THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND NOVEMBER, THANKS! RÅPUNK documents the Swedish raw punk scene between 1981 and 1989. Inspired by bands like DISCHARGE, CRASS and DEAD KENNEDYS, the second wave of Swedish punk bands launched a furious, unique musical and visual onslaught that still affects and influences punk fans worldwide. Standard Edition 322 pages with a 3/4 dust jacket RÅPUNK documents the Swedish raw punk scene between 1981 and 1989. Inspired by bands like DISCHARGE, CRASS and DEAD KENNEDYS, the second wave of Swedish punk bands launched a furious, unique musical and visual onslaught that still affects and influences punk fans worldwide. The book captures the spirit of this era by featuring rare and never before seen photos of bands like ANTI-CIMEX, ASOCIAL, AVSKUM, DISARM, HUVUDTVÄTT/HEADCLEANERS, MISSBRUKARNA, MOB 47, MODERAT LIKVIDATION, RAPED TEENAGERS, RÖVSVETT, SKITSLICKERS, SVART PARAD, SVART SNÖ, SWANKERS PMS, TOTALITÄR and many, many more. It also documents the people — who by going to gigs, organising demonstrations, producing fanzines and releasing tapes and records — all represented different creative and ideological but equally important parts of the scene. RÅPUNK also features a great number of fanzines, posters, record and cassette artwork — all representing and encapsulating the scene’s raw, expressive and important Do It Yourself design aspect. Written by DAVID ANDERSSON — a member of the scene as a singer in IDENTITY and zine maker of BUBBEL-BAD — with a foreword by legendary NAPALM DEATH singer LEE DORRIAN, who toured Sweden at the time, and was one of the few promoters to bring the Swedish råpunk bands to the UK. The book fills a previously blank area on the map as this is the first time the Swedish raw punk scene of the 1980s gets a visual documentation in book form. • "Rage Against the Machine" (also known as American Composite) is the original demo tape by Rage Against the Machine, released in December 1991. The 12-track tape was recorded at Sunburst Studio in Los Angeles after drummer Brad Wilk joined the band but before they had played their first live show. When the band began performing live shows they sold the tape for $5, eventually selling approximately 5,000 copies. Shortly thereafter, the band was signed to a record deal with Epic Records on the strength of the demo's success. As well as being sold at early live shows, the demo tape was sent to a number of record companies to showcase the band. Atlantic Records was sent one and produced a number of copies which the label sold under its own name. The band later discovered this but decided not to take action. The Atlantic Records issued cassette tape features an entirely different cover than the band's self-released tape, with an artistic rendering of a man with a distorted and zippered face and the band's Rage Against the Machine moniker made apparently of lettering taken from different newspaper headlines. Seven of the 12 songs on the demo tape became part of the band's eponymous debut album. Of the five songs omitted—"Darkness of Greed", "Clear the Lane", "Mindset's a Threat", "Auto Logic", and "The Narrows"—the first 2 were eventually included as B-sides on the lead single from the debut album, "Killing in the Name", with the remaining 3 never seeing an official release. Several songs on the demo are nearly identical to the versions appearing on the debut album, but others have noticeable differences; the tempo of "Take the Power Back" on the demo, for example, is much slower and has a different final verse. The record is notable for the first appearance of the song "Bullet in the Head", which became a hit when reissued as a single later in the year after being transferred intact (with re-recorded vocals for the verses only) from the demo to the album. The song "Darkness of Greed" hails back to vocalist de la Rocha's previous band Inside Out, which broke up mid-1991. Inside Out performed the song on many occasions, and several RoIOs exist of those performances. (RATM later re-recorded the song for The Crow soundtrack.) Another significant indicator of Inside Out's influence on RATM's initial direction is the fact the name "Rage Against the Machine" is also the title of an Inside Out song. The main riff from "The Narrows" would later be reused as the main riff for "Fistful of Steel" and parts of "Mindset's a Threat" would later become a part of "Wake Up" and are present in "Freedom" and in the solo on "Bullet in the Head". The main riff for "Clear the Lane" is nearly identical to that used on their 2000 cover of The Rolling Stones' "Street Fighting Man". The songs "Darkness of Greed" and "Clear the Lane" were both digitally remastered and included as B-sides on the "Killing in the Name" single and have both been reissued on singles and promos many times since. Punk classic back in print! Milo Goes to College is the first full-length album by the American punk rock band the Descendents, released in 1982 through New Alliance Records. Its title referred to singer Milo Aukerman's decision to leave the band to attend college, and its cover illustration introduced a caricature of him that would go on to become the band's mascot. It was the Descendents' last record with founding guitarist Frank Navetta, who quit the band during the hiatus that followed its release. (New Alliance/Unofficial Release)

It’s going off and The Chisel are back to cause a bit of bovver. Following a trio of explosive singles, the band finally bring us their debut full-length album, Retaliation, on the London-based punk institution La Vida Es Un Mus. Having formed in early 2020 and featuring a crew of members with long-term associations to the London punk scene, The Chisel quickly secured a reputation as one of the most exciting bands from a pool of contemporaries that includes Chubby & The Gang, Stingray and Big Cheese. Their sound is rooted firmly in Punk but with influences that run across the board to create a distinctive blend of Oi!, anarcho, UK-82 and hardcore. Retaliation is an unmistakably British record that draws a line from 1982 up to the present day, pushing its way into your collection and torching your stereo. Opening with the agitated force of ‘Unlawful Execution’, the tone is firmly set by a song that addresses the brutality of the Met Police (“Tell me what’s the difference between right or wrong / When a copper gets to blast a lad who did nothing wrong”). ‘Come See Me’ is a ferocious ode to camaraderie in the face of mouthy boneheads and bellends. ‘Shit Life Syndrome’ is a poisoned reference to the same cynical phrase used by physicians to describe the effects of people living under poverty and in the grips of substance abuse (“How can you expect people to act nicely, they’ve all been left on the edge of society”). It’s one of many songs influenced by singer Cal’s experiences of growing up in the working-class town of Blackpool. Cal states: “Blackpool as a town is often overlooked or even looked down upon, I wanted to write lyrics which gave the people of my town a voice”. With tunes like these The Chisel show that they’ll never pull any punches. However, beyond the fury and the swagger there’s another side that plays to an additional strength; the ability to write a memorable hook. Songs like ‘Retaliation’, ‘Tooth & Nail’ and ‘Not The Only One’ could be described as modern day anthems (the latter has become a fan favourite since the arrival of their first live shows) and cement their identity as a band not to be defined by their influences. Retaliation is 14 tracks of dance floor-stomping-working class Chisel-music. Here and now, The Year of The Chisel. (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)

  • Defined by constant movement and dedicated to personal freedom, Turnstiles challenged us to play according to "New Rules" in 2011; "Step To Rhythm" and "Keep It Moving" in 2013; "Nonstop Feeling" in 2015 and "Come Back For More" in 2015, the latter through their 2016 debut album "Move Thru Me". Always more incentive than invitation, more liberation than restriction, Turnstile stretch out their hand again in 2018 with "Time & Space". Recorded with producer Will Yip at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, "Time & Space" marks Turnstile's Roadrunner debut and shows a band that, with a tremendous amount of heart, doesn't shy away from even the biggest language images of hardcore. Brendan Yates (vocals), Franz Lyons (bass/vocals), Brady Ebert (guitar), Pat McCrory (guitar) and Daniel Fang (drums) make hardcore punk that is young in mind and driven by youthful furor. Which aims to break down boundaries, both sonically and ideologically. Always looking outwards, "Time & Space" is the work of a band that operates without borders, is constantly growing and always moving at high speed. Stereogum: "The biggest hardcore band of the hour could be Turnstiles", Thrasher Magazine: "These guys are powerful", GQ attested: "Turnstiles are more than a hardcore band - they have a whole movement behind them". Already renowned for a ball-tearing live show, The Sniffers made their international debut as one of the hottest tipped acts at The Great Escape in 2018. Soon afterwards, they signed deals with both Rough Trade Records and ATO Records, made a massively hyped appearance at SXSW, and finally released their self-titled debut album in 2019, landing them an ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Award for Best Rock Album, capping off a wild year for the lunatic, likeable punks. Late in 2020, Amyl and The Sniffers went into the studio with producer Dan Luscombe to record their sophomore album, Comfort To Me. Written over a long year of lockdown, the album was influenced by and expanded on a heavier pool of references - old-school rock’n’roll (AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Motörhead and Wendy O Williams), modern hardcore (Warthog and Power Trip) and the steady homeland heroes (Coloured Balls and Cosmic Psychos). Lyrically, the album was influenced by Taylor’s rap idols and countless garage bands and in her words ‘I had all this energy inside of me and nowhere to put it, because I couldn’t perform, and it had a hectic effect on my brain. My brain evolved and warped and my way of thinking about the world completely changed.’ Seventeen songs were recorded in the Comfort to Me sessions and the top 13 made the cut. They were mixed long-distance by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, IDLES, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and mastered by Bernie Grundman (Michael Jackson, Prince, Dr Dre). Comfort To Me demonstrates the same irrepressible smarts, integrity and fearless candour as their debut but as you’d expect of any young band five years on, their sound has evolved, in Amy’s words it’s ‘raw self expression, defiant energy and unapologetic vulnerability.’ Label: Rough Trade Records Barcode: 1 91402 02501 9

BLACK FLAG | my war | LP

    18.00 incl. tax
With My War, the true Henry Rollins era of Black Flag begins. He was brought in to sing Greg Ginn’s songs for Damaged and with My War became a fully integrated member of the band, nudging the band towards slower tempos that emphasized their atonal freakouts. This slide towards MC5, free-jazz bust-outs put them at odds with punk rock’s insistence on short, fast rules. But it made the group a distinctive entity at a time when most hardcore punk bands were passing in a blur. Only the title track ever gained true notoriety, but tracks such as “Can’t Decide,” “Three Nights” and the eternal trudge of “Scream” make the case for Greg Ginn as one of the era’s most important guitar players. His solos are off the wall, while his riffage brings back the ghosts of early Black Sabbath at a time when Sabbath was fading from view. Rollins’ throaty, guttural vocal stabs recast the band as a formidable live outfit whose concerts were true endurance tests for all involved. (EU-SST Records/Unofficial Release)
  • SLANT | 1집 | LP

    24.00 incl. tax
SLANT are back with 17 minutes of pure bristling rage. Corrosive hardcore music for the pit AND the pendulum recalling the stomping catchy vibes of recent luminaries like BOSTON STRANGLER or VIOLENT REACTION but channeling back to previous 80s hitters in the YOUTH OF TODAY/MINOR THREAT vein too. All with an absolutely visceral feminine, ahem... slant to it. Ha, I couldn't resist that one. This band is a shining light in the South Korean scene and is anxious to get out in the world once the world happens again. We can't wait for you to see that. 400 copies on black, 100 on translucent pink and 100 on blue marble 150gr vinyl housed in a 24pt reverse board jacket with insert and download card inside. • "Crunchy grind is what comes to mind after listening to this 30 minute monster. I’ll be honest straight up. I’m a fan of selective grind and it so happens I love exactly this kind of grind, so imagine my drooling when I first heard this. Internal Rot embody the purest traits that quality grind contains – violence and freedom. ‘Mental Hygiene’ will grab you by the collar and throw you straight into a pit of wild boars. You will be shredded into pieces in the frenzy that ‘Mental Hygiene’ creates. Musically, it is infused with punk thrash elements and the guitar tone it carries is jagged edged similar to what Insect Warfare, Wormrot, Infanticide and Death Toll 80k employ; and that is saying “it slays”. So fans who have heard these bands before should know what to expect and be ready to lap it up. Right from the first track ‘Muciferous’, the album is a gateway to unbridled anger and consequently, freedom. The 30 odd minutes get over in a blink of an eye. After absolutely four murderous tracks, the band also manages to get some groove in via the aptly named ‘Sex Everywhere’! It obviously doesn’t make sense to distinguish between songs in a top grindcore album like this, but ‘Internal Rot’ insert some slight shifts in tempo; alternating between blazingly fast and slightly slower mosh ready parts. Albeit for a few seconds, this keeps the attention of the listener and gives some breathing room like midway through ‘Nose in Neck’ and ‘Hodgkinson St.’, in order to get ready for the next round of barrage that inevitably follows. The last and the longest track happens to be titled ‘Riddled with Rage’ and it pretty much sums up the sentiment of the whole album. There is a certain appeal for grind albums like these, whose expressiveness and production attracts fans from other extreme genres." -dipym666 500 copies on smoky grey vinyl. Remastered from the original files. This is a shared release with 625 Productions, a tuxedo among suits. Label: Iron Lung Records/625 Thrashcore
  • First ever fully authorized reissue of GISM's landmark debut 'Detestation' prepared in direct cooperation with the group's mastermind Sakevi. Includes an A3 sized poster and Japanese style OBI strip. Relapse Records is proud to announce the first ever fully-authorized reissue of GISM's landmark debut LP, Detestation. Originally released in 1983, Detestation has since remained one of the most innovative, bewildering, extreme, and wildly influential albums in the punk and metal canon. To say Destestation was ahead of its time would be a huge understatement--it incorporated elements from so many genres: hardcore, punk, heavy metal, glam, thrash, industrial, and experimental. It was almost as if listeners didn’t know what to do with the record’s music but gravitated to it nonetheless as they recognized it was something unique and special. Maximum Rocknroll’s Jay Bentley’s 1984 review of Detestation made that sentiment clear, describing the record as "Churning Metal- punk, or perhaps even speed-metal, depending on where you draw the distinction. GISM are undoubtebly a heavy metal band who've been heavily influenced by hardcore, but the music is so intense and the vocals so ominous that even Im in a state of shock. These guys make VENOM sound like the KNACK, especially on side 1." *This product is designed to be a replica of the original LP released in 1983. Any spelling or design errors are consistent with how the record was originally presented* Label: Relapse Records Barcode: 0781676746613

Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs (or as simply referred to as Psalm 69) is the common title for the fifth studio album by industrial metal band Ministry, released in 1992 on Sire Records. The actual title of the album is ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ, which is made up of κεφαλή (kephal), a Greek word meaning "head", and ΞΘ, the number 69 in Greek numerals. The title Psalm 69 is used for simplicity's sake. The album gave Ministry a more mainstream audience, with the track "Jesus Built My Hotrod" receiving major airplay on MTV and various other music stations. Psalm 69 also marked Ministry's first release with guitarist Mike Scaccia, who was recruited by band frontman and founder Al Jourgensen in 1989. Sealed brand new 180 gram vinyl, issued with a printed inner sleeve with credits. (Sire Records/Rhino Records/2011)

M’lady’s Records is extremely excited to announce the reissue of DEAD MOON’s debut album classic, “In the Graveyard”. Highly sought by rock ‘n’ roll maniacs around the globe for its breathtaking songwriting and attitude, it’s also the first release in M’lady’s 2014 reissue series documenting many different timeless albums issued by Fred & Toody Cole (also of the Rats and Pierced Arrows). This record will NOT let you go once it’s made its way into your mind: every song is a classic, almost intimidating in its poise and strength. For the uninitiated, DEAD MOON come on almost like a hybrid of the most exciting elements of Love, AC/DC, the Weeds, and the Elevators. No joke. The group are also famous for operating extremely DIY, down to the recording and mastering of their albums (famously cut on the very same lathe that cut “Louie Louie” by the Kingsmen!). “In the Graveyard” was reissued on LP by our comrades at the estimable Mississippi Records in 2011, and we’ve teamed up with them to get this compact disc edition out to you, the bedroom rebel, the night time revolutionary, the romantic with a wake of destruction in your path. Also highly recommended for everyone with a beating heart and two ears. (Mississippi Records)
