Coming up in the late 80’s in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake/Echo Park scene, L7 drew from a diverse set of in uences: Motörhead, Ramones, feminist Bay Area punks Frightwig. They made fun of the Sunset Strip’s bouffants and machismo while playing the same kinds of ying-V guitars. They also had no patience for grunge’s gloom, even though their friends were in bands like Nirvana, Mudhoney and Soundgarden. The debut studio album by the British mod revival band, originally released in 1977. In the year of punk, the Jam exploded onto the music scene with this seminal debut album. The raw, unfettered aggression of the band's approach was well in keeping with the spirit of the times, but the heart of their songs and sound lay in the mod movement of the mid-'60s (early Who, Creation, etc.). Singer / guitarist Paul Weller comes off like a cross between Joe Strummer and the young Pete Townshend, bashing unreservedly through Slow Down, one of the r&b tunes that inspired the original mods. Weller extols the virtues of frenzied dancing and nonconformist youth culture (Non-stop Dancing, Away From the Numbers) over the raging three-chord attack of bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler. The pure punk insouciance of his words and delivery is a perfect match for the raging but hooky 'arrangements,' which basically consisted of the band walking into the studio and blazing through their live set. We have been working on this one for a while now and we are thrilled to finally announce it. This is a live LP from D.C.'s legendary hardcore band Faith! Recorded live in December of 1981, opening for the Bad Brains, this LP is 2 complete sets and it captures the bands incredible live energy. This is early, raw hardcore at it's best. All photos are by Glen E Friedman, who was at the show and went on to shoot everyone from Minor Threat, the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Guy Picciotto from Fugazi traveled with the band for the show and had this to say... "The Faith were one of the best live bands DC ever produced. It's with great pleasure that we announce the Swedish raw punk legends ANTI CIMEX have finally reached the joyful lands of Agipunk. On this record we're collecting in chronological order all the demos and the studio recording sessions that haven't been released on any official release so far. A total of 29 tracks that originally appeared on "K.A.A.S January 1982", "K.A.A.S April 1982", "En Produkt Av Dagens Skitsamhälle" tapes plus the studio session right before the "Raped Ass" 7" EP and the discarded recordings for the full length that never saw the light and eventually became the "Victims Of A Bomb Raid" 7" EP. All you Cimex maniacs out there probably already know most of the songs, but you'll definitely find a bunch of extremely obscure tracks which I bet you've never heard before. It is this juxtaposition of almost etherial and intricately delicate melodies and the underlying crushing crust hardcore that is so evocative. Remains of the day perfectly captured the sound of an abandoned world of forgotten things; of expanses of pylons and withered trees, of cities lost to nature. Worcester, Massachusetts-based crossover outfit HIGH COMMAND set out on a warpath to create the heaviest work they have produced yet on their debut full-length and Southern Lord debut, Beyond The Wall Of Desolation. HIGH COMMAND is, in their own words, “five friends coming together to create the sonic equivalent of a barbarian horde.” The band’s lyrical world, created by vocalist Kevin Fitzgerald, is steeped in lore and savagery, heavily inspired by fantasy-based warfare, and in the band’s words, “boundless quests frozen in the aeons of time and space hacked out of ice and transcribed in lightning. Beyond the thin vail of sanity lies the forgotten age of mysticism and heroes.” Their studio choice for such proceedings was the legendary Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, constantly challenging the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of recorded media. From hearing previous projects recorded there (, The Body, Big Brave and Churchburn to name a few) it was apparent to the band that this was a studio that had a focus on the unique and the organic. Seth Manchester, the head engineer, worked tirelessly for the week HIGH COMMAND was there, sculpting a record with a healthy respect to the Old Gods of metal they admire while at the same time, sonically speaking, also carving a realm of its own. The eight bludgeoning tracks on Beyond The Wall Of Desolation cleave the tender cranium of the listener asunder across their forty-three-minute running time. Bringing forth the undeniable heft in their self-proclaimed New Wave Of Worcester Heavy Metal, the heaviest of armament is advised against the flail. MISERY don't really need an introduction do they? Along with NAUSEA and APOCALYPSE they spearheaded the American crust-punk scene since the late eighties and here they are to unleash 14 tracks of frantic bulldozer crust punk including two covers from the AMEBIX and NEW MODEL ARMY. MISERY having been prophesizing the end times while blasting our ears for the last 25 years now. 25 years and only three full-lengths. One of the best and most underappreciated albums to emerge from the legendary Finnish Punk explosion. 013 were an amazing short-lived but hugely influential Finnish band. They were all the more amazing for having a sound and spirit all their own. A truly pure Punk underground sound inspired by the sounds of 77 and 78, loaded with catchy as fuck cool guitars and melodic vocals made every song instantly memorable. The three-piece from Pukkila, Finland, originally appeared on the now sought after collectable Propaganda EP released in 1981 and the legendary Russia Bombs Finland compilation LP released the following year. The band’s only album was the Takaisin Todellisuuteen LP which was released on Propaganda Records in 1983, and the band split up shortly afterwards. Sarcasm's final offering is the much-needed shot in the arm you don’t even have to queue for. Sonically their six-track EP is a potent mix of the ignorant anarcho clatter and arch post(-graduate) punk you already love them for, but moreso. Picture UK DECAY squatting the Barbican. Still eschewing distortion for a truly inspired use of phase, the cavernous production (another Falco joint) will leave you staring at a city trader until he switches carriages. Whether it's echo-laden pronouncements on our worst instincts for techno addiction (‘Digital Colony’) or odes to modernist artists Paul Nash (‘Marsh Personage’) each track is as desperate as it is restrained by the same conditions. Heavily reminiscent of FALLOUT and the more cerebral end of UK82, mercilessly taut and lyrically about as obtuse as you’d hope from punk songs about rare varieties of lichen. Some guy once said something about the need for pessimism of the intellect and optimism of the will in abject times, and this band amply proved the evergreen joy to be had in being a smart arse. Bury ‘Creeping Life’ under the rubble of the A3030 at Stonehenge when they start tunnelling, because this is one for the well-groomed future druids. MAYHEM came from the environment of BLITZKRIEG and THE INSANE with whom there were personnel overlaps. Originally the band started rehearsing with a bunch of mates who used to hang out at the legendary Eric's Club in Liverpool, where they often went to matinee shows on Saturdays. MAYHEM existed from about 1979-1986, but put out their last record in 1985. The record blasts out of the speakers with such a chaotic energy that you just can't sit or stand still, it encourages you to destroy precious things. Relapse Records, in a collaboration with Cherry Nishida, are proud to present AGONY憎悪REMAINS, a collection unearthing all of the material from Nishida's legendary Japanese hardcore band ZOUO, as well as 4 死 Death, a brand new album from Nishida's current outfit, S∴h∵i. Originally formed by friends of a local skateboard crew in the early 80's, ZOUO quickly became torchbearers for Japanese hardcore punk at the time. The band's music was a direct reflection of their collective frustrations and takes on their culture; the lyrics detailed the bands hatred for "societal hypocrisies and existing religions." ZOUO's debut The Final Agony 7" remains a landmark release to this day - tracks such as "Sons of Satan" and "Making Love with Devil" showcase some of the most raw and evil punk to ever emerge from the underground. Following ZOUO's releases, mastermind Cherry Nishida delved deeper into Japanese hardcore, forming DANSE MACABRE - a band solely dedicated on honing into the psychology of a serial killer. Nishida now returns with S∴h∵i (Struggling Harsh Immortals). Wishing to break from the genre's confines. S∴h∵i's new discordant take on rock, metal, and punk, infuses industrial elements and noise with a stark audio/visual presentation. An evolution of his prior material, S∴h∵i is directly correlated to Nishida's views on the human condition and the human minds he finds to be "unconsciously derived and mutated." Everything Sucks is the fifth studio album by American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1996 through Epitaph Records. It was their first album of new studio material since 1987's All, after which singer Milo Aukerman had left the band to pursue a career in biochemistry. The remaining members (bassist Karl Alvarez, guitarist Stephen Egerton, and drummer Bill Stevenson) had changed the band's name to All and released eight albums between 1988 and 1995 with singers Dave Smalley, Scott Reynolds, and Chad Price. When Aukerman decided to return to music the group chose to operate as two acts simultaneously, playing with Aukerman as the Descendents and with Price as All. The first side of the album starts with Venid A Ver and doesn’t let up until the Phil Spector esque Cuando Me Muera. Flip over and it’s straight back to the upbeat gems, which just keep coming until the final track Romance De Lobos which ends the album in a more reflective album. Radiation Roots present a reissue of Pavement's self-titled album, originally released in 1969. Pavement's sole long-player is the stuff of legend, a record so rare that in-the-know vinyl connoisseurs have questioned its very existence. As one of the many vinyl anomalies of the day, Pavement's obscure story is very much about a particular place and time, in this case, the fringes of the multi-cultural London music scene that existed at the tail end of the swinging sixties. According to the liner notes of the original LP, Pavement was formed in 1968 after "Dexter Pat and John had left their original group," and "Tony and George left theirs to unite with them." Then, "an express letter to Beirut brought Mick, who was playing there at the time." We are told that these musicians were "digging the solid soul sounds" and "the exciting rhythms of the Caribbean, ska and reggae," and after two months of steady rehearsals, the band "launched themselves into the rat race of popular music" in November 1968. They supposedly had so much success as a warm-up act after playing up and down the country in support of various unnamed groups that they were "soon being booked as top of the bill," hence the need for this. Pavement's self-titled debut album was the first LP released by Crystal, the subsidiary of President Records that was established in 1968 by Jack Price, a songwriter and harmonica player that had just replaced Siggy Jackson as label manager at Melodisc Records. Price had his finger in a number of different pies: in addition to promoting Melodisc's ska and reggae catalogue, he was soon to produce the ground-breaking various artists album Rock Steady Hits Of 69 for Fontana with London-based reggae performers, which helped bring Caribbean rhythms into non-specialist music shops for the very first time, and enjoyed the publishing on The Cats' massive "Swan Lake" 45, a hugely successful pop-reggae adaptation. Jack also ran a recording studio of his own, reputedly the first London facility with eight-track recording equipment. The original liner notes suggested that we should "rest assured that there will be more singles and albums to come from this refreshing group" and that "this news will please a lot of people." Of course, things didn't quite work out that way. This reissue reminds that reggae, soul and other foreign forms were spicing up the London music scene as the 1960s drew to a close. (Radiation Roots)

Hunter were formed during the summer of ‘79 in the Isle Of Wight. The original line up consisted of Jon Amor on vocals, Ian Hargreaves on bass/backing vocals and brothers Clive and Hugh Kim Lewis on guitar and drums, respectively. They had a different sound to the new wave music of the era, centering mainly around driving bass riffs and choppy guitar. Most of the material they played were their own songs. They rehearsed extensively and made their live debut on 22nd December 1979 supporting the Pumphouse Gang at Lakeside Inn. Not long after Hugh departed the band to join Flirt (later Cassie) and Chris Lines took his place on the drums. The new line up did some more live gigs and went into Tim Muncasters 4 track studio in East Cowes to record some songs. A short while after the band split up. (Rave Up records)

Επιλεκτικές δισκογραφικές δουλειές, το 1997 με 2 7ίντσα (“Hard Lovin” και “Out Tonite”), άκρως επιτυχημένες συμμετοχές σε compilations και fanzines, ενώ οι ζωντανές τους εμφανίσεις ακριβοθώρητες κι αυτές, δημιουργούσαν πάντοτε αίσθηση, κυρίως στις αρχές της περασμένης δεκαετίας, προκειμένου να δημιουργήσουν ένα νέο κύμα στο είδος, που ζυμώθηκε από τις μελωδίες τους και την βιωματική, ποιητική, ιδιόμορφη στιχουργική τους, χτίζοντας έτσι το μύθο των The Hydes, ως σημείο αναφοράς. Το “Self Preservation Instinct Zero”, περιλαμβάνει 13 πρωτότυπες συνθέσεις, οι οποίες ηχογραφήθηκαν την περίοδο 2002-2006 στο δικό τους studio, το “House Of Kicks” (το οποίο αποτελεί “αξία” για τα rock ‘n’ roll πεπραγμένα της πόλης) και αποδεικνύεται ότι όσα χρόνια κι αν περάσουν, το ατόφιο rock ‘n’ roll ακούγεται φρέσκο, επίκαιρο και συναρπαστικό.
