Formed in 1979 in new town Harlow, The Newtown Neurotics are one of the most under rated but essential punk bands. Kick Out! is a 15 track round up of their first six singles taking in the years 1979 to 1984. The first two singles Hypocrite and When The Oil Runs Out were melodic nuggets released on their own No Wonder label. Both of these singles were written prior to the election of the Thatcher monster. The horror of this event changed what was the non-political writing style of Steve's lyrics into the other extreme, and so in June 1982 Kick Out The Tories was released on CNT records. Sadly 38 years later, the lyrics are most poignant and needed than ever. The band continued releasing single after single from the painfully personal to the politically pertinent, all done with intelligence and style. Also included is Andy Is A Corporatist / Mindless Version taken from the Son of Oi! compilation. The album comes with a 32 page booklet of archive - photos, reviews, interviews and more and was conceived to be released alongside the Documentary of the same name about the band's history. • Cassette Happy youth was released on September, 1984, for Ljubljana’s alternative publisher ŠKUC in number of 200 copies. Even for small Slovenia this was extremely modest number, but those were different times. It was possible to feel strong thaw in last decade of communism in Yugoslavia, but the leading state publishing houses still looked upon non-conformist, especially socially critical music, with big distrust. If I look back, they made us big favour with that. This scanty cassette, consisting all, by then recorded songs and some, directly from radio dubbed concert recordings, became most dubbed cassette in history of Slovenia. With it (by adding new recordings) cult status of Niet, which flared up in 90’s and is still going strong, was spreading… Igor Dernovšek (2015) Gatefold sleeve, printed inner and 24-page booklet "Izobčeni" (Outcasted) with interview, review, lyrics in Slovenian/English, lot of rare photos… All songs are remastered! • Black vinyl! Official re-release! Split release between La Familia Releases and Farewell Records! Housed in a 350 gram cover and contains a sheet with japanese lyrics and English translations! First release 1990 on legendary Selfish Records! When it comes to japanese hardcore, it seems that a lot of people are obsessed with ADK or Dogma Records. Solid labels of course, but when I think to the label that defines japanese classic hardcore sound, I only have one name in my mind: the legendary Selfish Records. This label has released over the years so many classics by even more classic bands such as Death Side, Gauze, Outo, Systematic Death, Lip Cream and many others. Not to mention all their classic compilation LPs. Such a great label! Along with Gauze & Warhead, Nightmare is one of the few classic japanese bands that never broke up and it's still going strong after all these years. But when it comes to their records, 1990's "Give Notice Of Nightmare" LP is their highlight moment. Perfect sound, incredible songwriting. I can't find anything to complain about 'coz there's nothing wrong here. Classic metallic japanese hardcore/punk in one of its finest moments. Highly recommended! Standing on the precipice of a damaged world circling the drain Edmonton punks NO PROBLEM are set to figuratively "kill’em all" with the release of "let god sort ’em out", their ambitious 3rd studio album out on Deranged Records. NO PROBLEM welcomes listeners into a frightening world filled with heavy riffs and nervous, gloomy, frustrated sounds. The perfect summer playlist to underscore our impending doom. A mainstay in Edmonton Alberta’s underground punk community, blending the mutant sounds of early Canadian punk with the classic primitive stomp of American hardcore. Vinyl includes a digital download card. (Taken By Surprise Records) https://noproblempunk.bandcamp.com/album/let-god-sort-em-out
  • If you don't know the story, this is Al Quint's (ex-Suburban Voice, current MRR columnist) band from the late 80's. They're definitely influenced by the early 80's Boston sound, and a lot of the vocal patterns remind me of Choke (Negative FX, Last Rights, Slap Shot). The playing isn't very tight, but the tunes are pretty solid. I like that there's a bio with lyrics in the liner notes, especially since this is a more or less a completely unheard of band. A lot of reissues just re-use old cover art and call it a day; but it's nice to see the effort here. Originally released as a demo (original pressing was 100 copies). Recorded in 1985. Recorded after the band had broken up already by the original singer and 3 members of PTL Klub. (No Way Records) https://nowayrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dead-bands-tell-no-tales
  • 8 years after an impromptu afternoon jam that resulted in their first writing and recording session, and 4 years since their last record, No Tolerance return to deliver the straight edge hardcore album the youth and young-at-heart have been waiting for. Unchanged by the unstoppable march of time, You Walk Alone finds the band still able to mine the same territory as always, but formatted for the ebb and flow of a full length album. Expect a meticulous alloy of "Break Down the Walls", Confront's "Payday", and the Hard Stance E.P.s. QCHQ is releasing this sure to be a banger STRAIGHT EDGE anthem filled torpedo bonzer for Europe, alongside Painkiller Records who will be doing this release Stateside. Expect an LP of such immense BOSTON HARDCORE mosh magnitude that many will spontaneously combust in their camo shorts from high jump fury. The Euro edition comes in a 350gsm laminated card sleeve, with an equally thick poster insert and download code. • In the early 1980s, Washington, DC, boasted one of the world’s most vital and distinguished hardcore punk communities. Home to Minor Threat, Dischord Records and an ascetic straight-edge lifestyle that disdained booze, sex, and drugs, the city was heralded for its loud, fast music and righteous, left-leaning politics. Hailing from the unhip suburb of Ashton, Maryland, No Trend presented a sneering alternative to that sanctimonious ethos. Cynical, surreal, and eager to call attention to the hypocrisy of both Middle American norms and supposedly free-thinking subcultures, the band mercilessly baited its audience, dressed in atrociously kitschy clothing, and antagonized fans and foes with grinding dirges and contemptuous, tragicomic lyrics. Despite much local hostility, the group managed to make a name for itself nationally, touring often and gigging with the likes of the Dead Kennedys, Sonic Youth, T.S.O.L., Hüsker Dü, The Flaming Lips, Butthole Surfers, Soundgarden, and countless others.
This compilation covers No Trend’s early records: the first LP, Too Many Humans, and two versions of the “Teen Love” EP. The inserts and ephemera from the original releases have been recreated to produce true facsimiles of these vinyl documents. The attendant CDs also tack on the group’s first demo tape and a live performance from the period. These artifacts defined No Trend’s sound and image in 1983 and 1984, and are largely how the band is remembered today.
The booklet accompanying the music was painstakingly assembled from a variety of sources, and it includes photos, show flyers, contemporaneous fanzine reviews, and interviews with leader Jeff Mentges and No Trend’s other surviving founder, Bob Strasser. The box also contains the infamous No Trend “dance” books (presumed lost until recently), as well as several other surprises.

No Turning Back took ten days with the expertise of Dirk Miers at De Studio and Alan Douches at West West Side and simply did what they wanted to: they recorded their best record to date. With album art done by tattoo artist Bas Kahle and guest vocals from Down To Nothing, Cold World and Enemy Ground, No Turning Back delivers a new album that’s not to be missed by anyone who believes in real hardcore. • NOFX / FRANK TURNER | split | LP

    15.0020.00 incl. tax
New split album jam packed with five rocking NOFX songs AND five songs NOFX covers! How often does the leader of one of your favorite bands ask you to do a split album? Where his band covers your songs? Singer-songwriter Frank Turner found himself in that situation last year, when Fat Mike of NOFX asked if he wanted to do a split covers album. West Coast vs. Wessex shows NOFX filtering five of Frank Turner’s songs through their singular sensibility, with Turner doing the same on five NOFX songs. But these aren’t simply double-time versions of Turner’s folk-punk tunes or slow, acoustic reworkings of NOFX’s iconic SoCal punk anthems. Both NOFX and Frank Turner took time to play with the possibilities each other’s music presented. They also put a lot of thought into the songs they chose to cover. Both groups really wanted to songs that presented an opportunity to create something unique, and bring something to the song that really made it their own. For Frank Turner’s side, the result was a tracklist that pulls more or less from deeper in NOFX’s discography. NOFX classic “Bob” being the exception, Turner transforms into a wistful country song. “Perfect Government” is joyously turned into a barroom singalong, along with a punked up “Scavenger Type,” the post-hardcore “Eat the Meek,” and a spare, haunting “Falling in Love.” On the NOFX side, their climactic take on “Substitute” could’ve fit on Punk in Drublic. “Worse Things Happen at Sea” simmers with an ominous portent. The jaunty “Thatcher Fucked the Kids” sounds like a companion to NOFX’s “Philthy Phil Philanthropist.” “The Ballad of Me and My Friends,” lilting and bittersweet in Frank Turner’s original, goes balls-out here. “Glory Hallelujah” sounds like a lost track from Fat Mike’s stage musical, Home Street Home. There is no loser on West Coast Vs. Wessex. The Frank Turner-Fat Mike Mutual Admiration Society has produced 10 hooky reimaginings of each other’s music. The novelty may pique listeners’ curiosity, but the songs will keep them coming back. Side 1: NOFX covering Frank Turner 1. Substitute 2. Worse Things Happen At Sea 3. Thatcher Fucked The Kids 4. Ballad Of Me And My Friends 5. Glory Hallelujah Side 2: Frank Turner covering NOFX 6. Scavenger Type 7. Bob 8. Eat The Meek 9. Perfect Government 10. Falling In Love (Fat Wreck Records/2020)

  • Originally released on cassette in 1989 by Mystic Records and again three years later on LP and CD. When the original cassette was released in 1989, it was released under a different title, "E is for Everything", though the track listing was identical to the other formats. "E is for Everything" is currently out of print. Fat Mike stated that "This was never supposed to be a record. NOFX got popular in the mid 90's so mystic records took both seven inchers and put them out on a cd with a bunch of demo songs. It's a totally sucky record and the artwork totally bites. We had no control over any of it. In fact we didn't know it was coming out until I saw one in a store. If you want to hear a totally crappy fucked album then this is the one for you. Don't say I didn't warn you." Even though the band claims that "Maximum Rocknroll" was not released with their consent, it's listed on the discography of their website. (Fan Club)
  • Originally released in 1998 on double LP and CD by Alternative Tentacles, Dance Of The Headless Bourgeoisie was reissued on CD on the band’s own Wrong Records in 2004, but it’s taken them a while to get around to a vinyl reissue. Now Nomeansno fans the world over finally have the chance to enjoy the album in its full gatefold glory. The tenth album from Nomeansno was, and still is, a groundbreaking exploration of social and political lyrical statements and post-punk musical workouts. Back in the day, confused people liked to call this “jazz-punk” or “jazzcore” because it involved more than three chords and shock! horror! time changes! and OMG! slow parts! Gatefold, 180gr vinyl. • 2011 release, the third album from the Punk favorites. Nothington prove again that two songwriters are always better than one. • Released in conjunction with the vinyl reissue of their other demo, “To live.. in this world of chaos“, “Evil-ution” (1994) was the debut recording of this all-female Death Metal horde from Montreal, Canada, founded in 1993. 7 songs + outro of the most putrid, sickening Death Metal you can picture in your mind. They quote influences like Grave, Bolt Thrower, Immolation, Autopsy, Demigod, Incantation, but on this demo they also tend to lean towards grinding territories or slow down to the most anguished bowel-stenching Doom obscurity. For the first time on vinyl, remastered from the best source around and sounding better than ever, “Evil-ution” is a hidden gem of rotting Canadian necro-underground that needs to be exhumed and raised on the altar of Death. Layout by Annick Giroux (Temple of Mystery). (F.O.A.D. Records)
  • The band’s second demo and hands down their most brutal and aggressive offering, released in conjunction with their debut “Evil-lution” (1994). One of the earliest all-female Death Metal bands together with Derketa and Mythic. “To live… in this world of chaos” (1997) originally came out on tape, now sold at insane prices and very hard to find, and was later only reissued on CD ltd. to 200 copies. This vinyl version is remastered from the best sounding source in existence and adds 1 studio track taken from the “Awakening – Females In Extreme Music” compilation CD (1997). 9 songs + intro, if “Evil-ution” had all the bases a band needs to deliver the fiercest and most rotting Death Metal the way it has to be, “To live…” nails NG’s style into a deafening storm of darkness and merciless ferocity. Abyssal atmospheres that range from downtuned doomish horror reminescent of Incantation moving to faster, blasting outbreaks that leave deadly wounds. Although the band never went further, they remain an important band in the history of Quebec Death Metal, and as already mentioned, one of the first ever all-female Extreme metal bands. This classic Demo had to be brought back to life getting the proper F.O.A.D. treatment, just like “Evil-ution” this is another hidden gem of Canadian necro-underground that needs to be exhumed and raised on the altar of Death. Layout by Annick Giroux (Temple of Mystery). (F.O.A.D. Records)

  • NUNS | cbs demos 1977 | LP

    16.00 incl. tax
Together with Crime, the Nuns predated and singlehandedly helped to shape the Punk scene in San Francisco in 1976. Their demos from 1977 seemed to be lost in the mists of time forever, but now here they are, all of them unreleased. An ESSENTIAL piece in the history of vintage American Punk!!! Lost demo recordings of a very underrated band. This is raw early US Punk Rock at its best with a huge Iggy/Stooges edge aided by the wild and abrasive piano that honky tonks all along the way. Sound quality is excellent, without any overdubs or studio gimmicks. A great example of San Francisco 1976 early 1977 Punk Rock, next to CRIME and Mary Monday. Too bad, the record industry was not interested. The 1980 Posh Boy album shares a lot of songs but sounds much tamer than this. (Mabuhay Records)
