  • Southern Lord Recordings is beyond stoked to unleash the brand new album from visionary metal act, TODAY IS THE DAY. Animal Mother is the bands tenth studio album and is eagerly anticipated by their rabid and very loyal fans. Early this year, TODAY IS THE DAY’s newest lineup was announced, as the foundation of the then unnamed album was taking shape. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Austin welcomed Sean Conkling (Regression, Burn Your Halo, Sprawl) on bass. Since December and January Austin has been painstakingly layering guitars, vocals and more, and as the final sessions for TODAY IS THE DAY’s tenth studio full-length recording, the band happily unveils the name of the impending LP, as Animal Mother. The finished beast is uncompromisingly raw, honest and goes straight for the throat. As per the album title, Austin offers, “Animal Mother means the embodiment of the prophetic gift of the shaman; it is the shaman’s visionary power, which is able to penetrate the past and future.” Early this year the frontman warned the public that the album is “a fifteen-song rampage of bloody carnage fueled by hate, love and vile, raw emotion,” continuing, “I feel it is my finest work to this date. It is the most complex and HEAVY record we have ever made. This is real — no bullshit Protools crap; just pure violent energy and real band songwriting in the middle of the woods in Maine. It lies somewhere between Temple of The Morning Star and In The Eyes of God, and Jeff’s playing is beyond incredible. I was determined to push the limits in complexity, musicianship, and creativity as far as we could and I feel we have put together a record that narrates the horror and pain that we have been living through.” For two and-a-half decades TODAY IS THE DAY has woven Steve Austin’s prophetic observations and noise-soaked chaos through a psychedelic, unique and unmatched battery of heavy styles. The outfit has spawned an incredible discography, forging their way to the forefront of Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse, Blackmarket Activities and many others. The band has pillaged the planet touring with countless acts over the past twenty years, with just a brief list including Motörhead, Morbid Angel, Helmet, Neurosis, The Melvins, Napalm Death, Coalesce, Unsane and Eyehategod. Steve Austin has produced nearly all of TITD’s releases, as well as groundbreaking albums for Lamb Of God, Converge, Deadguy, From Ashes Rise, Anal Cunt, and many others. Austin is featured in the Color of Noise Documentary about Amphetamine Reptile Records, and is currently scoring several independent films. (Southern Lord Records)

Sarabante is a hardcore/crust band from Athens, Greece. “Remnants” is the bands debut release. The band was brought to the attention of Southern Lord by Brad Boatright of From Ashes Rise. This makes perfect sense as Sarabante has a similar burning intensity that can be heard from those legends. One of the primary focal points of the group is their consistent execution of infectious melodies. This cd is limited to 1,000 machine numbered copies. For fiends of: Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, Neurosis. (Southern Lord Recordings)
  • (Shipping: October) Nightmare Logic has taken Power Trip’s classic Exodus-meets-Cro-Mags sound to new places. With hooks and tightness rivaling greats like Pantera or Pentagram and production by the esteemed Arthur Rizk, Nightmare Logic punishes fans not only sonically but with pure songwriting skill. The sophomore release and second on Southern Lord Records, raises the bar and pushes Power Trip to new extremes. Since 2013’s Manifest Decimation, the band admits they’ve not only gotten better at their instruments, but have also reinvented their songwriting process into a more nuanced and clever system. The shift shows on this record and does so without losing any of the aggression so essential to the band. (Southern Lord Records)

  • (Shipping: October) In the early 1980s, Y.D.I. (pronounced: Why-die) put Philadelphia on the map with their ferocious brand of Hardcore. In 1983 they unleashed their debut 7” EP “A Place In The Sun” a blistering nine-track blast of american-hardcore fury. Circa-1985 the band changed musical directions and created filthy, metallic, damaged punk. The “Black Dust” (a concoction of PCP, heroin and formaldehyde) 12”- LP was YDIs’ final recording and a criminally underrated slab of disgusting mayhem. This double vinyl document contains every known recording of the band. Also inside is a 10”x10” full color photo book with tons of never before seen images from the era. (Southern Lord Records)

  • Here's another classic from the early 80's. 'The Violators' was formed in 1981 in New Mills, England and it was a mixture of punks and skins in their line up. In their beiginnings the band sounded very similar to 'Vice Squad' and 'The Expelled'. The band made their debut on the 'A Country Fit For Heroes' 12" in 1981 by 'No Future Records'. The following year they released their first EP titled 'Gangland' followed by 'Summer of 81' in 1982 again by No Future. Few weeks after the release of their second EP, vocalist Helen and guitarrist Coley splited from the band to form their own band call Taboo, but never issued any singles. Meanwhile The Violators have recruited a new vocalist called Louise and guitarist Andy who was formally with "Skin Graft". The second generation of The Violators changed their sound. This time with heavier vocals and songs. The band always kept their clockwork sound, which they are known for. Violators released a few more singles, but never a full length. The band split up in the mid 80's, and marked history with their clockwork images and noises in the punk culture. Mad Butcher Records managed to get the tracks from all of their singles and compilations they appeared and relesead this fantastic LP. (Mad Butcher Records)

Formed within the sound of the Charlton FC terraces, they soon became the success of the Oi music genre, that great sonic punk movement of the eighties. Oi was the perfect antidote to the grim blandness of new wave, and THE BLOOD were it’s major craftsmen. Originally known as Coming Blood, the band first made harmonious noises in 1982, and began their assualt on the establishment, or whoever needed their arses kicked. They soon graduated from the infamous Oi Chartbuster Albums and hit out on their own, looking for victims for their new brand of musical skullduggery. The essence of the band was frivolity, football style anthems and some very provocative lyrics. Their goal was to do everything to wind-up absolutely everyone, which they easily did with great humourous dexterity. With their landmark single, Meglomania, and album, False Gestures For A Devious Public, THE BLOOD shocked Britain with their quips and actions of spendidly good taste. This, their first album, is the recent reissue on Mad Butcher Classics. (Mad Butcher Classics)
