“Bunker Punks Discs & Tapes and Skrammel Records are pleased to bring you SCREAMING DEATH, an international bombardment of non-stop käng! The seeds of this project were planted in early 2021. The mission statement was to create a 4-way split 12” in the tradition of classic hardcore compilations in a similar vein as Thrash ‘Til Death. 4 bands from 3 different countries, each contributing several raging hardcore offerings – all fresh material unique to this compilation. Further In Evil is the debut full length from one-woman metal band, Marthe, which is due via Southern Lord on October 20th. An atmospheric and aggressive blend of punk, Further In Evil is a shift in gears from her musical background in the anarcho-punk scene and inspired by riot grrrl, crust and d-beat. The lyrics are full of rage and the music is full of strength; it has the power of Bathory and the sadness of Tiamat, tinged with the stench of Amebix. Marthe is, at heart, a solo bedroom project— born out of introversion and a desire to explore new horizons and landscapes alone. “Around 2012, I started feeling the need to express myself in a heavier and more atmospheric way,” explains Marzia, the woman behind the Marthe project. “I coincidentally started hiking more and more… getting closer to lonely soundscapes: my life, feelings and moods started being more introspective and introverted.” She continues, “Marthe suddenly became my comfort zone, my therapy, my shadow of loneliness, my book of truths, my mirror, my alter ego. Locking the door and disappearing in darkness recording music alone became something so powerful… I probably never really met myself before that.” The narrative of Further In Evil is “a journey into evil. I consider it an epiphany in growing armor to make myself stronger. The title means entering the gates of darkness, becoming cold and detached so as not to suffer anymore,” explains Marzia, the woman behind the Marthe project. The source of many of the lyrics comes from a place of betrayal, and grief at losing “people who were central to me.” She comments, “we are alone”, but expels it as a statement of empowerment, rather than sadness - “the strength is ours.” As well as being introspective, Marthe’s lyrics look outwards at “contexts of injustice and suffering, when the main feeling is not having a voice.” Marthe’s music takes influence from other non-musical media as well - she cites the mood, atmosphere and colors of old school Italian horror movies, and continually comes back to nature as a source of inspiration. • Following the signing of North American hardcore group SECT to Southern Lord earlier this year, the band has since completed recording their second full-length, and label debut, No Cure For Death, and with plans to release the album on November 24th. No Cure For Death was recorded with Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studios and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. Comprised of an international cast of scene veterans, who cut their teeth in that formative moment of political, cynical, antagonistic extremes, SECT unites vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Burning Love, Left For Dead), guitarists James Chang (Catharsis, Undying) and Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance), bassist Steve Hart (Day Of Suffering), and drummer Andy Hurley (Racetraitor, Fall Out Boy, The Damned Things). The result of these musicians’ alignment is a caustic, riotous, belligerent style of vile hardcore fed by a boundless well of socio-political vitriol. SECT gets right down to the blast beats and breakdowns that fight it out in their chaotic jams. They cut the shit and go for the throat with no time to waste, “because the Orwellian police states and irreparable social and ecological disasters we once saw off on the horizon are now on our front doorsteps, in full swing. And in just such a volatile, precarious moment as this for civilization, there is more reason than ever to keep lashing out at a world more suicidally-bent on its own destruction and the exploitation of people, species and the ecosystem itself, than perhaps ever before in history.” For SECT, this is the purpose of hardcore as they know it, conveying an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action. • All Pigs Must Die are far more than the sum of their parts, and their fusion of crust punk, hard core and metal is more ferocious than ever before. The band return with Hostage Animal and an expanded lineup, thanks to the addition of Trap Them’s Brian Izzi. Bound by a shared sonic vision, APMD is comprised of some of the most well-seasoned musicians on the eastern seaboard —Kevin Baker (The Hope Conspiracy), Ben Koller (Converge), Matt Woods, and Adam Wentworth (both of Bloodhorse). Distilling aggressive music to its purest tenets, APMD craft songs that pulverize, gnash, and whirl with a punishing delivery. APMD unleashed their first full length with 2011’s God Is War. The 30-minute rip was a nod to primeval disdain and anger. Exploring facets of human conflict one track at a time, God Is War introduced the world to a whole new spectrum of rage. In 2013, APMD upped the ante with Nothing Violates This Nature. Honing their craft with more speed and filth, APMD pushed their sound closer to the edge of the cliff. 2017 sees the release of APMD’s third full-length, Hostage Animal. Like its predecessors, Hostage Animal was recorded at Kurt Ballou’s GodCity Studio. But that is where the similarities end; Hostage Animal ushers in the most concise, yet dynamic collection of work in the band’s catalog. As a 5-piece, APMD broadens their sound without abandoning any brutality. Drawing from inspirations as diverse as Slayer, Trouble, Morbid Angel (old), GISM, Jesus Lizard, Bathory, Ulver (old), Sepultura (old), Nietzsche, Heidegger, Darwin, pessimism, fear, hatred, paranoia, THC. This is a record that will leave you with whiplash of both body and mind. Label: Southern Lord Records Barcode: 808720024517

All Pigs Must Die is a new band that is rapidly and viciously taking the world by storm! Right off the bat, their pedigree gives them an advantage. Kevin Baker (The Hope Conspiracy) is the throat and Ben Koller (Converge) is the battery. Although the band s members hail from these known modern hardcore/metal acts, they turn their more crust punk/d-beat-driven aggression outward with this band. God Is War is the first full-length studio album by the American metalcore band All Pigs Must Die. It was produced by Kurt Ballou and released on August 16, 2011 through Southern Lord Records. The cover artwork was designed by German illustrator Florian Bertmer. (Southern Lord Records)

  • All Pigs Must Die return with a new skull-crushing opus: NOTHING VIOLATES THIS NATURE. As with the debut album: “God Is War”, NVTN was recorded and mixed by KURT BALLOU at Godcity Studios. APMD is a band committed to uncompromising sonic warfare. Its sound and lyrics assault the listener in a fury of blackened death filled anthems. Owing as much to the Cro-Mags and Discharge as Entombed and Celtic Frost. APMD mix powerful riffs, relentless tempos and a dark presence to bulldoze a grim path of destruction. The NTVTN album contains 10 violence-inducing shredders steeped in utter filth. Aaron Turner (Isis) has lent his nihilistic hand, pen and mind to develop along with the band the dark iconic artwork contained within. Label: Southern Lord Records Barcodoe: 808720017717

Youth Brigade is an American hardcore punk band formed in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, in 1980 by the brothers Mark, Adam, and Shawn Stern. 1983's "Sound & Fury" is now considered one of the greatest punk records of all time not just because of the songs and cultural context, but because it features the hit songs "Sink With California," "Blown Away," "Men In Blue (Part 1)," and "What Will The Revolution Change." "Sound & Fury" has been remastered from the original analog tapes by Dave Gardner. New pressing now available on yellow vinyl. Label: Trust Records
  • In January 1983, Minor Threat went into Inner Ear Studio for the first time as a five-piece (Brian Baker had moved from bass to second guitar and Steve Hansgen was now playing bass). They had six new songs that would end up being the center piece of what became the Out of Step 12" EP. The band had also decided to re-record the song "Out of Step" with some extra language to try to clarify the lyrics, as well as "Cashing In", a tongue-in-cheek song about the DC punk scene which they had only played live once. After much debate, "Cashing In" was added as a hidden track on the original vinyl release though not listed on the cover or label. There was still blank tape on the reel, so they decided to record an instrumental with the working title, "Addams Family" and then recorded new versions of "In My Eyes" and "Filler" to hear what they sounded like with two guitars. "Addams Family" ended up being used as a coda to "Cashing In", but the other two songs were never mixed and largely forgotten for over 35 years until the multitrack tapes were taken into the studio to be digitized in 2021. Surprised by the discovery, Ian and Don Zientara mixed the two songs along with the complete take of "Addams Family". These outtakes are now being released on a 7" to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Out of Step. Label: Dischord Records Barcode: 643859195079

Trouble Will Find Me, The National’s new album will be released on 4AD. This is the sixth studio album from the Brooklyn band, and follow-up to their critically and commercially successful 2010 album, High Violet. The 13-track set is the most self-assured collection of songs produced by The National in its 14-year career. In an interview with UK’s Uncut Magazine, front man Matt Berninger described the songs as more “immediate and visceral” than their previous work. Trouble Will Find Me possesses a directness, a coherency and an approachability that suggests The National are at their most confident. After a 22-month tour following the release of High Violet the band returned home. Regardless of plans to wait to record new music for another year or two, guitarist Aaron Dessner began working on sketches of new songs that the other members were too inspired by to not fully realize. Matt confesses, “For the past ten years we’d been chasing something, wanting to prove something. And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we’d finally gotten there. Now we could relax - not in terms of our own expectations but we didn’t have to prove our identity any longer.” The results are simultaneously breakthrough and oddly familiar, the culmination of an artistic journey that has led The National both to a new crest and, somehow, back to their beginnings - when, says Aaron, “our ideas would immediately click with each other. It’s free-wheeling again. The songs on one level are our most complex, and on another they’re our most simple and human. It just feels like we’ve embraced the chemistry we have.” The album was recorded at Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY. Trouble Will Find Me was self-produced and mixed by Craig Silvey with additional mixing from Peter Katis and Marcus Paquin. 180g 2LP-set with MP3 coupon. Label: 4AD Barcode: 652637331516
