• This is Mjölby, not NY: Sweden's S.O.D. started about the same time with Stormtroopers of Death from Big Apple: Their first recorded material was a demo tape from 1983, they released two ep's, Sound of Disaster (1985) and Speak Swedish or Die (1990, Really Fast) and according to Swedish Punk there is the Stabilitet? ep from 1997 on Hepatit D and Lagar Och förordningar boot ep from 2000, they also appeared in some compilations. This LP compiles their both ep's, Sound Of Disaster 7'' released in 1985 and "Speak Swedish Or Die" 7' 1990 (same sessions as on their first 7", recorded on March 31st, 1985) plus live soundboard recordings (Live At Ultra - Dec./25/1984) Includes an insert. Limited to 180 copies. FFO: Anti-cimex, Discharge, Kuro etc.
  • Unofficial release collecting these two DC bands’ demo tape releases. While Double O and Red C share vaguely similar names and both very much fly under the typical harDCore radar, they’re very different bands. Red C are kind of a quintessential teenage punk band… they can barely play and their songs are very simple and straightforward, but they’re nevertheless really fun. Concurrently with spinning this 12” a few times over the past week or so I’ve also been reading the anthology of XXX zine and it’s amazing to me how young some of the people who participated in the initial explosion of hardcore were. I mean, I’m still playing and listening to this music and I’m 38 years old, but a lot of these kids were 16-18 years old (sometimes even younger!) and while that can show in the lack of sharpness in their playing (as it does on the Red C demo), it also means that they’re able to get across a sense of naive enthusiasm that older, more polished bands simply can’t capture. However, while Red C’s demo is a really interesting document of that whole teenage hardcore band phenomenon, I’d argue that Double O are a legitimately powerful and crucially underrated band, and that’s definitely apparent on their tracks here. While this recording is looser and rawer than their EP (which I really can’t recommend highly enough), what you hear here is already confident and powerful, easily able to stand toe to toe with any of the best early Dischord bands (excepting, possibly, Minor Threat). While the packaging here certainly leaves something to be desired, the sound quality is on point and given the fact that this LP is the only currently-in-print Double O material I’d argue that it’s worthy of your attention.  Sorry state (Fan Club/Unofficial Release)

  • Poison Arts can be an intimidating to get into because they have a slew of releases, but this compilation gathers up several odds and ends from the band’s discography into a digestible chunk. While not as anthemic as Death Side (with whom Poison Arts shared their guitarist Chelsea), everything seems to click together on these 1989 tracks, showcasing a band that is locked in, channeling their undeniable musical virtuosity into a sound whose intensity matches its complexity. As with a lot of these recent Japanese fan club releases, the packaging is meager but the sound reproduction is very strong. Released on DTK PoisonArts Records Fan Club from Brazil. Limited to 180 copies. This LP compiles Hi-Energy 7" flexi (1985) as well Mystery Temptation 7" (1986) and Hot Rod 7" (1986). • Οι Strawberry Pills κυκλοφορούν το ντεμπούτο album τους “Murder To A Beat”. Κυκλοφορεί σε LP και Digital album από την Inner Ear. TOZIBABE | anthology | LP

    20.00 incl. tax
Slovenian all female hardcore/punk band active during 80's and former in Ljubljana ex-Yugoslavia. This LP compiles the Dežuje 7" from 1986, Hardcore-Ljubljana comp tracks (1985), and the Novi Punk tracks. Includes a double sided insert. Record it cut at 45rpm for best sound. Import from Brazil limited to 150 copies. "Fan club LP compiling Tozibabe’s great 4-song 7” along with their contributions to the Hard-Core Ljubljana and Novi-Rock compilations. I remember when I first heard Tozibabe thinking, “why didn’t I discover this earlier?” The answer is probably sexism (3 women comprised Tozibabe), but regardless of why, I think my impression that they’re vastly under-appreciated is a common one. While Tozibabe is a hardcore band, their sound weaves in elements of goth and post-punk, giving them a creepy and melodic vibe that is totally their own, though it’s not miles away from goth-tinged UK anarcho bands like Part 1 or Vex were doing. Tozibabe’s 4-song EP is an unheralded classic of 80s punk and one of the most unique and worthwhile punk records to come out of Eastern Europe in the 80s. There have been a few reissues over the years (including an official one in 2015), but the compilation tracks are a pleasant bonus. The Hard-Core Ljubljana LP is great all the way through and worth getting on its own, but Tozibabe’s tracks are strong, a little more straightforward and hardcore than the goth-ier EP. There aren’t many frills with this bootleg, but the sound is great, and it’s a nice way to get the tunes in your collection." Sorry State (Hardcore Ljubljana Records)
  • Fagersta, Sweden in the early 80's. A small, bleak industrial town and home to a bunch of punks who were filled with the angst of the forthcoming Apocalypse of 1984 which George Orwell predicted. It was around this time that Kerre (vocals/bass), Micke (guitar) and Hocke (drums) formed a band called Practical Joke (1981-1982), Changing the name to Fear of War in 1982. Their first rehearsals took place in the basement of Hocke’s family home. After only 2 weeks they had their first gig in the nearby city of Skinnskatteberg, armed with only four songs which they repeated over and over again, until the usual bar fight began. Not long after, Hocke left to join Crude S.S. and Ugly Squaws. In his place came Marko. With inter changeable members; Fear of War, Ugly Squaws, Crude S.S. and Bedrövlers all rehearsed in the abandoned apartments called Kottmossen in Fagersta. The “Tour in Finland 1984” included Fear of War, Ugly Squaws, Bedrövlers, Crude S.S., Anti Cimex and the Finnish band Vaurio. Fear of War played with Disorder in Copenhagen at the “Subfestival” in 1987. This was to be their last gig before they split. This is the long awaited official release featuring early studio recordings of this classic Swedish Punk/Hardcore band! 14 tracks in total: 8 from the legendary compilations “The Vikings Are Coming...” and “Afflicted Cries in the Darkness of War”; 4 from the rare original demo and 2 from a previously unreleased 7” EP. • Gatefold with a 11 x 22″ insert and download card. LIFE'S BLOOD were a legendary short lived band from New York City. Formed in 1987, LIFE'S BLOOD Played 20 shows and recorded 2 radio shows, a Demo at Don Fury and one 7" "Defiance" released on Combined Effort Records and appeared on the seminal "NEW BREED" tape comp in 1988. In these short 14 months as band they left an indelible mark on the history of hardcore punk, as their sharp, earnest, and challenging lyrics backed with remarkably sturdy, dissonant and distorted hardcore songs emerged at a time where the focus of Underground hardcore had been blurred by commercialism, crossover and violence. HARDCORE A.D. 1988 Collects 27 songs from their Defiance EP, demo tape, compilation tracks, their post humous split EP WITH STICKS AND STONES, WFMU and WNYU recordings and Live tracks with new liner notes from Guittarist Adam Nathanson, extensive band notes compiled by Bassist Neil Burke with extensive photos and flyers. Mastered at George Horn mastering, with packaging designed by Jack Barfield at Neolithic Print Cartel. The LP comes in a Stoughton tip on gatefold with a 11x22" insert and download card. This is the first time LIFE'S BLOOD's material has been officially available in almost two decades. After LIFE'S BLOOD dissolved Guitarist Adam Nathanson formed BORN AGAINST, bassist Neil Burke was in the initial line Up of BORN AGAINST as well as MENACE DEMENT, SINKING BODY and MEN'S RECOVERY PROJECT, drummer Jon Kricksciun and final LIFE'S BLOOD singer Sean Murphy played in COLLAPSE, and original vocalist Jason O'Toole recently sang for MY RIFLE. Includes coupon for an MP3 download of the album. Big Black was started by Steve Albini in 1982 while he was attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Lungs, the first Big Black release was recorded by Steve on a borrowed 4-track. He played everything on the EP himself - except the sax bleating courtesy of pal John Bohnen and the drums courtesy of Roland. Soon after, Steve recruited Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun) on bass, and Santiago Durango (also Naked Raygun) joined them on guitar. In 1983, together with live drummer Pat Byrne, they recorded the Bulldozer EP. By 1984, the band had done some touring and recorded the Racer X EP and the start of the Il Duce 7”. After that, Jeff returned to Naked Raygun and was replaced by Dave Riley. In 1985, Big Black recorded their first full-length, Atomizer, as well as finishing the Il Duce 7”. Atomizer was released in 1986 along with the release of the Hammer Party compilation CD. In 1987, the Headache EP and Heartbeat 7” were released. That same year, the band recorded and released the 7” of The Model/He’s A Whore as well as their second full-length album, Songs About Fucking. They toured extensively (for Big Black). And they broke up. (Touch And Go Records)
