, combined with a sense of humor very much related to their area. If you’re wondering how we came up with the idea of reissuing this killer demo, it’s the result of a chat with Rich Walker (Sore Throat, Solstice) about what are the best demotapes from the 80s that are undiscovered classics and have not yet received a due vinyl edition… Completely remastered from the band’s archival tapes. Comes with a replica of the original cassette j-card as insert. Solid black vinyl limited to 250 copies Label: F.O.A.D.

KURRAKÄ | self titled | LP

Original price was: €12.00.Current price is: €6.00. incl. tax
A trio from Texas who build on the foundation of good old anarcho punk, but are adding a thrashing Spanish hardcore flavor to the mix. The overall feel I get is that this is pretty dark and gloomy, but sharp in it’s delivery – making it very interesting. Influences range from d-beat to death rock to anarcho punk, and it’s all there in the final result. It’s hard, it’s bouncy, it’s pissed, it’s hopeful… 10 tracks.
"I’ve reviewed a lot of great records over the last few years, but I feel guilty as hell to come up with this review just now. KURRAKÄ’s self-titled LP was released in 2014 by Trabuc Records and I have tons of reasons to love this band and record. In these ten songs we’ve been trailed off in a complete pandemonium of raw aggression by a three piece all-female bearers of chaos coming from Austin, TX.
The fierce vocals of Dru Molina (also in Criaturas) rip and rage in the Crudos school of thought, while the dark deathrock overtones remind me of the witty macabre of my all time favorite Rudimentary Peni. Lyrically the trio is screaming to the moon and casting spells about strength and women, shadows and spirits, blood and passion, chaos and freedom… Add to that the seething mass of buzzing raw punk guitars, pounding d-beat drumming and chaos magick symbolism, and you’ll have a masterpiece of an obscure hardcore punk record. I would love to get this on a 12″ LP (it’s been pressed on 400 copies in black vinyl and 100 copies in purple) and totally recommend you to check out not only Kurrakä’s recordings prior to their LP but also their fellow peers like Criaturas, Vaaska, and Impalers. Time Will Fuse Its Worth is Kylesa's third full-length album, released in 2006. The Savannah, Georgia-based Kylesa are, fundamentally, a metal group, but they are otherwise difficult to categorize: elements of hardcore punk, psychedelic stoner rock, technical speed metal, and good old-fashioned Black Sabbath sludge appear in their music. Also, with a front line consisting of three very different singers instead of a single focal point, Kylesa have a musical variety lacking from many of their more monochromatic peers. Kylesa formed in Savannah in 2001, taking their unusual name from "kilesa mara," what Buddhist teachings term demons of defilement and delusion. Guitarist and singer Phillip Cope and bassist Brian Duke were former members of the Savannah grindcore act Damad, which had released two albums in the '90s; the original lineup was completed with the addition of guitarist and singer Laura Pleasants and drummer Brandon Baltzley. After the release of a single and a split EP with Memento Mori, sessions for Kylesa's debut album were tragically cut short when Duke died during an epileptic seizure. Replacing Duke with bassist and singer Corey Barhorst, the band completed its self-titled debut, released in late 2002. More singles and a placeholder EP, 2004's No Ending 110 Degree Heat Index, followed before Kylesa signed with the indie metal label Prosthetic Records and released their second proper album, To Walk a Middle Course, in 2005. Following the release of that album, Baltzley left the group, replaced by a pair of drummers, Jeff Porter and Carl McGinley. Kylesa's third album, Time Will Fuse Its Worth, was released on Halloween 2006, followed by Static Tensions in 2009. The following year, Kylesa dove even deeper into the psychedelic waters they'd been exploring with Spiral Shadow, which arrived on Season of Mist. The trend continued on their more melodic and expansive sixth album, 2013's Ultraviolet. But Cope and Pleasants never stopped writing. They stockpiled riffs, melodies, and production ideas before embarking on a grueling bout of touring that would last into 2014. When the pair reentered the studio, it was with new drummer Carl McGinley. They delved into their stash for source material. In July of 2015, they announced the imminent release of the album The Exhausting Fire with first single "Lost and Confused." Recorded at the Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina and produced by Cope, the set compiled and compounded virtually every sound that Kylesa had explored on earlier records as well as some new ones. The Exhausting Fire was issued on October 2. - Stewart Mason, Rovi Label: Heavy Psych Sounds Records
