    AVENGERS | avengers | LP

    25.00 incl. tax
In the late '70s, The Avengers established themselves as one of the US's preeminent punk bands. Fusing incisive guitar hooks, explosive rhythms and adolescent venom, the group forged some of the most in-your-face songs of the era. Their live shows were legendary, playing up and down the West Coast and even blowing Sex Pistols off the stage at the latter's final performance. As Byron Coley writes in the liner notes, "Of the best bands of San Francisco's first wave in 1977, The Avengers were by far the coolest and youngest sounding. They roared without irony, as though this were indeed Year Zero (and, for a moment, it was) with history being overwritten by the new. The honesty of their belief was carried by their sound. And it was convincing!" Originally released in 1983, four years after the band's dissolution, The Avengers' self-titled LP is often referred to as "The Pink Album" for its magenta-hued cover design. Frontwoman Penelope Houston's iconic voice and razor-sharp lyrics resonate on anthems "We Are The One" and "The American In Me," while penetrating ballads like "Corpus Christi" reveal a truly out-of-body euphony. The Pink Album remains The Avengers' definitive statement – collecting their classic Dangerhouse EP, sessions recorded with the Pistols' Steve Jones and a half-dozen revelatory demos. While much has been written about The Avengers in the past three decades, rock critic Greil Marcus puts it succinctly, "The word I always come back to is mystical, and that remains almost theirs alone." • AVIADOR DRO Y SUS OBREROS ESPECIALIZADOS formed in the Prosperidad Neighbourhood of Madrid in 1979. Influenced equally by Dadaism and Futurist ideas as by the contemporary sounds of bands such as DEVO, THROBBING GRISTLE or CABARET VOLTAIRE, they started creating their own brand of electronic music. Soon after the band won the third prize of a local Battle of The Bands show and were given a record deal as a prize that resulted in La Chica De Plexiglás 7” (Movieplay-1980) and La Vision 7” (Movieplay-1981) both of which were recorded at the same session with a third 7” recorded but not released at the time. Faced with the total lack of interest showed by the label and feeling alienated in a Music World which wasn’t the one they dreamed of, they decided to do what dozens of their peers were doing worldwide; They started their own label, Discos Radioactivos Organizados (DRO) following the steps of Factory or Industrial Records. Faced with the exit of three members who left the band to form a more radical band (ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO), AVIADOR DRO entered Doublewtronix studios to record Nuclear Sí, marking the birth of the Independent Music Industry in Spain. The four tracks on the EP became instant classics with Nuclear Sí being the absolute standout track, while Varsovia en Llamas, Sintonia Del Refugio Atomico and Godzilla were perfect nuggets of Synth-punk who remain amongst the greatest Spanish Pop songs ever. Originally hand-assembled, hand-coloured, self-released and distributed in the total DIY spirit, the first release of DRO remains a perfect example of what a bunch of teenagers can achieve armed with just their youthful energy and idealism. Nuclear Si, was repressed three times and has been out of print since the early 80’s. This reissue of 500 radioactive green vinyl comes out in the year that AVIADOR DRO celebrates its 40 anniversary with a book released and an anniversary tour. • Mention the name Bad Brains to any music fan today and you will get a jaw-dropping response! Considered by some to be the holy grail' of punk rock, Bad Brains are one of the definitive American punk groups who garner the same respect as the Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Ramones and the The Clash. The Bad Brains iconic legacy brought a new dimension to music by melding punk and reggae into a innovative style that has yet-to-be copied. And with this new studio album, Bad Brains essentially returns to their core wit a raw analog-driven chaos produced by MCA (aka Adam Yauch) of the Beastie Boys.Build a Nation has clearly brought out the best in the band. All original members, Dr. Know, Darryl Jennifer H.R. and Earl Hudson, deliver an explosive arsenal of riffage and bad ass bag of voices. Producer MCA recorded the album at the Beastie Boys' Oscilloscope studio in NYC. It is the first studio album released by the Oscilloscope laboratories, outside of Beastie Boys' albums. Sometimes reactionary, sometimes volatile, Bad Brains simply define the American punk experience. (Megaforce)
  • Hardcore punk pioneers Bad Brains released their sixth full-length God Of Love in 1995. The original line-up was back together and the album was promoted with a big tour and concerts on the Beastie Boys’ Ill Communication tour. The album consists of a mix of reggae, hardcore, punk, and hard rock tracks. The band continued to evolve and created such a versatile album that people from different backgrounds felt attracted to it. God Of Love is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on coloured (transparent green & yellow mixed) vinyl and the package includes an insert. • 180 GRAM AUDIOPHILE VINYL • INSERT • LIMITED EDITION OF 1000 • INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED COPIES ON COLOURED (TRANSPARENT GREEN & SOLID YELLOW MIXED) VINYL (Music On Vinyl)
  • BAD NERVE | lost ones | LP

    15.00 incl. tax
Bad Nerve is the brainchild of Jonas Lyxzen whom, if you know your history, has been a part of a bunch of classic Umeå bands like Abhinanda, Separation, DS-13, Insurgent Kid and so on. Jonas is joined by Melody Almroth (from the local band Trots) on bass and vocals and new comer Mårten Bläckberg on Vocals and Guitar. They've already managed to do a short european tour in 2014, a China tour in 2015 and they've released a criminally underrated 7" on Ny våg Ny Våg and also a split 7" with Fanzui Xiangfa from China. Both these were released in 2014. Now they are back with a full-length album called The Lost Ones. 14 tracks of simple yet innovative and catchy punkrock that mirrors both the Umeå tradition and classic american Hardcore like Zero Boys, Bad Brains and Wipers. (Luftslott Records / Ny Våg Records)
  • An amazing lost slice of American Punk/New Wave cool finally sees the light of day after almost 40 years.Hailing from Fullerton California The Barbies were a short lived band that existed from 1979 to 1981, they recorded 5 songs before calling it quits after the tragic death of their guitar player. A handful of test pressings were made of the 5 songs and the planned record shelved. They would have disappeared and would have been forgotten. But as luck would have it a few songs made it out in the world. their song 'Operator, Operator' was used in the cult horror classic 'Fade to Black' (1980) and the song 'Boys Will Be Boys' made it onto the legendary 'The Up Another Octave Transmission' compilation (1981) a now legendary snapshot of the OC music scene in the early 80s. The comp featured not only the Barbies but early Berlin and the Detours making it a sought after collectable. It was from this comp that everyone was turned onto the greatness of The Barbies with their cool New Wave/Punk sound, think early Go-Go's before the poppy top 40 polishing meets Penetration's razor sharp sounds with a good dose of the youthful energy of X-Ray Spex. The fully restored 5 Song 12" EP comes with an eye catching cover and inset that includes photos and lyrics and words by Rikk Agnew (Adolescents / DI / Christian Death) (Puke N Vomit Records)
  • This is the record that put San Diego California on the punk rock map. 1984's Second Coming by Battalion Of saints received international praise & led to a tour in 1984 this release showcases the entire recording as well as the legendary east coast performance of the BATS, this stands as the most significant release ever to come out of SD. Originally released by Enigma records. Classic US hc/punk. Official reissue. (Taang! Records)
  • 200 Copies on Black Vinyl. Just when you thought that there were no diamonds left to be unearthed from the worshipped vaults of the early ’80s Finnish Hardcore scene, F.O.A.D. Records is ready to shock you with a lost&found classic that nobody was aware of, not even the psychos from the most diehard tape-trading circles. BAYONET have remained an obscurity also among Punks in their native land. Perhaps it has faded into somewhat a mystery as they had virtually no contributions to the thriving scene of Finland in 1982 and 1983 – the very little while they existed… A shit-quality bootleg 7″ came to light few years ago, but it really didn’t make justice to the fact that these guys had two incredible studio recordings that they didn’t send anywhere at that time, and that were unearthed just recently thanks to the help of a friend that contacted a band member and triggered the gear that made us get here. So if you’re a fan of raw and fast Suomi HC/Punk and turn crazy for bands such as Kaaos, Rattus, Bastards, Terveet Kädet, Varaus, Sorto, Riistetyt, Kansan Uutiset and dozens more, this 49 song discography by BAYONET needs to be an instant add-on to your collection. Needless to say that it’s all mastered from the best sounding sources in existence. These guys claim they were influenced by early ’80s US Hardcore but the style is actually what we all love of Finnish HC, a bloody chaotic inferno of speed and brutal distortion. This collection includes their two studio sessions “Taste of piss” and “Finger in a deep arsehole” plus bonus rehearsals, songs from the rare “Ilkivalta” compilation tape and the recording of the only live they ever made! It comes with an insert including a lengthy interview to Seppo and Nikke run by Otto Itkonen (Selfish, Forca Macabra, Kuolema, Kovaa Rasvaa etc..) plus some photos. To cut it short, this is a total must for every maniac of raw and chaotic early ’80s Hardcore! (F.O.A.D. Records)

  • Big Black was started by Steve Albini in 1982 while he was attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Lungs, the first Big Black release was recorded by Steve on a borrowed 4-track. He played everything on the EP himself - except the sax bleating courtesy of pal John Bohnen and the drums courtesy of Roland. Soon after, Steve recruited Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun) on bass, and Santiago Durango (also Naked Raygun) joined them on guitar. In 1983, together with live drummer Pat Byrne, they recorded the Bulldozer EP. By 1984, the band had done some touring and recorded the Racer X EP and the start of the Il Duce 7”. After that, Jeff returned to Naked Raygun and was replaced by Dave Riley. In 1985, Big Black recorded their first full-length, Atomizer, as well as finishing the Il Duce 7”. Atomizer was released in 1986 along with the release of the Hammer Party compilation CD. In 1987, the Headache EP and Heartbeat 7” were released. That same year, the band recorded and released the 7” of The Model/He’s A Whore as well as their second full-length album, Songs About Fucking. They toured extensively (for Big Black). And they broke up. (Touch And Go Records)
  • Grey vinyl. Packed shows, sold out tours, both their six-track debut 12" and debut full-length "Pressure" get re-press after re-press... does BISHOPS GREEN really need any further introduction? With this album the band found a bridge between their raw and powerful debut EP, the passionate and resistful "Pressure" LP and their wild and rowdy live shows capturing it all on "A Chance To Change". So what are you still waiting for?! (Pirates Press Records)

  • BLITZ | killing dream | LP

    17.00 incl. tax
This is nothing like the old Blitz, because its a record entirely played by the only original Blitz member, guitarist Nidge on bass and guitar, Gary Bassnet from Attak on vocals. The result is an interesting post-punk sounding album, more relaxed and everything but OI ! sounding, with characteristic Nidge guitar playing plus a second guitar of basic but excellent riffling and soloing. "Well, Mackie wasn't interested, and Carl was living in Australia at the time, but Link offered me th opprtunity to do another Blitz album, and I wanted to do it. The song "Killing Dream" was actually written in 1983 and intended as a Blitz song anyway; it would've been the follow-up to "New Age" if things had been different. But it was an odding time, there was very little going on in the punk scene, and of course, we didn't have a drummer,se we had to use this horrible drum machine, which was the main drawback. But the album did pretty well for Link here, and it came out in America through Cleopatra." Nidge died in 2007, aged 48, shortly after a reunion tour. Originally released in 1989 on Link Records. This is high quality fan club release. (Skunx Records)

Released a year after their much hearled debut album 'Voice of a Generation' , 'Second Empire Justice' features half the members from the original line-up and with a new sound. While initially being an Oi!/Skinhead Punk band, on 'Second Empire Justice' they not only changed members and their look but also their sound and released a Post-Punk classic with a heavy dose of Joy Division worship, produced by Chris Nagle. While Nagle had also produced their debut album, he had also engineered the Joy Division and New Order albums under Martin Hannett and had also engineered various other post punk albums of the day from the likes of The Durutti Column, A Certain Ratio and Magazine. Together the band and Nagle created a masterpiece while not appreciated at the time, especially by their original skinhead/Oi! fanbase. The album would go onto influence tons of post-punk/darkwave bands that sprouted from the ashes of punk/hardcore bands decades later and become one of the most sought after albums of the golden age of post-punk.. So sit back and listen to these beautiful moody haunting guitars, dancing basslines and emotionally fragile vocals all the while retaining a punk ferocity. For Fans of : Joy Division, Magazine, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Killing Joke, The Middle Class Limited repress on Restless Empire. (Restless Empire Records)

Raw, violent and catchy, Blitz's 1982 debut album sounded like a shot of pure rock and roll through the violence of the English working class. Made up by two punks and two skinheads, with a lot to say about violence and football, Blitz appealed to all kinds of lowlifes, who finally had a voice for their generation. 180 gram vinyl reissue with printed inner sleeve, contains 3 bonus tracks: Voice of Generation from V/A Total Noise, Nation on Fire and Youth from V/A "Carry on Oi". Total classic. (Radiation Records)
  • Easily one of the greatest roots reggae albums of all time, 1970's 'Soul Rebels' resulted from the intensive partnership brokered by the group and maverick producer, Lee "Scratch" Perry. It was the first Wailers 'concept' album, conceived as a long-player based on a rebellious theme, rather than a collection of isolated singles, and the presence of the Barrett Brothers in the rhythm section pointed the way for greater glories to come.
