• Chisel this, Chisel that" -- it's on my phone, it's on my hard drives, it's on my turntable, it's on my t-shirt, it's on my Instagram, it's on my blogspot, it's tattooed on my forehead, my own parents renewed their wedding vows to "Rat Running Scared." I pressed stop. I unplugged my headphones, turned down the volume, and snapped that god forsaken single in HALF. Enough was enough! But see me, yeah. Once the music stopped only one thought rang through my head: What Have I Done? Where once there was explosive energy there was now a void. Lucky for me, the 5 loveable lads from Blackpool, Croydon, Acton, Chingford, and Guildford KEPT IT MOVIN, and just when I thought all was lost they brought me back in. Three more blasts of full fat extra saturated deep fried limb swinging confrontational uplifting chisel chiselling punk for that special space in your life. Enough said? No. Cos they've done it again. (Jonah Falco) (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)

Milwaukee youth brings the fire and fury on their first record, Manic Revision. Sharing as much influence from Boston bands such as SSD and DYS and power violence bands such as Heresy and Infest; Big Laugh blends Hardcore and Punk in a way that is truly original and unprescendented. Big Laugh does not try conform to either genre, yet weaves the two together in an uncompromising fabric. (11PM Records)
  • REAKSI from Melbourne Australia are three immigrant punks from Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. The band delivers direct, hard and pungent lyrical protest in their native language Bahasa. The songs attack political issues that every Asian punk knows too well, the rights of and the struggles of immigrants (Tidak Ada Manusia Ilegal, Tidak Menyerah), police brutality (Awas) and songs of struggle and freedom (Punk Asia) that is highly relevant to the Myanmar’s people current uprising against military coup junta. “Esok Hari Kepunyaan Kita” translated “Tomorrow belongs to us” was recorded last year during harsh COVID lockdowns in Melbourne, this debut five track E.P combines the solid attack of UK 82 of THE PARTISANS, CHAOS U.K, the anthemic Oi! sound of THE 4SKINS, BLITZ and also drawing influence from traditional archipelagic hymns. Featuring members of ENZYME, KROMOSOM, PISSCHRIST AND INTRUSION. At first listen/ glance, the sound production and art of this record could easily be mistaken as a record off the NO FUTURE catalogue. Featuring art collaboration by Nicky Rat and Hafiz (SIAL), sound production by Joshua Wells (PRIORS), Maxime Smadja (RIXE, CONDOR) and Yeap. REAKSI “ESOK HARI KEPUNYAAN KITA E.P” is a love letter and a call to arms for Asian punks everywhere. (Fahmi Reza) (La Vida Es Un MUs Records)

  • Originally released in 1995 this was their first album for three years and their first album of new TVPs material on Overground Records, who had previously issued two live albums, and reissued nine of their singles. Featuring eleven new tracks, the album was recorded by Liam Watson at Toe Rag Studios and was a marked change of direction from the highly polished ‘Closer To God’. “I wanted to get back to basics and recapture the spirit of the first two albums that were low budget and recorded quickly, that’s how all our best records were made” Dan Treacy 1995 Re-packaged with new artwork from the original artist Alison Wonderland and sleeve notes by Edward Ball (TVPs/The Times) the album will teach the kids of today everything they need to know about how to become a mod. What more could they want? “If you’re a Mod, you’re a Mod twenty four hours a day, even working with other people, you’re still a Mod. Some of them just can’t understand older men with homes and families, it’s just a different world, but I’m past it now, I’m too old You’ve got to be sixteen to be a Mod, to be able to wear high heeled boots and long hair and not care what anyone thinks” Dan Treacy 1995 This was the last TVPs album of original material. Albums since have been either compilations or consisted of cover versions, and as such ‘I Was A Mod Before You Was A Mod’ remains a remarkable testament to an extraordinary talent. • In 1981 three lads in Pavenham, Bedfordshire aged 14 to 17 decide to form a punk band. They soon discover Crass and the burgeoning anarchy-punk movement and this influences them both politically and musically. In 1982 they record seven tracks and release it as a cassette titled Another Disaster and later that year another five tracks are recorded with two of the tracks appearing on the highly successful 1983 Pax compilation Bollox to the Gonads Here's the Testicles alongside Flux of Pink Indians, Dead Kennedys etc. The same demo tape gets them two tracks on each of two American compilation albums: Compulsory Overtime (Diesen Records) and Empty Skulls Vol. 2 (Fartblossom Records) by now interest in the band is snowballing and they record six more songs that appear on Colin Jerwood’s (conflict / mortarhate) new label Fight Back as the undesirable guest 12”. The record was a huge success and Colin asked them to record a song for the compilation: We don’t want your fucking war. Their track sea of desecration became probably their best known song. In spring 1985 the band recorded an album. unfortunately they had no way of paying for it. After discussions with red rhino and the cartel who suggested the band set up their own label -- which they promised to bankroll -- prison of life was released on Trash records in Autumn 1985. This early part of their career is all chronicled on this compilation. 26 tracks from the early part of this 80s anarcho punk band’s career. Includes their ‘Prison of Life’ album, their first demo tape, compilation appearances and 7 unreleased studio recordings. (Overground Records)

  • Never was a band and its first album both so suitably named as EXTREME NOISE TERROR and their seminal debut full-length, 1989's A Holocaust in Your Head. Simply put, this is one of the key releases of both the crust-punk and grindcore genres, redefining British music's known limits of sonic extremity with its remorseless aggression, blinding speed, and none-more-raw recording. Along with their fellow Britons in Napalm Death, this rag-tag group of hardcore misfits turned metallic innovators are largely seen as being at the forefront of the development Crust. • PEST HOLE | wizards | LP

    10.00 incl. tax
Pest Hole are from Finsterwalde,Germany and have been rustling since 2013 through Brandenburg's forests. The successor to the first-ever "Perdition", released in 2014, was released a month ago, creating an unrelenting ending to the dawning year 2016. The trio around guitarist Martin is devoted exclusively to hard sounds whose roots can be attributed unmistakably to the good old punk. Rhythmically, the rumble drive of the hell command reminds me strongly of GBH, whereby the tuning of the drums often frees thoughts to old Sepultura-Frühwerke into the freedom, especially when Master Cubi taps his toms. The first impression of this infernal Crustpunk thunderstorm, which does not survive without Thrash or Death Metal elements, was relatively sobering, but at the latest after the third round, this Sud, made of malicious compositions, never ignites the mark of 3 : 00 min. The only exception is the six-minute title titled "Wizards". Pestle hole, all the forests of Brandenburg are cut off within half an hour, which should give their home town a different name. Shredding and beatings, wagons, and bees, that even a grown plow pale with envy when he sees Pestlehole plowing whole lands with their sound - and always beautiful in the work rhythm of the punks, gentlemen! Between all the darkness, glorious riffs reappear again and again, over and over again by loose solos of the string-wizard. Because of it, it just rumbles! So I imagine an ambitious album in the independent division. Own, uncompromising and yet with a certain style that suggests: here, the instruments make what is demanded in the most brutal way. (Angry-Voice Records)

  • February 21st saw the digital release of TAQBIR’s first outing. Released via bandcamp and YouTube this enigmatic recording turned many heads and got many people speculating about this absolute rager of Moroccan origin. Four months later the physical version of this recording sees the light. Simply put, it was just too good to be a digital only endeavour. The four tracks of “Victory Belongs To Those Who Fight For A Right Cause” are four short vomits of anti-religious sentiment made music. Sang in Moroccan Arabic TAQBIR’s lyrics are irreverent, careless outburst of anger towards an extremely patriarchal oppressive place. Musically TAQBIR walks a thin line joining some of my favourite qualities in punk music. The aggression of fuckwave originators DISKOLOKOST, the nastiness of THE COMES vocalist’ Chitose and the raw reverb-drenched heavily-distorted non-production of THE SEXUAL or DESTINO FINAL. An amazing example of primative world Musik and hopefully part of a new wave of Taqwacore bands. The record comes with a double side A4 poster with lyrics and band’s graphic. • State Line Records is proud to release Oxymoron's final album of their career. This is the first time that Feed the Breed has been available on vinyl in the United States and the first pressing since Knock-Out Records original German press in 2001. Oxymoron started off with a band on F**k the 90's. They followed that up with The Pack Is Back which is arguably better than their debut. Is their third and final full length, Feed the Breed, their best? You decide. (GMM Records)
  • SIAL | zaman edan | 7”

    10.00 incl. tax
Singapore SIAL return with two songs of bleak mechanised feedback laden punk. This time around their sound is moving from their usual abrasive hardcore to a more HAWKWIND-CRESS influenced setting the tone for a more psychedelic conceptual piece. “Zaman Edan was written during a period when the world was under severe anxiety and uncertainty. The 2 songs tells stories about the real meaning of life. A life running low of dopamine, setting the tone for a bleak and experimental approach whilst writing this record, built up from a very percussive foundation. The dark synth laden ambience sucking in the empty space that surrounds the blistering guitar and bass, like a vacuum, voiding existence. Siti’s screeching vocals approaches death, not as a cry for help but as a fatalistic prose to justify means of sacrifice in the struggle against segregation and bondage. Side A and B features one song each, which translates to “You are born to fight” and “You are born to die”. “Zaman Edan” itself means Age of Craziness or Mad Times in English. To put it simply, this record is about all the broken promises that the state made towards minority voices, and continues to make in this perpetual Zaman Edan” (Hafiz) The artwork of the single was once again done by drummer Izzad Radzali Shah perfectly matching image and sound. One time pressing. 500 black / 300 white (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)

Rising from the ashes of early-’80s East Bay punk bands Treason and Teenage Warning, Christ On Parade took the sound in new directions, combining to-the-point political lyrics and an unwavering DIY spirit with a driving hardcore assault. With the support of Maximum Rocknroll’s Tim Yohannan and others in the Bay Area punk scene, the band quickly gained a strong local following. Their debut LP, 1985’s Sounds of Nature, was originally released on legendary punk artist Pushead’s Pusmort label (Poison Idea, Septic Death). The liner notes state: “You can’t change anything by waiting for the “revolution” - you have to start living it today, creating a real community amongst the sterility of our modern world, and eventually the system will wither away.” Christ On Parade can also claim the honor of headlining the first ever show at Berkeley’s long-running 924 Gilman venue. • “Once the sadness of their 2020 canceled American tour was gone, Chain Cult went back to the practice space to write new songs, it was a perfect way to keep finding meaning in a world at a standstill. They are back stronger than ever with two new raging post-punk anthems, they’re bringing exactly what we need in these troubled times. These two songs give us elements for reflection on our lives, a good occasion to think about what we miss and what we want for the future. « We’re not Alone » and « Always a mess » show the band at its best. The very powerful rhythm section allows the guitarist to play the most beautiful and dark melodies and the singer to chant the catchy choruses that Chain Cult is known for. During uncertain times, it is good to be surrounded by people you trust to continue moving forward ; in this spirit Chain Cult has kept the same recipe as for their previous records. No one can say what the future holds and we can’t act like this is normal but always shall we remember that we’re not alone in this world” (Nico Destructure) (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)
