This is a limited edition of 300 hand numbered copies, on turquoise color, with an insert and a sticker. All paintings and works of art were made by Stephen John Bird (Jowe Head). Both songs are improvisations. Big Fish was written by Jowe Head, and Anna Blume is based on a poem of Kurt Schwitters died on 1948. Both tracks were recorded and mixed by Dave Morgan. The Hermitts are a band from the UK. Purveying glumcore fuzznuggets that are mostly in tune, they were formed in the long, tepid summer lockdown of 2021. They attempt to follow the long and fine British musical tradition of melodic parochial miserableness. Their songs have been compared to the likes of Guided by Voices, the Jesus and Mary Chain and various obscure shoegazing acts we're not quite sure ever existed. The Hermitts are the personal project of Matt Hicks, and if you remember his name, you are right as he was member of Horowitz, a band gave us some great songs like "The Drunks are Writing Punk Songs" and albums like "Popkids of the World Unite!". Crabber are a pure punk pop band from Hamburg. They have already release two albums on CD through Jigsaw records. Their members are: Oli on bass and vocals Uli on guitar Jens on guitar and Peter on Drums Oli, Uli and Peter were all members of Dr König Arthus, while Jens was member of The Legendary Bang and Kristallin, both on the magnificent Marsh Mariglod Records. The EP includes a punk pop tune inspired by a classic seventies composer, the Austrian Udo Jürgens, dedicated to Greek sun and wine. Anthrax are an English anarcho-punk band formed in Gravesend, Kent, England, in 1980. They recorded their first demo in 1981 and went on to release two 7" EPs on Crass Records and Small Wonder Records. They appeared on compilations released by Crass Records, Mortarhate Records and Fightback Records. Anthrax’s first new full-length release in almost ten years – has built an impressive critical reputation, including a glowing review in Louder Than War which heralded the album “an understated masterpiece”. Released by Grow Your Own Records, the eleven-song Serfs Out LP is available on vinyl, on CD and as a digital download from the label’s Bandcamp site. "Formed in 1984 in California, Détente were like those bright stars which shine for a moment and then explode. The initial line-up was Dawn Crosby (vocals), Dennis Butler (drums), Ross Robinson (guitars) and Steve Hochheiser (bass). Before the release of the full-length ‘Recognize No Authority‘, there were three demos and a lot of changes in the band’s line-up. Living and creating in a time and place where the heart of the underground thrash scene was beating fast, Détente really had the spirit and passion of their time. This can be recognized by anyone, not only by listening to their music, but by taking a look at their biography as well. The frequent changes in line-up, often combined with disagreements derived from spontaneous explosions of their characters, reveal that Détente was a band of original 80’s thrashers. This means, that they were part of the two music scenes which emerged at that time in the USA; punk and thrash, the so-called ‘crossover’. Making an impact through their demos and live shows, Détente signed with Roadrunner Records and in 1986 released ‘Recognize No Authority‘. Ten tracks which last 30-something minutes of pure 80’s crossover thrash. As the remaining members lately stated, ‘Recognize…‘ was not only an angry-to-be-angry album, but wanted to have a clear social and political substance. This is obvious, from the track titles, the lyrics of course, as well as the intro of some tracks, which are excerpts of news broadcasts. The track ‘Holy War‘, which has an amazing and catchy bass intro that really stands out, is about the war in the Middle East. ‘Blood I Bleed‘, a very emotionally strong track, is about the exploitation of women. Apart from the very good musical composition – quick and heavy riffs, which often slow down to give a more sinister atmosphere, heavy metal-ish solos, and hammering drums – what completes this album is the passion of Dawn Crosby. Her amazing punk-style vocals had a great range, and more importantly, showed genuine passion and anger. Dawn Crosby left the band after ‘Recognize…‘ and created Fear Of God with Michael Schäfer (ex-Fog). As the biography of Détente implies, Crosby was probably a true punk as an artist and a person. It is certain that she belonged to the “pantheon” of front-women of the heavy/hardcore music scene. Unfortunately, she died from complications due to alcohol and drug abuse in 1996 (age 33). After she left Détente, the band split up for a while and then reunited, releasing the album ‘Decline‘ in 2010, and then split up again. In 2014 the album was re-released by Xtreem Music, including the early demos. What is interesting is a statement from Roadrunner which applies perfectly to Détente: “some music was meant to stay underground”. Started during lockdown by three friends from Leeds, UK who wanted to make some crossover thrash, having been fans of the music for years, Pest Control is the classic story of DIY music straight from a time of crisis. Jack (from Death Metal bruisers Mortuary Spawn) joined soon after the release of the Demo in 2020 and the line up was complete with Pest Control’s first show commencing in their home town the week lockdown ended. Influenced by classic thrash giants such as Metallica, Testament etc. but with a healthy spoonful of crossover like Crumbsuckers, Ludichrist and Municipal Waste, the members grew up with one foot in the Leeds metal and hardcore scenes, taking the best from both worlds. Topping it all off, Leah’s powerful vocal reminds one of the great Dawn Crosby from Detente. For the recording of the LP they were joined by Luke on second guitar and now have a permanent second guitarist in the shape of Joe Williams (Big Cheese, Fate) and will be seen touring Europe with the almighty Foreseen, having already played across the UK with Municipal Waste, Eternal Champion and as well as appearances at Outbreak and Wrongside Fests. With this LP the band have truly shown their technical chops from the fast and furious title track to the almost operatic thrash style of The Great Deceiver. There is a fresh range of ideas and most importantly catchy songs for the Crossover Thrash fan to sink their teeth into. 2022 was certainly a memorable year for punk albums, with a number of releases I would consider to be new instant classics. Coming in at the final hour, the ANNIHILATED unleashed Submission to Annihilation, one of the year’s latest and greatest. Full-throated and raw, the ANNIHILATED play a similar strain of D-beat hardcore to BOOTLICKER, with a vocal delivery that has been correctly compared to Damaged-era Rollins. Lyrically, topics cover class warfare (“Divide and Conquer,” “Bootstraps”), widespread apathy (“Normality”), and the hell of substance abuse (“Vice Grip”), themes that are all uniquely modern and unfortunately timeless. Add to that the artwork from drummer Nicky Rat and mixing by Jonah Falco (whose seal of approval is always a sign of quality) and that it’s self-released(!), and it simply cannot be understated: the ANNIHILATED have ticked every box and delivered their own instant classic.
