Recorded over a frigid weekend in Boston, MA in the analog domain of Alex Garcia Rivera (Give Up The Ghost) and later mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge). From the first tension filled notes struck in "God Talk", it's apparent that a spiritual restlessness and awareness continues to writhe in the collective consciousness of 108 which is an attribute that has set them apart from the rest of the musical world since their inception. From there "18.61" pounds forth with the upmost intensity. Standout track "Crescent Moon" races at manic speed before crashing in on itself in one of 108's heaviest moments ever. Title track "18.61", a moving and brooding song that combines all of the unique musical qualities that make up 108. The gritty "Reduced" showcases new drummer Mike Justian (Trap Them, Unearth, etc.) as the new heart at the center of the 108 machine, rhythmically pushing the envelope. Though the aforementioned songs are electric in every way, it's in some of the more daring tracks that "18.61" truly starts to really shine. "Mannequins" and "Forever Is Destroyed" pick up where classics Black Flag and Rollins Band left off, taking frantic and unpredictable sonic turns that only a band like 108 could navigate. All of this makes "18.61" yet another stunning album from a band that continues to write their own destiny as one the most important and influential hardcore/punk bands in existence today. 1000 copies on opaque purple vinyl out of 2000 copies from the first pressing total. 1919 are a post-punk band formed in Bradford, England in early 1980. Reissued on vinyl for the very first time since its initial release , the classic 1983 album gets a re-master from the band themself's. The Machine LP was heavily inspired by Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, and the theme of alienation is prominent in the band’s oeuvre. If you are a huge fan of deathrock or dark punk--you have to own this--you won't be disappointed! (Restless Empire Records)

Musically they reached a new level, with their mix of ska, reggae, rock and much more. 12 new tracks about the life and struggle of the working class, the love for reggae music and the one or other beer in the local pub of the football club Red Star 93. The typical melancholic and rough voice of singer Charlie is underlinded by trumpet, sax and organ. A reference band in the French skinhead scene and a future classic album. Back in print!!! Groundbreaking collection of the legendary “Kostis,” the most enigmatic of all Greek rebetika artists. 12 tracks of dark and moody open-tuned guitar duets and black-humor lyrics chronicling the hash dens, prison culture and pickpockets of old Athens. Includes a 28 page booklet with extensive notes by Tony Klein (Greek Rhapsody, Mortika), full lyrics in Greek and English, and many previously unpublished photographs. (Mississippi Records)
  • Originally released in 1985, this is the sole album by Tony Cadenas' own The Abandoned, the band he formed after the Adolescents original break up in 1981. Sounding a lot like Tony's original band but with an heavier Germs influence, and a more metallic, darker, almost Motörhead-esque touch. As long as Adolescents got back on track, right before releasing their mid '80s comeback masterpiece 'Brats In Battalions' this obscure page of California punk rock history got completely forgotten and was never reopened until today. A band that really pushed the boundaries for the time while sticking to their roots, something most bands were not able to do. A must for all California punk rock maniacs out there!

The sweet melodies, guitar riffs and basic drumming fit perfectly to the catchy female vocals. And you can’t help, not to sings along to the spanish lyrics (even if you can’t speak that language). A really powerful band from Madrid, that you really should check out.

  • Adolescents, also known as The Blue Album due to its cover design, is the debut studio album by American punk rock band the Adolescents, released in April 1981 on Frontier Records. Recorded after guitarist Rikk Agnew and drummer Casey Royer joined the band, it features several songs written for their prior group, the Detours, including "Kids of the Black Hole" and "Amoeba", which became two of the Adolescents' most well-known songs. Adolescents was one of the first hardcore punk albums to be widely distributed throughout the United States, and became one of the best-selling California hardcore albums of its time.[1] The band never toured in support of it, and broke up four months after its release. The Blue Album lineup of Agnew, Royer, guitarist Frank Agnew, bassist Steve Soto and singer Tony Brandenburg reunited several times in subsequent years, but only for brief periods. Limited repress on Restless Empire. Blue/black splatter vinyl.

  • Canadian Speed/Thrash at its finest! Long time in the works, this retrospective of early AGGRESSION recordings (1984-1986) collects all their demos and promo-tapes released before their debut album “The full treatment“, and adds a bonus CD with a complete, good sounding live set recorded in Quebec, 2/2/1986. Quoting the liner notes by Denis ‘Sasquatch’ included in this anthology: “Five metalheads playing their hearts out without any musical boundaries or restrictions. We were able to do whatever we wanted. And not only musically, we had no rules with an absolute disrespect for laws and society which got us in trouble quite a few times.” Right there in those magical years when bands like Voivod, Razor, Sacrifice, Piledriver were starting to pave the way and Canada was hosting a titanic Metal event such as the World War III Festival, AGGRESSION were spawning their early Thrashing outrages proving to be equally intense and powerful as the previously mentioned pioneers. And to keep up the F.O.A.D. tradition of maniacal attention for detail, this release comes with a gatefold jacket and a massive 36 page fanzine styled booklet with a huge selection of AGGRESSION photos (some exclusive, never seen before ones), flyers, early interviews and memorabilia of all sorts. (F.O.A.D. Records)
  • You can't keep a good band down. With ceaseless, unwavering fan support, The Aggrolites reconvened in late 2015 to lay down three songs, "Aggro Reggae Party," "Help Man" and "Western Taipan," which reminded them that, hey, they're still pretty damn good at this. They never gave up, thankfully! That one-off recording session was the spark that eventually created this album, certainly their best to date. REGGAE NOW! is the Aggrolites' sixth full-length, and first with Pirates Press Records. Written and recorded throughout 2018, the album finds these architects of "Dirty Reggae" reestablishing their signature sound, re-recording those three songs from 2015 as well as adding on 11 more originals that snap, crackle and pop just as much as your favorite Aggro songs from back in the day. The Aggro Army is excited to get back in the groove. "We're passionate about reggae, we're passionate about our band, and I don't think we?re ever gonna stop," Singer Jesse Wagner notes. "Everybody clicks right now. That's why we're calling it REGGAE NOW! because this is us NOW."

AGNOSTIC FRONT "first warning - the "united blood" era recordings, new york city, 1983" (Radiation) THE 'UNITED BLOOD' ERA RECORDINGS, NEW YORK CITY, 1983' - Controversial east coast punk band Agnostic Front were lynchpins of the New York hardcore scene. Formed in 1982 by former Eliminators guitarist Vinnie Stigma along with vocalist John Watson, drummer Rob Crib Crash and bassist Diego, the band went through several other early members to settle on Vinnie Stigma, bassist Adam Mucci, drummer Raybeez and Cuban-born singer Roger Miret for these recordings. Often misunderstood in their early days due largely to their majority skinhead following and the shock imagery of their record covers, the group carved out its reputation in the dilapidated Lower East Side of Manhattan, then blighty by poverty, drugs, violence and high levels of urban decay. The recordings featured on this incendiary compilation date from the very start of their recording career, beginning with the demos that led to their debut seven-inch release, the self-issued 'United Blood' EP, bolstered by other recordings from the period that were left unissued at the time; some of the material included here later appeared on the 'Raw And Unleased' CD, but several songs are appearing on vinyl here for the very first time. Agnostic Front went on to reign supreme on the New York hardcore scene throughout the 1980s and although later recordings once again saw membership changes that brought a shift in style to include thrash-metal crossover elements, their longevity and high standing is such that they were featured on Showtime's 'The Godfathers Of Hardcore' documentary, ultimately leading to Roger Miret's recently released autobiography 'My Riot'. REPRESSED! Their "demo" cd hit me by surprise and I really couldn't refuse to put this out! These folks come from Gothenburg in lovely Sweden and deliver the goods! The demo (minus 1 song though) that you'll find on this black piece of vinyl hold 4 times thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness every now and then. If you've ever wanted to know exactly how your favourite metal, crust, and doom bands would have sounded like if they were one band this is where you should turn. I won't namedrop anything, just ask you to take me on my word that you really need to check this out if you've been even the slightest intrigued with what's written above. Even though I could drop many influential names, as well as list several of your favourite Swedish crustcore bands in the "members of" department. (Kleister) (Skuld Records)
  • The wait was long, but now it's ready! A dignified follow-up of their first album! An intense Dolp from this dark crust band from Gothenburg. I haven't really enough words to describe this brutal yet twisted attack on my eardrums. The Double Lp comes in a beautiful gatefold with a foldout insert. CD version is being released in the US by Profane Existence. (Skuld Records)

  • Non-stop rocker Alien Nosejob, aka Jake Robertson, returns to earth with his second full-length record of 2020, finally bringing the high-octane hardcore punk side of the band to an LP. Hot on the heels of January’s "Suddenly Everything Is Twice As Loud" LP, Nosejob carries on their winning streak and wordy album titles with "Once Again The Present Becomes The Past", which instead follows in the footsteps of the November’s "HC45" 7; merging early 80’s hardcore and late 70’s NWOBHM. "Once Again The Present Becomes The Past" started life as a concept record about Australia’s first and largest air raid, the 1942 Bombing Of Darwin. However, while grappling with this heavy subject-matter, something from Norm Macdonald’s book, of all places, stuck with Jake: "The Present Became Past Again". History is forever repeating itself. It continues to happen. It will happen again. As the record took shape, it was fleshed out with the help of his new reel-to-reel recorder, turning crust and hardcore influences into the dark and cold array of songs documented within. Find out why Alien Nosejob is one of the rare signifiers of both quantity AND quality. 150gr vinyl come housed in a 24pt jacket with lyric insert and download card. Art by Ginklet. Mastered by Mikey Young. Everything else was done by Alien Jake themselves. (Iron Lung Records/2020)
  • “I’m gonna need you to fuck off.” These Portland noisemakers don’t mince words on their debut album. Nor are they just shooting off their mouths. Over the course of this eight-song, 20-minute firecracker they back up that shit-talk with an impressive arsenal of searing guitar licks, primal drumbeats and a singer who channels the rage and angst of classic British punk. But like those oldsters, they’re also clever enough to lace their tunes wtih plenty of catchy melodies, singalong choruses and razor-wire hooks. I’d say they come closer to living up to their name than you expect, but let’s face it: None of these songs will ever be hits, even though they absolutely should be. You can disagree with me on that. But if you do, I’m gonna need you to do something. THE PRESS RELEASE: “After a head-warping intro, Men And Their Work kicks into eight driving post-punk rockers full of angst, confidence, feminism, melody, grit and a sense of direction not commonly found in a debut album. Shit, most seasoned bands don’t even make albums this coherent. It’s a smart moniker as All Hits certainly lives up to the promise. There is a 60/40 split of familiar comfort and provocative mystery inherent in every song. You get shouted sloganeering backed with barbed melody and finessed power-ups massaged into the sweetest spots. We can’t put our finger on exactly what it is that makes this record so special but whatever it is there is a lot of it. Destined to be a modern classic. For fans of Wipers, Raincoats, early Wire and Sleater-Kinney.” (Iron Lung Records) https://ironlungpv.bandcamp.com/album/men-and-their-work-lp-lungs-160

Formed in London in 1977 Alternative TV was a post-punk group known for incorporating reggae rhythms and pushing the boundaries of the definition of punk towards the experimental and avantgarde. Their first album, The Image Has Cracked, came out originally in 1978 and is a wholly unique piece of British post-punk. Beloved by John Peel, and close confidantes of Throbbing Gristle, Alternative TV is one of the most original and beguiling groups of the era. (Restless Empire Records)

Writing about punk, especially hardcore seems to be a topic that has been passed over by most music writers. You see tons of books about the early days of punk and bands like the Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols etc..(if you believed what those books said or VH1, punk ended they day Sid Vicous died), but very rarely do groups like Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, and the hundreds others that followed in their wake get any coverage from a mainstream media. American Hardcore sets out to fill the missing piece of history that was the hardcore scene. This is an oral history of the scene as told by the author, who was a D.C. promoter and played in a band called No Trend, and interviews done by the author with the people created hardcore. He talks with some of the biggest names in the scene including: Milo Aukermen, Brian Baker, Jello Biafra, Dez Cadena, Glenn Danzig, Greg Ginn, Greg Graffin, Jack Grisham, Brett Gurewitz, Ian Mackaye, Mike Ness, Henry Rollins, Mike Watt, and many more both of larger and smaller bands spread throughout country. This personal accounts and the telling of many private and unknown stories gives the book a very intimate feel and by the end, I felt as if I understood some of the frequent contributors better and was better able to understand some of their more personal lyrics and songs. The book is divided into four parts, each with its own chapters. The first part takes a look at why hardcore happened, what were the major influences within and around the scene that prompted it to react the way it did. It discusses topics such as violence at shows, the (rightful) hatred and distrust of the police, racism and sexism in scene or more specifically why it was predominately white and male. It also talks about some of the homosexual people that helped create hardcore. The book also talks about things like straight edge, anti-fashion, people coming from middle class suburbs and stuff like that. The second part is definetly the best part. This part was about the bands and the scenes from all over the country. The best thing is that this book isn't all about the west coast or the east coast, the author attempted and made a really good effort to cover every scene from every area around the country. Some scenes and bands get more attention than others; Black Flag, Misfits, and Bad Brains each got their own chapters, and California was divided into 3 chapters, while others barely get a paragraph. When he does do the chapters on the scenes, the author starts with the bigger bands from that scene and then moves down to the smaller groups. Which is cool that he names the smaller groups along with larger ones, it does get tedious after awhile when you have never heard of some of these bands and just want to skip to the next chapter. Also this is my pet peeve through out the book, when he talks about scenes in different towns he always mentions shows his band played, especially if they were with big bands. While that's cool and I would give my left nut to see the Dead Kennedys play in their prime, let alone open for them, it got really annoying after awhile. The third part tends to drag on bit as it talks about the formation of labels, artwork, the d.i.y ethic, and media portray in movies and TV. I did learn some interesting things in this section though. For instance Belushi was the person responsible for getting FEAR to play on SNL, one more reason he is a god, and if you look during the second performance at the end Ian Mackaye grabs the mic and yells "New York Sucks!" The fourth and final section is about the demise of hardcore and why after 86 or so it became irrelevant, at least in this author's eyes, as most of the good bands quit or started new projects that were labeled "post hardcore" or "emo". A really interesting part at the end has many of the big names from the scene discussing punk/hardcore and its relevance today, and how today's scene differs from then. While some comments sounded elitist, I will give them credit that being punk during the time period 80-86 was a lot more dangerous than it is now, I have never been beaten down for the way I looked, or had cops shut down a show with tear gas and billy clubs, in some ways I feel lucky for that. He also includes a discography at the end for almost every band that recorded something, but he limits it to stuff that was only recorded in-between those magic years, or stuff that was done after 86 that the author feels was relevant. Which to me is really heavy-handed, take Bad Religion for instance, under their discography it stops after the "Back To the Known" EP, I would have included "Suffer" which was done in 87 (I think). Same with Social Distortion, with them it seems like they must have quit after "Mommy's Little Monster". Overall this book offers a very intimate and personal account of hardcore punk between the years 1980-1986. Although at times the author and contributors sound heavy handed as we started this so we are more hardcore and what not, it still is a really enjoyable read, I couldn't put it down and finished it in about a week. If for nothing else the some of the pictures are worth the price of the book alone. Some great live shots and just pictures of people hanging out and being part of the scene are cool, along with the, at times, arty pictures at the beginning of each chapter. (My favorite is called "America" and is a picture of an old worn out chair sitting in front of a busted TV set in a vacant lot). I think that anyone who is a fan of older punk bands should check this out, it gives some great background on your favorite bands and introduces you to some that time has passed over. I know I have been trying to track down some of these bands after reading about them to listen to them.

  • Amyl and the Sniffers are a punk band possessed by the spirit of seventies Australian rock. Amy Taylor (vocals), Bryce Wilson (drums), Dec Martens (guitar) are former housemates who formed the band, wrote a handful of tunes and released their debut EP, Giddy Up, all in a span of twelve hours. Completing their line up with Gus Romer on bass, the band take their cues from a diverse bunch of legends including AC/DC, Cosmic Psychos, Dolly Parton and Die Antwoord, setting out to have as much fun as possible. Their 2nd EP, Big Attraction, was released in February 2017, kicking off a stellar year for these young punks. Growing buzz around their blistering live show made the band a hot tip at Bigsound in Brisbane, while the band was added to festival line-ups including Meredith and CherryRock17. The band and were invited to join the Cosmic Psychos on their forthcoming November/December tour and capped off the year with a sellout NYE show at the legendary Tote in their home town of Melbourne. 2018 sees Amyl And The Sniffers ratchet up another couple of gears with their first national headline tour in April followed by UK shows in May, and their first North American tour in June with fellow Melbournians King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard. • Anarcho-Punk is an ideology of personal freedom. Its artistic self-expression should be available to everyone, regardless of technical ability. The message is far more important than the musical content itself. During the late 70s and early 80s, many new bands emerged to expound serious anarchist ideas. They embraced the DIY punk ethos, creating zines to be distributed at gigs as well as a mine of information on their often gate folded record sleeves. 'Anarcho-Punk Albums: The Band's Story Behind Punk Music' is a book that explores how some of the most controversial material ever written came to the forefront. Over a year in the making, through a series of short interviews with band members, we delve into how the groups started, what were the primary political motivations and what they thought of the albums once recorded. Interviews with Crass, Chumbawamba, Zounds, Omega Tribe, Subhumans, Blyth Power, Lost Cherrees, Antisect, Cravats, Icons of Filth, Rubella Ballet and Flux of Pink Indians reveal all we need to know about the defining LPs of the era. A thoroughly engaging read, we find out about the growth of the squatting culture, the increasing interest shown by the Special Patrol Group (SPG) and MI5, how the albums were often outselling the mainstream pop acts of the time as well as numerous personal thoughts and opinions of fellow bands and individuals. Punk rock recently celebrated 40 years since the Sex Pistols first burst onto the scene. However, for many of us, the Anarcho-Punk bands and their albums was when the real meaning of the movement came into its own.

  • White vinyl. Anchor is a hardcore band with members spread out all over Scandinavia, yet keeping up a relentless tour schedule, always with an urge to do and see more. I’ve know these guys for years and have the deepest respect for their message, passion, and integrity so I’m amped to have them on the label. Recovery is Anchor's second full length, and the band’s debut release on React! records. This is the North American version of the album, with the European version already out on Refuse Records. Call it 90's hardcore if you will, and you might be right, but there are hints here and there of the Scandinavian heritage. Weather it's a catchy melody a'la Millencolin, or a crushing riff flirting more with the Swedish death metal scene than anything else, Anchor is bringing it all together nicely on this LP. • Political Vegan Straight Edge Hardcore from Sweden. It's definitely one of the highlights of the Swedish HC scene in recent years, consist past and current members of such rad bands like DAMAGE CONTROL, SET MY PATH, SMACKDOWN, ANOTHER YEAR or GERILJA. Their sound is influenced by 90's sXe hardcore bands like Trial, Unbroken, Mouthpiece or Refused, but it can also appeal for fans of such current bands like Verse or Haveheart. They're definitely on their own terms with the sound and their message of compassion and awareness. Hard-working band with impressive amount of the shows on their backs. They can ranks high among the best european hardcore acts right now! (Refuse Records)
  • From the ashes of Damage Control (Livewire Rec) and Set My Path comes ANCHOR! • Angelic Upstarts formed in 1977 in South Shields, North-East England. A working class punk band with strong anti-fascist views and beliefs. Influenced by bands such as The Clash and The Sex Pistols, The Angelic Upstarts are a meeting of working class ideology and musical aspiration. Mensi was always liable to provoke reaction, his lyrics making much of his working class roots, and lashing out at police and politicians. The original line up consisted of Mensi (vocals), Mond (guitar), Steve Forsten (bass) and Decca Wade (drums). The Angelic Upstarts launched their punk crusade with the independently released single ‘The Murder of Liddle Towers’ and “Police Oppression” AA side single in 1978. The band paid for the recording and pressing of 500 singles which they released themselves and sold at gigs and local record shops. The single was then picked up by Small Wonder Records who released it nationally. It’s attack on police brutality earned them an early patron in Sham 69’s Jimmy Pursey, who chased a similar constituency of disaffected working-class fans. The band then signed to Warner Brothers, Pursey producing the L.P. ‘Teenage Warning’ (1979). The band’s wholehearted delivery coupled with their denunciation of racism - a particularly admirable stance at a time when other ‘skinhead bands’, were flirting with right wing elements - made the album a classic. With the UK hit singles, ‘I’m An Upstart’ and ‘Teenage Warning’(both 1979), they focused on the plight of the working class. The band went on to release a number of successful albums and minor hit singles before splitting initially in 1983. Fast forward to 2015 and the current Angelic Upstarts line up is Mensi - Vocals, Mr Gaz - Bass, Neil (Newts) Newton - Guitar and Jonnie Halling - Drums. "BULLINGDON BASTARDS" is the new album - their first full length in 13 years - featuring 12 cracking new songs which shows the band are as relevant today as they ever were! (Boss Tuneage Records/2016)
  • Teenage Warning is Angelic Upstarts' first album, released in August 1979. One of the best albums of UK punk's second wave-featuring the essential tracks 'Liddle Towers', 'The Young Ones', 'I'm An Upstart' etc. Produced by Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69!. (Fan Club/Unofficial
  • This was the Samoans last official album and it's a beauty. This band carried the punk rock, acid exploration axis better than any other band from the eighties that you'd care to mention. The sixties feel is more obvious on this release and their great '86 EP 'Yesterday Started Tomorrow', but they've reduced the hardcore burn of 'Back from Samoa' with an early Saints feel, and added some spaced out interludes with acoustic odes directed at the down sides of ingesting too much acid. There’s a part during “Too High to Die”, the third track on Annihilation Time’s classic album II, where Jimmy Rose screams, “I got blood pouring from my mouth and I like the taste of it”. Over massive guitar riffs and even a cowbell, it sounds like the perfect storm of greasy 70s rock, blazing thrash and urgent 80s hardcore. You can almost feel the crushed beer cans underfoot. II stands as an American power punk rock classic now repressed in limited PURPLE VINYL! on Tee Pee Records!! Recorded in 2004 at Motorwolf Studios in Holland while the band was on tour, the album brings together the riffs of Thin Lizzy and Motorhead with the snarl of Black Flag and Siege. Forming in Southern California in 2001, Annihilation Time were ferocious and constant touring (and partying) with bands like Municipal Waste and Caustic Christ earned them a cult like following across the US and Europe. Since the band split in 2009, members have gone on to play in numerous bands including Lecherous Gaze. (Tee Pee Records)

Part of the late '70s/early '80s HC/punk explosion out of the Los Angeles area, where bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Minutemen, and Bad Religion originated from, Anti formed in 1979 by a then teenage Danny Phillips, better known as Danny Dean, who was the bassist/guitarist and first original vocalist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member throughout multiple lineup changes during the past 40 years. Their 1982 debut album, 'I Don't Want To Die In Your War', was recorded and mixed by legendary producer and sound engineer for Black Flag and Descendents, Spot. It is a major example of California hardcore from the early '80s. Despite having been completely underrated, Anti's 1982 debut paved the way for a lot of California punk to come. Available again for the first time after almost four decades on its original format, with its original artwork and complete with insert thanks to Radiation Records.

  • Before going on their Spanish mini-tour with the Dutch hard-core band BGK in November 1984, Anti/Dogmatikss made a first stop at the Marathon Studios in Barcelona, recording 11 songs that would turn into their first self-published cassette to be sold on that same tour. The demo was titled ?Rompan filas!!!? (Break Ranks!!!). Musically, the recording shows the evolution of the band towards a more hard-core sound, accelerated and furious, closer to the style of the Italians Wretched. It included tracks like the now classic <> (Fire at the Moncloa), "Pi?rdete!" (Get Lost), "Anti-U.S.A" (a song by the band Epidemia with a guest chorus by Quoque from Kangrena), "Hacienda", "Was a boy? (Who?)>>. The tape came with an insert (a folded paper) with collages, song lyrics (some written by Joni D. and Cristian Dios from the band Dios), photos of the band and a manifesto. As an extra 13 songs are included on the B side of the vinyl, recorded at Kangrenas? practice place and at their practice place at Les Mosques St., most of them unedited recordings with different line ups. The fourth instalment in Ian Glasper’s legendary journey into the heart of UK Punk and Hardcore, ‘Armed With Anger’” explores the transformation of the UK Punk underground as the gritty 1980s gave way to the 1990s and everything that came with it. Thought by many to be an absolutenadir in the history of punk, this overlooked era still spawned many important and intriguing bands, and, as per his previous works, Glasper leaves no stone unturnedwhen exploring the inspirations and motivations that drove the acts of the time. From the likes of Therapy?, Understand and Lostprophets, who all went on to major label success after starting in humble underground bands, through to groups who released just one demo or a lone 7″ single, ‘Armed With Anger’ examines almost a hundred bands, allowing them to tell their own stories in their own words, and is brimming with previously unseen photographs and long-lost memorabilia.
No stone is left unturned as the many disparate sub-genres of the scene are examined, from pop-punk (Goober Patrol, Panic etc) and ska-punk (Citizen Fish, Spithead), through raging hardcore (Voorhees and Assert), militant SXE (Withdrawn, Ironside)and old school punk rock (Sick On The Bus and Police Bastard), on to the birth of metalcore (Stampin’ Ground and Above All) and, love-it-or-hate-it, emocore (Fabric and Bob Tilton). The leading lights (and many more) are explored and featured, along with the politics, underground fanzines and DIY labels which were synonymous with the scene.
A must for anyone who enjoyed the first three books, all of which were hugely successful and have become cult classic must reads for anybody with an interest in the genre, this ‘fourth book in the trilogy’ pulls together many of the threads of those volumes and brings Glasper’s celebration of the UK’s underground punkheritage to a satisfying,

  • ARMIA | legenda | LP

    23.00 incl. tax
Legenda is their second studio album that was released in 1991. Official reissue on limted 180 gr black vinyl with printed inner sleeve. "Legenda" is an ambitious musical project, a multilayered masterpiece that is meaningful on many levels and escapes easy categorization. The production is fantastic: the sound is dark and monumental but unpretentious, powerful but relying on the strength of the composition rather than on petty heaviness, it is also cold and yet organic and epic. In addition to the classic punk instruments, there are some flute, French horn, acoustic guitar, clarinet, trumpet and synth on "Legenda". The horns increase the epic, monumental quality of the album, possibly even casting an almost ironic, self-reflexive light upon it, and add a subtle moodiness when needed. The synth is very much an atmospheric tool and offers a postindustrial reading of the Soviet epics. For what it is worth, and as irrelevant as it might be, "Legenda" blends the distinctively Polish punk sound of Dezerter (noticeably in the riffs' structure) with the awe-inspiring power of "In darkness"-era Antisect in order to get the perfect ink with which Armia are going to write a darkly ironic, multi-instrumental story about madness and alienation. "Legenda" is incredibly difficult to describe but listening to it as a story is probably the most relevant stance. There are interludes that give fluidity to the album and confer meaning to what precedes or follows. The Don Quijote metaphor that pervades the aesthetics of the Lp tends to indicate that "Legenda" could be a contextualized rewriting. A blinded man living in denial, obsessed with ideas but discarding reality, as pathetic as he is heroic, the Quijote prism can be meaningful on many levels. It could be a comment on post-Soviet Poland (debunking the mythical representation), or on punk-rock, or on the shibboleth of ideology, or on the creative act itself. (Terminal Sound Nuisance) (Metal Mind Production)
  • “Armia” is the band’s debut studio album from 1988. First time official reissue of this highly influential Polish punk classic . Limited 180gr red vinyl with printed inner sleeve. Armia started at the end 1984 after Tomasz Budzynski left Siekiera for whom he was singing (it was over a matter of musical direction, and Siekiera went new-wave after the departure of Tomasz) and founded Armia with guitar-player Robert Brylewski (died in 2018 after beaten up), who had been part of the legendary, mood-defining Brygada Kryzys and of Izrael, a very popular reggae band (reggae has always been hugely popular in Poland). On the drums was also a former Izrael, Tomasz Kozuchowski, and on the bass was yet another Tomasz (they almost could call themselves "Tomasz Army" really). From the beginning, there was something unique and compelling about Armia. Although the band obviously built on the peculiarly intense Polish punk sound of bands like Dezerter, TZN Xenna, Moskwa, Abaddon and indeed Siekiera, as the texture and the structure of the riffs could attest, there was a different feel, a creative intent that was new, conceptual, almost metaphysical and could be seen in the aesthetics of Armia as much as in their music and words. The use of horns and other "non-punk" instruments gave the band a unique sound and pointed at their desire to create a unique soundscape (the fact that some members had already played in the horns-using Izrael also helped). The first 1987 Lp confirmed the band's amazing potential. Although it lacks the awesome power of "Legenda" and is still quite close to the classic Polish punk sound, some songs hinted at the songwriting tour de force that was to follow. But more important, the first album showed something central to Armia: the narrative intent. If you listen to it closely, there is a storytelling quality to the Lp, albeit in a still imperfect form. Taken individually, for all their undeniable quality as hardcore-punk numbers, the songs don't have the same strength and are not as meaningful as when the Lp is seen as a whole. A feeling of dementia and insanity floats over the album but it can only be heard when you listen to the whole work. (Terminal Sound Nuisance) (Metal Mind Production)

"Το 2013 κυκλοφόρησαν με την Geheimnis Records ένα 10-ιντσο EP βινύλιο με τίτλο “Heaven Up There ! ...Red Carpets Down Here...” Avopolis (B-otherside Records)
  • Solid black vinyl version limited to 300 copies - LP+CD. Torino, Northern Italy, is with no trace of doubt one of the areas that gave birth to some of the most important Italian Hardcore bands of all eras… NEGAZIONE, DECLINO, CONTR-AZIONE, 5# BRACCIO, ROUGH just to mention a few. And the great thing about this city is that all this did not only last in the ’80s but had a solid continuation in the decades to follow. Bands like ARTURO, CRUNCH, FRAMMENTI, BELLI-COSI, C.O.V. took the legacy of the giants that came before and ruled the ’90s reinventing Hardcore with creativity, passion and a flash of genius in song-writing. ARTURO were certainly the fastest and those that have been more pristine in sticking to the total Hardcore formula, especially in their early years with Alfo on vocals. So this anthology is all focused on that time, the early years of one of the most furious Italian Hardcore bands of the Nineties… fast, top adrenalinic Hardcore that gives no time to breathe from start to finish! It includes their debut CD “Ar-cor” (1995), the two Ep’s “Isterico” (1997) and “Topo volante” (1998) plus a bonus CD with the impossible to find first demo and an unreleased soundboard live at El Paso (Torino), 1996 opening for CRIPPLE BASTARDS (actually at that time ARTURO shared their drummer and bass-player with CB!). 63 songs of manic fast TORINO HC!!! Double insert with lyrics, original artworks and photos. (F.O.A.D. Records)
