    PARANOID | cursed | LP

    28.00 incl. tax
PARANOID's fourth album offers 10 more tracks of their trademark metallic punk. While the sound is as powerful as ever, Cursed is their darkest and most melodic release as well. Part of the band's First Ten Years 2012-2022 vinyl reissue series. "Whether you’re the old guy at the bar with the Discharge tattoo, or the 14 year-old who just discovered punk, Paranoid will bring out your inner discontent. D-beat is an interesting genre, either you do it well, or you don’t. Paranoid, dare I say, have completely mastered the genre and everything from their tone to their album artwork embodies what it means to be in a d-beat band. There is no bullshit attached to this record"—CVLT Nation Japanese-obsessed Swedish maniacs PARANOID always go full-out on their releases, constantly putting out fresh stuff without losing quality. With just two tracks here, they solidify the direction that they are going in: heavy me(n)tal punk! Tatari is a companion 7″ to their digitally-released album Cursed, and pressed as a gift to whomever bought it through Bandcamp. The two songs are well balanced and make for great headbanging music for punks and metalheads alike. The leads get stuck in your head like any great heavy metal band’s licks would, and the steady beat reminds you that this is still a punk band in essence. Metal or punk? Who cares? You can see punk in VENOM as much as you can see metal in ANTI-CIMEX. Issue MRR #473 • October 2022 Label: D-Takt & Råpunk Records – DTAKT124, PND – PND15-LP

10 years after their last release on Agipunk, we're happy to welcome the kings of stench-core back under our flag. HELLSHOCK are still standing relevant and still playing some of the heaviest riffs in the world wide punk scene. Where most bands of the crust genre seem to lose the fire and filth or simply break up before their prime, this band seems to get more powerful with each release and this long awaited LP is no exception! This recording features the addition of Robbie Chronic from RIPPER on guitar who adds some real sick fucking solos on top of the established rolling crust riffage that the original core group had perfected years ago. Neck aching tempos, sheer brutality, growled anguished vocals, and epic song writing without straying from pure unadulterated crust. For the seasoned HELLSHOCK fan, you know you will already love this album and it will only exceed expectations. For the newcomer, if they were to ask “what is this crust/stenchcore thing about?”, I would point them to AMEBIX, DEVIATED INSTINCT, AXEGRINDER, and HELLSHOCK. The name deserves to be right beside the creators and masters. In another 20+ years this record will be regarded as one of the best crust records of the 2020’s, just as we look back at “Only the Dead Know the End Of War” as a defining record of the early 2000’s. The story of Existence dates back to 2016 when a group of young Stockholm hardcore heads wanted to get into some good old Cro-Mags worship. After some changes in personnel, the current line-up of deranged idiots has been paving the way for a violent future since early 2017. They currently share members with several other bands, including Blood Sermon and Speedway and are all active in the local DIY community in different ways, for example running Alive and Well Fest. With an EP under their belt in 2018, several tours across Europe and beyond, as well as appearances on such stages as Outbreak, the sound began to evolve leading up to the masterpiece that is the debut LP, ‘Go to Heaven’. Clocking in at nearly 40 minutes we don't think anyone can truly be prepared for this insanely epic body of work. From Slayer, to Merauder, to H8000, to Arkangel to Integrity, this is a masterclass in metallic hardcore songwriting by the strong beating heart of Stockholm HC. Songs that take you on a journey from a classic metallic breakdown riff to acoustic guitar sections to sword samples needed a hand that was not afraid of the complexity, leading to Jonah Falco of Fucked Up on mixing duties giving this the depth that it deserved. At times introspective, and at other times classic brute force, the themes of the lyrics are well summed up with the painted artwork by Nora Löwenberg of a face behind shattered glass, exploring the multifaceted nature of humanity and the ever changing place of the self in today’s global world. So if this all sounds like your kind of hardcore, then listening to this LP will truly be… heaven. Label: Quality Control Records

Limited edition yellow vinyl of The Adicts’ fourth studio album. Released on RSD2023. Not since the 1980’s has this album been available on vinyl! Now with a new inner bag, lyrics and a previously unseen colour photo session. The Adicts came from Ipswich on the east coast of England, dressed in white in an amalgam of The Joker and Clockwork Orange imagery. Their previous two LPs had made a big impact in the UK, with singles entering the lower reaches of the national charts on Sire Records – (who insisted they change their provocative punky name to ADX or The Fun Adicts when on children's TV!). With catchy, glam-punk singalong tunes and theatrical shows, The Adicts still continue to grow their audience and have regularly toured the USA, UK and Europe. Side One: Na Na Na Na, I Am Yours, Too Much Of A Good Thing, Sure Looks Pretty, Don’t Let Go, Put Yourself In My Hands. Side Two: She’s A Rocker, Beauty Sleep, Change, Two Timing Me, Daggers, Going Home. (12 songs) (Fall Out Records)
  • In continuation of what's been one of the most prolific creative streaks of their 15-year career, Editors release the new best of album Black Gold featuring 13 tracks from their six studio albums, alongside three brand new offerings: "Upside Down," summer festival anthem "Frankenstein" and the gothically dramatic title track "Black Gold." Black Gold's cover photograph was shot by award-winning photographer Nadav Kander and the album artwork was designed by celebrated graphic designer Tom Hingston (Massive Attack, Chemical Brothers, The Rolling Stones). From their Mercury Prize shortlisted debut The Back Room, to No. 1 debuting An End Has A Start, platinum-selling In This Light and On This Evening, sprawling, transitional The Weight of Your Love, moody, self-produced In Dream and their sixth top-10 album in a row, 2018's explosive Violence, Editors have refused to either stay still or compromise. Black Gold is a chance to reflect on the past 15 years, but it also offers a glimpse into a very exciting future for one of the UK's most enduring and perhaps unexpected musical success stories of this century. From its onset, the tube-crunch surf guitar intro of "Rat Patrol," Throb Throb sizzles like grease in a frying pan until it comes to a halt some 30 minutes later. Like the tank on its cover, Throb is largely informed by an antagonism that rails against the Reaganism that helped spawn intelligent '80s post-punk groups much like Naked Raygun. Titles like "Surf Combat," a song about the effects of napalm at popular beaches, "Gear," a braggadocio commentary about nuclear weapons and the arms race, and "Managua," in which troops march to their impending death, exemplify Throb's political mentality and musical gravity, which are a direct result of the '80s Cold War. Naked Raygun sends the songs up with a sense-raping frazzle and dissonance. While not as furious as Hüsker Dü or as angry as the Misfits, Throb is no less vehement, and ever the more working-class. With comprehensible lyrics everyone can understand and chant, and a plethora of race-against-time guitar melodies, Throb is rare in that it appeals to academics as well as rednecks, straight-shooters as well as in-the-know punks. Borrowing from the big-guitar sound of English heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and carving catchy melodies usually reserved for Top 40 pop songs into firebrands like "I Don't Know" and "Libido," Naked Raygun assures Throb's place as a classic that is forever ahead of its time, regardless of when it is heard. Re-issue of Chicago punk legends Naked Raygun's album 'Throb Throb' – famously, the first live band Dave Grohl ever saw - ON CLEAR VINYL! Label: Audio PLatter Barcode: 803341523845

  • Released back in 2000 on cd format only, now reissued for the first time ever on vinyl. Cheltenham’s Horror Punk/Death Rockers The Screaming Dead, whose name is drawn from the English title of the 1972 horror film “Dracula contra Frankenstein” is one of the few bands that managed to authentically straddle the line between punk and gothic / goth rock in the early 80s. Like The Damned, the band’s oeuvre includes purist three chord punk alongside more nuanced gothic rock pieces. And similar to kindred souls in bands like The Dark and Siekiera, Screaming Dead’s early aggressive approach gave way, later in their career, to a more measured and atmospheric gothic sound. Songs like "Valley Of The Dead" or "Warcry", which still sound very originally like punk rock, already have a dark melancholy in them that foreshadows darker things. With "Night Creatures" or "20th Century Vampire" they have succeeded in creating absolute masterpieces, these songs take you into the night and leave you there. Towards the end, saxophone and organ come into play, it gets poppier, but also more dramatic, but remains darkly melancholic. There's a dirty undertone running through every song, which gives the overall work that extra punk touch. Screaming Dead from have created a new, very own sound. (Bomb All Records)

Originally issued in 1989 as “Take The Manic Ride” and released by SST Records. Guitarist Mike Niedermyer has this to say "The release of Manic Ride is essential to finish the history of past BL'AST! releases. It displays how off the beaten path BL'AST! is and always has been. The music and lyrics does not tread lightly. We're grateful to have Manic Ride's affiliation w/ Rat Sound/Dave Rat, SST Records and Southern Lord and for all of our friends, fans and family, as well as the BL'AST! blood brotherhood. People will only be pushed so far before they snap. And then violence ensues. Followed by an immediate need for solitude. ‘Human Outline’ is what that feeling sounds like. Fists packed, boots laced, ready to destroy everything in sight. Wound Man has always been a band heavily influenced by the likes of Crossed Out and Infest, that’s obvious, but what really makes them stand out is a heavy doom undercurrent that doesn’t necessarily come out in the riffs but the darkness of it is there. No rip-off shit, just tangible depression given to angry action via alternating/direct current. And that is some magnificent ugliness. 750 on black, 150 on white and 100 copies on translucent green 150gr vinyl housed in a reverse board 24pt jacket with insert and download card included. Recorded by the Meat Man. Mastered by Will Killingsworth. Art by Dean. (Iron Lung Records)

  • One could argue this is not the first time the seasoned doom/black metal band Agnes Vein from Thessaloniki, GR has come up against a tough situation. Ever since the “…Of Chaos And Law” EP in 2004 and the long line of liveshows and releases started to unravel, the road hasn’t been favourable. They took the time necessary to prepare and release their debut album, utilizing the experience from sharing the stage with Manilla Road and Brocas Helm among others. In 2010 the relationship with Venerate Industries would form. “Duality” made an impression in the underground metal scene manifesting the influences of Bathory, Candlemass, Neurosis and Celtic Frost and came to be a landmark. The process that is the preparation for an Agnes Vein album took another 3 years, without any shortcuts and by the spring of 2013, “Soulship” came to define the status of the band, driven by a darker and experimental mood. The slow, heavy and bleak sentiment of the record wore off on the whole band’s existence and in the years that followed the struggles would mount up. A line-up change, endless friction influences and a deep consideration marked the new era, which was also highlighted by a number of headline shows as well as joined appearances with Neurosis and Mantar. By the end of 2021, the new Agnes Vein album will be completed, commencing a new, dark era. Limited Edition Cassete. Only 100 copies available! (Venerate Industries)
