  • Out from a concept of misery and suffering, our feeble and dying world is the subject of a new hymn to its demise. “Mortal Coil” is Dödsrit's third full-length, featured on a yet short career though wholly filled with soul-drenching moments. Featuring four tracks, Dödsrit's "Mortal Coil" hails the smothering ashes of purgatory's flames by forging a wall of soultearing riffing, blistering belligerence conjoining melody with aggression, a genuine blaze of cacophony and heart-wrenching melancholy. Consuming all in its path, this relentless maelstrom of grief finds its vision on the thunderous production - utterly powerful and blisteringly organic in all its dynamism. Such sonic virtues get sheerly enhanced by the lively rhythmic section and uncompromised ferocity. Whether on blastbeating outbreaks, D-beat infused vigour, or further atmospheric escapades, pulsing impulses carry an expression and sense of craftsmanship that amazingly translate emotions into cataclysmic beats. Drenched in anguish, a scourged narrator of tragedies spews every single word with the blood and fiery distress of a heart burdened by the weight of our sorrowed existence, a shivering performance of a tongue absorbed in the (dis)comfort of eternal grief. Out under the banner of Wolves of Hades on Vinyl & CD, and The Hell Command on Cassette, “Mortal Coil” is a eulogy to the world in flames - to the hell we call our home. The Varukers was one of the first groups of the UK 82 movement - the second generation of punk rock that took the spirit of '77 and merged it with the incessant beat of NWOBHM - responsible for creating UK hardcore. Heavily inspired by Discharge, The Varukers released three 7"s in the early '80s before this, their first and most definitive album, came out in 1983 on the legendary Riot City Records (Vice Squad, Abrasive Wheels, Chaos U.K.). Back in print on LP thanks to Radiation Reissues, "Bloodsuckers" is one of the definitive pieces of early UK hardcore, full of Sabbath-inspired guitar work, pounding rhythms and aggressive, anarchistic lyrical content. • Either intentionally or unwittingly this is a band experimenting with extremes. Formed in 1985 when Thatcherism swooped over England and scalped the North East, Hellbastard admit to being ‘’too metal for punk, too punk for metal’’, instead coining the term ‘’crust’’ as a way to feel at peace within themselves whilst simultaneously starting a sonic war that shocked the nerves into spools of frayed tape. With Malcolm ‘’Scruff’’ Lewty on guitar and vocals, Ian ‘’Scotty’’ Scott on bass and vocals and Phil Laidlow on drums, it was all captured with their classic Ripper Demo debut release in 86’. But really, it's all encapsulated right here with this reissue also containing the follow-up demo-lition from ‘87 - Hate Militia. Both are perfect ways to establish the nightmarish worlds, of death camps and dark sides, that wildly writhe within his group’s menacing worldview. • Containing the hits that were only deemed misses by the critics that condemned Oi! as some kind of subcultural fad that favoured football and violence way above the bloody good tunes that should by rights occupy the higher rank, 4 Skins, The Unreleased Radio & Studio Sessions encapsulates that energy at its finest. From formidable swarms of police brutality and political injustice, the underlying (and unyielding) socio-political messages experienced from the streets that resonated with every estranged clockwork skinhead of the day are bound to be ticked on every track. After the atmospheric crash of One Law for Them, dropped in amongst the Radio and blistering Bumper Sessions with Evil sitting squarely in its unpolished centre is the ska-inflected gallop of Seems To Me, an unreleased tune reinforcing the notion that there was more to Oi! than meets the laces. 40x30 cm folded poster included, 1-5: Recorded in July 1981 for radio session that was never broadcast. 6-7: Unreleased single, due to be issued in 1983 (Secret SHH 149). 8-12: Recorded at Bumper Studios in January 1981. 13: Demo. • Understand? is the fourth album by Chicago punk legends band Naked Raygun, released in 1989 through Caroline Records. After the visceral energy of their debut, 'Throb Throb', and the subtle refinement displayed on 'Jettison', the Chicago hardcore label rejecters did little to aid their claim with the brawny, scrappy 'Understand?' Packed with an onslaught of riffs, pummelling d-beat blasts and gang vocals galore, while rife with unkempt cynicism and aggression on the anthemic anti-social title-track or the snapshot of 'The Sniper Song,' Naked Raygun would only further cement their status as punk all timers on this seminal fourth record. • If the Misfits were one of the greatest punk bands then Walk Among Us released in 1982 is perhaps one of the greatest records in punk history. While Static Age and Earth AD showcased a band searching for an identity like a vampire for its next victim, Walk Among Us is almost sheer perfection. With a solidified lineup, fully grown-out devillocks (the Misfits trademark long spike of hair in the front) and the stabilizing presence of the somewhat pedestrian but agile arthur googy on drums, uber-misfit Glenn Danzig was finally able to match his zombie-elvis to a worthy musical foil. From the manic opening of 20 Eyes to the monster football chorus of Braineaters, there is nothing less than a sublime moment on this album from start to finish. Astro Zombies or I Turned into a Martian sound like songs to raise the dead by. a special bonus is perhaps the tenderest love song to decapitation (Skulls) in recent memory. Label: Miss999/Unofficial

  • Destroy All Monsters were a very influential band from Detroit, USA. From 1973 to 1985 they played anti-conformist music with a noisy and arty mix of psychedelic rock & proto punk. The band is known due to involvement of members of MC5 and The Stooges. They described their music as "anti-rock." Destroy All Monsters never found mainstream success, but earned some notoriety due to members of notable rock groups The Stooges and MC5 who joined the group. Although Destroy All Monsters never recorded a proper album, Sonic Youth singer/guitarist Thurston Moore released a three compact disc compilation of the group's music in 1994. This vinyl compile the Ron Asheton era of the band, three singles from 1978 & 1979, the catchiest, the rockiest tunes they did! • This compilation simply needs to be heard to be believed. Who knew that a psychedelic beat garage scene thrived in the pre-revolution Iran of the 1960s? As revealed herein, artists such as Googoosh and Kourosh and groups such as the Littles, the Flowers, and the Golden Ring did their best to muster echoes of the Shadows, the Ventures, the Beatles, and the Stones, delivering their lyrics in poetic Persian and keeping plenty of reverb on those rocking lead guitar riffs. With tons to discover on this fascinating musical voyage, where every track is captivatingly intriguing, making this LP essential listening for all open-minded connoisseurs. • A classic. Propelled by a political mission and some wicked bass playing, the gang of four released 'Entertainment' in 1979. Though King sings, "two steps forward, six steps back" (in At Home He's a Tourist), the only reason Gang of Four could have for stepping back is that they are so far ahead of the curve. This record is - without question - one of the most important records from the post punk era. and, while the album's title was almost certainly intended as sarcasm, this is also a really good listen. • The follow-up to 2021's "Welfare Jazz" was produced by Pelle Gunnerfeldt and DJ Haydn The band said the album was inspired by a conspiracy theory video about evolution. "I just wrote down, 'Who's the real ape?" said Murphy in a statement. "Humans look down on apes as primitive life forms, but we're just this horrible, lazy society that kills each other and starts wars while they're able to love and feel. Children Of Finland Fighting In Norway aka C.O.F.F.I.N is an Australian punk band who have accepted the mental of their nation’s long legacy of greasy-haired, outback-scrounging, garage rock rumblers, blowing out eardrums and amps one stage at a time, while chiseling their name below those of Radio Birdman and The Hard-Ons in petrol station bathroom stalls across New South Wales and beyond. C.O.F.F.I.N’s were planning on taking their sweaty, slug-trailed tunes and cracked cavalcade on the road this year, hell-bent on mopping up the USA while on tour with Amyl and the Sniffers, but due to COVID, those plans had to take a short dirt nap. The record they were planning to tour on is out though, and it is a bar-none, bar-room crashing, banger! The latest self-titled album from C.O.F.F.I.N’s is their fourth LP overall and retains a lot of the attitude from their previous releases. It unleashes a raging rip of rock fury that blazes like a wildfire, kept alive and deadly by the bellow-like thump and growl of drummer and vocalist Ben Portnoy whirlwind conjuring percussion and libido-pumping leads and grooves of the band’s three guitarists, Abijah Rado, Arthur Flanders, and Aaron Moss. Not unsurprisingly, C.O.F.F.I.N shares a lot in common stylistically with angst-primed, countryfied garage of groups like The Murder Junkies. To that point, they’ll often close out sets with a GG Allin song and the original cover of their 2018 Piss~Up depicted the band peeing into their own mouths (and the alternative cover isn’t much better). But it’s on matters of ethics and principals, rather than style and image, where the C.O.F.F.I.N diverges from many of their influences. What may appears on the outside like a bunch of boys having a gay old-time while playing recklessly loud and loose rock ‘n roll, is in reality a layered experience of conscientiousness and social engagement (in addition to a bunch of guys messing around and making a god damned racket!). Case in point, C.O.F.F.I.N’s track “Dead Land,” which takes up the issues of environmental degradation, the encroachment development on wildlife habitats, and the devastating impacts of global warming, all with the fires that nearly consumed their native country this past year, billowing at the top of mind, with its lusty appetite for destruction in the foreground. If the land dies, it will be humanity’s fault, and presently we as a species show no signs of abating our march towards a fallow Earth. Socials issues are of great concern to the band as well. In interviews, Portnoy and other band members will speak candidly about the need to confront homophobia and end racism in Australia and around the world. C.O.F.F.I.N may take the piss (literally) when it comes to themselves and their music, but when it comes to the subject matter of their songs, they clearly intend to inspire reflection and action, as much, or more, than simply a rowdy, good time. As guitarist Abijah Rado told Monster Children back in July, “Now is a time that, through collective unity, people’s voices are finally being heard and acknowledged. The whole system needs to change and that will never happen overnight, but it’s good to see that the ball has started rolling towards implementing these necessary adjustments.” (Erste Theke Records)
  • An excellent job of including some really good previously uncompiled tracks. Perhaps the other Bodysnatchers track from the 7" would have made a better opening track? Pretty much top-notch except for the Z-Cars, Vacant Lot & Wrong Kind Of Stone Age. Today I kick off with rare punk stuff from down under and the Bloodstains comps have become a monster of their own and I think all releases are somewhere in the network available. The reason for this post is again the excellent rip and the complete artwork and finally, of course, the gifted music on it. Everyone's heard the classics by Razar, Victims, Rocks, Leftovers, News and Fun Things....all great bands, but they're on dozens of other compilations so it makes no sense including them here. Instead you'll get a taste of some killer Australian punk (previously uncompiled tracks) you might have missed. Mystery (Bodysnatchers, 1979, from only 7") Dance With The Fuhrer (Skunks, 1982, from only 7") Threats (Young Identities, 1980, from 2.7" [New Trends EP]) Police (Proles, 1979, from only 7") SS Brigade (Public Execution, 1982, from only 7") Alcoholic (Press, 1979, from only 7" and only LP) Fun (Thought Criminals, 1978, from 1.7") Run Amok (Wrong Kind Of Stone Age, 1984, from only 7") Multinationals (Vacant Lot, 1981, from only 7") Second Glance (Sputniks, 1979, from only 7") Guns & Guitars (Just Urbain, 1979, from 1.7") Standing By The Window (Tactics, 1979, from 1.7") Pyramid Party (Quick & The Dead, 1981, from only 7") Is There Someone Out There? • Mastodon present their anxiously awaited ninth full-length album, Hushed and Grim, via Reprise Records. Over the past year, the group recorded the album in their home town, collaborating with producer David Bottrill [Tool, Rush, Muse, Peter Gabriel] behind the board. As their most ambitious body of work to date, it consists of 15 tracks, surveying sonic landscapes of rock, psychedelia, punk, metal, alternative, and prog threaded together by the innately expressive musical interplay of these four musicians. At the same time, an atmosphere of loss, loneliness, and longing permeates through the trio of cathartic vocals as they musically say goodbye to old friend, confidant, and long-time manager the late Nick John by architecting a magnum opus that bears the influence of his eternal memory. Tracks D1-D4 are bonus tracks that did not appear on the original album. In 1992, Biohazard signed with Roadrunner Records and released Urban Discipline, which gave the band national and worldwide attention in both the heavy metal and hardcore communities. The video for the song "Punishment" became the most played video in the history of MTV's Headbanger's Ball, and the album sold over one million copies. The band also began opening for larger acts such as Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, House of Pain, Fishbone, and The Cro-Mags. In 1993, the hardcore rap group Onyx brought on Billy Graziadei for an alternate "Bionyx" version of their hit single "Slam" with Biohazard as their backup band. This led to a collaboration on the title track of the Judgment Night soundtrack. The soundtrack would go on to sell over two million copies in the United States. Months later, the band left Roadrunner Records and signed with Warner Bros. Records Inc. who released their third studio LP, State of the World Address. The album was produced by Ed Stasium in Los Angeles and contained the single "How It Is" featuring Sen Dog of Cypress Hill, for which a video was also shot. During their 1994 tour, the band made an appearance on the second stage at the Monsters of Rock festival held at Castle Donington. State of the World Address went on to sell over one million copies, and Rolling Stone magazine selected the Biohazard logo as the best logo of the year. This was the last Biohazard album with Bobby Hambel, who left due to differences with the rest of the band. The band recorded their fourth studio album, Mata Leao, as a three piece in 1996. It was produced with the help of Dave Jerden. For the 1996-97 Mata Leao Tour, former Helmet guitarist Rob Echeverria joined the band. The band also played on the Ozzfest mainstage alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Danzig, Fear Factory, and Sepultura. While touring Europe in support of the Mata Leao album, the band recorded their Hamburg, Germany, show for their first live album, No Holds Barred (Live in Europe), which was released in 1997 through their former label, Roadrunner Records. The band signed to Mercury Records and released their fifth studio album, New World Disorder, in 1999, once again with Ed Stasium as a producer Track List Side A 1 Chamber Spins Three 3:40 2 Punishment 4:45 3 Shades Of Grey 3:26 4 Business 4:04 5 Black And White And Red All Over 4:10 Side B 1 Man With A Promise 3:20 2 Disease 4:01 3 Urban Discipline 5:33 4 Loss 5:19 Side C 1 Wrong Side Of the Tracks 3:37 2 Mistaken Identity 4:32 3 We’re Only Gonna Die (From Our Own Arrogance) 2:17 4 Tears Of Blood 4:52 5 Hold My Own 2:51 Side D 1 Business (demo) 4:13 2 Urban Discipline (demo) 5:14 3 Loss (demo) 5:12 4 Black And White And Red All Over (demo) 4:36 Label: Run Out Groove, Roadrunner Records Barcode: 0081227880170
  • Released back in 2000 on cd format only, now reissued for the first time ever on vinyl. Cheltenham’s Horror Punk/Death Rockers The Screaming Dead, whose name is drawn from the English title of the 1972 horror film “Dracula contra Frankenstein” is one of the few bands that managed to authentically straddle the line between punk and gothic / goth rock in the early 80s. Like The Damned, the band’s oeuvre includes purist three chord punk alongside more nuanced gothic rock pieces. And similar to kindred souls in bands like The Dark and Siekiera, Screaming Dead’s early aggressive approach gave way, later in their career, to a more measured and atmospheric gothic sound. Songs like "Valley Of The Dead" or "Warcry", which still sound very originally like punk rock, already have a dark melancholy in them that foreshadows darker things. With "Night Creatures" or "20th Century Vampire" they have succeeded in creating absolute masterpieces, these songs take you into the night and leave you there. Towards the end, saxophone and organ come into play, it gets poppier, but also more dramatic, but remains darkly melancholic. There's a dirty undertone running through every song, which gives the overall work that extra punk touch. Screaming Dead from have created a new, very own sound. (Bomb All Records)
  • Part of the late '70s/early '80s HC/punk explosion out of the Los Angeles area, where bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Minutemen, and Bad Religion originated from, Anti formed in 1979 by a then teenage Danny Phillips, better known as Danny Dean, who was the bassist/guitarist and first original vocalist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member throughout multiple lineup changes during the past 40 years. Their 1982 debut album, 'I Don't Want To Die In Your War', was recorded and mixed by legendary producer and sound engineer for Black Flag and Descendents, Spot. It is a major example of California hardcore from the early '80s. Despite having been completely underrated, Anti's 1982 debut paved the way for a lot of California punk to come. Available again for the first time after almost four decades on its original format, with its original artwork and complete with insert thanks to Radiation Records. Label: Radiation Records

  • Among the kings of the late '80s UK hardcore scene, EXTREME NOISE TERROR, indisputably deserve their name to be written in big black capitol letters. After speeding up, together with Napalm Death, Doom, Hellbastard and the likes, what Discharge created back in the early Eighties and inspiring a whole generation of crust bands, EXTREME NOISE TERROR are back in 2015 with a new full length recorded last year. It's hard to believe this new masterpiece doesn't come from the same 1991 sessions as this is totally Phonophobia-core. This new self titled record sounds exactly as the old E.N.T. tunes we all fell in love with, so what you have to expect is the usual overdose of throat-cutting double vocals, thrashy heavy rotten sounding guitar riffs, helicopter-ish bass and turbo aggressive fast beats. For those who still don't believe it, I'm reporting what Dean Jones wrote us introducing the record: "The new album is back to total old school ENT (Earslaughter, Holocaust, Phonophobia) No Metal, No Blasts. Total pure ripping, ultra fast H/C Punk the way it originally was". And this is what their new singer Ben wants to state about his feelings towards the record: "I was a big fan of ENT as a teen, long before I joined, specifically of A Holocaust In Your Head and Phonophobia. If I was going to compare this new album to anything the band’s done before I’d say it sits nicely with those two. Catchy as fuck aggressive ultra hardcore punk riffs, fast frantic drumming and mental vocals; I don’t think Dean’s ever sounded as insane as he does on this one! It’s raw as fuck too, no click tracks or fixing-in-the-mix type shit, instead the drums, bass and guitars were done live with the leads added after and me and Dean sharing a mic going through a 76 year old analogue valve amp. We’re all hugely proud of this album, its a proper call to arms and a brutal statement that the band’s music and message is every bit as relevant today as when it was formed 30 years ago”. This record is totally in memory of their beloved singer Phil Vane who sadly passed away in 2011. Rest In Peace Phil and long live EXTREME NOISE TERROR! Housed in a digipak. Carries an 8-page booklet. Label: Criminal Attack Records

  • American thrash metal band from Berkeley, California formed in 1984. Originally known as Sacrilege, they added B.C. to their name in 1986 to avoid confusion with UK Sacrilege after being signed to Alchemy Records. Sacrilege B.C. played Bay Area thrash metal with a huge dose of punk and crossover influences. The band featured vocalist Strephon Taylor, guitarists Gary Wendt and Tim Howell, bassist Sean Smithson, and drummer Matt Fillmore. Maybe slightly overlooked amidst the era's tidal floods of '80s speed metal talent, the band only recorded two, curiously named albums in 1986's ‘Party With God’, and 1988's ‘Too Cool to Pray’ . Guitarist Wendt would later help found post-death outfit Skinlab. With this re-issue 'Party With God' finally emerges from obscurity with demo 1985 as bonus. A classic and a raging thrashterpiece that delivers in spades on the promise of TRUE metal/punk crossover! The band was disbanded in 1991. Limited edition vinyl version of the legendary debut album from the ultra-cult 80s’ Bay Area Thrash band: Sacrilege B.C. Also contains the 1985 demo pressed on vinyl for the first time! • THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP ON/OR AROUND MARCH, THANKS! Southern California hardcore punk band Virulence was originally formed in 1985. They were heavily influenced by Black Flag, the Melvins, & BL’AST!. After the bands’ demise in 1990, the members reformed under the moniker: FU MANCHU The bands’ debut and sole release “If This Isn’t A Dream…” is an exercise in slow, crushing minimalism. Originally released by Alchemy records circa 1989 and has been out of print/unavailable until now! A very worthy induction into the chapter of early heavy music recordings. Limited edition Black Vinyl. Label: Southern Lord

Eternally shrouded in complete mystery and anonymity, the entity calling themselves Toadliquor has returned with its first recorded offerings in over 25 years. Violently bleeding out into the early-90s with their lone LP Feel My Hate – The Power Is The Weight – R.I.P. Cain, Toadliquor followed that with a few comp tracks and a single before completely disappearing into the ether. Southern Lord compiled most known recordings in 2003 on the Hortators Lament compact disc. Then, on the occasion of the label’s 20th anniversary in 2018, Southern Lord released these recordings plus one newly-received cryptic distress signal from deep space on the limited edition 2xLP set Cease & Decease. And now, in 2024, Toadliquor return, to continue their decades-long onslaught of desolation, despair and damaged vocal cords with Back in the Hole. Seven prize picks for the communal trough. Label: Labyrinth of Thoughts

Now they’re back and ready to unleash a raw and primitive explosion of Swedish rock music. The album features 12 brand new tracks, clocking in at 31 minutes, where the band explore the more traditional sounds of rock’n’roll while keeping the energy and volume levels cranked to the max. Acid Eaters is the thirteenth studio album by American punk rock band Ramones. Released in 1993, towards the end of the Ramones' career, the album is the band's first and only album entirely composed of covers. Acid Eaters forms a musical tribute to the Ramones' favorite artists of the 1960s and highlights the influences the Ramones took from garage rock bands like the Seeds and the Amboy Dukes, as well as from popular bands such as the Beach Boys, the Who and the Rolling Stones (all of whom are covered on this album). • For the past thirteen years, XIBALBA has been dedicated to carving a sound which combines unadulterated aggression booming out of the vocals, an ultra-heavy low-end frequency, colossal death metal riffs, brutal hardcore breakdowns, and a trademark groove now synonymous with the group. Años En Infierno takes these conventions and finds a new way of expression that the band defines as, "more harsh, brutal, and creative in a metaphorical sense." Some aspects of this album remain consistent, such as the album?s cover artwork once again being handled by longtime collaborator Dan Seagrave (DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED, SUFFOCATION). However, the production of this album was handled by Arthur Rizk (CRO-MAGS POWER TRIP, INQUISITION) whose handiwork pushes XIBALBA's sound to epic proportions. Label: Southern Lord Records

  • Madre mía gracias por los días is the debut album by the hardcore band Xibalba, originally released in 2010 by the band itself and Beatdown Hardware Records. Xibalba from Southern California effectively fuse death metal influences like Sepultura and Obituary with more modern and 90's hardcore as well a healthy dose of Crowbar! Xibalba's downtuned, heavy as fuck music is a SEVERE force to reckoned with. The old world influence is only evident to the trained eye, but Xibalba gives nods not only to the hardcore bands they were raised on, but to the culture which spawned them. Xibalba not only know their roots, but make sure you won't forget them either. The Madre Mia Por Los Dias cd contains not only the s/t debut album from Xibalba but also the material from the Earthquake comp cd. The vinyl version of this album was released by A389 records (Ringworm, Integrity, Pulling Teeth). Label: Southern Lord Records
  • Formed in Southern California in 2001, a ferocious storm of greasy 70s rock, blazing thrash and urgent 80s hardcore, like B’last! meets ZZ Top! They toured (hard) with bands like Municipal Waste and Caustic Christ and since splitting up in 2009 – a year after the release of this, their third full-length – members have gone on to play in numerous bands including Lecherous Gaze. Label: Tee Pee Records
  • Though the Beacon Of Faith album is densely-packed, BAPTISTS’ sound is far from claustrophobic. There is melody amongst the dissonance, as the band more deeply explore the noise rock vistas that have always underpinned their sound. The album broadly follows the same trajectory as its predecessors —Bushcraft(2013) and Bloodmines (2014) – combining the style of raw adrenaline-fueled emotion, venomous vocal delivery, gigantic guitar sound, and a visceral rhythmic propulsion; a sonic manifestation of desolate rage, bolstered by a palpable sense of urgency. The lyrics on Beacon Of Faith are drawn from the members’ direct experience of a broken society and general discontentment with everyday life. A multitude of issues are in the firing line, from the Canadian court system, issues surrounding substance abuse, mental health, and how the more fortunate tend to dismiss people who have been dealt a less-fortunate hand. Beacon Of Faith was recorded at Godcity in Salem, Massachusetts with Kurt Ballou in July 2017, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon. Vinyl is housed in a Stoughton printing old style-tip on gatefold jacket. Southern Lord 20th anniversary silver vinyl is limited to 500 copies total pressed Label: Southern Lord Records

  • Vancouver’s BAPTISTS recently completed work on their second full-length album, the follow-up to their 2013 debut Bushcraft. Entitled Bloodmines, the new album (like the debut) was recorded at Godcity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts with with Kurt Ballou Like its predecessor, Bloodmines is a fast, exhilarating album of rage, oozing with genuine raw emotion and punk rock fury. Shards of feedback make way for fast powerful riffs and savage vocals, whilst explosive drumming pumps blood around the band’s beating heart. On album tracks like “Vistas”, “Calling” and the title track, “Bloodmines”, the pace changes, revealing powerful, almost anthemic, jagged noise rock akin to influential San Diego post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu and similar acts which go beyond the two minute mark. Discordant guitar melodies and abrasive vocal passages are elongated, still volatile but perhaps allowing for further contemplation of the band’s underlying message. BAPTISTS continually find new ways to express their rage and with Bloodmines they have created a memorable and commanding album. Label: Southern Lord Records
