• Following the path of their groundbreaking masterpiece "Screams from the gutter" (1984), RAW POWER's third delivery "After your brain" (1987) strengthens the band's well-oiled Hardcore intensity performed at unbeatable technical precision for the times spicing it up with additional influences, ranging from Metal to guitar driven HardRock, but never losing that speed and punk fueled rage that characterized their sound so greatly. Recorded in one of Italy's most credited studios of those years, "After you brain" was released with an uncomplete and rushed mix that left the band partially satisfied of the final result. 27 years later and for the first time ever, we re-transfered each channel from the master reels and remixed it scrupulously at Toxic Basement Studio under the band's direct supervision. This is how it was supposed to be back then and how Raw Power themselves always wished it to sound like. As the legendary frontman Mauro Codeluppi says: "We recorded everything without great difficulty, sleeping outside in Helder's camper to avoid having to pay extra taxes to the studio. I can't remember why, but in the end the record wasn't mixed properly and the result was a poorly done job. Today, after almost 30 years, with the help of F.O.A.D. Records and the actual members of Raw Power, "After your brain" is reborn for the second time... Completely dissected and reassembled you can listen to it how it should have been, rediscovering details that have been hidden, up to today." As all the other RAW POWER reissues on F.O.A.D. (this is the 4th of the series after "Birth", "You are the victim" and "Screams from the gutter") this comes in a deluxe digipack sleeve with 8 page booklet including lyrics, rare photos and liner notes. Re-descover this timeless Italian Hardcore masterpiece in its best sounding version ever! (F.O.A.D. Records)

Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs (or as simply referred to as Psalm 69) is the common title for the fifth studio album by industrial metal band Ministry, released in 1992 on Sire Records. The actual title of the album is ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ, which is made up of κεφαλή (kephal), a Greek word meaning "head", and ΞΘ, the number 69 in Greek numerals. The title Psalm 69 is used for simplicity's sake. The album gave Ministry a more mainstream audience, with the track "Jesus Built My Hotrod" receiving major airplay on MTV and various other music stations. Psalm 69 also marked Ministry's first release with guitarist Mike Scaccia, who was recruited by band frontman and founder Al Jourgensen in 1989. Sealed brand new 180 gram vinyl, issued with a printed inner sleeve with credits. (Sire Records/Rhino Records/2011)

Formed in 1980, POISON IDEA became a household name in the hardcore/punk scenes early in their career, and are known as one of the most notoriously in-your-face acts in the American musical underworld, with an enraged, high-energy live set even more rambunctious than the massive roster of singles, EPs, full-length studio and live releases and more, across a realm of labels including Pusmort, Tim/Kerr, Epitaph, Farewell, TKO, Southern Lord, and their own Fatal Erection. They’ve been an incredibly influential act to major performers including Nirvana, Pantera, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Eyehategod, Emperor, Turbonegro and an endless list of others. It is with massive enthusiasm that Southern Lord Recordings announces the brand NEW Poison Idea studio LP: Confuse & Conquer featuring eleven raging new anthems. Recorded by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) and mastered by Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise), the record booms with thirty-five minutes of fully ignited hardcore punk in the monolithic style the band has provided for three-and-a-half decades now.

    BL’AST! | blood! | CD

    8.00 incl. tax
Earlier this year BL’AST! guitarist, Mike Neider contacted Southern Lord with news that he had found some mysterious old BL’AST! master tapes in a abandoned storage locker. Greg Anderson, fanatical about BL’AST!, wasted no time in sending the tapes to a studio to be baked. Needless to say, after 25 years gathering dust, the quality had deteriorated. Even when the tapes had been baked, nobody could have anticipated what would follow. With the tapes baked and audio digitised, Southern Lord contacted long time BL’AST! fiend, Dave Grohl about mixing this recording, his response was an enthusiastic “FUCK YEAH!, LETS DO THIS”! Whilst inside Grohl’s famous 606 Studios (and with the Neve console as featured in the recent Grohl produced documentary ’Sound City’) a remarkable discovery was made – a completely unheard, unreleased BL’AST! recording session from the mid–80s. The lineup of the band at the time of the recording included second guitarist William Duvall (from Neon Christ & interestingly now the vocalist for Alice In Chains) who had moved from his hometown of Atlanta out to Santa Cruz on a tip from mutual friends, Corrosion of Conformity to join the band. Unfortunately his tenure with BL’AST! was short–lived and no recordings from that lineup were ever released. From the thunderous bass intro of “Only Time Will Tell” to the apocalyptic warnings of “Its In My Blood” the album completely rips and rages from start to finish. All parties involved were completely amazed at how vibrant, unique and new the material sounded. All things considered, it is miraculous that this record survived it’s journey and that everyone who was involved in bringing this recording to life, could be. Everything fell into place, when it could have easily crumbled along the way. This record is a time capsule that is meant to be heard!

Originally released via Caroline Records, and produced by Randy Burns (Megadeth, Kreator, Possessed), The Joke’s On You, is the band’s second full-length which saw wide acclaim from thrash, punk, metal and “skate rock” circles (members have been known to have shared a ramp with pros Christian Hosoi, Eric Dressen and Tony Alva). Drawing influence from a diverse range of artists including Black Sabbath, Black Flag, Jimi Hendrix, and early era Corrosion of Conformity, people often talk of ‘crossover’ genres but none quite do it as exceptionally well as Excel. The Southern Lord reissue, remastered by Brad Boatright, includes the 12 tracks featured on the original CD edition. The closing track ‘Blaze Some Hate’ was not on the original album (it was released as a 12″ single via Caroline) , it will appear on this LP reissue/remaster. This isn’t the first time Southern Lord have documented the importance of Excel either with their 2014 reissue of the band’s first album Split Image.

  • Alpinist are a four-piece hardcore/crust punk band from Munster, Germany that formed in 2007. These guys play an incredibly dark and intense style of hardcore that borders on screamo territory at times. I don't know if they're still active, since they haven't put out any material in five years. However, their two LP's are absolutely killer. If that really is the end of Alpinist, they've left with a flawless discography. Plus, their members are now active in two of the best hardcore bands active today, which are Jungbluth and Svffer. Both of those bands are already up on the blog, so if you haven't heard them, definitely be sure to check them out as well. The Lichtlærm and "Minus.Mensch" records on one CD. Standard jewel case with smooth black tray & 2x2 lyrics/liner notes poster fold-out sheet. • "Finally a new record from this awesome band from Cleveland! Close your eyes and imagine that His Hero is Gone and Amebix got together and had a child… got it? Ok, now imagine that that child grows up in a dank room full of teenage angst, listening to nothing but Death Side and Disfear records until he is 21 years-old. Now open your eyes and what you have is Masakari, a crust punk band from Cleveland, Ohio.” (Southern Lord Recordings)
  • Nightmare Logic has taken Power Trip’s classic Exodus-meets-Cro-Mags sound to new places. With hooks and tightness rivaling greats like Pantera or Pentagram and production by the esteemed Arthur Rizk, Nightmare Logic punishes fans not only sonically but with pure songwriting skill. The sophomore release and second on Southern Lord Records, raises the bar and pushes Power Trip to new extremes. Since 2013’s Manifest Decimation, the band admits they’ve not only gotten better at their instruments, but have also reinvented their songwriting process into a more nuanced and clever system. The shift shows on this record and does so without losing any of the aggression so essential to the band. (Southern Lord Records)

  • Ask any avowed thrash-metal fan, and they’ll tell you the same thing that we’re about to tell you: Sepultura’s major-label debut, BENEATH THE REMAINS, is a true classic of the genre and one of the best albums ever released by the Brazilian band. You can imagine, then, that the Sepultura fans out there will be ecstatic to learn that today’s the day that this iconic album hits stores in a deluxe edition, both as a 2-CD set and as a double-LP set on 180-gram vinyl. In addition to a remastered version of the original album, BENEATH THE REMAINS: DELUXE EDITION includes nine previously-unreleased “mixdown” recordings taken from the original album sessions at Nas Nuvens Studios in Rio de Janeiro, along with previously-unreleased unreleased recordings of a September 22, 1989 live performance at the Zeppelinhalle, West Germany. In addition to the band’s own songs, listeners also get to enjoy the band roaring through covers of Black Sabbath’s “Symptom Of the Universe” and the Dead Kennedys “Holiday In Cambodia.” (Roadrunner Records)
  • The debut album from 1969 was immense, but nothing could quite prepare you for the brutal masterpiece that is Funhouse. It is something that is neither pretty nor wholesome, and it succeeds almost entirely on the powerful chemistry at work. Iggy screams, shouts, yelps, and grunts over a barrage of simplistic music with simplistic lyrics and, at times, no music at all (La Blues). Other great tunes present here are Down on the Street, the excellent opener, 1970, a perfect proto-punk anthem, and the title track, simply one of the finest, rawest, most visceral songs ever recorded. This is one of the best albums of all time. if you have any blood in your veins, buy a copy and you won't be disappointed.

  • Heavyweight 180 Gram Vinyl. 'The Number of The Beast' is the first of Iron Maiden's 4 consecutive classic releases, and an absolutely essential piece in any metal fan's collection. For those not familiar with the metal genre, this is an excellent place to start, especially if they are familiar with the heavier bands of 70s rock, such as Led Zeppelin, Rush, and the Who. This album marks long-time singer Bruce Dickinson's debut with the band, and he makes his mark quickly as Maiden pulls away from the punk influence of former vocalist Paul Di'Anno (who was kicked out of the band for his descent into alcoholism), and adopts the style that will make them pioneers in the genre. Steve Harris really steps into his own as a songwriter on this album, as both the lyrics and music become increasingly complex and showcase the instrumental talent of the band on a level that Maiden's two previous albums, while strong in their own right, just never reached.

  • To celebrate the 35th anniversary of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” in June 2015, Rhino Records is pleased to announce the re-issue of four iconic Joy Division releases on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl. The studio albums Unknown Pleasures (1979) and Closer (1980) will be available in June and will be followed in July by Still (1981) and an expanded version of Substance (1988), both available as double-LP sets.

Each design replicates the original in painstaking detail, including the gatefold covers used for Still and Substance. The music heard on the albums was remastered in 2007 when Rhino introduced expanded versions of the albums. The lone exception is Substance, which features audio remastered in 2010 for the +- singles box and for the first time on vinyl, the expanded tracklist from the original CD release, plus two additional songs: “As You Said” and the Pennine version of “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”
Joy Division recorded two albums before singer Ian Curtis tragically took his own life in 1980. But what the Manchester quartet lacked in longevity, it more than made up for in quality. The band’s only two studio albums were groundbreaking and helped shape the sound and mood of the alternative music that followed in the band’s wake.
Curtis (guitar/vocals), Bernard Sumner (keyboard), Peter Hook (bass), and Stephen Morris (drums) released their debut, Unknown Pleasures, in 1979. By the end of the year, the album’s atmospheric sound had won over fans and critics with tracks like “She’s Lost Control” and “Day of the Lords.” Closer, the group’s second album, arrived the following year and its dark and melancholy tones continued to earn rave reviews for songs like “Isolation” and “Heart and Soul.”
The compilations Still and Substance fill in the missing pieces of the band’s history with non-album singles (“Transmission” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart”), unreleased studio tracks (“Something Must Break” and “Ice Age”), and choice live recordings (“Disorder” and the only performance of “Ceremony”). Remastered, 180 gram, Textured Sleeve.

  • Southern Lord Recordings is beyond stoked to unleash the brand new album from visionary metal act, TODAY IS THE DAY. Animal Mother is the bands tenth studio album and is eagerly anticipated by their rabid and very loyal fans. Early this year, TODAY IS THE DAY’s newest lineup was announced, as the foundation of the then unnamed album was taking shape. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Austin welcomed Sean Conkling (Regression, Burn Your Halo, Sprawl) on bass. Since December and January Austin has been painstakingly layering guitars, vocals and more, and as the final sessions for TODAY IS THE DAY’s tenth studio full-length recording, the band happily unveils the name of the impending LP, as Animal Mother. The finished beast is uncompromisingly raw, honest and goes straight for the throat. As per the album title, Austin offers, “Animal Mother means the embodiment of the prophetic gift of the shaman; it is the shaman’s visionary power, which is able to penetrate the past and future.” Early this year the frontman warned the public that the album is “a fifteen-song rampage of bloody carnage fueled by hate, love and vile, raw emotion,” continuing, “I feel it is my finest work to this date. It is the most complex and HEAVY record we have ever made. This is real — no bullshit Protools crap; just pure violent energy and real band songwriting in the middle of the woods in Maine. It lies somewhere between Temple of The Morning Star and In The Eyes of God, and Jeff’s playing is beyond incredible. I was determined to push the limits in complexity, musicianship, and creativity as far as we could and I feel we have put together a record that narrates the horror and pain that we have been living through.” For two and-a-half decades TODAY IS THE DAY has woven Steve Austin’s prophetic observations and noise-soaked chaos through a psychedelic, unique and unmatched battery of heavy styles. The outfit has spawned an incredible discography, forging their way to the forefront of Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse, Blackmarket Activities and many others. The band has pillaged the planet touring with countless acts over the past twenty years, with just a brief list including Motörhead, Morbid Angel, Helmet, Neurosis, The Melvins, Napalm Death, Coalesce, Unsane and Eyehategod. Steve Austin has produced nearly all of TITD’s releases, as well as groundbreaking albums for Lamb Of God, Converge, Deadguy, From Ashes Rise, Anal Cunt, and many others. Austin is featured in the Color of Noise Documentary about Amphetamine Reptile Records, and is currently scoring several independent films. (Southern Lord Records)

Sarabante is a hardcore/crust band from Athens, Greece. “Remnants” is the bands debut release. The band was brought to the attention of Southern Lord by Brad Boatright of From Ashes Rise. This makes perfect sense as Sarabante has a similar burning intensity that can be heard from those legends. One of the primary focal points of the group is their consistent execution of infectious melodies. This cd is limited to 1,000 machine numbered copies. For fiends of: Tragedy, From Ashes Rise, Neurosis. (Southern Lord Recordings)
