• From disenchanted Catholic schoolgirl and glam maniac to instigator on the 1980s hardcore punk scene, Nancy Barile discovered freedom at a time when punk music was new and dangerous. She made her place behind the boards and right in the front row as insurgents such as SSD, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys and Black Flag wrote new rules and made history. She survived punk riots and urban decay, ran the streets with outcasts, and ultimately found true love as she fought for fairness and found her purpose. Nancy was one of the latter—she was there and solid and supportive, and over the years I’ve watched her take the grit of that old world and use it as a hammer to fashion this present place into a more livable space. I’m proud to say I know her.” —Jack Grisham, T.S.O.L. “A front row, music maniac, natural-born rebel’s memoir that highlights her participation and help in the very orchestration of the East Coast punk scene… an invaluable piece of punk rock history.” —Razorcake “A wild ride recounted in vivid and lively detail. Barile has a clear, approachable voice that she uses to tell myriad great stories…a must-read for music history buffs, punk fans, and educators.”—Kirkus Reviews “Her true life story is so similar to my own, where we re-live and discover in the rough decay of the 1970s city life, the color and the life of the underground gay and punk scenes.  The struggle, sounds, smells and color come alive. I feel the tension as a woman navigating to find her voice.” —Cynthia Connolly, Banned in DC “I have known Nancy for most of my life as a great friend and as a contributor and caregiver to all who know her socially or personally. • Limited edition 40th anniversary version of the band’s second and final studio album, pressed on 180g crystal clear vinyl. Originally released in July 1980 on Factory Records, the album reached number 6 in the UK Charts. In the same year, the album was voted in NME’s 1980 Albums of the Year poll. Closer was recorded in March 1980 at Britannia Row Studios in Islington, London. It was produced by the highly praised Martin Hannett whose distinctive production style utilised unorthodox sound recording and technology. Includes a plastic lined inner sleeve as well as a printed inner sleeve. (Factory Records/2020)

Reissue on 180 gr vinyl. Following the tragic death of singer Ian Curtis, the remaining members of Joy Division continued as New Order. 'Movement' was their debut-LP, originally released by Factory Records in November 1981. They recorded Movement in fraught sessions with Joy Division's producer, Martin Hannett, creating an album they weren't particularly happy with, and which wasn't radically removed from the Joy Division sound. (Rhino Records/London Records)
  • To celebrate the 35th anniversary of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” in June 2015, Rhino Records is pleased to announce the re-issue of four iconic Joy Division releases on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl. The studio albums Unknown Pleasures (1979) and Closer (1980) will be available in June and will be followed in July by Still (1981) and an expanded version of Substance (1988), both available as double-LP sets.

Each design replicates the original in painstaking detail, including the gatefold covers used for Still and Substance. The music heard on the albums was remastered in 2007 when Rhino introduced expanded versions of the albums. The lone exception is Substance, which features audio remastered in 2010 for the +- singles box and for the first time on vinyl, the expanded tracklist from the original CD release, plus two additional songs: “As You Said” and the Pennine version of “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”
Joy Division recorded two albums before singer Ian Curtis tragically took his own life in 1980. But what the Manchester quartet lacked in longevity, it more than made up for in quality. The band’s only two studio albums were groundbreaking and helped shape the sound and mood of the alternative music that followed in the band’s wake.
Curtis (guitar/vocals), Bernard Sumner (keyboard), Peter Hook (bass), and Stephen Morris (drums) released their debut, Unknown Pleasures, in 1979. By the end of the year, the album’s atmospheric sound had won over fans and critics with tracks like “She’s Lost Control” and “Day of the Lords.” Closer, the group’s second album, arrived the following year and its dark and melancholy tones continued to earn rave reviews for songs like “Isolation” and “Heart and Soul.”
The compilations Still and Substance fill in the missing pieces of the band’s history with non-album singles (“Transmission” and “Love Will Tear Us Apart”), unreleased studio tracks (“Something Must Break” and “Ice Age”), and choice live recordings (“Disorder” and the only performance of “Ceremony”). Remastered, 180 gram, Textured Sleeve.

• Recorded several years ago before Rudimentary Peni engaged in another mysterious hiatus, Great War has finally emerged to kiss the gas-tinged light of a mustered morn. Expanding on the skeletal sounds and subject of 2009's “Wilfred Owen” single the band has seen fit to concentrate on a more mechanized approach doing away with even more of the humanizing aspects in their music this time delivering ten painful familiar shards fraught with brittle anxiety and anguished simplicity. Great War cements new phase in the ever-crawling metamorphic madness that is Rudimentary Peni. The record comes with brand new Nick Blinko Artwork on the sleeve and Inner Sleeve. (Sealed Records)

  • Hailing from the Jersey Shore, the Worst began their career in the late 1970s playing frequent gigs at legendary New York City dives like Max's Kansas City and CBGB, drawing on the proto-punk sounds of the Stooges and MC5 and refining it into their own brand of proto-hardcore. By the early 1980s the band stripped things down even further to a high velocity hardcore sound and kicked off the legendary Mutha label with the release of their debut 7" in 1982. Their follow-up release, the "Expect The Worst" 12" from 1984, finds the band hitting their loud and fast peak with precision songwriting and performing rarely matched by other hardcore bands of the time. These vinyl releases have gone on to become top-shelf collector's items, and rightfully so given the quality of the tunes contained within. Originally released on CD in 2004 by Parts Unknown Records, this LP version combines both of The Worst's incendiary vinyl releases with an 8-song live set recorded at the legendary Max's Kansas City in 1979. Also includes a 12-page, 12"x12" booklet containing rare flyers and photos, plus newly-penned liner notes by vocalist Do-It. Pressing of 1000 copies. (Radio Raheem Records)
  • Forming in 1983 from the ashes of the Attack (more on them at a later date), Krieg Kopf made a name for themselves in the New York hardcore scene self-releasing two cassette albums and playing constant gigs around they city, Long Island, and beyond. The band eschewed the metal trappings that were slowly creeping into the New York hardcore sound, instead playing a simple-yet-effective brand of full-throttle punk that perfectly captures the speed and aggression of American hardcore in the 1980s. They recorded two album-length cassettes – 1984's "Passen Sie Auf Es Ist" cassette and 1986's self-titled "red tape" – and in between made their sole vinyl appearance with the track "Warhead" on the Big City Records "One Big Crowd" compilation LP. 1987 saw Krieg Kopf entering the studio to produce a full-length record, but the band dissolved before the recording was completed and the session remained unmixed until 2019. This LP collects 19 studio tracks from the two cassette albums and the LP sessions, plus one live track recorded at CBGB (where else?). Also included is a 12"x36" full-color poster insert and an iron-on transfer of the band's original t-shirt logo so you can make your very own Krieg Kopf shirt. Pressing of 500 copies. • If you're a ravenous consumer of New York hardcore obscurities like us, then you probably pored over tape trading lists late at night and wondered if Antidote's "Nazi Youth" demo actually existed, or was just a figment of tape traders' imaginations, or was (more realistically) just a bad dub of the 7". Well lo and behold, when we were tasked with re-releasing Antidote's classic "Thou Shalt Not Kill" 7" EP, we asked the band to dig into the vaults for a little something extra to pad things out into a 12", and they came up in spades! In addition to the legendary 8-song EP, you get the band's first 7-song demo recorded in 1982 at Jerry Williams' infamous 171A Studios, plus two songs recorded shortly thereafter for the lost Bad Brains Records compilation, and a previously uncirculated 12-song live set from 1983. The early demos feature original Antidote singer Jeff White (plus future Prong/Danzig axeman Tommy Victor on bass) and show the natural evolution from the band's punky roots to the well-oiled hardcore machine they became on their vinyl debut. The live set features "Thou Shalt Not Kill" howler Louie Rivera and contains several lost tracks that never made it to the studio. That's 29 tracks total of classic New York hardcore, 21 of which have never been heard anywhere before! The LP also includes a 16-page, 12"x12" booklet containing photos, flyers and extensive liner notes by guitarist/founding member Robb "Nunzio" Ortiz, plus a reproduction of the band's original sticker design. • REAKSI from Melbourne Australia are three immigrant punks from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The band delivers direct, hard and pungent lyrical protest in their native language Bahasa. The songs attack political issues that every Asian punk knows too well, the rights of and the struggles of immigrants (Tidak Ada Manusia Ilegal, Tidak Menyerah), police brutality (Awas) and songs of struggle and freedom (Punk Asia) that is highly relevant to the Myanmar’s people current uprising against military coup junta. “Esok Hari Kepunyaan Kita” translated “Tomorrow belongs to us” was recorded last year during harsh COVID lockdowns in Melbourne, this debut five track E.P combines the solid attack of UK 82 of THE PARTISANS, CHAOS U.K, the anthemic Oi! sound of THE 4SKINS, BLITZ and also drawing influence from traditional archipelagic hymns. Featuring members of ENZYME, KROMOSOM, PISSCHRIST AND INTRUSION. At first listen/ glance, the sound production and art of this record could easily be mistaken as a record off the NO FUTURE catalogue. Featuring art collaboration by Nicky Rat and Hafiz (SIAL), sound production by Joshua Wells (PRIORS), Maxime Smadja (RIXE, CONDOR) and Yeap. REAKSI “ESOK HARI KEPUNYAAN KITA E.P” is a love letter and a call to arms for Asian punks everywhere. (Fahmi Reza) (La Vida Es Un MUs Records)

ULTIMO RESORTE were the bridge between the very first Spanish Punk Generation and the first Spanish Hardcore Wave. During their 5 years of existence (1979-1984) they only managed to record a demo, and two impossible to find records. A self-titled 7 track 7″ EP and “Una Causa Sin Fondo” a 5 track 12″. “La Larga Sombra Del Punk” compiles both those records plus a 16 pages 11″x11″ booklet with a long interview with the band and tons of pictures and fanzine clippings.. Musically they lay in between the most aggressive parts of VICE SQUAD, DISCHARGE, ELECTRIC DEADS or even SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES. Fronted by Silvia Resorte her voice became their trademark always backed by an urgent band trying to figure out what hardcore was about and a synth player that created a cold atmosphere over most of their songs. This seminal band hailed from Barcelona and you can tell with the desperate feeling their songs have. Their lyrics have that teenage angst feel that only bands from the early 80’s managed to write. Together with RIP, KANGRENA, ANTI-DOGMATIKSS, VULPESS, DESECHABLES or LARSEN this band helped putting Spain in the international punk map back in the day. (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)
  • Sarcasm's final offering is the much-needed shot in the arm you don’t even have to queue for. Sonically their six-track EP is a potent mix of the ignorant anarcho clatter and arch post(-graduate) punk you already love them for, but moreso. Picture UK DECAY squatting the Barbican. Still eschewing distortion for a truly inspired use of phase, the cavernous production (another Falco joint) will leave you staring at a city trader until he switches carriages. Whether it's echo-laden pronouncements on our worst instincts for techno addiction (‘Digital Colony’) or odes to modernist artists Paul Nash (‘Marsh Personage’) each track is as desperate as it is restrained by the same conditions. Heavily reminiscent of FALLOUT and the more cerebral end of UK82, mercilessly taut and lyrically about as obtuse as you’d hope from punk songs about rare varieties of lichen. Some guy once said something about the need for pessimism of the intellect and optimism of the will in abject times, and this band amply proved the evergreen joy to be had in being a smart arse. Bury ‘Creeping Life’ under the rubble of the A3030 at Stonehenge when they start tunnelling, because this is one for the well-groomed future druids. Justified and ancient, ‘Creeping Life’ absolutely goes. (Bryony Beynon) 350 copies pressed on blue vinyl in a garish sleeve and with a fine looking insert. (Static Shock Records)

MALADIA “Sacred Fires” 12”EP stands on an abyss made of the hiss and fog of a thousand generated cassette demos and the murky despair of damaged electronics and overloaded amplifiers. Equal doses of raw punk from the Southern Hemisphere and 80s European hc punk influences mingle with harrowing and desperate vocal cries, echoing RUDIMENTARY PENI and NERORGASMO as if both bands were hanging out in the back seat of a tour van listening to ANTISECT on a boombox. Recorded in a pre-fire Fuzzbrain studios in oppressive mid summer heat, this will tear your turntable up! (Jonah Falco) (La Vida Es Un MUs Records)

This is the 2021 Re-Issue of "Cave-in!", widely considered as thee outstanding GRUESOMES album! The GRUESOMES are teen-trash gigants formed in 1985 and one our favourite garage rockers. The album is full of killer originals and couple awesome cover versions, soaked in the snarly vocals and punk fuzz guitars. Totally new artwork, tasty neanderthal grease by Furillo! (Alien Snatch! • Absolutely stunning debut full of pyroclastic smashers, this volcano will unleash rivers of lava melting your brain! BATTLEBEATS is the new garage-punk sensation and finally available on vinyl to enter your hit list! To cite Faster & Louder: "The sound here is raw and ferocious, with songs alternating between the wild, blown-out rock and roll of tracks like "You're My Wild One" and "I Wanna Break Away" and the snot-drenched rage of "She's So Overrated". This is exactly the way lo-fi garage punk ought to be: cheaply-recorded, brimming with untamed energy, and stripped to the essence of three-chord simplicity. Songs for the most part clock in under two minutes - and even at seventeen tracks, the album leaves me wanting more. Crank up the volume and make like the '90s never ended!" Andresa plays everything on his own - working with a guitar plugged into an overdrive pedal and a 15-watt amp, a floor tom-snare drum set, tambourine, and no bass. The band story sounds like a budget rock fairytale, young fanboy Andresa touring with prior band Japan, going to a bar after a show to meet his idol Fifi of TEENGENERATE! Showing drawings and pledge for song lyrics, Fifi is overwhelmed and happy to share the same instincts for rocknroll and power pop. Like a long lost ninja son, he suggest the band name for his new indonesian friend and BATTLEBEATS are born. He got his first 45 "You Stabbed Me In The Back" out on Post Party Deppression in the US in late 2020. You may have heard the chords before, but this Rock and Roll rawness is turning you inside out and you feel the TEENTRASH kid in you just going wild. • Punk parodists Splondgenessabounds achieved more than most in the early 1980s, with three chart hits, including a top-ten smash and another in the top thirty. Formed above a mini-cab office in Peckham, southeast London, they scored a contract with major label Deram through a Battle of the Bands contest, debut single B-side ‘Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps’ hitting number 7 on the singles chart in June 1980. An equally unlikely cover of Boer War saga ‘Two Little Boys’ hit the top thirty and initial single A-side ‘Simon Templar,’ based on the theme from The Saint, was also popular. This incredible debut album has each of these tracks and so much more, with plenty of fart songs and a closing dub of ‘Two Pints.’ This is the sound of the band at their magnificent best, a pick of the bunch for all Splondgs fans. • First time on vinyl for this legendary performance, recorded live at CBGB’s, December 1999. “I decided to create a website for the Ramones in 1999. Joey thought it would be cool to organize a show to involve their fans. It would be a contest and the winning band would get to play with Joey himself on vocals. They won the contest hands down, performed as Joey’s band and became a favorite band of mine. It was great to suddenly have all those new songs to get into. I realized I really liked these guys when I started listening to themafter hearing a Ramones CD and vice versa.” Arturo Vega, Ramones Art & Lighting Director, AKA “The 5th Ramone” Tracklist I Just Want To Have Something To Do I Don't Wanna Go Down To The Basement I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You Beat on The Brat Garden Of Serenity Blitzkrieg Bop (Hey Suburbia Records)
