Legendary Welsh anarchist punk band Icons of Filth was formed in Cardiff at the end of the 70s, having been known as Mock Death and Atomic Filth in earlier line-ups. This blistering debut, culled from demos laid in September 1982, was a cassette-only release—the first issue on the Mortorhate label, run by fellow political punks, Conflict. Over clamorous drumrolls, jagged guitar and super-charged bass, frontman Stiggy Smeg spits lyrics fighting against the system, championing animal welfare and a vegetarian lifestyle. The Last Words were an Australian punk rock group formed in Sydney in 1977 by Malcolm Baxter (vocals), Andy Groome (guitar), Mick Smith (bass guitar) and ex-the Saints' Jeffrey Wegener (drums). Baxter, Groome and Smith had been living in suburban, Liverpool when they met Wegener. Wegener left soon after formation and Smith exited before the end of the year. Their debut single, "Animal World" (March 1978), was recorded by the two remaining members with Baxter on lead vocals and drums and Groome on guitar and bass guitar and it was co-written by the pair. Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described how, "[it] was a poorly recorded, self-produced effort." Baxter and Groome were joined by Ken Doyle (drums) and Leigh Kendall (bass) to re-record "Animal World", which was re-issued in February 1979 via Wizard Records. Bob Short of Kill Your Pet Puppy, described the label's rationale for signing the group, "As glam faded they desperately looked around for their chunk of the next big thing. If you were looking for an unsigned contender, the Last Words ticked off all their boxes. Authentically working class punk with a firm grip on traditional pop sensibility, Wizard rushed them into the studio and did the business properly." The Last Words relocated to London and were signed to Rough Trade Records. Doyle remained in Australia and was replaced by local musician, John Gunn on drums. Rough Trade used the Wizard Records version for another re-issue of "Animal World", which appeared in the United Kingdom in October 1979. It reached No. 8 in the Alternative Charts.[citation needed] Their next two singles, "Today's Kidz" (February 1980) and "Top Secret" (August), were followed by their debut album, The Last Words (December 1980). Although it contained a cover version of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" and was produced by Adrian Sherwood; it did nothing to lift the band out of its relative obscurity. The group disbanded with Baxter returning to Australia. In December 1979 Kendall had played guitar on a four-track EP, Punks Are the Old Farts of Today (Rock-O-Rama Records RRR 001) by German punk group, Vomit Visions, which were led by Erik Hysteric (p.k.a. Erich Knodt). A recording, by Hysteric, of a gig by the Last Words at London University in March 1981, as support to Killing Joke remains unreleased. After the Last Words broke up, Hysteric's backing band, the Esoterics, had Groome on guitar and bass guitar, Kendall on bass guitar, guitar and vocals, and Gunn on vocals. They were joined by Vomit Visions drummer, Dieter Krist, and appeared on Hysteric's album, Drive You Crazy (1981), via Wasted Vinyl Records. It includes the track, "Frag Mich Warum", which is a German language cover version of the Last Words' "Wondering Why", and is sung by Kendall. Groome and Kendall also played on three tracks "Life" (Waste 45), "Fool Around" and "(I Wanna Be A) Kid Forever" (Waste 9) recorded before the album, which were released as Eric Hysteric's solo singles in 1982 and 1983. A true must. This is just one of those records you HAVE to hear. The Spanish punk band. This is their 1986 sophomore LP. A great mix of songs about depression, drugs, boredom etc. ranging from slow depressing "Historia Triste", "Cuidado", "Cerebros Destruidos", to the chaotic pogo "De ti Depende", "Anti-Todo", "Haciendo Bobadas" and to the disco (and utterly awesome!) "Matar la Musica". Definitely a classic! Coming from Bilbao in the Basque country of Spain with formidable and impressive contemporaries such as RIP, MG-15, IV REICH and ULTIMO RESORTE, ESKORBUTO still comes out ahead of them all becoming one of the most influential bands ever in Spain and South America. Snotty, nihilistic, misanthropic; these guys really didn't give a fuck. Following the live fast and die style the two definitive members of ESKORBUTO, Jualma and Iosu, overdosed on heroin. The "Eskizofrenia" LP and "Jodiendolo Todo" Demo are also highly, highly recommended. (Bcore Records)

Hailing from Maumee, Ohio, the Necros were one of the first hardcore bands in the U.S.! Consisting of highschoolers Barry Henssler, Andy Wendler, and Todd Swalla, the Necros formed way back in 1979. Meatmen vocalist and scenester Tesco Vee soon took the band under his wing, and within a year they were at the forefront of a scene cantered around Detroit, Michigan. If the Misfits were one of the greatest punk bands then Walk Among Us released in 1982 is perhaps one of the greatest records in punk history. While Static Age and Earth AD showcased a band searching for an identity like a vampire for its next victim, Walk Among Us is almost sheer perfection. With a solidified lineup, fully grown-out devillocks (the Misfits trademark long spike of hair in the front) and the stabilizing presence of the somewhat pedestrian but agile arthur googy on drums, uber-misfit Glenn Danzig was finally able to match his zombie-elvis to a worthy musical foil. From the manic opening of 20 Eyes to the monster football chorus of Braineaters, there is nothing less than a sublime moment on this album from start to finish. Legendary Chicago hardcore punks Life Sentence began their self-titled debut in l985 with vocalist/bassist Joe Losurdo, drummer Tom O’Connor, guitarist/vocalist Eric Brockman and vocalist Ray Morris. Morris quit before the record was finished and the band became a trio with Losurdo taking over the lead vocals duties with occasional help from Brockman. Classic debut album by original San Francisco punk band led by Alejandro Escovedo (future Rank & File) and Jennifer Miro (Debbie Harry's West Coast counterpart). Although the Nuns ruled the San Francisco punk scene in the late 70s, courted by major labels and selling out shows at San Francisco's hottest clubs, by the time the original band broke up they still had not recorded enough material for a full-length album. Thankfully, however, the band minus Escovedo came together once more for the sake of recording this album before calling it quits. Over the years Jennifer kept the band alive in different forms until her premature death in 2011. This classic slice of '77 punk rock, recorded in just 20 hours in May 1980, is the greatest testimony to the their original line up. (Radiation Records)

Available for the first time since 1994. Some of the best material from both bands extensive catalogue. This time on a 12' format. DOOM was a band which were pivotal in the rise of crust punk and originated from Birmingham. Doom continued with different guitarist, most notably with Dave Talbot who co-founded UK doom metal band SOLSTICE with SORE THROAT’s vocalist Rich Walker, but did not settle with four members for long playing numerous gigs as a three piece,as Pickering turned to vocal and guitar duties. This line up continued until a final split in August 1990. Following the group’s demise Pickering formed Police Bastard, whilst drummer Stick joined ENT then DIRT. This records still sound heavy, fuzzy, dirty and mean as hell!! (Sonarize Records)
