• Holding Back The Night” represents an unexpected and fresh direction for underground hardcore punk. Butcher remix elements of classic Japanese punk and USHC into an original 21st century blend complete with poignant, timeless lyrics, driving riffs, and amazing artwork courtesy of Tomohiro Matsuda (Lipcream, SOB, etc…). Butcher’s exhilarating vision of hardcore provides a breath of fresh air and quite possibly a new way forward. (Butcher Records)
  • If you are familiar with their debut "Holding Back the Night" LP you have some idea what to expect here. For those who have not heard the band, expect some powerful, genre expanding hardcore punk from a group with members in Florida, Texas, and Japan. The band is fronted by Jack Control, from the same WORLD BURNS TO DEATH and SEVERED HEAD OF STATE with Jon Weisberg from ASSHOLEPARADE, LIFECHAIN, RELIGIOUS AS FUCK, STARVATION and WORLDS providing Drumbeats and on guitars are Adler Moore (AGHAST, LIFECHAIN, HERETIC) and Souichi Hisatake (GUDON, FORWARD). This second record takes the sound they crafted on the first LP and ramps up the power, tempo, and raw punk aggression. Ten tracks of pure fucking raw/thrashing hardcore punk paying homage to POISON IDEA or G.I.S.M.! (La Familia Releases)

  • In 2018, four individuals came together to juxtapose a modern age of hardcore that had become heavy and metallic. Picking up the pace to tempos best suited for running in circles, combined with introspective and thought-proving lyrical content, BYSTANDER was born. 2018 saw the release of their self-titled 7” EP on Safe Inside Records, the addition of a fifth member, and some tours on the West Coast and Midwest of the United States. 2019 is the year that BYSTANDER will release their follow up 12” EP, and is also when the band will embark on their first tour of Europe with a stop at Fluff Fest. Featuring Greg Bennick of Trial and current and former members of Spirits, Test of Time, and Decline, Bystander has their sights set on becoming a positive force of change in the hardcore scene. They hope to leave the breakdowns behind, as they set forth with open minds for the future. (Safe Inside Records)
  • Câmbio Negro, is a seminal Hardcore Punk band from Recife - Brasil, formed in 1983 they were one of the first bands playing that kind of music on the North East of the country and the first on that region to release an album. "Ecos do 3° Mundo" was previously released as a demo tape in 1989, and is considered by many their best stuff, brutal, raw, energetic Hardcore. PunkVortex records has unearthed the original recording, restored, remastered and released it on vinyl. The original artwork has been also revamped! Taking into consideration that the songs were stored on cassete tape for decades and obviously lost a bit of quality, thefinal result is great! I am very proud of rescuing this piece of Brazilian Hardcore Punk and making it available to all. (Punk Vortex Records)
  • This 12" brandishes 9 tracks of absolutely driving hardcore punk rock with the unmistakable bullhorn vocals of Martin Sorrondeguy, steering this careening blur in and out of tightly written musical corners. Featuring members of Sin Orden as well, there is a lot of Chicago punk rock DNA in here manifesting itself as aggression draped in burning, melancholic guitar leads and an unpredictable hazy melodic wash. Like Greg Sage ghost writing a Naked Raygun track while vacationing in Southern California! Recorded by guitarist Scott Plant and mastered by Jonah Falco, each record comes in a UV Gloss jacket adorned with art by Martin. (Beach Impediment)

    THE DEFINITIVE DOOM METAL OPUS FROM THE SWEDISH LEGENDS Candlemass, formed by bassist and songwriter Leif Edling in Stockholm, Sweden in 1984, is well known for its influential Epic Doom Metal sound, which itself evolved out of the masterful Black Sabbath. 'Nightfall' was the second Candlemass studio album and saw its release in 1987. Alongside first album 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus', 'Nightfall' was instrumental in shaping the Doom Metal scene that exists to this day. On 'Nightfall', making his debut with the band was vocalist Jan Alfredo Marcolin, better known as Messiah Marcolin, who became a well-established and highly respected vocalist throughout the Metal world, with his powerful soaring and theatrical tones. Messiah Marcolin became an iconic figure within the band until his departure in the early 1990s. 'Nightfall' is a continuation of the band's debut; with highly effective epic and melodic heavy doom compositions. The album truly helped define the genre and paved the way for Doom Metal's future, with bands such as Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride often hailing Candlemass as being among their primary inspirations. Candlemass was formed by bassist and songwriter Leif Edling in Stockholm, Sweden in 1984, well known for their epic doom metal, they have hugely influenced a generation of the genre's subsequent greats - Candlemass themselves taking a large influence from Black Sabbath. 'Tales of Creation' was Candlemass's fourth album, originally released in 1989. The album was produced by Mats Lindfors and Candlemass and was recorded at Stockholm Recording studios. This release sees Messiah Marcolin (handling vocal duties for the final time on a Candlemass album), alongside composer & long-standing member Leif Edling, create a stunning soundscape of epic atmosphere and melodic passages - a continued progression from these undisputed pioneers of the scene. Candlemass consistently build upon their Sabbath inspired foundations set on the debut album from 1986; this album even containing a reworking of 'Under the Oak' from said album, and the release concludes what many regard as the finest period for the band, spanning four albums of extremely high quality doom. This edition of 'Tales of Creation' is presented on 180gm heavyweight vinyl. (Peaceville Records)
  • Reissue on vinyl of the very first Carcass Demo Tape from 1987. Later to be known as one of the heavy weights of grind and (later) of death metal, here you can enjoy their very first approach with a recording studio. Pulverizing pathologycal grind was born through these grooves. (Fan Club/Unofficial Release)
  • The debut album from the band was released in 1984, and was quickly recognised as the work of agitated and agitating talents. This album was a huge influence on the burgeoning death and thrash scenes at the time. A masterclass of riff tirades and unholy sentiments. This reissue includes rehearsals from 1984 and the concept and art direction of the release was done by the man behind Celtic Frost, Tom G. Warrior. Both the LP and CD versions include new sleeve notes and extensive booklets. Hype sticker over shrink wrap: "The original classic album remastered Includes bonus material & extensive sleeve notes Concept & art direction by Tom Gabriel Warrior". Original album recorded & mixed at Caet studio, Berlin, October 8 - 15, 1984 Bonus tracks recorded live on cassette during Morbid Tales album rehearsals at the Grave Hill Bunker, Birchwil, Switzerland, in summer and autumn of 1984 All tracks remastered at Woodshed Studio, Landshut, Germany, March 2016 (Noise/BMG/2019)
  • Released in 1985, the band’s second album had an ominous pall of doom and gloom, enmeshed in a sound both primitive yet also Wagnerian in its vast scope. Many claim this was a massive inspiration for black metal bands later in the decade. In truth, though, none matched what was here. This release includes the Emperor’s Return EP as well as a remix of Visual Aggression, and the concept and art direction of the release was done by the man behind Celtic Frost, Tom G. Warrior. CD - The CD is packaged in a casebound book. Hype sticker over shrink wrap: "The original classic album remastered Includes bonus material & extensive sleeve notes Concept & art direction by Tom Gabriel Warrior". (Noise/BMG/2019)
  • The 2009 debut album from the chain gang led by Ian Svenonius (Nation of Ulysses, The Make-Up, Weird War) is a masterpiece of primitivism. From dazzling set pieces of R&B and rock'n'roll, the band forms highly melodic songs full of call-and-response chants ("What Is A Dollar"), or invites you to take a walk through the cemetery ("Cemetry Map"), which sounds so spooky as if voodoo master Dr. John had thought it up. Sometimes Svenonius just grabs a wooden guitar to make fun of conspiracy theories like in "Deathbed Confessions": "I faked the moon landing, I saved Hitler's brain. Yeah, it's in Argentina but it controls the USA." Calvin Johnson produced the album at his Dub Narcotic studio and also did a bit of background vocals. The beat lurches and sways as confidently and surely as an old sea dog's gait in a breeze of doppelkorn. The somewhat odd album title is explained by the always conceptually thinking singer as follows: "Everywhere freedom goes, it leaves a path of destruction. Fast food, bad architecture, materialism, unbridled greed, destroyed environment, imperial conquests, class struggle; combined, these phenomena are seemingly synonymous with freedom." When big words often hide only capitalist greed and imperialist war, Svenonius & Co. prefer to slip into the role of dissidents. "Ian Svenonius is an inadvertent pioneer. His career has been a studied attempt to advance the history of punk rock, using influences as tools to build with rather than styles to flaunt and discard." - The Wire (Sounds Of Subterrania}
  • The third album of Chain & The Gang, released in 2012, has an attractive wild card: Katie Alice Greer – the charismatic singer of the Priests takes over the second voice in all songs. And no matter whether she just blurts out a pointed "Yeah!" or takes over the song completely, as in "Free Will" – her presence is palpable in the room. "In Cool Blood" has become a kind of Bonnie & Clyde, or Nancy & Lee album: adventurous, sexy and quite convinced of itself. The balance between the two different voices is perfectly balanced, the songs are casual but to the point. It's less about fighting capitalism this time and more about living out personal freedom. "Heavy Breathing" celebrates the joys of late-night phone sex; "Free Will" Greer sings with snotty self-confidence, as if she had just given an encroaching guy a painful kick in the soft parts: "I don't believe in free will. I just do what I feel, that is the deal, I don't believe in free will". Connoisseurs will surely hear echoes of the Delmonas or Holly Golightly. It's hard not to like this mixture of lurking garage rock and ironic poses and confessions. Chain & The Gang have created their own world with this, a fiercely bubbling petri dish of songs and stories that brings together the past and future of rock'n'roll. "Not for the weak of heart or the slow of brain, "In Cool Blood" is for the hot of blood, the quick of temper, and the hard of sleeping. Recorded in a spontaneous, ad lib session of dream led automatic writing/rocking, "In Cool Blood" was made at a Surrealist stomp session in the bowls of Olympia." - CHAIN & THE GANG manager Johnny Sincere (Sounds Of Subterrania}
  • “Once the sadness of their 2020 canceled American tour was gone, Chain Cult went back to the practice space to write new songs, it was a perfect way to keep finding meaning in a world at a standstill. They are back stronger than ever with two new raging post-punk anthems, they’re bringing exactly what we need in these troubled times. These two songs give us elements for reflection on our lives, a good occasion to think about what we miss and what we want for the future. « We’re not Alone » and « Always a mess » show the band at its best. The very powerful rhythm section allows the guitarist to play the most beautiful and dark melodies and the singer to chant the catchy choruses that Chain Cult is known for. During uncertain times, it is good to be surrounded by people you trust to continue moving forward ; in this spirit Chain Cult has kept the same recipe as for their previous records. No one can say what the future holds and we can’t act like this is normal but always shall we remember that we’re not alone in this world” (Nico Destructure) (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)
  • It’s time to grow towards the sun again. It’s time for Change. Closer Still is the debut LP from Change, the Pacific Northwest Straight Edge band made up of Aram Arslanian, Chris Williams, Jeff Caffey, Mike Jurek and Matt Bertell. The record is 13 songs of urgent hardcore influenced by Youth of Today, Uniform Choice, INSTED, Sportswear, Turning Point and Embrace. However, the song writing pulls inspiration from across genres keeping the record from painting itself in a corner musically. Lyrically, Closer Still was written over a year and at its core is about coping with loss, anxiety and depression and trying to make the changes needed to find a better path. The songs focus on growth, both personal and social, and encourage embracing who we are while also working on becoming the best version of ourselves. Written and recorded by Aram Arslanian, Dave Mitchell, Carl McBeath and Alex Schollen, the LP was tracked and mixed by Jesse Gander at Rain City Records, with lead vocals recorded Avrinder Dhillon at Ziyen Studios and mastering by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. The record features art by Eric Himle and the packaging was designed by Evan Wivell with help from Jon A Gaasland. Closer Still will be released on LP through REACT! Records in North America and by Refuse Records in Europe, and on cassette by Life.Liar.Regret Records in Australia. (Refuse Records/2020)
  • Channel 3, aka CH3, was formed in 1980 in suburban Cerritos, about 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles, with frontman Mike Magrann, guitarist Kimm Gardener, bassist Larry Kelly and drummer Mike Burton. Signing to Posh Boy in 1981, their eponymous EP had the hit ‘Manzanar,’ which was championed by John Peel on the BBC. Posh Boy founder Robbie Fields was in the producer’s chair for their excellent debut, Fear of Life, a blistering punk assault on American values. Free from the heavy metal leanings of their later work, this no-holds-barred debut is a must for all fans of So-Cal hardcore. • Over the past 35+ years, Bristol’s Chaos UK have helped to pioneer so many different styles that it’s difficult to keep track. Getting a handle on the embarrassment of riches that is their discography is difficult enough; mapping the influence they’ve had on worldwide punk and hardcore would be a herculean task, though one would be remiss not to mention how central their sound is to the development of Kyushu-style noise-punk and Burning Spirits hardcore in Japan. Now they’re back with a brand new 4-song EP, and it’s as loud, political, and uncompromising as anything they’ve done before. You can hear strains of their old stuff throughout these tracks: the catchy choruses of their earliest Riot City-era singles; the noise and the manic pogo beats of their Short, Sharp, Shock period; the metallic crunch of their 90s material. While it’s tempting to call this new EP a distillation of everything that’s come before, in reality it’s simply a band who has remained consistently innovative and exciting for nearly four decades doing what they do best. (549 Records)
  • Originally released on the small "Children Of The Revolution" label back in 1984, Short Sharp Shock is Chaos UK's own masterpiece, and their first 12" recorded with the classic Mower/Chuck/Gabba/Chaos line up. Up there along with Discharge's Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing and Disorder's 1984 Under the Scalpel Blade, straight out of the holy trinity of British 80's punk: angry, pissed and out of tune like it always should have sounded. (Radiation Records)
  • A classic album from 1997 for the first time on vinyl. The songs recorded in 1996 capture the band in full force, the singer Chaos contributed the most to the author, hits like No mess panic, Vegetable soup or Another punk rock day are rightly among the best pieces of this band. And of course my favorite Little bastard must not be missed. 300 pieces on black vinyl. (Emergency Records)
  • Repress of the 2019 reissue. The two tracks originally appeared on a split 12" record with THE SICK on Off Course Records, Switzerland in 1979. The first print run was gone in record time. Here are 500 more copies, matte sleeve with spine, black inner sleeve, insert with liner notes and photos, additional mini concert poster with another small band history written in German, by Lurker Grand. (Bachelor Records)
  • Chaotic Dischord was formed by roadies of Vice Squad who wanted to take on the sound of bands like Disorder and Chaos UK but ended up creating this record which stands next to those bands in terms of quality and urgency. This is the offical reissue of their debut LP which came out on Riot City Records in 1983 plus the tracks of the “Don’t throw it all away” 12″ from 1984. Classic stuff. (Radiation Records)

    Speed Kills is the debut full length from London's loudest breakout band Chubby and the Gang. Beginning as a humble pipe dream of West London electrician Charlie Manning, who spent years finding his way through the London punk and hardcore scene, the album is the manifestation of a musical mind marinating in hard punk, pub rock, blues, and doo-wop. From the sneering eternity of "All Along the Uxbridge Road," to the Hammond Organ smeared "Bruce Grove Bullies" -- the songs will have you reaching for your London A to Z and trying your hardest not to spill your pint. Finding a new home on Partisan Records, Speed Kills has been remastered at West London’s Metropolis Studios and features a previously unreleased track “Union Dues”.
