• The second Album from this Minneapolis trio -- a strikingly-hyper-punk-rock-conundrum. Seriously, Citric Dummies have a LOT to say on this LP, be it worthwhile advice or not, but it's all done with an excellent tongue-in-cheek bravado. Oh yeah, the music - it's a trebly, garage-leaning mess that seems to catapult between backing the obnoxious dual-vocal assault and ramping up the speed towards a proto-hardcore feel at times. Strangely enough, it's taken this long for a band to remind me of Henry Fiat's Open Sore (check those mad Swedes out for extra credit if you haven't!) but between the snappy arrangements and lyrical genius, Citric Dummies may very well win an endearing spot in yer collection. I get the same kinda dumb, personable feeling while listening to this as say...Angry Samoans. Real music for the proles, eh? The Dummies receive bonus points for their highly apt usage of parentheses in song titles and stunning full color artwork from Nathan Ward. Out of the ashes of Brain Tumors comes the Dummies, the Citric ones. Brain Tumors was pretty good, but man... Citric Dummies are way, way better. I really have no idea how to describe their sound... I mean it's definitely hardcore, but it has these really distinctive vocals that are kinda-sorta melodic most of the time, but often erupt into these big sing-song choruses that really don't sound like much of anything I've ever heard. Jerky punk guitar driven calamitous tunes with hyper yet clear and tuneful vocals hurling toilet lyrics and an attitude that is also of-the-toilet. Its an album! An album whose grooves are densely packed with the sounds of angry nerds propelling their rotten attitudes down deep into the basement. The punk basement. ATTENTION! This does not sound like Devo or Sheer Mag. Buy and fry. Label: Erste Theke
  • Barcelona's CIUDAD LINEAL finally deliver the follow up to their fantastic demo from 2013. A full length album of dark minimal wave heavily influenced by EL AVIADOR DRO Y SUS OBREROS ESPECIALIZADOS, THE NORMAL or CABARET VOLTAIRE. Armed with a bass guitar, drum pad, a keyboard and two synths CIUDAD LINEAL manage to create a conceptual piece around the idea of progress and industry as opposing forces. El Nuevo Hombre is divided into two parts each one comprising one side of the album. The A side being "The Splendor" and the B side "The Fall" joined by a speech symbolizing Mankind's awakening. The album throws shades of JOY DIVISION, DECIMA VICTIMA or even THE RESIDENTS leaving behind absolute hits like the freezing cold opening track "Horizonte" or "Industria" which to these ears is the closest anyone has ever came to being part of the LOS INICIADOS/FRACCION DEL EJERCITO ROJO/ AVIADOR family. While CIUDAD LINEAL'S sound is certainly rooted in the early 80's synth explosion the band remains fresh due to their lyrical approach as well as their DIY ethos. The LP was recorded at La Cova De la Bestia by Daniel Muerte and comes housed in a beautifully put together sleeve and insert designed by the band and printed on heavy 350 gsm reverse board. Limited and hand-numbered to 1000 copies. Includes lyric sheet. Track B7 is a bonus track. Without a label deal, CJ wrote and recorded his debut solo album, Reconquista, the old school, DIY way, with assistance from Steve Soto of the Adolescents and a number of other punk rock luminaries lending their musical chops. With an album that had the honesty and sound that so many Ramones copycats just never got right, along with instant classics like “What We Gonna Do Now” and his heartwarming tribute to Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee, “Three Angels,” CJ Ramone cemented his place in Ramones history. And it was only the beginning. Back in 2012, CJ Ramone and long time Ramones crew member Gene Frawley asked us to help get his debut solo album out there, making sure CJ had records to sell when he hit the road. This wasn’t a Ramones nostalgia trip—though of course CJ and his band obliged the fans with the requisite classics—this was a mission to write and record albums in his own right, that could sit proudly in a Ramones fan’s collection; carrying on the legacy left by his fallen brothers. If you’ve ever spent any time in the darkest recesses of the internet, you’ll know that ‘powerpop’ is an emotive term. For every pockmarked tenderfoot flying the flag for some fuzzed-out alterna-rocker’s harmony-drenched new single, there’s a grizzled veteran insisting that there’s not enough jangle, not enough hook, not enough oomph on display (‘I hear the pop, but where’s the power?’). Basically, if you thought ‘what is punk’ was a granular debate, trust me: you ain’t seen nothing yet. Anyway, sidestepping the fact that I clearly am one of their kind, let’s just say a quick ‘fuck those nerds’. This is where Class come in. Class are a four-piece from Tucson, AZ, who are most assuredly all the power, all the pop, all the time. They’ve served time in a bunch of bands you already know and love – most notably everyone’s favourite ‘delinquent slobs’ Rik And The Pigs – and Matt Rendon of their citymates The Resonars is the guy behind the mixing desk, so you know whatever comes out is gonna be good. ‘2-4-1’ compiles the two cassettes they’ve released on Cincinnati’s Feel It Records (which also released their debut LP proper, ‘Epoca De Las Vaqueros’) and it’s absolutely rammed with new pop classics. ‘Steady Hands’, ‘Wrong Side Of Town’, ‘Inspect The Receipt’, ‘Left In The Sink’… get learning these titles now, ’cause you’re gonna get very well acquainted when you spin ’em until your needle’s worn down to a flattened-out nub. Sound-wise, it’s pop music as envisioned by the punks – straight to the point, no fucking about. Some of these songs feel like Alex Chilton playing ‘September Gurls’ on a curious cocktail of cheap speed and wayyy too much sugar; others are kinda like the aforementioned Resonars if they ditched their British Invasion records and got obsessed with a heady mixture of The #1s and Richard Lloyd’s ‘Alchemy’. Sometimes it just sounds like a forgotten late 70s punk classic, so I think we’re all in the right place here. It’s scuzzy and scuffed up in all the right places, with blazing guitar solos and crashing drum fills designed to get you where you need to go, with a minimum of fuss. ‘Class’ is an apt name. As you’d expect from a band with three vocalists, there’s more than one style at play here, meaning this record pulls from enough varying strands to keep things interesting without sounding unfocused. There’s no time to get bored, unlike when reading my drivel. What the fuck are you waiting for? This is power pop at its best, punk at its funnest, a whale of a time in less than 30 minutes. Let the nerds wage war on each other – clearly, I’ll be reading it – and claim your own victory by playing this one to death. This band are in a class of their own, and if I’ve not laid it out explicitly enough, you need to start listening. Now. Label: Drunken Sailor Records
  • Class of Tucson AZ - instantly familiar, idiosyncratic to the max, a glorious collision in which several of American punk’s leading lights emerge from their vehicles unscathed (though I make no promises for the rest of you, see below). What more can I say about 2022’s most eagerly anticipated full-length album? ( a bit more as it turns out, which is fortunate as my fee is pretty expensive, onerous, even) These songs have the requisite crunch / glue ratio and more than anyone else in their idiom, remind me of moments that don’t happen nearly enough, in rock, in life, when your eyes are closed, anywhere. I don’t think it’s a huge stretch to presume the persons responsible for these gems are keen students of the last 40+ years of underground/overground sounds (the good shit anyway), but there’s a singular voice, a defined worldview if you will, somehow cutting through our bland, brutal, grim as fuck moment in history. If you think I’m building Class up a bit much, I can promise you this — there’s at least a half dozen people I know who will hear this record and immediately fall into the throes of a deep depression because they’re _not in this band_ . And if you’re wary of being hyped-2-death, spare a thought for me for just a minute. I’m the one who’s gonna have to talk them off a ledge (figuratively, it’s mostly single stories in this part of the country). -Gerard Cosloy (Feel It Records)

Clive Culbertson was bassist in Irish band Sweat/ No Sweat who put out a couple of Thin Lizzy inspired power pop singles, on the excellent Rip Off Records, in the late 70's. In the early 80's Clive went solo and released this infectious power pop two sider on Rip Off Records. Two absolute killer tracks on this reissue, with "Time To Kill" and "Busy Signal". Harsh and speedy Powerpop! Very rare powerpop & punk gem! (Mad Butcher Records)
  • "Pestilent Planet is the debut 7 track album from Berlin’s Clock of Time and it’s released a mere 8 months after they played their first gig. The band comes fully formed and up to speed but that is not surprising considering some of the members other projects such as Diat, Vexx and Useless Eaters. Pestilent Planet is a stunning statement of intent. The sound is a driving mix of post punk like Jeopardy era The Sound, and that classic 80’s death rock that Vex and Arch Criminals perfected. It’s instant and urgent especially tracks like 'Rotten Master' which has a fuller Joy Division esque vibe especially in the skeletal guitar hook. It will be love on first listen." Michigan-based grindcore cult heroes Cloud Rat return with Pollinator, the band's most intense and blistering recordings to date.Over the past ten years, Cloud Rat has established itself as one of the most compelling bands in the underground. Over a staggering number of releases – four full-length albums, eleven EPs and splits, a live album, and various other comps, in one decade – the Michigan band has made a name for itself via sheer emotion and musical freedom.NPR Music called Cloud Rat's 2013 album, Moksha, "a feral, fearsome and fearless piece of work." Noisey described a live show in 2015 with these words: "Cloud Rat is one of those rare bands whose music connects instantly, painfully – you feel the words, the riffs, and the all-consuming cacophony deep within the marrow of your bones, vibrating out into a hostile world."Emerging from the space where hardcore punk spirals into grindcore, Cloud Rat is that and so much more. The band knows no limits and incorporates influences from across the map – black metal, noise, doom, goth, folk, and beyond – all while retaining its realness and urgency. Cloud Rat have taken grind to the next level on Pollinator, and it's vicious. Label: Artoffact Records – AOF282 Barcode: 628070628285

There's certainly that "crust" touch to this band, what with their leanings towards a driving tempo extremely reminiscent of "Victim Of A Bomb Raid" era ANTI-CIMEX and just a touch of a more serious side of SORE THROAT and faster/thrashier DISCLOSE...now you know something, another high quality crust /d-beat release. Comes with nice lyricsheet and is housed in an inside/ out 350 gr. cover. Label: Power It Up
  • 2024 sees the release of Cock Sparrer’s eighth studio album, Hand On Heart. The release of new material from this legendary band is always an event, a celebration, and an addition to the canon of classic punk rock. After over 50 years as one of the most influential punk bands on the planet, this album may just be their final word…although they thought the same of 2017’s Forever, and it turned out there was still lots more to say after all! The 10 tracks that comprise Hand on Heart will thrill the Cock Sparrer faithful with their iconic, anthemic sound, but the band still has surprises and new tricks up their sleeves, including a string arrangement by Simon Dobson (Bring Me The Horizon / Mike Oldfield) that lends a touch of class to the affair. With production overseen by James Bragg & guitarist Daryl Smith, as well as mastering by Grammy-winning engineer Kevin Tuffy, the lads sound better than ever, and for once, more of the budget went into the studio than down the pub! Label: Randale

Some records so perfectly capture an artist at a critical point in their creativity, and make such an impact, that they become not just synonymous with the band, but an essential piece of music history. Such is the case with Shock Troops, the album that not only became Cock Sparrer’s most acclaimed record, but a defining moment for Oi!, punk rock, and underground music in general! Originally released by Razor Records in 1983, Shock Troops proved to consist of song after song which would each become anthems of the burgeoning Oi! scene and far beyond. From the opening of “Where Are They Now?” on through “Take ‘Em All,” “We’re Coming Back,” all the way to the closing chords of “Out On An Island,” there isn’t a song in the bunch that any self respecting punk rocker can’t shout along to. These working class anthems are just as vital today, as proven by the crowds of beloved fans worldwide that continue to go wild at Sparrer’s live shows, where Shock Troops tracks still make up the heart of their setlists. Tracklist: 1 Where Are They Now 2 Riot Squad 3 Working 4 Take 'Em All 5 We're Coming Back 6 Watch Your Back 7 I Got Your Number 8 Secret Army 9 Droogs Don't Run 10 Out On An Island Bonus Tracks 11 England Belongs To Me 12 Argy Bargy 13 Colonel Bogey (Captain Oi! – AHOY CD 4)

Remixed and remastered, this includes all of the tracks that were recorded for their debut with Decca, only uncut with all the count-ins and banter in between. Previously released on CD by Captain Oi! as Rarities, this record is like a snapshot of being in the studio with COCK SPARRER during the very early days. As would be expected with such an amazing band, many of these songs have held strong through decades of new music and continue to reign as many of the “hits” they still perform today. Greatest Hits Vol. 1" is the first album by the Punk/Oi! legends Cockney Rejects, originally released in 1980. Despite the title, it is not a greatest hits compilation. Though they didn’t get around to (allegedly) naming the genre of Oi! until their second album, working class football hooligans Cockney Rejects went a long way towards defining the sound. The raw street punk on the cheekily titled "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" dismisses English punk’s art-schooled class of ‘77 to embrace the everyday Brit who drinks a pint or two while watching his favorite football team. Label: Let The Eat Vinyl
  • Unheard Rejects 1979-1981 is a collection of demo tracks recorded between 1979 and 1981 by the mighty Cockney Rejects. 12 songs from the first era, their first steps inside the 77 punk movement that them and others bands like UK Subs or Sham 69 helped to build. Here you can find the rudest Cockney Rejects songs with some The Clash's influences in some reggae riffs but without losing energy or sounding soft. This record was originally released under the Wonderful World label and now Beat Generation. Limited edition LP, 500 copies only. (Beat Generation Records)

Victorialand, Cocteau Twins’ fourth album, was released in spring 1986. The largely acoustic, non-percussive album was made with Elizabeth and Robin, while Simon was working on This Mortal Coil's second album. Dif Juz label mate Richard Thomas guested on tabla and saxophone. The Guardian said "It’s not quite ambient, but it’s definitely not rock’n’roll even by the Cocteaus’ standards, building on the moments of guitar shimmer from the previous years’ EPs, while also stripping back at points to where it’s nothing but a Guthrie guitar line and Fraser’s voice." 140g black vinyl, audio remastered from the original analogue tapes and with art faithful to their original 23 Envelope designs.
