1919 are a post-punk band formed in Bradford, England in early 1980. Reissued on vinyl for the very first time since its initial release , the classic 1983 album gets a re-master from the band themself's. The Machine LP was heavily inspired by Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, and the theme of alienation is prominent in the band’s oeuvre. If you are a huge fan of deathrock or dark punk--you have to own this--you won't be disappointed! (Restless Empire Records)
  • Their first and "lost" studio album from 1988 year. First time on vinyl. Cold wave/post punk with a little bit Swans influence. 1984 is a legend of Polish new wave / cold wave / punk rock scene. In the 1980s the band used its biting, punk-style irony to depict the totalitarian reality of Polish People’s Republic in its final years, and it was an excellent example of the strength inherent in Polish punk rock / new wave of those times. Besides, if I may put a personal note here – they were one of the most important features in the soundtrack for my punk childhood. Towards the end of the 1980s they seemingly gave up their political image for a more iconoclastic or artistic vision. In a more or less active way, the band has continued for all these years. Throughout the 1980s, despite the numerous recording sessions they managed to release only one 7” and one song on a compilation. It wasn’t until 25 years later that some of the band’s archival sessions saw the light of day, including their demo entitled Why not? (1987), and their iconic album Specjalny rodzaj kontrastu [Special kind of contrast] (1988) (Pasazer Records)
  • Oi/Punk band from Novi Sad, Serbia formed in 1984. Includings stuff from both demos from 1984 and unreleased soundboard live from 1984. All the stuff is taken from original reel and original audio master tapes and mastered in the USA. This limited release includings photos and lyrics. (Rest In Punk Records)
  • Another heavyweight of the English scene released on Dirty Punk Records and certainly one of the best known and best Oi! bands ever. Formed in 1979, THE 4 SKINS have released a lot of songs on compilations that have marked the history of Oi! music like "Oi!" the album", "Strength Thru Oi! "Carry on Oi!" »... as well as some cult 7''s. By adding a few rare titles, we were able to release this double album bringing together the best of the band. Everything is there and everything is essential. No extensions with dirty sounding lives or bad rehearsals in a garage, here is gathered all the best of the 4 SKINS. All in a superb gatefold sleeve with beautiful and rare photos of the band and a history of the songs written by Mark Brennan. A wonder to hold in your hands. Tracklist: 1 Chaos 2 Wonderful World 3 Clockwork Skinhead 4 Evil 5 A.C.A.B 6 I Don't Wanna Die 7 Yesterday's Heroes 8 1984 9 Sorry 10 Evil 11 One Law For Them 12 Brave New World 13 Merry Christmas Everybody 14 Yesterday's Heroes 15 Justice 16 Get Out Of My Life 17 Low Life 18 Bread Or Blood 19 Plastic Gangsters 20 Norman 21 Seems To Me 22 Chaos (Herbert Version) 23 On The Streets Label: Dirty Punk Records – DPR061
  • 'The Good, The Bad & The 4-Skins' is the debut LP - originally released on Secret Records in 1982 - from East End Oi! legends The 4-Skins. Recorded with the first stable line-up after numerous changes, fronted by legendary vocalist Panther (who stepped in after the original singer Gary Hodges' defection), this is violent, political, and as real as Oi! gets, this is one of the absolute classic LPs of the genre. Featuring studio recordings on Side A and amped up live versions of such OI! classics as 'A.C.A.B' or 'Chaos' on Side B. (Radiation Records)

Formed from putrefying remnants of The Germs, The Consumers, The Bags, The Gun Club, and The Screamers among other L.A. punk outfits, 45 Grave were arguably the first American Goth/deathrock band and inarguably one of the best. Fronted by the Exene-meets-Barbarella vocal and visual stylings of Dinah Cancer (still one of the greatest stage names in a punk rock genre full of ‘em), 45 Grave also featured Paul B. Cutler on guitar, Don Bolles on drums, Rob (Ritter) Graves on bass, and Paul Roessler on keyboards, and from that all-star line-up came 1983’s Sleep in Safety, their lone studio release and only recording with the band’s original members. Probably most famous for the first appearance of the horrifyingly graphic, true-crime track “Partytime,” the single version of which was subsequently cut in 1985 and featured on The Return of the Living Dead soundtrack, Sleep in Safety also offered the early MTV track “Evil” and the band “theme song” “45 Grave” among other blandishments for those who like their rock and roll with a side of the macabre. For our Real Gone Music exhumation of this classic record, we have “embalmed” a very special edition, preserving the original album’s gatefold edition complete with lyrics and adding a custom inner sleeve drawn from the band’s very rare “A Tale of Strange Phenomena” press release—purple with black streaks vinyl! Folks have been dying for this one! Side One 1. INSURANCE FROM GOD 2. EVIL 3. PARTYTIME 4. DREAM HITS II 5. SLICE O’ LIFE Side Two 1. 45 GRAVE 2. PHANTOMS 3. VIOLENT WORLD 4. BAD LOVE 5. SURF BAT 6. PROCESSION (Real Gone Music)

It's forty years since the Specials took the pop world by storm with their infectious mix of Ska rhythms and punk attitude. Madness and The Selector followed close on their heels. Within a matter of months the 2-Tone bands had stolen our hearts and conquered the charts with a non-stop procession of unforgettable hits: 'Gangsters', 'A message to you Rudi', 'Too Much too Young', 'The Prince', 'One Step Beyond', 'My Girl', 'Too Much Pressure'... "Your last chance to dance before World War Three," Specials singer Terry Hall called it. An exaggeration of course, but 2-Tone served up the most perfect pop since Trojan reggae dominated the UK charts a decade earlier. And the bands kept coming - Bad Manners, The Beat, The Bodysnatchers. Even Judge Dread came back! Garry Bushell was the first rock writer to see the Specials live, the first to interview Madness and the first to watch the bands attempt to export their magic to the USA. This book is his collected dispatches from the front line during that exciting, exhilarating rise of the rude boys. The Ska, Rock & Mod revival of the late Seventies early Eighties put life and laughs into a politIcally grim UK scene. Journalist Garry Bushell was on the front line, working for Sounds and Dance Craze magazine, and was present to witness all of the critical events. Time for another prime dose of potent, chorus-drenched anarcho-punk from one of its finest modern exponents: A Culture Of Killing return with their third album, bigger and bolder than before with a foreboding sense of deathrock gloom dialed all the way up beyond 11. Their usual array of nods are all present and correct (The Mob, Zounds, The Cure), but this time everything feels… grander? More fully realised? Impressive, given their first two albums have been hoovered up and hailed by those in the know, but maybe we should banish any lingering doubts that the mysterious Italian band might be moving beyond merely echoing the classics and closer to creating a new benchmark for the genre. Look, all of this is a very fancy way of saying that ACOK are pretty fucking great and no one else can touch ‘em right now when it comes to this sort of goth-tinged post-punk. New instrumentation, new ways of relating to each other as a band, new ways of grabbing your attention as a listener and making you want to press the record grooves into your brain and use your nerve endings as a stylus. From new wave-styled Burundi beats and furious call-and-response vocals to dubbed-out grooves, there are new influences that are more than welcome in the band’s sound, but the songs themselves are their finest thus far (‘2 Years’ and ‘The Last Train Home’ are simply magical). It says a lot about this LP that it’ll hold its own with the output of both Crass Records and 4AD; it’s a strong step forward that’ll win ‘em new fans and embolden existing ones to say things like ‘best band in the world right now’ and ‘sell your home to buy a copy if you have to’. Especially if you don’t technically own your home. You get the idea. Is there a Crass-shaped hole in your life that’s been empty since you wore out your copy of ‘Penis Envy’? An itch that only the purest of peace punk can scratch? This is the record for you. I don’t use the word ‘essential’ much but… oh, well, I’ve given the game away there, haven’t I? Get it, get it now. • Packed with first-hand stories and unpolished nuggets, this hefty but very-readable book plots a path through UKHC in the ‘90s as it developed into an underground scene. Focusing on the people; artists, promoters, venues, record labels and fanzines, and following the evolution of the author’s bands, it looks at the intricacies of the post-punk genre and bursts with ‘straight from the horse’s mouth’ hardcore anecdotes that’ll keep you turning the pages. You’ll read about touring and gigs with hundreds of bands, including Green Day, NOFX, Alice Donut, Jailcell Recipes, The BBMFs, Majority Of One, Spermbirds, The Babies Three, Understand, Samiam, Down By Law, Alloy, Hot Water Music, Bob Tilton, Tribute, Discount, Blue Tip, Leiah, Leatherface, Spy Versus Spy, Hunter Gatherer, Dismemberment Plan, Burning Airlines, Piebald and many more. If you were ever in a band, then you’ll recognise and empathise with much of the narrative. And if you’ve wondered what it would be like to tour and release records at the underdog end of the alternative music scene, then this book will take you on an invigorating and enlightening roller-coaster ride. “ ‘A Hardcore Heart’ is an invigorating time capsule, of a period before Instagram, Facebook and MySpace, even before mobile phones, sat navs and Google Maps. It wasn’t easy (nothing worth doing ever is) but we somehow made things happen; we stubbornly battered our dreams into reality and bullishly ignored anyone that told us it couldn’t be done. It was a truly inspirational time, when it seemed anything was possible, and a two-bit hardcore band from a leafy town in Kent could share stages and records with the best the world’s hardcore punk scene had to offer.” Ian Glasper, Author of ‘The Scene That Would Not Die’ “There have been hundreds of books, films and documentaries about punk rock, it’s initial explosion and the impact it had. They all have their merits, but all seem to think it all stopped in 1979. While a lot of the old guard moved on, punk didn’t die, it moved underground and became more pure, more political and much more relevant to a new generation. While those early bands talked the talk, these new kids were walking the walk, punk was now a lifestyle. Like a lot of us, David found himself immersed in this lifestyle, and spells out how he got involved, how it all worked and why it was so intoxicating.” Tony Whatley, Editor of Suspect Device fanzine "A Hardcore Heart is a comprehensive collection of stories narrated by David Gamage, a hardcore punk veteran who shares insights into the '90s UK scene in a brilliant, descriptive, and entertaining way. This book will hold your attention until the last pages and hopefully inspire you to start a band, zine, or record label.” Djordje Miladinovic, Editor of Thoughts Words Action blog The first edition limited printing is 662 pages with colour images and is shipping now. #ahardcoreheart #UKHC #punk #books #DIY #alternative #scene #CouchPotatoes #Joeyfat #Rydell #venues #promoters #fanzines #bands #MVT #MusicVenueTrust  Format Paperback | 662 pages Dimensions 156.00 x 234.00 x 55.00mm | 1,300 gr Publication date November 2022 Publisher Earth Island Books Language English

On this release the band ditched the heavy rock elements of its previous release in favour of influences of f.i. Killing Joke, Bad Brains, Metallica and Crash Worship. This approach brings back the intensity of 'Black Ocean', but with the speed and precision that reminds of the band's metal influences. While there still are a couple of slower/sludgy tunes, some songs are twice as fast as the older material. Comments STORM founding guitarist/vocalist Josh Graham “These songs are much more focused. Even the more ‘epic’ songs are shorter but still accomplish the same journey as the longer songs used to. We’ve ditched the rock elements of the last record and let our early influences of Killing Joke, Bad Brains, Metallica and Crash Worship seep in. Death is raining upon us. Once again the banality of evil is plowing through lives and land. It comes in the shape of man, a mushroom cloud in trousers. What was first an artistic experiment, investigating childhood fears. The dark cloud on the horizon. Looming over us always. Became reality. These six tracks are instruments of terror. Focusing on the inhuman barbarism of humanity. Deafening, blinding, four minute-warnings of heavy electronic mayhem. Programming the synths like Stalin’s organ. Causing radiation sickness. Sonic assault of the mind and body. Hear the siren songs. Sex on red alert. Beware and behave. The Road to Nuclear Holocaust has never been closer. Devastating zynth-slaughter debut LP by Sweden Ä.I.D.S. Six tracks of deafening, blinding, four minute-warnings of heavy electronic mayhem. The original release was the result of international DIY efforts avoiding the narrow-mindedness of the Iron Curtain. It also brought together two of the strongest scenes of the Eastern Bloc - Polish and Yugoslavian. All of the recordings were done in Borut Cine Studio, in Ljubljana, during Abaddon's tour of Yugoslavia. Invited by Peter Barbaric, they also played a couple of shows with bands like Pankrti or U.B.R. The "Wet za wet" LP was then released by New Wave Records from France. Because of this, and also thanks to worldwide tape-traders and the band's appearances on comp. tapes like "Noise Behind the Iron Dustbin" or "Cultural Compost Pit", as well as a bootleg split-tape with Rejestracja, they were quite well-known beyond their home country. In Poland, their regular performances at the Jarocin Festival and appearances on legendary compilations like "Fala" and "Jak punk to punk" established the band as one of the classics of the genre. The LP contains 8 fast, direct, and tight Hardcore Punk ragers and a great roots/dub song called "Ljubljana night." Coming from their Polish/Eastern European perspective, the album's lyrics and artwork expressed a protest against any form of authoritarian power - from the brutality of fascism during WWII and the 1981 revolts in Poland, to more current world problems of the time, like Apartheid in South Africa and the global arms race. In the context of Poland's political climate in the 80s, their lyrics and music were seriously impressive. Mastering for the reissue was done from the original sources by Jarek Smok at Studio As One (Warsaw). The LP features a gatefold cover, an additional booklet with an exclusive interview with Tomasz Dorn, drummer of Abaddon and words from Patrice (New Wave Records) and plenty of rare photos (including the work of Michał Wasążnik - one of the best documenters of 80s punk in Poland). All of the lyrics and the interview come with English translations. One of the most classic releases of Polish Hardcore Punk available again on vinyl! (Warsaw Pact Records)

Originally released in 1985, this is the sole album by Tony Cadenas' own The Abandoned, the band he formed after the Adolescents original break up in 1981. Sounding a lot like Tony's original band but with an heavier Germs influence, and a more metallic, darker, almost Motörhead-esque touch. As long as Adolescents got back on track, right before releasing their mid '80s comeback masterpiece 'Brats In Battalions' this obscure page of California punk rock history got completely forgotten and was never reopened until today. A band that really pushed the boundaries for the time while sticking to their roots, something most bands were not able to do. A must for all California punk rock maniacs out there!

“Pezzi di vetro schizzi di sangue” (translated: pieces of glass, splatters of blood) is the definitive book on Luca Abort, singer of BLUE VOMIT, NERORGASMO, IFIX TCEN TCEN, collecting all his stunning drawings, paintings, graffiti, comics, band photos.. A maniacal collection of images, the result of a project developed over 10 years about one of the most nihilistic and emblematic characters of the Italian punk scene between the 1980s and 1990s, passed away too young following his omen “I’ll exalt myself with the most sublime death”.. A personality of great intelligence, surly and provocative, Luca has created an enormous amount of drawings, paintings, graffiti, tables, record covers, flyers and other graphic artworks. This book collects them meticulously: almost 300 full colored color pages disclosing a huge amount of never seen before material (taken from Luca’s personal archives made available to his mother’s courtesy) also including rare photos and detailed discographies of BLUE VOMIT, NERORGASMO and IFIX TCEN TCEN. 'High voltage' was the first chance america had to glimpse the raw power of Australia's best hard rock outfit. From their earliest days, lead guitarist angus young, a spastic dwarf-like riff-monger who wore nothing but traditional schoolboy attire, led this band of hooligans with gleeful perversity and balls-out ambition. The group's intent is perfectly clear from the disc's opening power chords: to distill rock and mutate the blues down to its barest essentials in a pulverizing whomp. Riding over the top of the battering rhythm section is the all-too-true sneer of vocalist bon scott, who brings sexist anthems to a previously unachieved high (or low, depending on your reference point). • The hard rock world got a close-up view of the power of ac/dc with the band's first live offering, if you want blood, you've got it. Although the Australian rockers had three prior studio releases of undeniable crunch under their belt, it was this live document that captured the band in all its' chomping power chord glory. distilling the blues and rock 'n' roll down to its barest structures of guitar/bass/drums leaves little room for error. Without heavy production techniques, keyboards, tape loops (or even an effect pedal, for that matter), the band takes to the stage with only bare-knuckle riffs and a floor shaking 4/4 beat. and shake the floor they did. Printed laminated inner sleeve with images and liner notes. All tracks recorded live during 1978 world tour. Mixed at Albert Studios Sydney Australia. With ac/dc's third release, powerage, the band was dispensing even heftier ammo from their hook-laden cartridge belt. With the rock-steady rhythm section pounding out 4/4 beats as if it were overtaking a small country, guitarists (and brothers) angus and malcolm young trade towering riffs that belie their pint-sized physical stature. The real change on powerage is a noted improvement in songwriting skill. The six-minute "down payment blues" actually has a sense of restraint and building tension, as opposed to the band's usual hit-the-ground running approach. The release includes a coloured inner-sleeve with band's photos, notes, credits and info. The German heavy metal giants Accept released their accessible sixth studio album Metal Heart in 1985. It marked the return of guitarist Jörg Fischer and the album contains some of their classic songs, such as Metal Heart" and "Living for Tonite". It's a work of pure metal greatness and it got everything you expect from the band. To crack the American market they added catchier choruses and melodies to the music, but they didn't hold back on any of their powerful metal music. The album is overwhelmingly well-produced and performed, and containing brilliant strokes of songwriting genius along with catchy, memorable themes. 180 gram audiophile vinyl Insert "Metal Heart" and "Living for Tonite" (Music On Vinyl)
  • Acid Barretts are a drum-machine-fueled shoegaze/postpunk duo hailing from Athens, Greece. Formed back in 2013 by guitarist and vocalist Harry Eugene Kane, the band ventured out to emulate the essence of bands like Spacemen 3, Suicide and The Jesus and Mary Chain. While the position of bass player is currently occupied by one Scizhic Inzc, this incarnation of the band is finally being completely detached and absolved from the notion of musical genres and limitations imposed upon creativity. Amazing catchy blistering Punk with great Post-Punk elements makes this one of the coolest 80s UK Punk albums ever. Originating from Essex, the band formed in 1980 and quickly grew in popularity in part from their energetic performances and catchy songs and the presence of exuberant vocalist Alison ‘George Cheex’ Roberts, Their debut single a split with Dead Mans Shadow was released in 1981, that lead to them getting some seriously heavy BBC airplay courtesy of DJ John Peel. This was followed by their 'Suicide Bag' 7' on Fallout in 1982 and that single quickly climbed the UK Indie charts. Trust Records is pleased to announce the deluxe reissue of Agression’s cult classic debut album "Don’t Be Mistaken", in partnership with B.Y.O Records who initially released the album in 1983. Agression were on the front lines as they fused the union between skateboarding and punk rock cultures. Their fast-paced, pummeling songs not only became anthems for generations to come, but their convergence of punk’s anger and simplicity, mixed with the furious speed of hardcore, became the blueprint for all skate punk bands to follow. As they innovated, everyone else imitated. Agression was one of the earliest known bands to be considered “Skate Punk. Founding members vocalist Mark Hickey, guitarist Henry Knowels, and bassist “Big” Bob Clark all skated for the Sims skateboarding team in the late 70’s, forming Agression in 1979. The bands only album Don’t Be Mistaken (1982) featured the song “Intense Energy”, which is one of the earliest known punk songs about skateboarding and skate culture. The cover of that album also featured Arthur Lake skating a pool and was shot by legendary photographer Glen E. Friedman. Based out of Oxnard, California, most specifically Silver Strand Beach, their style of music which they dubbed “Speed Rock” became the template for a subgenre of Hardcore now known globally as “Nardcore”. Emerging from southern California in the early ’80s, Agression is considered to be the pioneers of the unique hardcore punk movement affectionately dubbed “Nardcore,” created by combining the words “Oxnard” and “Hardcore,” which originated in Oxnard, California. Outside of Agression this Southern California scene featured bands such as Stalag 13, Dr. Know, Scared Straight, and False Confession. Don’t Be Mistaken is full of rapid-fire skatepunk rhythm and truly stands as a crowning achievement of the movement. The vocals are literally spit out, and the songs are as melodic as they are thrashy. This masterpiece, originally released by BYO Records in 1983, has been remastered by David Gardner from the original analog tapes. It has been repackaged featuring a beautiful, 20-page, full-color booklet on the oral history of the band from inception through the making of "Don't Be Mistaken," narrated by John Reis (Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes, and Drive Like Jehu). • Remastered from the original analog tapes by David Gardner (Infrasonic Mastering) • Includes deluxe 20-page booklet with exclusive photos, memorabilia, antidotes and the Agression story as told by John Reis (Rocket From The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, and Hot Snakes). (Trust Records)
  • You can't keep a good band down. With ceaseless, unwavering fan support, The Aggrolites reconvened in late 2015 to lay down three songs, "Aggro Reggae Party," "Help Man" and "Western Taipan," which reminded them that, hey, they're still pretty damn good at this. They never gave up, thankfully! That one-off recording session was the spark that eventually created this album, certainly their best to date. REGGAE NOW! is the Aggrolites' sixth full-length, and first with Pirates Press Records. Written and recorded throughout 2018, the album finds these architects of "Dirty Reggae" reestablishing their signature sound, re-recording those three songs from 2015 as well as adding on 11 more originals that snap, crackle and pop just as much as your favorite Aggro songs from back in the day. The Aggro Army is excited to get back in the groove. "We're passionate about reggae, we're passionate about our band, and I don't think we?re ever gonna stop," Singer Jesse Wagner notes. "Everybody clicks right now. That's why we're calling it REGGAE NOW! because this is us NOW." Label: Pirates Press Records – PPR237-1 Barcode: 810017644858
  • One could argue this is not the first time the seasoned doom/black metal band Agnes Vein from Thessaloniki, GR has come up against a tough situation. Ever since the “…Of Chaos And Law” EP in 2004 and the long line of liveshows and releases started to unravel, the road hasn’t been favourable. They took the time necessary to prepare and release their debut album, utilizing the experience from sharing the stage with Manilla Road and Brocas Helm among others. In 2010 the relationship with Venerate Industries would form. “Duality” made an impression in the underground metal scene manifesting the influences of Bathory, Candlemass, Neurosis and Celtic Frost and came to be a landmark. The process that is the preparation for an Agnes Vein album took another 3 years, without any shortcuts and by the spring of 2013, “Soulship” came to define the status of the band, driven by a darker and experimental mood. The slow, heavy and bleak sentiment of the record wore off on the whole band’s existence and in the years that followed the struggles would mount up. A line-up change, endless friction influences and a deep consideration marked the new era, which was also highlighted by a number of headline shows as well as joined appearances with Neurosis and Mantar. By the end of 2021, the new Agnes Vein album will be completed, commencing a new, dark era. Limited Edition Cassete. Only 100 copies available! (Venerate Industries)
  • After the anthemic albums “Something’s Gotta Give”, “Riot, Riot, Upstart” and “Dead Yuppies” you could (more or less) say that AGNOSTIC FRONT returned with a blast through the album that followed; “ANOTHER VOICE”! Originally released by Nuclear Blast Records in 2004, the New York hardcore legends created furious, no holds barred, metallic-influenced mayhem, produced by Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta. Due to it’s producer, who also provided some guest vocals on ‘Another Voice’ (as did Karl Buechner of Earth Crisis and Scott Vogel of Terror), the album leaned a bit to the ‘metalcore’ side of things, but it’s still 100% Agnostic Front through and through! In 2018 Strength Records did the very first vinyl re-issue for the RIOT RIOT, UPSTART album. Last year Strength Records was disbanded but the friendly contact between Strength label owner Wouter (also running Rebellion Records) and Roger Miret remained. The 2018 re-issue sold out very quickly leaving an unfulfilled demand. Now here is a special 2022 CD edition this time presented by Rebellion Records. Different name, same people, even better quality! Providing yet another uncompromising mixture of fast, ferocious New York Hardcore and punk-rock sing-alongs, "RIOT RIOT UPSTART's" structure is very much alike "SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE". With a total of 17 songs, the tracklist offers a variety of stompers - barely clocking the 90 second mark, and street rockin' anthems such as title-track "Riot Riot Upstart" and "My Life", undoubtedly leaving producer Lars Frederiksen's (Rancid, The Bastards, Old Firm Casuals) mark on to this record! Including the band's biggest hit "Gotta Go", "SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE´" features a total of 15 scorchers, all making sure this was the best comeback-album the pioneers of New York Hardcore could ever make! A must-have in every punk's, skin's or hardcore kid's record collection! Rebellion Records 2021 With the 2021 repress tracks like "I Wanna Know", "Liberty", "Uncle Sam", "Love To Be Hated" and title-track "Dead Yuppies" are about to be rediscovered by both a whole new crowd and AGNOSTIC FRONT fans worldwide! • "AGONI of Stockholm was one of the predecessors of modern D-beat and Scandinavian hardcore, playing in the heavier register such as SVART PARAD, BOMBANFALL, CRUDITY, DNA, HEADCLEANERS, ANTIBOFORS, DISARM, or DISCARD…but in some cases, several years prior to those bands. So, if any of that is of interest, this review is for you, and you already want or have this LP. AGONI was fucking heavy and fast, and pre-any of those categorizations. Just hardcore käng (känga “boot” crust) punk. Grumbling, furious bass and a calamity of drumming and distortion. An intonating furnace of vocals. Classic tumbling intros and tempo changes you hear all the time in a D-beat “Dis” band today. Not just today, ever since the mid-’80s, and all over the world! But AGONI, and their Swedish contemporaries, wrote that skit. The freshness is almost palpable; it sounds so sincerely constructed and musically destructed. The remastering of these three demos(!) and a live 1985 gig is outstanding. Not to get too far off track here, but if you watch ’80s skate videos and you see the look on the skater’s face when they are like, “What the fuck did I just do and land?,” you realize they were inventing something raw and powerful and always went as hard as possible —it was their scene to do so. That is what it’s like to listen to this compilation. Beautiful hardcore in its the purest and earliest form. No carbon copies here, actually writing the often-imitated fill stylings and riffs you hear today, seemingly happening on the exact take you are listening to. Those subtle imperfections in timing and dropping tone that make it so fucking punk. Side B (demo three) moves into their more thrash-crossover material, as bands of this style were doing then, but even their take retains hardcore roots in its hooks. This collection is essential! Alas, all the liner notes are in Swedish. Use your translation app or something, it’s not 1984—and don’t forget your band is not AGONI when you rehearse that two-second raw moment they did, but you’re still pretty good." https://www.maximumrocknroll.com/review/mrr-467/en-rost-for-fred-1984-1986-lp/ 100% Classic Stockholms Mangel! This LP contains all three AGONI (pre-Agony) demos including the long lost second demo and live material. REPRESSED! Their "demo" cd hit me by surprise and I really couldn't refuse to put this out! These folks come from Gothenburg in lovely Sweden and deliver the goods! The demo (minus 1 song though) that you'll find on this black piece of vinyl hold 4 times thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness every now and then. If you've ever wanted to know exactly how your favourite metal, crust, and doom bands would have sounded like if they were one band this is where you should turn. I won't namedrop anything, just ask you to take me on my word that you really need to check this out if you've been even the slightest intrigued with what's written above. Even though I could drop many influential names, as well as list several of your favourite Swedish crustcore bands in the "members of" department. (Kleister) (Skuld Records)
  • The wait was long, but now it's ready! A dignified follow-up of their first album! An intense Dolp from this dark crust band from Gothenburg. I haven't really enough words to describe this brutal yet twisted attack on my eardrums. Eight songs in just over 72 minutes(!) of death and blackmetal gloom with a healthy dose of crust punk influences leaving me speechless. The Double Lp comes in a beautiful gatefold with a foldout insert. CD version is being released in the US by Profane Existence. (Skuld Records)
  • Agrimonia’s sound could be described as the bastard child of the epic, bittersweet sounds of bands like Counterblast and Neurosis, together with the simplicity and murk of bands like Bolt Thrower and Bathory. Thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness "Rites of Separation" was recorded at Studio Fredman in Sweden by Fredrik Nordstrom in the winter of 2012/2013. • News from the front: ALGARA's first LP is here. From Barcelona, the land where the CNT-FAI shined in 1936, now the anarchist bombs explode again through the twelve tracks of "Absortos en el Tedio Eterno". Ever wondered what would have happened if the RONDOS and CRASS had joined forces at the Conway Hall or if AVIADOR DRO and ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO never had a couple of judo kicks and the four started a new band? Well, then you are close to imagining how ALGARA sounds. At times sparse militant punk a la CRISIS/ FALLOUT filtered thru the KGB/ SINIESTRO TOTAL machine. At times minimal synthetic idealist anthems, but always revolutionary, forward thinking, and making the sound their own. The anonymous collective self recorded "Absortos en el Tedio Eterno" in a Barcelona squat while engaging in their agitprop campaigns. With songs about poor working conditions, the constant evictions, youth unemployment, and a city consumed by tourism and other forms of gentrification, the LP is a cold call to arms for today’s political punk. The LP sleeve shows members of the collective at one of their rendezvous point looking cool. Comes with an A2 double sided poster, 14 page Manual for Sound Guerrilla booklet and a sticker. Hard-hitting and dark, this alt. Metal classic from 1992 focuses heavily on vocalist/guitarist Layne Stanley's heroin addiction. Few artistic endeavors have as completely explored an addict's perspective with such clarity and emotion. Bandmate vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell contributes heavily, not only with thematically tight songs, but as a force pushing through Stanley's addiction, keeping the songs and album on pace. Hits from "Dirt" include "Rooster," "Would?," "Angry Chair," "Down in a Hole" and "Them Bones." The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart. Comes with insert. Released for the first time as double vinyl. (Columbia – 19439953541, Legacy – 19439953541, Velvet Hammer – 19439953541)

One of the most familiar faces in the busy Melbourne music scene; Jake Robertson (who you may remember from such class acts as Ausmuteants, Hierophants, School Damage, et al) returns in full-fledged form with another unruly record from his solo alter-ego ALIEN NOSEJOB. Thirteen months on since the hardcore-punk inspired concept album, ‘Once Again The Present Becomes The Past’, Alien Nosejob turns the ship back to front and sails in a new direction, yet again. Paint It Clear mixes sounds of classic 80’s new wave and post punk whilst sprinkling in the occasional disco track on top. But don’t let these descriptions throw you off - it still carries Robertson’s classic screech of cheeky yet witty lyrics and sharp songwriting hooks. After three home-recorded records prior to this, Mikey Young has finally been phoned in to take over the production controls and breathes a whole new way of life into Alien Nosejob. Never before has ANJ been heard in such fidelity. The clarity! The definition! The dynamics! It all shines brighter than ever before resulting in a record that Robertson’s “parents could actually listen to”. There’s a little something for everyone; whether it be 80’s Cure-inspired synths in Duplicating Satan, the robust Devo-like feel of Leather Gunn, the sing-along chorus of Crusader of Coles, or the melodic, minor closer that is Bite My Tongue. There’s even The Butcher; a piano ballad inspired by the Fun Boy Three, showcasing Jake’s skills as not just a songwriter, but a damn fine singer. Paint It Clear is Alien Nosejob’s fourth full length record since 2018 - it certainly proves he a nose for these things. (Feel It Records/2021)
