When the New York Dolls released their debut album in 1973, they managed to be named both "Best New Band" and "Worst Band" in Creem Magazine's annual reader's poll, and it usually takes something special to polarize an audience like that. While New York Dolls clearly came from a very specific time and place, this album still sounds fresh and hasn't dated in the least -- this is one of rock's greatest debut albums, and a raucous statement of purpose that's still bold and thoroughly engaging. PROTO-PUNK CLASSIC ON 180GR VINYL! (Vinyl Lovers Records ‎/ Lilith Records)
  • Before these pre-punk heroes recorded their somewhat slick Mercury LPs, they went into a NYC studio to lay their vicious sound on tape-the same sound they were currently churning out at the Mercer Street Arts Center. This is an incredible artifact, a chance to hear the Dolls (with first drummer Billy Murcia, who died soon after of an overdose) at their ferocious best, playing Personality Crisis; Bad Girl; Frankenstein, and more. (ROIR 2002)
  • Recorded 3 months after the death of front man Ian Curtis; these are the first New Order demos made after the end of Joy Division. "Are You Ready" (a collaboration with label mates Cabaret Voltaire) and the track "Homage" are previously unreleased and all songs are quite different from their 12" versions.

  • Nekra’s ripping and long awaited follow up to their demo blisters and pummels through five tracks of punishing punk. Tight tempo changes bracket blasted, buzzing guitars, rumbling bass, reckless drumming, and powerful vocals. Five tracks and no mercy! – Jonah Falco (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)
  • Led by crazed frontwoman Jenny Angelillo and guitarist George Rager, and recently relocated to Los Angeles from San Francisco, the Neighborhood Brats are joined on this record by the new rhythm section of Tommy Branch and Richie Cardenas. The new lineup tears through 3 originals (The title track is actually a re-worked version of the b-side of the Roofie And The Nightstalkers lone 7”, Jenny and George’s short lived pre-Neighborhood Brats project.) and a Go-Go’s cover, all to ferocious effect. Neighborhood Brats are one of our very favorite current bands, and we are beyond excited to release this EP! (Taken By Surprise)
  • On NIGHT SHIFT, Neighborhood Brats’ first release since 2014 is a return to original form without repeating or compromising the past. The A side title track is a first-rate NB classic, paying homage to the RUNAWAYS, STOOGES and the SAINTS. Side B features a collaborative writing effort by vocalist JENNY ANGELILLO and guitarist GEORGE RAGER, in an AVENGERS meets RADIO BIRDMAN slammer. Captivated by an NPR story of WWII-era COMFORT WOMEN and echoing the current #MeToo movement, Angelillo shouts “I’m not the one,” implicitly stating FUCK THAT SHIT TO SEXISM AND THE PATRIARCHY. (Taken By Surprise)
  • Neighborhood Brats return with their second full length record, and let’s just start by saying it’s a scorcher. The band plays a brand of punk that, had they existed in 1977, would have been right at home on Dangerhouse Records alongside The Bags and The Avengers. That said, “Claw Marks” might just be the first Neighborhood Brats records that truly captures and urgency and energy of the band’s chaotic live show. The record finds the band at the top of their game in terms of songwriting, musicianship, and lyricism. So much so that lead singer Jenny Angelillo says that there are several songs on the album that could easily be her epitaph. “Claw Marks” is an upbeat but beaten down soundtrack to the dystopian nightmare we find ourselves living in. When the band sings “It’s time to check out/We’re being left out” it sounds like a mantra for our time, while the album closes with Jenny singing “Dance with me/Bones, blood, And teeth/Dance with me/Into the Void” over a reverb drenched guitar line provided by the band’s other core member, George Rager, that sounds like it was lifted out of some post-apocalyptic western. It’s all so fucking perfect.  (Taken By Surprise Records) https://neighborhoodbrats.bandcamp.com/album/claw-marks

The debut-album by the historic hc group from Turin, originally released in 1986 by Konkurrel in Holland and Mordam in the United States, then reissued in 1989 by T.V.O.R. (Italy), and now by Contempo. Rightly considered one of the absolute masterpieces of European hc/punk, 'Lo Spirito Continua...' is now completely remastered from the original tapes by famous sound engineer Ale Sportelli, longtime collaborator of the band in the early days. An essential hc masterpiece! (Contempo Records)

Official reissue this Canadian hardcore classic, originally released in 1986. Negative Gain was founded in Toronto, Ontario by Peter Warner who wrote all of the lyrics and provided rehearsal space in his basement. Filling out the lineup was Grant C. Slavin on guitar, Steve Currie on bass, and Andrew Mosely on drums. All members were in their mid-teens at the time. Their influences included Minor Threat, Millions of Dead Cops, the Misfits, and the Dead Kennedys, as well as local TO bands Direct Action and Sudden Impact. Negative Gain got their first break in '83 when we were asked by local Toronto promoter Jill Heath to open for Jodie Fosters Army at the city's legendary punk club The Turning Point. After the show Pete and Grant went skateboarding with JFA. The evening was documented in a subsequent issue of Thrasher as JFA's guitarist Don Pendelton was writing a column for the rag documenting their tour. Other memorable Negative Gain gigs around this time include warming up for bands like the Circle Jerks, Gang Green, the Descendents and 7 Seconds. The young thrash band soon went from listening to their favorite bands' records on a daily basis to hanging out with them backstage and stealing their beer rider! More help from Jill Heath came when the promoter sent Negative Gain's 1985 demo tape, Attack of the Killer Bears, to Pushead for review. Pushead evidently like the tape so much that he offered to release a full-length LP for the band. Negative Gain recorded their album in Oakville, Ontario in about five hours on a Saturday afternoon, as studio time was limited to what the young band could afford to spend on the recording. The session was produced by Brian Taylor of the Toronto band Youth Youth Youth. Sadly, Pete Warner committed suicide not too long after the recording was completed, and never lived to see its release. His last gig with the band was with Toronto's Bunchofuckingoofs. Negative Gain continued on as a three-piece for about two more years, before splitting in the late 1980s. The record comes with fold out inlay with photos and lyric sheet and extra poster of first and last side of the record. (Rest In Punk Records)

  • Clear vinyl version. limited to 500 copies. Includes download card, came with poster. Necrot is a three-piece Death Metal band based in Oakland, California. They play a unique style of old-school death metal with a crust punk edge, employing unexpected time changes and an interesting variety of rhythms. While most "new-old-school" death metal bands don't deviate much from the blueprint laid out by the genres pioneers, namely Autopsy, Death, Entombed, Morbid Angel and Bolt Thrower, Necrot manage to stand out from the rest of the pack and prove that there is still room for innovation in this kind of music. This of course doesn't mean you won't hear the influence of bands like Sepultura, Grave, Dismember and maybe a bit of Utopia Banished-era Napalm Death in their music, but once your ears are assaulted by their exceptionally grisly and agonized growls as well as their very distinct guitar tone (which sounds like a vacuum sucking up gravel, or a power-saw grinding through bone, or maybe an avocado pit getting stuck in the garbage disposal) you'll be too dumbfounded by Necrot's sheer brutality to care about their influences. If this sounds like your cup of tea, check out The Labyrinth on bandcamp where you can download it for a very fair price of $3, or order it on cassette from Blood Divine Records (run by bassist/vocalist Luca Indrio) and check out the other awesome merch they have for sale. These Oakland death metal locals (ex Acephalix) are quickly gaining speed, and popularity across the world. If you're wondering why, well, there is no need to at all. Crush your brain into submission with this awesome release, and keep your ears open for something from them coming soon. (Tankcrimes Records)

Bay Area death metal/punk trio NECROT will release their long-anticipated new full-length, Mortal, via Tankcrimes in 2020! Recorded by Grammy award winning engineer Greg Wilkinson (High On Fire, Autopsy) and mastered by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Mastodon) at West West Side, the followup to the band’s critically adored Blood Offerings full-length is at once earth rupturing and memorable, spewing forth seven tracks of meticulously executed vile and maniacal death metal supremacy. Easily their most precise performance to date, Mortal foams at its mouth with Chad Gailey’s destructive rhythms, Sonny Reinhardt’s intricate guitar leads, and the guttural domination of vocalist/bassist Luca Indrio. NECROT’s Mortal, which comes cloaked in the cover art of Marald Van Haasteren (Baroness, Kvelertak), will be released on CD and gatefold LP. Forged in 2011, NECROT is a death metal/punk trio from Oakland, California. Sharing current and former members of Acephalix, Vastum, Saviours, and Mortuous, they are among the most respected bands of the  current Bay Area death metal scene. Following three demos and a demo compilation LP, The Labyrinth, NECROT unveiled their debut full-length, Blood Offerings, in 2017. The record, which earned the #29 spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock Chart and #52 on Billboard’s New Artist Chart upon its first week of release in addition to earning year-end accolades from the likes of Decibel Magazine and Revolver, continues to reap the praise of fans and critics both Stateside and abroad. The band has toured the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia extensively in addition to numerous festival appearances in Mexico, Scandinavia, and Japan with live incursions in support of Mortal to be announced in the months to come. • Second Pressing: Ltd to 800, olive green vinyl. Necrot is a veteran band that has not had a full-length release in six years. Comprised of former members of bands Acephalix, Vastum, and Atrament amongst others, Necrot proudly wear their influences and seek to boldly take the style where few bands dare follow. Necrot seemingly pay homage to old Bolt Thrower and Autopsy. Their latest album Blood Offerings transcends tribute and aligns them with the greats of the niche. There are terrific hooks in each song on Blood Offerings, and it’s likely that any metal fan will just pick this up, play it, and headbang along to the quality music on tap. I haven’t heard a death metal album stacked with as many great riffs in a while. Bolt Thrower played a simple, but highly aesthetic style of death metal. Necrot refreshes the template with a slew of quality, catchy riffs and accessible song structure that sounds quite original. Admittedly, I wasn’t familiar with the band’s music before I heard Blood Offerings, and this is undoubtedly one of the better death metal albums I’ve heard this year. If their other albums fail to impress me as this album does, then Necrot has got one masterpiece in the bag at the very least. I’ve heard other writers claim that Necrot has always been a good band. Indeed, Blood Offerings fortifies the assertion. I’m about to go backwards in time and rediscover the band’s older material. Simple but catchy, the groove and chugging prowess exemplified by the rhythm guitar sees transition after transition of stellar riffs. The drums keep time and the great sound engineering on the toms reminds me of a drum session in an amphitheater – they echo to the sound of good acoustics, and the production leaves them audible in the mix to the band’s great benefit. The guitars are in front of the mix – gritty, fuzzy and downtuned like Finnish death metal guitar in the heyday of Finnish death metal. There’s not a bad track in Necrot’s body of work on Blood Offerings. The band makes an uncharacteristic song choice to start the album, opting for a slow-to-mid-tempo track that could have followed a more ferocious number, but the band has the luxury of deciding between equally good songs to begin with, and most fans won’t even notice how Blood Offerings can be altered to make the music more enjoyable. Most songs deliver the goods without overplaying riffs that might sound borrowed. In fact, the riffs here are a fresh blood spattering of death metal exquisiteness that begs to be heard over and over. I listened to Necrot’s Blood Offerings for hours at a time. There’s no need to elaborate just what goes on in each song. Just know that even Bolt Thrower could pay homage to Necrot in the wake of the latter’s highly-substantive Blood Offerings release. Bolt Thrower is largely untouchable up and down their impressive history of releases, and if Necrot just wanted to play music even remotely similar in quality to that of Bolt Thrower, they’ve just done it. No longer tributary in quality, the band just recorded a modern-day classic. Pick this up in whatever media available and cherish the style that made bands like Bolt Thrower legendary in its own time. This is a can’t miss! (Tankcrimes Records)

Nazi Bitch and the Jews was probably the most popular punk band in Fresno, CA, in the early eighties, with their shocking name and harsh anti-social lyrics. Until now though, their discography was limited to the anarchist anthem “Dead Porker” on Alternative Tentacles 1982 compilation “Not So Quiet On The Western Front”. On this LP you’ll find the best tracks from their unreleased 1983 demo. Grungy punk rock with wild female vocals, this record shows a talented band at the top of their game. (Rave Up Records)
  • This is pure old school Grindcore and you can’t get closer to TERRORIZER‘s legendary album “World downfall“, in fact a third of the songs of Terrorizer’s “World downfall” were actually NAUSEA material, the previous band of vocalist Oscar Garcia. Born from the ashes of MAJESTY, they were not a side project of Terrorizer (as many think incorrectly), but a definite band, even surviving the latter’s break up in 1988. Oscar Garcia even used some Nausea songs to complete the posthumous Terrorizer record (‘Corporation Pull-in’, ‘Need to Live’, ‘Condemned System’ and the title track ‘World Downfall’ that was in origin a Majesty song)! On this new CD edition you will find the songs featured on the LP one, so the band’s classic “Psychological conflict” EP (1990), the obscure and under-rated “Tumor” Demo (1992) and the entire split Demo with TERRORIZER (1988) bootlegged on vinyl by Headache Rec in the early 90s, plus six raw yet powerful sounding tunes from three different rehearsal recordings straight from 1987. These bonus tracks are exclusive for this digipack CD repress and will square the circle of the story of a band the helped to define a full genre! This is raw, doomy and corrosive death metal tinged GRIND with whirlwind blast beats and those incredible moshing riffs that became so influential when World Downfall gained its deserved success! NASTY SAVAGE‘s classic Demotape “Wage of mayhem” (1984) for the first time on vinyl spiced up with a lethal selection of rare and unreleased bonus tracks from the early days… NASTY SAVAGE were the undisputed pioneers of Florida’s Metal scene, arguments can be made that the early 90’s Tampa area Death Metal explosion was a direct result of Nasty Savage, who mixed a more nihilistic view, lyrically and through onstage horror imagery, than the Bay Area. Their debut demotape and the additional early tracks collected here show the band on a more Power Metal oriented approach (at times even leaning to NWOBHM areas) than the incendiary Thrash artillery of some subsequent works, but the amount of memorable riffs, a dark evil mood with a few psychedelic elements and the charismatic vocals of their distinctive frontman Ronnie Savage, clearly show the fact that even at their inception they were surprisingly mature and way ahead for their times. The insane, impressive riffing and Ronnie’s high-pitched vocals coin a totally unique sound. Unique, but you can tell some of the influences: Mercyful Fate, Slayer, the heavier NWOBHM bands generally. “Wage of Mayhem” is without the slightest doubt one of the greatest and most influential Metal demo tapes of the 80’s. Remastered from pristine sources taken from the band’s personal archives. Gatefold sleeve + 24 page booklet full of rare photos, flyers, zine interviews and memorabilia. SPECIAL BONUS: a replica of the original “WAGE OF MAYHEM vol. 1” fanzine!!! DIVE IN A BLOODY PIT OF UNCHAINED METAL SAVAGERY!! Watch the trailer HERE Black vinyl limited to 350 copies. (F.O.A.D. NAILS is beyond brutality. These grindcore tyrants of the American underground have triumphantly returned with their 2nd full length “ABANDON ALL LIFE”! Like the bands debut album: “Unsilent Death, was recorded with CONVERGE’s Kurt Ballou. These 10 tracks of barbaric rage have no resemblance to the laughable retro party metal that passes as extreme music in today’s world. Abandon All Life viciously carpet bombs the listener with a horrifying brand of Death/ Grind/ Hardcore chaos. Bludgeoning beatdowns, grinding blasts, hyper-distorted vocals, hard-hitting metallic chugs and early death metal riffs intensifies to a climatic end where the guitars wail and militant drum breakdowns send us marching. With profound hatred, the howling war cry of ABANDON ALL LIFE shows NAILS as a band without equal in their class. (Southern Lord Records/2013)
