  • THE GERMS | gi | LP

(GI) is the debut and only studio album by American punk rock band the Germs recorded in 1978 and released in 1979. Often considered the first hardcore punk album. One of the leading bands of the ’70s Los Angeles punk scene, the Germs (Darby Crash, Pat Smear, Lorna Doom, and Don Bolles) only released one studio album before the untimely death of lead singer Crash at the age of 22. Equal parts Sex Pistols and Iggy Pop, the band’s legendary live shows bordered on chaos, with Crash having a tendency to cover himself with whatever food was located nearby while diving into the crowd whenever possible. The lone album the band did manage to record, (GI), was produced by Joan Jett and features 16 tracks of unbridled garage-punk bliss. (Fan Club/Unofficial)
  • Radio Raheem proudly presents another slice of long-lost New York Hardcore, The High and The Mighty's 1984 "Crunch On" demo tape, available here for the first time on vinyl. Featuring ex- and future- members of Antidote and the infamous Mighty CO's, The High and The Mighty bust out eight tracks of pure early 80's New York Hardcore that kept fists and boots flying well into the wee hours at A7 and beyond. (Radio Raheem Records)
  • The Hives’ 1997 debut “Barely Legal”made available on vinyl again. After being out of print for years, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the landmark album by releasing it on heavy quality black vinyl. The Hives’ debut shot thru the punk community like a runaway locomotive, with faster-than-fast blistering punk that had the punks cheering and raising bottles and cans, but left most of the mainstream going “oh...wel...uhm what?” (Burning Heart Records/2017) https://vimeo.com/73582300

Veni Vidi Vicious re-released on silver vinyl. Rousing, stompin' garage rock from these Swedes, with plenty of mod and frantic punk energy to keep you grooving along. Party Party! they seem to be saying, and you just want to join. This is definite change-up from the usual hyperspeed pop-ska-punk dross offered on Epitaph. Perhaps this arises from the fact that these guys are only distributed on Epitaph and yet are actually on the Burning Heart imprint. Plenty of fuzzed, struttin', propulsive guitar work on this disc to assault your ears. Well worth your time to take a spin. More records like this need to exist. (Burning Heart Records/2017)
  • Pure is the debut EP by The Jesus Lizard, released in 1989. 120 gram virgin vinyl pressed at RTI. • Originally released a mere eight months after their groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut LP (RAD 8002LP), The Kids' second album is a pure masterpiece of straightforward punk rock. A little less raw than their previous material, but still far from the new wave sounds the band started experimenting with on their following records, Naughty Kids remains one of the best examples of non-UK '70s punk and definitely a mandatory addition to the collection of any Killed by Death fanatic! This reissue also includes five bonus tracks recorded live in 1978 (RED VINYL LIMITED TO 150) (Radiation Records) https://thekids.bandcamp.com/album/the-kids

Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, The Kids formed in 1976 to prove to the world that punk was more than just a London vs New York fashion contest. Originally released on the Philips label in 1978, and highly acclaimed as one of the best punk records EVER, The Kids' debut album is now reissued on vinyl, with two bonus tracks recorded in 1977. This is pure and quintessential punk rock. The second release on Radiation Deluxe Series, this classic punk LP is reissued on 180-gram vinyl in a deluxe 350-gram cardboard sleeve. • While Montego Bay natives Jackie Bernard, his brother Footy Bernard and cousin Lloyd Kerr recorded under various guises in the early '60s, their collective arrival as The Kingstonians in 1967 marked a sea change not only in the vocal trio's productivity and popularity, but also in the emerging Reggae sound. The Kingstonians made several chart-topping singles between 1968 and 1970, including the massive hit "Singer Man" whose success ultimately led to the release of their sole LP, Sufferer. Originally issued on Trojan, Sufferer collects a dozen of The Kingstonians' best-known songs. Produced by Derrick Harriott, these truly boss sounds would pack dancehalls on the island as well as become the soundtrack for working-class youth across '70s Britain. The title track remains a classic of the early Reggae era with impeccable arrangements, stuttering organ and soul-steeped lyrics. The Kingstonians' shift away from Rocksteady modes is perhaps most apparent on the aforementioned "Singer Man" – an irresistible forward groove, prompting a deeper danceability that is rightly centered on real feeling. Antarctica Starts Here presents the first-time domestic release of Sufferer. Reproducing the original sleeve design, this reissue is part of an archival series that focuses on Trojan's essential '60s and '70s catalogue. Liner notes by Laurence Cane-Honeysett. The Last Resort's debut album is an unrelenting piece of UK Oi!, absolutely essential to any fan of the genre. Originally released in 1982, the album reveals influences of a.o. Sham 69 and The Cockney Rejects, but not without a strong personality of its own). (Radiation Records)

Black leather, spikes and chains, The Lewd is, as Dirk Dirksen put it, "One of them kind of acts." Their 1982 album, "American Wino," is violent, ugly, perverse and frightening. The songs betray a bleak and ominous vision of American life seen through the eyes of youth without hope of a future. This is not the San Francisco sound of the '60s, but rather the belligerent sounds of these Seattle transplants' fight for survival on the gritty streets where the dejection of last generation's Utopian failures meets the stark realities of economic deprivation. This is fast, jarring and furious punk rock at its finest. Long languishing in obscurity due to its rarity, the reissue of this seminal LP makes it a compulsory component of any punk rock record collection. (Fan Club)

  • In many ways The Mob were the archetypal anarcho punk band. Formed in Yeovil, Somerset in 1979 the band soon spent their time permanently on the road in a convoy of trucks before squatting in Brougham Road, Hackney – a street of houses that accommodated many punk and counter-culture types. Until their demise in 1983 they remained an integral part and a huge influence on the anarcho, traveller and free festival scenes. Their first release was the 1980 Crying Again single on their own All The Madmen label, followed later that year by the Ching cassette. 1981 saw another single the hugely popular and haunting Witch Hunt soon followed by their now legendary Crass single No Doves Fly Here, both taking anarcho punk into new musically unchartered waters. 1983 saw the release of their now legendary album Let The Tribe Increase, an album that saw them moving away from the constraints of the punk sound as they continued to push the musical boundaries. This trend continued in their epic single The Mirror Breaks. The Mob’s invlovement with the counterculture saw them playing gigs with archetypal hippies Here & Now and Androids of Mu as well as being actively involved in the Persons Unknown and Centro Iberico anarchist centres and the Black Sheep Housing Co-operative.Eventually The Mob dissolved with Joseph Porter joining Zounds before founding Blyth Power. Let The Tribe Increase includes the full album, both tracks from the Mirror Breaks 7” and a previously unheard demo version of Stay, all professionally remastered. Packaged in a 12-page booklet it contains a band history and the events that surrounded the recording of the album by Kill Your Pet Puppy fanzine editor Alistair Livingston. (Overground Records)

  • I became a fan of The Mojomatics when their last album, Don't Pretend That You Know Me, was released on Alien Snatch records. Their newest release is on a new label, but the hodge podge of sounds that I loved on their last album are present on this record as well. The Mojomatics is a hard band to pin down. They have some straight up pop songs, some harmonica tinged country ramblers and some swamp stomping garage-y blasts. Definitely a band not content writing the same song over and over and it gives the album a fresh & dynamic feel. • Nipple Erectors (and their more politely named abbreviation, the Nips) their first ever legitimate LP vinyl. To be fair, we've been asked many times to do reissue the Nips on vinyl down the years. So, what you get on this new Nipathon LP are both sides of each of the group's three Soho singles, each one a perfect example of Great British Punk. Plus you have two tracks - again from the first sessions - that saw light of day for the first time on the vinyl BBB+B. You also get the young Shane MacGowan in fine growling form, a young and renowned punk about town and still very much the "King Of The Bop" rather than the "King Of The (alcoholic) Pop" that he later became in his years as a Professional Irishman and frontsperson of Pogue Mahone/The Pogues. (Now there's a good bit of trivia for you - Shane might well be the only person in the world to have fronted two bands that have had to shorten their name to avoid public outrage, and to get their records played on the radio!). You also get Shane's then best gal Shanne Bradley, fresh from being preserved for posterity (allegedly) as the subject of the Sex Pistols' mighty Satellite and learning to become the pretty good bass player that she eventually did become as a member of the Pogues' 80s contemporaries the Men They Couldn't Hang. You get 20-odd minutes of uproarious music that has stood the test of time rather better than has a lot of 1978's 'new wave' outpourings - including at least two undisputed genre classics in the anthemic (Gab-gab-gab) Gabrielle and the wild garage riffola of All The Time In The World. And, most of all, you get the musical answer to Mr MacGowan's time-honoured question that's been baffling music historians for a quarter of a century, "Why do - theycallmethekingofthabop?" No need to bother with the answers on a postcard. They're all here. Still want bovver? Then you're in the right place for it. Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough... (Ace Records)
  • Back in 1983 Tokyo’s NURSE released what probably is the first Japanese all female hardcore record on the cult label Incest Records (INC-002). A red 7” Flexi which showed 4 innocent looking girls on the cover but displayed an unheard amount of ferocious hard hitting hardcore punk on the 8 songs Flexi produced by Baki of EXECUTE/ GASTUNK. The Following year the almighty ADK Records added them to their roster releasing a 5 track EP (ADK-13E ) produced by label owner Tam of TYPHUS/ STALIN fame. The speed went down a notch but the rawness and aggression was still there. Sadly that record marked the end of NURSE’s recording career. Had they released an LP they’ll be heralded as highly as COMES which usually is the first band that comes to mind to most people when thinking of female fronted Japanese bands. After years of their recordings been deleted on vinyl, both singles becoming absolute staples on any Japanese punk want list and the band’s underground following growing, La Vida Es Un Mus decided to repress both 7”s on a heavy weight LP to make sure a new generation discover the excellence of one of the all time great under rated bands. (La Vida En Us Mus Records)

  • "Presented on 140-GRAM VINYL, this is a deluxe release of an Australian radio broadcast live recording from The Offspring's classic 1995 tour." No strangers to the live scene, The Offspring leapt at the chance to capitalise on their newfound success, and the ?Smash Tour 1995? spanned a staggering 214 dates worldwide between 1994 and 1996. These gigs were received particularly well in Australia, the one country where Smash had topped the charts. The band played 11 shows there in 1995, many of which were subject to live FM broadcasts, both nationally and in the US, and it is a collection of the best of these that features of this deluxe vinyl release. Gathering together a wide array of classics from their catalogue, including their three recent singles, this set showcases a band hurtling towards international fame. (Parachute Recordings Company)

The Offspring's metal-inflected punk became a popular sensation in 1994, selling over four million albums on an independent record label. While the group's credentials and approach follow the indie rock tradition of the '80s, sonically they sound more like an edgy, hard-driving heavy metal band, with their precise, pulsing power chords and Dexter Holland's flat vocals. Featuring Holland, guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman, bassist Greg Kriesel, and drummer Ron Welty, the Offspring released their self-titled debut album in 1989. Four years later, their second album, Ignition, became an underground hit, setting the stage for the across-the-board success of 1994's Smash, which still holds the record as the biggest selling indie release of all time.
