2018 Remastered Version. The first of Bowie's legendary Berlin trilogy and the one that broke the most ground. It also caused so much consternation in the NME offices that they ran two reviews, one praising it to the skies, the other bewildered by Bowie's move towards the chilly electronic sounds that bore the influence of krautrock, particularly that of Kraftwerk and Neu! Collaborating with Brian Eno and produced by the genius Tony Digitally remastered edition. Heroes is the twelfth studio album by the iconic singer/songwriter, originally released on RCA Records in October 1977. The second installment of his Berlin Trilogy recorded with Brian Eno and Tony Visconti, Heroes continued the ambient experiments of Bowie's previous album Low (released earlier that year) and featured the contributions of King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp. Of the three albums, it was the only one wholly recorded in Berlin. Recorded at Hansa Tonstudio in what was then West Berlin, Heroes reflected the zeitgeist of the Cold War, symbolized by the divided city. Co-producer Tony Visconti considered it "one of my last great adventures in making albums. (Parlophone Records)

  • Brand new limited edition 50th Anniversary 2 X 7" Box Set with poster and photo print. As part of the ongoing celebrations marking 50 years since David Bowie’s first hit, and following announcements of the Spying Through A Keyhole, Clareville Grove Demos and the “Mercury" Demos collections, Parlophone is releasing a very special double 7” single of Space Oddity featuring brand new remixes by Tony Visconti. The set and a 1 track digital single of the single edit of the 2019 mix of Space Oddity for streaming and download will be released by Parlophone on 12th July, 2019, the day after the single’s 50th anniversary. Space Oddity 50th anniversary double 7” set will come in a box including a double-sided poster featuring an original Space Oddity press advertisement and a Ray Stevenson shot of David taken on stage at the Save Rave ‘69 concert at the London Palladium on 30th November, 1969, the backdrop featuring a N.A.S.A. astronaut. The set also includes an information card and a print featuring an alternative shot by Jojanneke Claassen from the Space Oddity promo single cover session. A facsimile of the original ultra-rare unissued UK picture sleeve has been used for the cover of the original mono single, which, along with the label, features the original Philips trademark specifically cleared for this 50th anniversary release. The single itself has been cut from the original analogue single master tape. The jacket housing the 2019 remixes by Tony Visconti is a new design featuring an alternative Ray Stevenson shot from the Save Rave ‘69 concert to that on the poster. First released as a 7-inch single on 11 July 1969, Space Oddity was also the opening track of his second studio album, David Bowie. Initially inspired by Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey, the song gained huge popularity when it was adopted as the unofficial theme of the Apollo 11 Moon landing mission which launched five days after the single’s release. Over the past 50 years Space Oddity has been on a journey as long and as far as its main character, Major Tom. Originally written and demoed in November 1968, the song has gone through many guises from appearing in the filmed for television special Love You Til Tuesday in an earlier recorded incarnation with John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, to being recorded in Italian (Ragazzo solo, Ragazza sola), winning an Ivor Novello Special Award for Originality in May 1970, being Bowie’s first hit on both sides of the Atlantic (#5 in the U.K. in 1969, #1 in the U.K. in 1975 and #15 in the U.S. in 1973), having no less than three videos made for it and in 2013 was performed by Canadian astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield, while aboard the International Space Station, and became the first music video shot in space. Major Tom remained a motif for Bowie throughout his career revisiting the character in the songs Ashes to Ashes, Hallo Spaceboy and in the music video for ★. Bowie's classic 1976 album featuring: golden years, tvc15 and the title track - 6 tracks - 35 minutes - like albums used to be - digitally remastered. an eerie dispatch from the furthest reaches of bowie's cocaine paranoia, station to station has not become easier to listen to with the passing years. at this stage, bowie was wrapped up in his peculiar—even by his standards—thin white duke period, which revolved largely around dressing like a fugitive war criminal and not blinking, at least not in public. appropriate to such a detached, deranged persona, bowie set about making what was effectively a soul record devoid of any soul whatsoever. he did it, as well. station to station spawned one lingering hit, in "golden years", but the album was littered with malevolent miracles. bowie crooned like a replica sinatra on "word on a wing" and "wild is the wind" and may have single-handedly invented the new romantic movement with "tvc15". he sounds throughout on the verge of cackling dementedly and wandering off into the night; station to station is an absorbing postcard from somewhere you're kind of glad you haven't been. Now available on 180g Audiophile vinyl. (Parlophone/2017)

180 Gram Vinyl. With 1970's 'The Man Who Sold the World', David Bowie set aside his pop and singer-songwriter aspirations and headed in a harder-rocking direction. Producer Tony Visconti provided a thick, dense setting with guitarist Mick Ronson playing the role of guitar hero to Bowie's megalomaniac frontman; think Keith Richards and Mick Jagger sprinkled with fairy dust. The new approach flowered on 'Hunky Dory', but the outline for the master plan is here. The title track, 'The Width of a Circle,' and 'All the Madmen' are essential Bowie, as he slips from cryptic to straightforward, celebratory wordplay. Textured cover, LP in poly-lined inner sleeve. Additional replica of the original paper inner sleeve included. 180 Gram Vinyl. (Parlophone/2015)
  • The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (often shortened to Ziggy Stardust) is the fifth studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 16 June 1972 in the United Kingdom by RCA Records. It was produced by Bowie and Ken Scott and features Bowie's backing band the Spiders from Mars — Mick Ronson, Trevor Bolder and Mick Woodmansey. Most of the songs were written around the same time as its predecessor Hunky Dory. After that album was completed, recording for Ziggy Stardust commenced in November 1971 at Trident Studios in London, with further sessions in early February 1972. Described as a rock opera and a loose concept album, Ziggy Stardust concerns Bowie's titular alter ego Ziggy Stardust, a fictional androgynous, bisexual rock star who is sent to Earth as a savior before an impending apocalyptic disaster. The character was inspired by numerous musicians, including English singer Vince Taylor. Most of the album's concept was developed after the songs were recorded. The character was retained for the subsequent Ziggy Stardust Tour. A concert film of the same name, directed by D. A. Pennebaker, was filmed in July 1973 and released in 1979, and a live album from the same show followed in 1983. The music on Ziggy Stardust has been characterised as glam rock and proto-punk. Unlike its predecessor Hunky Dory, which was generally piano-led, the songs on Ziggy Stardust are primarily guitar-based, mostly due to the departure of keyboardist Rick Wakeman. The songs were influenced by Iggy Pop of the Stooges, Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground, and Marc Bolan of T. Rex. The album's lyrics discuss the artificiality of rock music, political issues, drug use, sexual orientation and stardom. The album cover, photographed by Brian Ward in monochrome and recoloured by Terry Pastor, was taken in London, outside the home of furriers "K. West". Preceded by the single "Starman", Ziggy Stardust peaked at number 5 on the UK Albums Chart and number 75 on the US Billboard 200. The album received widespread critical acclaim and, following his performance of "Starman" on the English television programme Top of the Pops, propelled Bowie to stardom. Not wanting Ziggy to define him, Bowie created a new character, Aladdin Sane, for his next album, which Bowie described as "Ziggy goes to America". It has since been called one of the most important albums in the glam rock genre and one of the greatest albums of all time. The album has been reissued several times and was remastered in 2012 for its 40th anniversary. In 2017, it was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry, being deemed "culturally, historically, or artistically significant" by the Library of Congress. • Double 180 Gram Vinyl. 'Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture' is a live album by David Bowie, corresponding to the film of the same name. The music was recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in London on 3 July 1973, although the album was not issued by RCA Records until 1983. This is nearly the complete goodbye concert and earns it's place in rock history. How many other artists create an alter ego and how many reach the greatness of this strange, red haired alien? The set list has considerable overlap with the 'Santa Monica '72' album because of the focus on the 'Ziggy Stardust' studio album but this also draws on the 'Aladdin Sane' album. (Parlophone/2016)

  • ‘Reaching For Eternity’ is the 3rd album from Portland, OR’s Daydream. To say this newest offering paints outside the lines of the average punk record is an understatement. By any measure, this is a through and through hardcore punk record, but there are many pop and art elements giving these 12 tracks a quality that necessitates multiple listens to fully grasp the depths of what this record has to offer. Very smart lyrics that are delicately yelled over top notch musicianship brings to mind more modern groups such as CRAZY SPIRIT, STRAW MAN ARMY or POISON RUIN mixed with the FLUX OF PINK INDIANS, DISCHARGE and the entire Dischord Records catalog (at least from VOID to FUGAZI). These songs are as tough as they are beautiful. Uncomforting as they are soothing. Genre defying without feeling disingenuine or cheesy. Bottom line is: this is one of the better, more creative punk records of 2023. Label: Sabotage, Black Water

  • " Polish death 'n' rollers Daymares put together a decent debut in their 2007 release, Can't Get Us All. They fused crusty punk, metal and death 'n' roll (a-la Entombed) to craft eleven rockin' tracks for SelfMadeGod Records that certainly were chock full of attitude and their latest EP, the six track Toothless & Fanged continues on from where the band left us last time, and even includes a Neurosis cover as well. It's a punked fuelled fiery opener in Annuit Coeptis that sets the scene and reminds me just why I dug their debut. The slower parts only add to the tracks intensity when it kicks up a few gears, and is just the right length to make a solid impact. Fury levels increase on the gang vocal heavy Never Relent which is more punk than anything else and that attitude carries over seamlessly to the fun as hell Who Laughs Last. The longest track, the epic four plus minute Words One Loves To Hate swaps pace for groove and it works a treat and certainly injects something new into the EP before the short, sharp title track, Toothless & Fanged, rolls up a healthy balance of the group's main influences - punk and death 'n' roll. The EP is rounded out with the group's cover of the Neurosis track Life On Your Knees (which originally appeared the group's first album, Pain Of Mind) which fits the band's mantra like a glove. Toothless & Fanged is another fine effort from this Polish group. If their debut floated your boat, then this EP will as well. It's that simple." (Get By Records)
