TOXIC HOLOCAUST mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal into his ideal band. Like his influences - Bathory, Venom, Discharge, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones - TOXIC HOLOCAUST featured blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world. Grind wrapped all of these elements up with a DIY attitude.. (SPV)

TOXIK EPHEX | scraps | LP

    16.00 incl. tax
Limited edition of 250 copies. Singles, outtakes & live tracks. "Alongside Oi Polloi, A.O.A., Alternative and Political Asylum, Toxik Ephex were another of the very few anarchist bands from Scotland noted to have been associated with Crass. Life began early for the original members, forming the band 'The Abductors' on the day Sid Vicious died in 1979 while they were all still schoolboys. The following year in 1980, the band had developed a questionable reputation and had to change their name to Toxik Ephex, which was taken from a medical book, from Fred whom was working as a pharmacy technician at the time. Gigging then began and soon enough, the band went into the 62 Club to record their song 'Police Brutality' on a reel to reel machine which was cut from a live show. It was sent to Crass, and released in 1982 for the Bullshit Detector 2 album. However, by 1982 the band was starting to become inactive, which led to their drummer Jimmy selling his drum set and leaving the band, being replaced by Chiz, and Trouper also being replaced by Mikey 'Gloo Pimp' Smith on bass. Afterwards, Gary left and was replaced by Dod Copland on vocals, and Fred's brother Dave Wilkinson filled in rhythm guitar until Steve Anderson took over. Unfortunately, Steve Anderson was replaced by Frank Benzie, and this became Toxik Ephex's 'classic' line-up. With keeping the 'Do it yourself' attitude, Fred started his own label called Green Vomit Records. With support from Oi Polloi, and money raised from their gigs, Toxik Ephex entered Pier House Studios in Edinburgh to record their 'Punk as Fuck' single. the original singles were handmade and sold out very quickly, so they were repressed, but with printers this time due to popular demand. The three song titles: 'Fallout Shelter', 'Always Skint' and 'Nothing's Permissive' pretty much summed up what the band's views were of contemporary life. In 1987, Toxik Ephex teamed up with Oi Polloi and released the split L.P. 'Mad as Fuck'. The record was recorded the exact same way the one before it was. It was featured on Fred's label and recorded in the same studio. The record gave the band yet another boost, and they soon began working on their next E.P. 1989 saw a split E.P. release by Toxik Ephex and Shrapnel on the Words of Warning label. During the same year, the band recorded their debut album 'The Adventures of Nobby Porthole the Cock of the North'. The band carried on, but the unemployment and lack of money were starting to get the best of the band. They could had signed on to big labels, but the band refused to sell out which led to their demise. Fred left the band to play elsewhere, and Chiz followed slightly after. This is when Toxik Ephex disappeared. Fortunately, every now and then the band reappears to play random one-off gigs around their area with a constantly changing line-up, and still do to this day. 2006 saw a new 7" titled 'Civilised' release. In 2007, their retrospective double CD was released titled 'Punk as Two Fucks'." http://anarchoscene.blogspot.com (Mad Butcher Records)

  • TRAGEDY | self titled | LP

    14.00 incl. tax
Official Repress of the first TRAGEDY Album on Skuld Releases, this time in the original package of the US Pressing (Tragedy Records) - From the opening acoustic intro to the last dark, thrashed out note this is one seriously intense album. The obvious comparisons His Hero Is Gone and From Ashes Rise are there for sure but to me this has a bit more of a straight up hardcore feel to it. That said though, this has some excellent heavy pounding drum beats happening and some changes in pace, pitch and mood that are so tight and sudden they scream for your attention. The harsh throaty vocals belt out lyrics that are written as single block paragraphs dealing with overtly sociopolitical issues all looked at from a less than positive point of view. This record is very heavy, very angry and although you will probably like it, it will not make you happy! (Skuld Records)
  • TRAGEDY | vengeance | LP

Official Repress of the second TRAGEDY Album on Skuld Releases, this time in the original package of the US Pressing (Tragedy Records) - This is the sound of impending doom! The songs are epic, melodic, powerful and crushing - all at once!! Tragedy is fast and extremely heavy hardcore with melancholic melodies and pissed off as fuck vocals. I would say that this record is even better than their first one, even when I thought that this is not possible. You can taste the athmosphere of the songs, while the music crawls under your skin - awesome! (Skuld Records)

  • Outstanding discography Lp from this Cult Yugoslav hardcore band. Most people know their track on Welcome to to 1984 and some have picked up the Corpus Delecti 7" re issue, this Lp contains those, plus more comp tracks, demos and out takes. Unlike a lot of barrel scraping discographies, all the material on here is top notch, even the demo and out take stuff. Really raw and aggro hardcore, sounds like a perfect mix of Discharge and Wretched. Totally excellent. (Rest In Punk Records)

    UNDERDOG | matchless | CD

    10.00 incl. tax
In the late '80s, Underdog were a staple of the New York hardcore scene. The band was spearheaded by vocalist Richie Birkenhead, who played guitar in Youth of Today between 1986 and 1987, and Russ 'Wheeler' Iglay, who did time in Murphy's Law. And while Underog only lasted four years and went through numerous lineup changes, they made their mark with tight, punchy and melodic songs and lots of cool skateboard imagery. On May 18, the band's discography will be reissued on a CD titled 'Matchless.' "This release has been a long time coming," said Iglay. "We're glad that it's going to see the light of day this spring on Bridge Nine, and we can't wait to get out there and play more shows this year."
The album features the 1988 demo 'Over the Edge,' which scored Underdog a deal with Caroline Records, and the full album 'The Vanishing Point,' produced by the legendary Don Fury (Agnostic Front, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits).
Back in 1989, Underdog supported 'The Vanishing Point' with a full U.S. tour, but the members weren't getting along and after they arrived back home they canceled their European tour and decided to go on hiatus. The break seemed permanent until 1998, when the band did a reunion tour. (Bridge 9 Records)

  • Uniform Choice originally formed in 1982 in Newport Beach, CA and in September 1982, recorded these four tracks known as the "Orange Peel Sessions". This era of the band did not feature the members that played on the "Screaming For Change" record and is indeed a very different sounding band with a style much more akin to the Orange County beach punk at the time or late-'70s UK bands. This 7" still serves as an important documentation of one of OC's best bands at their infancy as well as a snapshot of that time and scene in general. (Dr. Strange Records)
  • (Shipping: October) One of the greatest American Hardcore releases of the 80s’ gets the deluxe Southern Lord reissue treatment! "Screaming For Change" was the debut album from Orange County, Californias’ godfathers of positive Hardcore: Uniform Choice. It was originally released in 1986 on the bands own label: Wishing Well Records. Vocalist Pat Dubar recently contacted Southern Lord with the desire to have a official re-issue of the classic album “done right”. After several unauthorized, completely sub-par bootlegs appeared Pat wanted a definitive version released to set the record straight! This essential piece of hardcore history has been remastered from the original tapes by Brad Boatright (Excel, Nails, High on Fire, YDI, Brotherhood). The elaborate packaging includes a 8 page 12”x12” booklet bound into a stoughton tip-on gatefold jacket. There are a ton of amazing, never before published photos from the personal archives of the band and their friends. This is a very special release that is not to be missed! (Southern Lord Records)

  • UNIT PRIDE was a band from California's Bay Area that was a part of the late-'80s "youth crew" hardcore scene. The singer, Eric Ozenne, went on to front THE NERVE AGENTS (Hellcat/Revelation), REDEMPTION 87 (Blackout/New Age), and SAID RADIO (Mankind). This collection includes the long-out-of-print UNIT PRIDE Then And Now 7", originally released in 1988 on Step Forward Records, as well as their even rarer, self-released Holding On Strong demo from 1987. Originally reissued by Mankind Records in 2002, this is the first new vinyl re-pressing of this release in over 10 years. FOR FANS OF: GORILLA BISCUITS, SIDE BY SIDE, YOUTH OF TODAY. Tracks A1 to A6 recorded in July 1988 @ Razor's Edge Studio, San Francisco. Previously released as the "Then And Now" 7" EP in 1988 on Step Forward Records. Tracks B1 to B8 recorded in January 1988 @ Maximum Rocknroll. Previously released as the "Holding On Strong" demo tape in 1988. Printed lyric insert included. Blue vinyl + CD. (Mankind Records)
  • Originally founded in 1980 under the name Dark Self Image by brothers Jay and John Fox, United Mutation sprang from musical influences most hardcore punks either ignored, or denied knowing existed. The dementedly tranquil sounds of The Grateful Dead, the lysergic space rock of Hawkwind, and the complex arrangements of the ultimate anti-hippie Frank Zappa were some of their favorites, but when local punk bands started to pop out their own self-financed vinyl, it inspired them just as much — if not more — as those rare bits of strangeness major labels would release from time to time. Informed in equal parts by self-released singles from their local favorites the Teen Idles and ½ Japanese, the band came upon their own unique sound which combined the breakneck pace of hardcore with a frantic and cathartic take on psychedelia. In 1982 United Mutation entered celebrated D.C. punk recording studio Inner Ear to lay down two sessions, the first with their original lineup of the Fox brothers, vocalist John “Monk” Harding and drummer Sean Sumner, followed by a second session for the Outside Records compilation "Mixed Nuts Don’t Crack", featuring new vocalist and former Dark Self Image drummer, Mike Brown. 1983 saw the band return to Inner Ear to record their debut 7” E.P. "Fugitive Family", a split release between Dischord Records and the band’s newly minted D.S.I. label. "Fugitive Family" is the most well-known of any of the band’s output, due to perhaps the inclusion of the Dischord logo on the back cover, or the sheer mind-blistering assault of the six tracks contained on the original record. This LP compiles all of the aforementioned recordings — 26 tracks total, 6 of which are previously unreleased — all faithfully restored from the original master tapes at Inner Ear for maximum aural freak out. Also included is a 24-page full-color booklet chock full of the band’s politically-tinged xerox collage artwork, housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring more of the same. We’re proud to call this the definitive collection of early United Mutation material!
