Cruz was formed in Barcelona in 2012 with the idea of starting a band that mixed heavy and aggressive punk with dark old-school metal such as Celtic Frost and Bathory. However, from very early on, their sound became more aligned with the classic Swedish death metal style. In 2013, the first Cruz lineup was completed, and with that lineup, a self-titled demo was recorded that same year and then released in 2015 by Raw War Tapes. In 2015, now with a different lineup, Cruz entered Moontower Studios and recorded their first album, Culto Abismal, which was released a year later by To The Death Records, Sentient Ruin Laboratories, and Selfmadegod Records. A European tour followed right after the album’s release. During the following years, after numerous gigs and various lineup changes, a new Cruz lineup was established in 2020: Imanol and Xavi, the only remaining original members, on guitar and drums, respectively, alongside guitarist Michele, bassist Simone, and vocalist Narcís. With this lineup intact, in 2021 did they record a new album, Confines de la Cordura, once again at Moontower Studios. Featuring lyrics both in Spanish and Catalan, Confines de la Cordura absolutely CRUSHES from the very beginning: classic early ’90s Swedish-style death metal this may be, but Cruz pump it full of an urgency and electricity that simply can’t be denied. The songwriting simply stuns with its earworming flow, with malevolently majestic leads riding atop the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse gallop, and Narcís’ annunciation dripping malice across each one of these seven stout tracks. And while “Swedish death metal” may conjure images of the usual suspects – Entombed, Dismember, and/or Grave – it’s perhaps more accurate to liken Cruz to the idiom’s culter names like Seance, Desultory, or especially Unanimated; the obsidian gleams as brightly as the blood-red here on Confines de la Cordura. The dark-horse death metal album of the year? Nuclear Winter confidently places its bets on Cruz‘s Confines de la Cordura. Black vinyl pressed on 300 copies. Comes with insert. DOUBLE-SIDED INSERT INCLUDED WITH AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW AND LINER NOTES BY ALEXANDROS ANESIADIS Following the differences that saw the original group implode on the road in 1989, Cryptic Slaughter’s guitarist Les Evans moved to Portland, Oregon, where he formed a new band with former Wehrmarkt and Sweaty Nipples drummer Brian Lehfeldt, plus bassist Bret Davis and vocalist Dave Hollingsworth, both formerly in local hardcore band Crud. Now metal was much more prominent and hardcore on the wane, but there are still signature tempo changes, here within longer, more complex song structures, prefacing the industrial and post-thrash crossover acts to follow. An enduring swansong for all lovers of these metalcore innovators. (Radiation Records)
  • INCLUDES DOUBLE-SIDED LYRICS INSERT Formed in Santa Monica in 1984 by guitarist Les Evans, drummer Scott Peterson and bassist Adam Scott—soon replaced by Rob Nicholson, who joined after singer Bill Crooks arrived, metalcore pioneers Cryptic Slaughter gained an early reputation as one of the fastest of all west coast hardcore bands. Following the success of Convicted and Money Talks, Stream Of Consciousness is the last album to feature the original line-up, the band having broken up prior to its release; with multiple tempo changes on each song, this is the group at their inventive peak, prior to the regrouping that brought a more concerted metal direction. A milestone in the history of crossover thrash. (Radiation Records)

The highly anticipated vinyl repress of "Three: Architects of Troubled Sleep", the final album from Cursed. This definitive version of "Three" was manufactured using brand new pressing plates, making the release sound better than ever. Presented in a gatefold jacket with revamped artwork from illustrator John Baizley (Baroness, etc). Cursed were Canada's metallic monstrosity fronted by vocalist/lyricist Chris Colohan formerly of The Swarm, Left For Dead, and Ruination. The band also featured former Ire and Black Hand members. Distinctly their own animal, Cursed took the most powerful qualities of the aggressive sub-genres and turned them into something raw and explosive. Ultimately influencing and shaping the heavy music world as we know it today. In 2008, Cursed unleashed what many consider to be their hardest hitting album, "Three: Architects of Troubled Sleep". After playing a number of intimate shows and a single record release show in Canada, they embarked on an ill-fated European Tour. On the last morning of the tour, they were robbed of all of their money, passports, etc. The robbery from within their own community was what Colohan has described as the "bullet in the head" of the band. Cursed played one final show in Amsterdam that day, and went their separate ways. For some of the members, it was the last time they ever saw each other. (Deathwish Records)

  • Portland, while having a reputation of being a vast landscape city; friendly, easy-going, creative, a grounded place out of time, rarely do we hear about its mystical undercurrent in the form of angular kinetic space punk. I know the town is known for several hardcore bands, crust bands, but sometimes a scene develops a form of music that seems from the cosmos surrounding its physically dense and dusty environment. CUT PIECE freshly offers that — comprised of various musicians with a vivid discography (PISS TEST, RED DONS, MACHO BOYS, PETITE, APRIORI, DIALS, SALTED CITY, WHISPER HISS, SLEEPWALKERS R.I.P) the delivery here is warm and melodic while stinging and howling and dare I say it, spellbinding. CUT PIECE drills with sorcery as if in a floating flight pattern. I absolutely love the buoyant bass tones driving Don’t Become The Enemy from a very ‘80s UK Anarcho set (RUDIMENTARY PENI, EXIT-STANCE). The drumming is a discipline in grooving clockwork. Laura fires an arithmetic meter of vocals with tonal reverberation. Yes it is singing, but it has the accent and punch of protest, liberation and romantic vitriol. Side B of this upcoming EP begins with post-punk splendor (SAD LOVERS AND GIANTS) with hints of post-grunge Pacific Northwest reflection (WIPERS). The complex weaving and conversation between all members of CUT PIECE have martial simplicity and equal parts tranquil synchronicity. The final track is an attack from ‘80s Japan jangly chain punk (THE COMES, THE STALIN). This is a highly anticipated sample with a tremendous variety of flavor within ten minutes.( Jason Ryan) Label: Sabotage

Sydney Northern Beaches' very own hard-biting rockers C.O.F.F.I.N are proud to share their fifth full-length studio album entitled 'Australia Stops', the highly-anticipated follow-up from their monumental 'Children In Finland Fighting In Norway' album from 2020. Out September 15th 2023 via Damaged Record Co in Australia, Bad Vibrations in Europe and Goner Records in North America. 'Australia Stops' was recorded in January 2023 at The Pet Food Factory studio with producer Jason Whalley (Frenzal Rhomb) behind the desk. A record that showcases a collection of diverse and gripping new works that highlight the band's evolution into more melodious, 1970's Australiana and boogie rock and roll. Frenzied, high-voltage guitars, thumping rhythms, flowing melody and clever, captivating lyrics exhibit an undeniable progression in composition and song-writing, while still unmistakably the C.O.F.F.I.N that fans world-wide have come to worship over their 18 year lifespan. For those who are no strangers to the Australian highways, 'Australia Stops' may be best recognised as words donned on the back of truck mud flaps. To C.O.F.F.I.N, 'Australia Stops' are words that became a polysemous idea and observation on Australian society, culture, art, politics and progression. "When the city burns up you get out, when the flint hits shot you get down", lyrics roared by drummer/vocalist, Ben Portnoy, a look into 'idle-Australia', our government action (or lack thereof) to social issues and the overarching notion of fear of change in this country. While the theme 'Australia Stops' poses political questions and ideals, it also synchronously shines light on the eminence of community, the healthy beating heart of art and music, the beautiful landscapes and divergent nature surroundings held dear within Australia. With this, 'Australia Stops' is neither a fully positive or negative elucidation of this country. It is a celebration of the things we are lucky to have, while always trying to encourage and inspire those around us to try and do better. Label: Bad Vibrations Records Barcode: 5060978392052

Children Of Finland Fighting In Norway aka C.O.F.F.I.N is an Australian punk band who have accepted the mental of their nation’s long legacy of greasy-haired, outback-scrounging, garage rock rumblers, blowing out eardrums and amps one stage at a time, while chiseling their name below those of Radio Birdman and The Hard-Ons in petrol station bathroom stalls across New South Wales and beyond. C.O.F.F.I.N’s were planning on taking their sweaty, slug-trailed tunes and cracked cavalcade on the road this year, hell-bent on mopping up the USA while on tour with Amyl and the Sniffers, but due to COVID, those plans had to take a short dirt nap. The record they were planning to tour on is out though, and it is a bar-none, bar-room crashing, banger! The latest self-titled album from C.O.F.F.I.N’s is their fourth LP overall and retains a lot of the attitude from their previous releases. It unleashes a raging rip of rock fury that blazes like a wildfire, kept alive and deadly by the bellow-like thump and growl of drummer and vocalist Ben Portnoy whirlwind conjuring percussion and libido-pumping leads and grooves of the band’s three guitarists, Abijah Rado, Arthur Flanders, and Aaron Moss. Not unsurprisingly, C.O.F.F.I.N shares a lot in common stylistically with angst-primed, countryfied garage of groups like The Murder Junkies. To that point, they’ll often close out sets with a GG Allin song and the original cover of their 2018 Piss~Up depicted the band peeing into their own mouths (and the alternative cover isn’t much better). But it’s on matters of ethics and principals, rather than style and image, where the C.O.F.F.I.N diverges from many of their influences. What may appears on the outside like a bunch of boys having a gay old-time while playing recklessly loud and loose rock ‘n roll, is in reality a layered experience of conscientiousness and social engagement (in addition to a bunch of guys messing around and making a god damned racket!). Case in point, C.O.F.F.I.N’s track “Dead Land,” which takes up the issues of environmental degradation, the encroachment development on wildlife habitats, and the devastating impacts of global warming, all with the fires that nearly consumed their native country this past year, billowing at the top of mind, with its lusty appetite for destruction in the foreground. If the land dies, it will be humanity’s fault, and presently we as a species show no signs of abating our march towards a fallow Earth. Socials issues are of great concern to the band as well. In interviews, Portnoy and other band members will speak candidly about the need to confront homophobia and end racism in Australia and around the world. C.O.F.F.I.N may take the piss (literally) when it comes to themselves and their music, but when it comes to the subject matter of their songs, they clearly intend to inspire reflection and action, as much, or more, than simply a rowdy, good time. As guitarist Abijah Rado told Monster Children back in July, “Now is a time that, through collective unity, people’s voices are finally being heard and acknowledged. The whole system needs to change and that will never happen overnight, but it’s good to see that the ball has started rolling towards implementing these necessary adjustments.” (Erste Theke Records)

We’re really excited to announce the release of the D.O.A. album “1978”. It’s a 21 track collection of never released demos, rare tracks and early singles from Canada’s punk pioneers. Joey Shithead went deep into the Sudden Death vault and came up with some super exciting and raw punk rock. The album title and art concept is spike haired nod of the head to that early, dynamic era of D.O.A. and to the seven great former members of D.O.A., who have passed on. Their spirit and talent played a huge role into launching the band into worldwide prominence. The two constants on the album are Joey Shithead and Chuck Biscuits who play on every track. From the start of 1978 you are drawn in by their wild, “I don’t give a shit” approach to punk rock. Now some 40 years later you can hear it all, starting with the never seen light of day demo version of The Enemy. This demo has a different set of lyrics that speaks to fighting Nazis, strange, what is old is new and vital again. There’s a ton of exciting tracks that range from the never heard before: Bored and Suicidal, The Mutant, No God No War, Rip Dis Joint, No Way Out and Rent-A-Riot to classic early singles like Fucked Up Ronnie, Disco Sucks, World War3, The Prisoner and Thirteen. You also get demo versions of America the Beautiful and Liar for Hire with Biscuits drumming, which are wildly different than the classic versions you hear on War on 45. On 1978 you hear the origins of hardcore and you get a full blast of D.O.A’s politics and raucous humour. The album has been released as a double 12” LP and CD. 1979 Demo: A1, B4 1981 Demo: A2, A3, B1, B3 1978 Single: A4, C1, D1, D2, D3, D4 1981 Single: A5 1982 Demo: B2, C2, C3, C4, C5 1979 Single: B5, D5 1979 Van. • The third album from legendary Canadian punk rock pioneers - D.O.A. from 1982. The fancy edition for the 40th birthday will be published by Pasażer Records in late May 2023. "War on 45" was the successor to the albums "Something Better Change" and "Hardcore '81", which are considered to be absolute classics of punk rock today. It was recorded in mid-1982 during several late-night sessions in Los Angeles (at night the price of the studio was half the price). In politics, it was a time of intensification of the Cold War and the arms race, and a lot of local, more or less bloody conflicts - hence the overtones of the title and most of the songs contained on it. You can hear the war there. On the other hand, the title "War on 45" is a parody of the then-popular lame compilations with hits like "Stars on 45". On the occasion of War on 45, a new line-up of the band crystallized. Joey Shithead and Dave Gregg were joined by Wimpy Roy from the Canadian band The Subhumans, who had just ceased to exist, and the drummer was Dimwit - the older brother of Chuck Biscuits, who in turn had just left the band. 8 tracks known from the original release were enriched with 7 bonuses, mainly from the demo recorded a few months earlier, when the drummer was still the aforementioned Biscuits (also known from many other legendary bands - Black Flag, Danzig, Social Distortion etc.). Thus, on one LP you have two best Canadian drummers of all time: the Montgomery brothers - Biscuits and Dimwit. The album includes two covers from both its US and European releases, and a 12-page booklet with unique archival photos, posters, and a story of the making of the album written by the Canadian godfather of punk rock, frontman D.O.A. - Joey Shithead, where many delicious anecdotes are told. This album blows your mind as hard as D.O.A. always could and sums up one of the best periods in the history of these world-famous punk pioneers. The new edition of "War on 45" will not be played at a fast 45 rpm, but at a regular 33 rpm.
