Out of stockThe second release on Sealed Records is a 14 Track round up of the five singles by Zounds. The debut single from 1980 Can't Cheat Karma was released on Crass Records and 39 Years later still stands as one of the finest singles both politically and musically. For the next three singles Zounds released them on Rough Trade Records, along with their debut album The Curse of Zounds. 1981's Demystification was a tense and stark masterpiece. It was followed by the haunting Mikey Dread-produced Dancing and then the more straight up pop of More Trouble Coming Everyday. The final single of Zounds Mark 1 was La Vacht Qui Rit released on Belgium label Not So Brave in 1983 and was originally supposed to be a split single with The Mob but ended up with two scratchy studio tracks and two rough and raw live tracks recorded in Holland in 1982. Every home should have these essential Zounds recordings. Label: Sealed Records

Brace yourself for the re-reissue of a true Dutch hardcore punk classic: the debut and sole EP by Zmiv. On this EP you’ll find no less than 7 pieces of fast, angry, distorted, furious and mindnumbing punkhits. Special German Edition has the normal stuff + the following points: - black front - different back cover - inside the restored original insert - poster cover 14" x 14" - sticker Label: Milkcow Records

After a well received demo, ZIG ZAG has been making waves at shows around America as well as their home ground of South Florida. Playing punk hardcore that is as akin to Germs and Blatz on "Gets Worse", Zig Zag showcases their sassy, sardonic take on the genre. Ranging from short and speedy hardcore bursts to mid tempo punk masterpieces, their newest release has all in store. All songs are dedicated to the loving memory of their deceased guitarist, Austin, whose final recordings are on this release. 500 seven inches pressed with 100 limited on black and white mix. Sale!Zero Zero: a sadly unlamented 1990s anthology comic series published by Fantagraphics, which published some of the most batshit underground cartoonists of the time, as well as some of the smartest satirists and grossest gross-out artists. It was briefly incredible; it stopped before it ran out of steam; it was punk as fuck. Zero Zeroes: just one of those ungoogleable band names, scuppered a tad by the existence of Californian ‘70s punkas The Zeroes. But this German band are definitely their own beast - OK, there are touches of San Diego legend John Reis in their DNA (the garage-centric power chords are pure Rocket From The Crypt; the relentless drive of the guitars calls to mind the wild focus of Hot Snakes), but they’re here to make a racket their own way, and it’s scintillating. So why mention the comic? Well, aside from the similarity in the names, there’s something about this gleefully menacing racket that just feels like it draws from the same well; equal parts smart, serious, cartoonish, and drawn to a devilish sense of reckless abandon that you’ll only find if you really know where to look for it. Whether making fist-clenching punk anthems from unsolved murder cases (as they do on the rollicking ‘Tamam Shud’) or simply slapping you in the face with killer riffage and even better tunes (‘Mouth Full Of Snakes’, ‘Dark Thoughts’... actually pretty much every cut here), they’re here to make you surrender to that sweet sweet rock’n’roll. Not to labour the point about what a crappy year 2020’s been, but thanks to… well, you-know-what, I think we could all do with a bit of that in our lives right now, huh? (Drunken Sailors Records)

From 1979 into 1983, the Indianapolis based Zero Boys were the finest hardcore blitz in the Midwest if not all the lower 48 states. Proof is "Vicious Circle" and the two decades since of copyists, bootleggers, practitioners and reunion concert pogoers. Though before and after that LP's 1982 release they recorded the "Livin' In The '80s" 7", songs for three comps and released the post-mortem "History Of..." cassette revealing their transformation into a toured band warming to the metaphysical and their demise while still waving torches of rock 'n' roll panache. Those tracks not on the "Vicious Circle" LP all appear on this collection. Vinyl version includes a coupon that for a limited time allows you to download MP3 audio files of the recordings. Following their highly acclaimed single 'Ride Hard Ride Free' the undisputed kings of balls-out rock'n'roll ZEKE have a new 7' entitled 'Snake Eyes' slated for October 4th, 2024 ZEKE is a punk rock and hardcore institution, forming in 1992 in Seattle and still going strong. They are still doing what they do best, loud fast and heavy punk rock with a hint of blues. You can say that they were punked up Motörhead but they brought a certain punk rock and hardcore element to the genre that many bands after them picked up on. RPM Online wrote, "Zeke really are like no other band in the world right now" and that "It's not fast, its fucking hypersonic hardcore", while Maximum Volume highly recommends "… they are the kings of the underground." Vive le Rock in UK is pleased "the quartet will be giving Brexit the finger." and also Ox Fanzine from Germany confirmed, "they are in top form, just as we celebrated them back in 1996 for Super Sound Racing." With original members Blind Marky Felchtone (vocals and guitar) and Donny Paycheck (drums) along with Jason Freeman (bass) and Jeff Hiatt (guitar), 'Snake Eyes' is as uncompromising as ever, with a furious whirlwind rhythm the foundation for a tidal wave of fast guitars. Feltchtone's serrated knife vocal might be even more toxic than two decades ago. 'Snake Eyes' slows down the punk speed a bit in favor of a high-octane rock affair that, like Hellacopters, comes across as played at the wrong speed. On the flipside you will find pure intensity with 'The Knife' and you can imagine ZEKE driving one through the night doing whatever they are doing in the back and once its finished you feel dazed and confused. Like one of those masochists who likes pain you want to put it on again too. Label: Hound Gawd! Records Barcode: 4018939546151

Seattle punk legends ZEKE return with the first new recordings in over 4 years. "Ride Hard Ride Free" contains two tracks laced with ZEKE's signature mix of turbo-charged thrash-punk and Motörhead possessed rock n' roll and provides the first taste of ZEKE's new album, which will be released later this year. In 2022, ZEKE was unexpectedly reborn with founding members Blind Marky Felchtone (vox/guitar) and Donny Paycheck (drums) returning to the drum kit after 18 years. They went into the studio with Jason Freeman (bass) and Jeff Hiatt (guitar), they were with ZEKE before and got back in, to record a new album. The first single "Ride Hard Ride Free" is everything you've come to expect - or want to hear from ZEKE. A full-on thrasher celebrating speed in more ways than one, "Ride Hard Ride Free" has a very sharp style, with the band takes cues from old Motörhead rlffs, then fusing it with hardcore punk roughage. A modern ZEKE classic. They tie in here stylistically with "Death Alley". Produced by Jeff McNulty (Screamers, Blöödhag, Hell Bent For Letters) at Soundhouse in Seattle, WA, and mastered by Joe Bozzi at Bernie Grundmann in Los Angeles, CA Cover photo by Mike Mitchell. The tracks are not available on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms. ZEKE recently completed a successful West Coast tour. The band also has a number of high-profile European performances scheduled in the coming months, including Sjock Festival in Belgium and appearances at Pitfest in the Netherlands and Sardina Fest in Spain. The group will return to America later this year. Ride with ZEKE! - Zeke are the dive bar that's survived onslaughts of gentrification, knowing that the charm of lawless riffing and broken bottles never fades. - Pichfork Label: Hound Gawd! Records

Zeke is a lot like the New Christy Minstrels--they're both bands. The similarities end right there as Seattle's most whiplash-happy hardcore unit whips out their Dirty Sanchez and lays waste to the idea of a quiet evening or, at the very least, a quiet 22 minutes. That's right--16 songs in 22 minutes. There are no tedious "getting to know you" intros or verses without curses. Dirty Sanchez is every parent's nightmare, evidenced in lyrics like "Go ahead get real high / puke up until you die." Frontman Blind Marky Felchtone's rapid delivery renders these and other lyrics as translatable as Swahili, but band mates Abe, Mark, and Donny punch out enough superchug snarl to satiate the spikiest of the mohawk set. The whole assault is capped off by a quick but beefy cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon," although the track listing promises "My Way." Zeke's middle finger is showing... quite proudly. -Jason Josephes Originally released in 2000 by Epitaph Records. First time on vinyl since the original press. Limited to 300 black vinyl. ZBOMBARDOWA LALECZKA, a band from Poznań,active in the years 1983-1986 and emerged from the earlier formations of MAŁY BRZYDAL and KBW. It was one of the few groups operating in Poland whose character clearly indicated inspiration from British peace-punk. Echoes of Poison Girls, Crass or Flux Of Pink Indians penetrated their own view of music and message. Another characteristic element that distinguished the band was its composition, which differed from the standard of the time. In the first half of the 1980s, there were only a few punk or post-punk bands with women in the line-up (including FORNIT, ATAK, TILT, BIALE WULKANY, BIKINI, KONTROLA W., DZIECI KAPITAN KLOSS and the aforementioned KBW). For many people, the performances of ZOMBARDOWANA LALECZKA with the vocalist Gertruda were the first contact with strong female vocals in a native punk band The group's message was no less important than the music. It was a direct protest against war, militarism and violence. As reality shows, today, unfortunately, it will again sound exceptionally up-to-date and shocking. The band's poignant lyrics and music were complemented by graphic accents created by them - collages, posters or the band's fanzine distributed at concerts. Unfortunately, despite the huge potential, the band never managed to enter the studio. They did not live to see any record or cassette release, and the only trace they left behind was the cassette compilation "Róbrege '85", which included the song "Children die first". The same number, registered during the performance in Jarocin '85, was used in Piotr Łazarkiewicz's film "Wave". Both festivals were certainly the most important events in the history of the band, and thanks to them, the memory of the group had the opportunity to survive despite the lack of releases. A photo session for one of the first issues of the "Wprost" magazine from 1983 is also worth noting. In addition to the aforementioned cassette compilation and recording in the legendary film "Wave", poor quality concert recordings were also circulating among the fans. This release double fills an important gap in the history of punk in the 80s. The band Zbombardowana Laleczka not only debuts on the album, but also after 37 years, their full material will sound in good quality, previously unavailable, for the first time. Recordings recorded during a performance on the big stage (for which the band qualified without sending an application cassette!) are 95% recordings from the console, and with the transfer from the original reel-to-reel tape and mastering in the invaluable Studio As One, the whole thing sounds great and we are sure, that this disc will give the band, their rightful place in the history of the Eastern Bloc punk movement. Due to the historical value, we decided to include the band's full performance on the album, also with the song interrupted by the organizers due to fights in front of the stage. After about an hour's break, the band managed to present the entire programme. Traditionally, like the rest of the series of punk recordings from the festival in Jarocin presented by Warsaw Pact Records/Archiwum Trasa W-Z, the album is released with a gatefold cover and this time with two additional booklets: one with the history of the band, photos, collages and graphics and the other with a faithful reproduction of a zine released by the band in the 1980s. Comes with a 24-page booklet with information about the band and a reproduction of a zine released by Zbombardowana Laleczka in 1985. (Warsaw Pact Records)

"A band out of London, UK that sings in Italian? Well, with over 270 nationalities living in Britain’s capital – pre-Brexit anyway – anything is possible, but it makes a unique selling point nonetheless! The band in question, Zanzara – who just released their first release ever, the “Gli Occhi Dello Stato” LP for Common People Records! Now the cover artwork might have given it away already, but Zanzara is indeed the Italian word for a mosquito. But where mosquito’s are annoying little fuckers that bite and keep on zooming in your ear, Zanzara is anything but irritating, making the kind of noise you want to hear over and over and over again! Delivering that raw, brickwall sound of the 80’s – Zanzara delivers a dozen of anthems that sound authentic, yet relevant – much alike French outfit Rixe. It’s no surprise then that the sound of these Italian Londoners is influenced by the likes of Nabat and early Klasse Kriminale (easy comparisons of course, because of the shared language), though you can easily spoon up a list of bands from the “Chaos En France”-era as well. Along with a healthy dose of nihilistic post-punk riffs, a deliberate lo-fi production and killer song structures, Zanzara delivers a fairly brilliant debut that keeps captivating over and over again – I love it! Altough “Gli Occhi Dello Stato” has been online for a while already, this physical release still caught me by surprise – in a very positive way! Released on either black (200 copies) or oxblood vinyl (100 copies) (both complimenting the colors used for the sleeve and inlay), this record is an absolute must for those who like their sound raw and unpolished, yet – or maybe because of that – close to perfection! Highly recommended!" American Oi (Common People Records)

Reissue, originally released in 1958. Ceaseless seeker Yusef Lateef continually sought to push the boundaries of jazz, striving to make connections across continents and to capture the essence of devotional expression long before the term "world music" was coined. Recorded at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1958, Lateef At Cranbrook is a stunning set of instrumentals reaching into the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, the unusual line-up including Frank Morelli on baritone sax, William Austin on rabab, and Terry Polland on piano, with Lateef commanding the proceedings on tenor sax. An exceptional and emotive musical journey. Label: Survival Research Barcode: 0637913138430

Youth Valley was created in 2019 and is currently based in Athens, Greece. The band’s style revolves around genres like new wave, post punk and 80’s indie rock like ‘the Cure’ or ‘the Smiths’ dressed in a more contemporary shoegaze guitar-based coat, inspired by bands like ‘DIIV’. The band’s songs involve internal dialogue, facing traumas, observing the family/ society structure and openly discuss or philosophize matters we have not been “programmed” to question, let alone communicate and comprehend and usually end up passing to the following generation just like they did to us; unless we decide to break the circle. And to do that, we acknowledge that the inner self-parent needs to take care of the child within. If this child learns to feel loved and appreciated, it will do wonders. Gatefold cover. Amazing compilation by the legendary Connecticut heroes Youth Of Today. The main feature is the ultra rare Don Fury Demo from 1986, recorded just prior to recording the debut album, "Break down the walls". Super raw versions of the album tracks, plus other bits...kind of like "Before the quarrel" by Cro Mags. On the b-side you can find the two tracks from the "Make it work" compilation released in 1985 and a great live set recorded at CBGB on 12/05/1985. History is here, it's time to break down the walls. Tracklist: Side 1 Don Fury demo 1986: 1. "Make A Change" 2. "Together" 3. "Thinking Straight" 4. "Stabbed In The Back" 5. "Break Down The Walls" 6. "Honesty" 7. "One Family" 8. "Youth Of Today" 9. "Relentless" is the long awaited YOUTH AVOIDERS second album. The five years between this new full lenght and their debut have been really intense for the band, made of constant live appearances everywhere around the globe. Intensity is the trademark of YOUTH AVOIDERS, "Relentless" is the fruit of a five days session in the Normandy countryside studio Swan Sound. To keep it simple, "Relentless" is YOUTH AVOIDERS making what they have done so good so far but even better : catchy riffing, rich melodies, inexhaustible drumming, sharp vocals... The band has also raised the tempo, these 11 songs go at an unrestrained pace. "Relentless" well bears its name ! Label: Destructure Records

Out of stock“Colossal Youth / Loose Ends and Sharp Cuts” is Young Marble Giants debut studio album, released in 2007. Young Marble Giants were a Welsh post-punk band formed in Cardiff, Wales, in 1978. The first formation of Welsh trio Young Marble Giants was short-lived, but in just a few years, the band created a sound that presented post-punk's experimental tendencies in their most minimal rendering without sacrificing any excitement. “Colossal Youth / Loose Ends and Sharp Cuts” is arguably Sam Smith’s best body of work to date, containing many of his most popular songs such as “N.I.T.A.,” “Brand - New - Life,” and “Croci Loni.” This album offers a listening experience like no other as you get to hear the incredible Lofi indie rock sound. Sale!“Toisten Todellisuus” compiles two 7”s by Helsinki, Finland’s YLEISET SYYT: their self-titled EP, originally released in 2019, and 2021’s “Umpikujamekanismi”. Despite members playing in well-known underground Finnish bands like KOHTI TUHOA and FORESEEN, YLEISET SYYT has flown under the radar in the Anglophone world, with only a small fraction of their records’ tiny pressings making it outside Finland. Fortunately for you, the hardcore fanatics at Sorry State and La Vida Es Un Mus have our ears to the ground, and we agreed that a band this killer deserves a much wider audience. YLEISET SYYT’s sound is both blistering and anthemic, moving nimbly from full-throttle rippers like “Hygieeninen Ruumis” to tracks like “Hyväntekijä” and “Luovan Keskiluokan Takapihalla,” whose big chorus hooks could have anchored a Riot City or No Future A-side. The combination of ferocious performances and songwriting chops might remind you of older Finnish bands like LAMA, MELLAKKA, and APPENDIX, but MINOR THREAT, THE FIX, and NECROS are equally apt comparisons. If you like your early 80s-style hardcore tightly-wound, razor-sharp, and bristling with hooks, you’re gonna love “Toisten Todellisuus” as much as we do (Daniel Lupton) (La Vida Es Un Mus)
