  • Adventurous southern California punk trio Agent Orange was the first band to mix surf rock with punk. The group was formed in1l979 in Placentia, a small town close to Fullerton and Anaheim, by frontman Mike Palm on guitar and lead vocals, Steve Soto on bass and Scott Miller on drums. That early line up recorded the classic version of "Bloodstains" in 1979 as a demo produced by Daniel R. van Patten (of the group Berlin). A year later it was included on the seminal Rodney On The Roq compilation album released by Posh Boy Records. Meanwhile James Levesque had replaced Steve Soto (Adolescents) and the new line up released their own self produced and self released 7" ep in 1980. A year later, the group signed with Robbie Fields' Posh Boy Records for their debut LP Living In Darkness, co-produced by Fields and former Simpletones guitarist Jay Lansford. The album was recorded at Brian Elliott’s store front studio in North Hollywood (a few years before Elliott struck gold writing Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach”). • In 2018 Strength Records did the very first vinyl re-issue for the RIOT RIOT, UPSTART album. Last year Strength Records was disbanded but the friendly contact between Strength label owner Wouter (also running Rebellion Records) and Roger Miret remained. The 2018 re-issue sold out very quickly leaving an unfulfilled demand. Now here is a special 2022 CD edition this time presented by Rebellion Records. Different name, same people, even better quality! Providing yet another uncompromising mixture of fast, ferocious New York Hardcore and punk-rock sing-alongs, "RIOT RIOT UPSTART's" structure is very much alike "SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE". With a total of 17 songs, the tracklist offers a variety of stompers - barely clocking the 90 second mark, and street rockin' anthems such as title-track "Riot Riot Upstart" and "My Life", undoubtedly leaving producer Lars Frederiksen's (Rancid, The Bastards, Old Firm Casuals) mark on to this record! • "AGONI of Stockholm was one of the predecessors of modern D-beat and Scandinavian hardcore, playing in the heavier register such as SVART PARAD, BOMBANFALL, CRUDITY, DNA, HEADCLEANERS, ANTIBOFORS, DISARM, or DISCARD…but in some cases, several years prior to those bands. So, if any of that is of interest, this review is for you, and you already want or have this LP. AGONI was fucking heavy and fast, and pre-any of those categorizations. Just hardcore käng (känga “boot” crust) punk. Grumbling, furious bass and a calamity of drumming and distortion. An intonating furnace of vocals. Classic tumbling intros and tempo changes you hear all the time in a D-beat “Dis” band today. Not just today, ever since the mid-’80s, and all over the world! But AGONI, and their Swedish contemporaries, wrote that skit. The freshness is almost palpable; it sounds so sincerely constructed and musically destructed. The remastering of these three demos(!) and a live 1985 gig is outstanding. Not to get too far off track here, but if you watch ’80s skate videos and you see the look on the skater’s face when they are like, “What the fuck did I just do and land?,” you realize they were inventing something raw and powerful and always went as hard as possible —it was their scene to do so. That is what it’s like to listen to this compilation. Beautiful hardcore in its the purest and earliest form. No carbon copies here, actually writing the often-imitated fill stylings and riffs you hear today, seemingly happening on the exact take you are listening to. Those subtle imperfections in timing and dropping tone that make it so fucking punk. Side B (demo three) moves into their more thrash-crossover material, as bands of this style were doing then, but even their take retains hardcore roots in its hooks. This collection is essential! Alas, all the liner notes are in Swedish. Use your translation app or something, it’s not 1984—and don’t forget your band is not AGONI when you rehearse that two-second raw moment they did, but you’re still pretty good." https://www.maximumrocknroll.com/review/mrr-467/en-rost-for-fred-1984-1986-lp/ 100% Classic Stockholms Mangel! This LP contains all three AGONI (pre-Agony) demos including the long lost second demo and live material. Gatefold sleeve with extensive liner notes, photos etc. 250x Green vinyl. 1-7: Demo 1 (1985) 8-12: Demo 2 (1985) 13-15: Demo 3 The Future Is Ours (1986) 16-21: Live Ultrahuset 1985-03-31 (De Nihill Records)
  • After reissuing Colombian underground milestones such as Blasfemia, Restos De Tragedia and the iconic “Estamos en la sima” compilation, F.O.A.D. is back to digging into the obscure roots of the legendary Ultra Metal scene born in Medellín in the mid ’80s. This time it’s the turn of AGRESSOR, a pioneering, extremely raw unit delivering the ugly, barbaric sounds that were peculiar to that area and were portraying a nightmarish reality of crimes, drugs and misery. As some say “It’s not Metal, it’s not Hardcore… it’s ULTRA METAL“. Double LP anthology collecting all their 80’s recordings, consisting of: “Ensayo 1986” (early demo), recordings for “Rodrigo D. No Futuro” (1987), complete session at “Estudio Tiempos Modernos” (1987), live at Aeropuerto “Olaya Herrera“, 1987. Gatefold sleeve with rare photos, flyers and a detailed history (in Spanish and English) written in collaboration with the band’s guitarist Antonio Guerrero, explaining how – with the shittiest equipment and instruments – he managed to achieve that crude primitive sound that characterized not only Agressor but also other bands he was in (Sacrilegio and Masacre) and inspired hordes of death thrashin’ maniacs all over the world. Sheer caveman brutality channelled through the rawest Metal ever created! Black vinyl limited to 200. (F.O.A.D. Records)

REPRESSED! Their "demo" cd hit me by surprise and I really couldn't refuse to put this out! These folks come from Gothenburg in lovely Sweden and deliver the goods! The demo (minus 1 song though) that you'll find on this black piece of vinyl hold 4 times thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness every now and then. If you've ever wanted to know exactly how your favourite metal, crust, and doom bands would have sounded like if they were one band this is where you should turn. I won't namedrop anything, just ask you to take me on my word that you really need to check this out if you've been even the slightest intrigued with what's written above. Even though I could drop many influential names, as well as list several of your favourite Swedish crustcore bands in the "members of" department. (Kleister) (Skuld Records)
  • The wait was long, but now it's ready! A dignified follow-up of their first album! An intense Dolp from this dark crust band from Gothenburg. I haven't really enough words to describe this brutal yet twisted attack on my eardrums. Eight songs in just over 72 minutes(!) of death and blackmetal gloom with a healthy dose of crust punk influences leaving me speechless. The Double Lp comes in a beautiful gatefold with a foldout insert. CD version is being released in the US by Profane Existence. (Skuld Records)
  • Agrimonia’s sound could be described as the bastard child of the epic, bittersweet sounds of bands like Counterblast and Neurosis, together with the simplicity and murk of bands like Bolt Thrower and Bathory. Thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness "Rites of Separation" was recorded at Studio Fredman in Sweden by Fredrik Nordstrom in the winter of 2012/2013. • News from the front: ALGARA's first LP is here. From Barcelona, the land where the CNT-FAI shined in 1936, now the anarchist bombs explode again through the twelve tracks of "Absortos en el Tedio Eterno". Ever wondered what would have happened if the RONDOS and CRASS had joined forces at the Conway Hall or if AVIADOR DRO and ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO never had a couple of judo kicks and the four started a new band? Well, then you are close to imagining how ALGARA sounds. At times sparse militant punk a la CRISIS/ FALLOUT filtered thru the KGB/ SINIESTRO TOTAL machine. At times minimal synthetic idealist anthems, but always revolutionary, forward thinking, and making the sound their own. The anonymous collective self recorded "Absortos en el Tedio Eterno" in a Barcelona squat while engaging in their agitprop campaigns. With songs about poor working conditions, the constant evictions, youth unemployment, and a city consumed by tourism and other forms of gentrification, the LP is a cold call to arms for today’s political punk. The LP sleeve shows members of the collective at one of their rendezvous point looking cool. Comes with an A2 double sided poster, 14 page Manual for Sound Guerrilla booklet and a sticker. 'The Sound Of A' was written back in 1967, and was actually the first song Alice Cooper wrote entirely on his own. It was forgotten until Dennis Dunaway, the bass player of the original Alice Cooper band, rediscovered it and played it to Alice, after which the two of them updated the song and then recorded it for the "Paranormal" album. Channelling goth, ‘positive punk’ and industrial, Alien Sex Fiend are experimental pioneers whose output defies easy categorisation. Formed at London’s goth epicentre, the Batcave, in 1982, the Fiends’ early use of loops, synth sheens and a dub sensibility yielded a deal with Anagram and rapid chart success; this dynamite vinyl compilation, exclusive to Radiation Records, draws from six early singles, including the electrode mix of popular debut ‘Ignore the Machine,’ freaky dirge ‘Lips Can’t Go,’ minimalist stomper ‘Dead And Buried,’ the rocking excess of ‘R.I.P.,’ intergalactic ‘E.S.T.’ and the mutant disco of ‘I’m Doing Time.’ A killer set tracking their early evolution, this is absolutely essential listening for all ASF fans. • This is the band’s 9th studio release and their first new music in 5 years. Produced and mixed by Cameron Webb, Is This Thing Cursed? is the first Alkaline Trio album written almost entirely in the studio. It’s when the songs began to come together that the band noticed the new material forming parallels with Maybe I’ll Catch Fire. According to the band, Is This Thing Cursed? is a cousin or sibling to Fire. Co-lead vocalist and bassist Dan Andriano explains, “the songwriting process is almost like what it was back in the day. We would just kind of write a song, be excited about it, then move on. We wrote in that spirit in the studio. I really feel like we made a record that the old school fans are going to dig.” European version on 180 gram vinyl. (Epitaph / Heart And Skull Records)
  • “I’m gonna need you to fuck off.” These Portland noisemakers don’t mince words on their debut album. Nor are they just shooting off their mouths. Over the course of this eight-song, 20-minute firecracker they back up that shit-talk with an impressive arsenal of searing guitar licks, primal drumbeats and a singer who channels the rage and angst of classic British punk. But like those oldsters, they’re also clever enough to lace their tunes wtih plenty of catchy melodies, singalong choruses and razor-wire hooks. I’d say they come closer to living up to their name than you expect, but let’s face it: None of these songs will ever be hits, even though they absolutely should be. You can disagree with me on that. But if you do, I’m gonna need you to do something. THE PRESS RELEASE: “After a head-warping intro, Men And Their Work kicks into eight driving post-punk rockers full of angst, confidence, feminism, melody, grit and a sense of direction not commonly found in a debut album. Shit, most seasoned bands don’t even make albums this coherent. It’s a smart moniker as All Hits certainly lives up to the promise. There is a 60/40 split of familiar comfort and provocative mystery inherent in every song. You get shouted sloganeering backed with barbed melody and finessed power-ups massaged into the sweetest spots. We can’t put our finger on exactly what it is that makes this record so special but whatever it is there is a lot of it. Destined to be a modern classic. For fans of Wipers, Raincoats, early Wire and Sleater-Kinney.” (Iron Lung Records) https://ironlungpv.bandcamp.com/album/men-and-their-work-lp-lungs-160
  • For over 25 years, All Out War proves that age has only honed the band's capabilities on "Dying Gods" and drove the band to look toward to the next chapter in "Give Us Extinction." "Give Us Extinction" continues in the assault, but strives to unleash even more pummeling brutality. "Give Us Extinction," like the timelessly brutal albums "For Those Who Were Crucified" and "Dying Gods," was engineered and produced by Steve Evetts (Hatebreed, Turmoil, Buried Alive, Suicide Silence) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Studios in New York. (Organized Crime Records)
  • Features a song from the God Is War album "Extinction Is Ours". Also contains the unreleased death dirge "Curse of Humanity". Track Listing: 01. Curse Of Humanity 02. Extinction Is Ours (Nonbeliever Records)
