  • Though not quite the shotgun blast of an album that its predecessor, "Feel the Darkness", was, "Blank Blackout Vacant" is nonetheless an ample testimony to Poison Idea's unbridled power and force. Suffused with enough hate, pain, and rage to fuel an entire army, Jerry A.'s vocals, positively dripping with bile and venom, certainly cement his ideas with passion and force. "Understated" is not a word that is possible to use with this band. Poison Idea, from their inception in the very early '80s through their terminal point, shone with bitter, violent power. Unlike most Poison Idea albums from the '80s, "Blank Blackout Vacant" doesn't rely on speed to get its point across. In fact, a song like "Forever and Always," with its loose, Aerosmith-like groove and its saxophone, presages the type of rock & roll that bands like Rocket from the Crypt would make years later. Many other songs reside in the same vein. The cover of the New York Dolls' "Vietnamese Baby" provides an interesting touch, amping up the original, while retaining its desperate, low-rent feeling. While not quite the bellowing, fire-breathing beast that is "Feel the Darkness", "Blank Blackout Vacant" is a more varied, eclectic piece of work from this veteran American hardcore band. - DELUXE REISSUE OF POISON IDEA's 1992 CLASSIC ALBUM - REMIXED FROM THE ORIGINAL ANALOG TAPES BY JOEL GRIND (of TOXIC HOLOCAUST) - DOUBLE LP INCLUDING: ORIGINAL LP & BONUS 10-TRACK ALBUM "Still-reigning heavyweight kings of Punk bodyslam forth another much awaited ring full of hot power presses from Hades... More hard rock and metal structuring that might piss off a few whiney purists that don't matter anyways... Great lyrics about what some may call the less pleasant side of existence, but POISON IDEA just call life... Real Rock-n-Roll bad boys that harness ten times the power your average Straight-Edge band could ever hope to achieve. " -FLIPSIDE, 1992 (TKO Records)
  • The Murder City Devils is the debut studio album by punk rock band Murder City Devils. It was recorded at Moon Studios, Olympia, and produced by Steve Wold. It was released in 1997 on Die Young Stay Pretty Records. Called “Seattle’s most raucous rock band” by Tom Scanlon of the Seattle Times, the Murder City Devils first played together in 1997. Their sound was fringe rock leaning toward punk, including loud guitars from Dann Gallucci and Nate Manny, haunting keyboards from Leslie Hardy, formerly of Hole, and screaming vocals from Spencer Moody. After putting out three albums with Sub Pop Records, and a United States and Canadian tour that lasted the better part of a year, the band broke up in 2001. (Die Young Stay Pretty Records)
  • One of the standout albums of 2021. It's everything you expected and more. Simply amazing. Dry Cleaning release their debut studio album New Long Leg on 4AD. The 10-track long-player, which includes ‘Strong Feelings’ and last year’s single ‘Scratchcard Lanyard’, was recorded over two weeks last summer at Rockfield Studios in rural Wales with producer John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding). Following on from their thrillingly taut 2019 EPs Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks and Sweet Princess, New Long Leg is more ambitious and complex, with Shaw’s spoken vocals tightly intertwined with the band’s restless instrumentals. With lyrics preoccupied by themes like dissociation, escapism, daydreaming, complicated feelings of love, anger, revenge, anxiety, the kitchen, lethargy, forgetfulness, and survival, Shaw says, “the title is ambiguous; a new long leg could be an expensive present or a growth or a table repair.” Dry Cleaning was formed by friends Tom Dowse, Nick Buxton and Lewis Maynard after a karaoke party in 2017 inspired a collaboration. They wrote instrumentally to begin with until six months later Florence Shaw, a visual artist, university lecturer and picture researcher by day – with no prior musical experience – turned up to a band rehearsal armed with reams of her own collected writing and a copy of Michael Bernard Loggins’ Fears Of Your Life to read out over the music. Before long she was the group’s frontperson, contributing words of her own, and serving as the perfect foil to the band’s music. (4AD)
  • Soaring, crashing guitars, heavy heavy monster drums pounding and circling, spirals of sound lifting into the stratosphere with the call and response of many voices travelling from an ominous rumble to a scream let loose. These boys are alchemists and they’ve turned the quicksilver live show fraught with emotion and passion into audio gold for their debut. (Dead Oceans)
  • ‘The soundtrack to the beautiful Wind River was first and foremost the incessant wind or the grieving silence of the snow,’’ Cave and Ellis said in a press release. ‘’Amid those elemental forces, we made a kind of ghost score where voices whisper and choirs rise up and die away and electronics throb and pulse.’ This score is instantly reminiscent of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ ‘Skeleton Tree’. (Lakeshore Records)
  • In 2018, four individuals came together to juxtapose a modern age of hardcore that had become heavy and metallic. Picking up the pace to tempos best suited for running in circles, combined with introspective and thought-proving lyrical content, BYSTANDER was born. 2018 saw the release of their self-titled 7” EP on Safe Inside Records, the addition of a fifth member, and some tours on the West Coast and Midwest of the United States. 2019 is the year that BYSTANDER will release their follow up 12” EP, and is also when the band will embark on their first tour of Europe with a stop at Fluff Fest. Featuring Greg Bennick of Trial and current and former members of Spirits, Test of Time, and Decline, Bystander has their sights set on becoming a positive force of change in the hardcore scene. They hope to leave the breakdowns behind, as they set forth with open minds for the future. (Safe Inside Records)

  • Gravity is very happy to announce the re-issue of the long out of print lp originally recorded in 1995. The quintessential powerviolence pioneers and originators, who have been cemented into cult status since their break up in 1997. Their sound was a brutal mix of complicated technical riffing and straight-up hardcore made by dual basses, noise boxes, and hardcore/prog drum beats. (Gravity Records)
  • In the tradition of the valedictory three-song 7", inaugurated by Youth Of Today's 1989 sendoff, "Disengage," Mindset has in the earliest days of 2016 staked a claim on record of the year with a farewell triptych of their own: "Nothing Less." A densely packed charge of pure explosive energy, the record - like one of Mindset's peerless live sets - arrives with astonishing force, shows us something we've never seen before and is suddenly over: a vanishing show of force and barely controlled chaos that awes, exhilarates and inspires - and lives forever in memory. The new music, backed by the best-in-the-business drumming of Daniel Fang, delivers all the speed, crunch and crescendo that made Mindset's full-length LP, "Leave No Doubt," a generational document. And the lyrics, as urgent and authoritative as ever, rise to the occasion of a last will and testament: reflective, free of regret and apology, and more wrenchingly personal than ever before. Mindset will soon be gone, but with "Nothing Less," they have defied us to forget them. (React Records)
  • BHC modern ape hardcore done right! Originally released as a 7" in 2010 on the back of their storming Raw Life 12" EP, this release gets a brand new deluxe look on a new format with remaster. The band have since gone on to release their Mob Justice LP on Revelation Records, so if you missed out the first time round, here's another chance to grab this anthem filled corker! There might be some extra goodies on there too... (Quality Records Records)
  • The first new legit 45 Grave studio album in 25 years. 45 Grave are widely credited with inventing the Goth scene with their dark, furious and sometimes blackly funny music, but they were also known for their excellent musicianship. The original 45 Grave disbanded in 1990 following the death of bassist Rob Graves. Flash forward 15 years: Dinah Cancer decided to reincarnate her legendary band and, after a few fits and starts, 45 Grave stabilized in 2010 with what she feels is undoubtedly the best line-up since the original: O.C. guitar legend Frank Agnew (formerly of the Adolescents, TSOL, etc) bassist Brandden Blackwell and drummer Tom Coyne. While the new album stays true to the horror punk sound the band is infamous for, there are also songs that show the diversity of sounds and musical styles that have influenced Dinah throughout her life. From start to finish, Pick Your Poison has something that will slay everyone. (Fronier Records)
  • For the first time ever on the 12? vinyl format is the 1984 demo by Orange County, California straight-edge hardcore stalwarts Uniform Choice. It features Patrick Dubar on vocals, Victor Maynez on guitar, David Mellow on bass, and Patrick Dyson on drums, the same line-up that would later go on to record the lauded Screaming For Change LP. Originally released in very limited quantities on cassette and later reissued as a double-7?/CD on Nemesis Records in the early-?90s, this is the first official re-pressing of this release in decades. This deluxe reissue includes a gatefold jacket featuring restored cover artwork, never-before-scene photos, a reproduction of the original demo lyric sheet, and a two-sided, 12? x 18? poster with a photo by famed SoCal punk photographer KRK on one side and rare artwork by Shawn Kerri (Circle Jerks, D.O.A., Germs) on the other. 2ND PRESSING: 560 CLEAR VINYL (Mankind Records/Nemesis Records/2018)
  • BUMBKLAATT | luctus | LP

    18.00 incl. tax
Blasting Metallic Hardcore from the Border of San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico, BUMBKLAATT have remained a constant of the Californian and Mexican Punk Scene since their formation by former members of CHICKEN FARM and RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIFE in the early 2000's. Empassioned screams swap hard and fast with gutteral growls over rocking guitar leads, crushing riffs and ferocious hardcore pummel ignited by speeding drum blasts. Following several well received EP's, This debut album was originally released by the band in a small edition sold primarily at shows. For first time in general distribution, This Deluxe Vinyl edition of "Luctus" on Prank features the full cover artwork by drummer Adrian Balderrama re-printed on a heavy weight sleeve with metallic inks, an exclusive sticker to the first pressing, a large 11" x 22" insert, hand stamped inner sleeve and download code. "Precision, speed, and volume coalesce in to one of the most bad-assed, rippingest, slayingest bands of the genre " - Razorcake. (Prank Records)
  • All Mod Cons from 1978 is where everything really came together for the Jam. The songs and the writing matured by leaps and bounds compared to This is the Modern World. Weller has some of his best work on this album including the beautiful ballad English Rose, the stumbling anger of the title track, and the chilling Down in a Tube Station at Midnight with it's rapid fire drums and funky walking bass lending a real sense of urgency to the story being unfolded by Weller. His social commentary here is biting and pissed off and though the music spread out in more directions with Weller building off his various influences (especially r&b), the spirit of the album is punk, through and through. a wonderful album that gets stronger with every listen and it remains one of the great original punk albums as well as one of the great British albums of all time. (Polydor/2006)
  • As is so often the case for overnight successes, the Jam rush-recorded their sophomore effort during a hurried schedule to capitalize on the debut. This, combined with Paul Weller's various personal distractions and temporary lack of interest, led to less than satisfying results, especially in comparison to 'In the City'. 'This is the Modern World' can be faulted for borrowed who licks, pale rewrites of the debut, somewhat cliched sloganeering, and unfinished ideas, but there were still some moments of inspiration, especially in more introspective Weller songs like 'Life from a Window' and 'I Need You (For Someone)' - both songs feature personal sentiments that the debut was clearly missing. 'This is the Modern World' is a flawed album by Jam standards, but it would certainly have received praise had it been released by another band. (Polydor/Hauppauge Pressing/1991)
  • THE JAM | in the city | LP

    20.00 incl. tax
In the year of punk, the Jam exploded onto the music scene with this seminal debut album. The raw, unfettered aggression of the band's approach was well in keeping with the spirit of the times, but the heart of their songs and sound lay in the mod movement of the mid-'60s (early Who, Creation, etc.). Singer / guitarist Paul Weller comes off like a cross between Joe Strummer and the young Pete Townshend, bashing unreservedly through Slow Down, one of the r&b tunes that inspired the original mods. Weller extols the virtues of frenzied dancing and nonconformist youth culture (Non-stop Dancing, Away From the Numbers) over the raging three-chord attack of bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler. The pure punk insouciance of his words and delivery is a perfect match for the raging but hooky 'arrangements,' which basically consisted of the band walking into the studio and blazing through their live set. Rickenbacker guitars never sounded so thick, and skinny ties never seemed less geeky. (Polydor – PD-1-6110)

  • MARKED MAN | ghosts | LP

    22.50 incl. tax
"Blurring the rawness and velocity of their self-titled debut with the slightly more developed songwriting "chops" of the last two, the Marked Men have truly delivered the best of both worlds. Since their debut album came out on Rip Off in 2002 (reissued in 2008 on Dirtnap!), the Marked Men have established themselves as one of the best, most distinctive, compelling, and instantly recognizable punk bands of the 2000's. They're also quickly becoming one of the more influential. Despite that, you can pop the needle on "Ghosts" for 5 seconds and instantly be left without a doubt as to whom you are listening. It ain't pop-punk. It ain't power-pop. It ain't KBD or '77 style punk. At this point, the Marked Men sound like absolutely no one but themselves. The bad news is that this will be their last album for a couple of years, as co-lead vocalist/guitarist/total musical genius Jeff Burke is currently living in Japan. The good news is that the band swears they are NOT broken up, just on extended hiatus. We couldn't possibly be more honored that the Marked Men saw fit to return to our humble label, and are looking forward to doing more stuff with them (and hopefully their new, as yet unformed bands) in the coming years!" (Dirtnap Records)
  • The second Black Randy single and a classic just like the debut. Black Randy was a talented lyricist whose work brims with irony and thumbs its nose at everything, even the L.A. proto-punk culture that spawned them. Black Randy & the Metrosquad were perhaps the wittiest band on the L.A. punk scene in the late '70s. Their sardonic humor and musicality still holds up well decades later, and is light years away from the regimented sameness of approach that afflicted L.A.-based punk bands that formed shortly after their demise. Originally released in 1978 on Dangerhouse Records, this single is a bonafide Los Angeles punk rock classic. This 4 song EP comes on black vinyl and is a faithful repro of the original pressing. Limited edition. (Dangerhouuse Records/Unofficial Release)
  • Black Randy and his Metrosquad were a supergroup of the Hollywood punk era: the line up included members of the Randoms, Eyes and the Dils as well as one of the other founding partners of Dangerhouse, David Brown. Black Randy was a tragic mixture of genius and self-abuse, known for writing lyrics in PCP/alcohol/diabetic stupors which mirrored the despair of the human condition in a way that deserved immortality. This classic EP that was released by Dangerhouse Records features 3 immortal LA punk rock cuts: “Trouble At The Cup, “Sperm Bank Baby”, & “Loner With a Boner”. Black vinyl. Limited edition. (Dangerhouuse Records/Unofficial Release)
