Cleveland power-pop punk trio Beatnik Termites was another group of Ramones fanatics that merged a heavy Ramones influence with a love of surf rock; their caustic pop melodies and ironic, stinging lyrics turning the soft underbelly of pop music on its head, yielding a sound that had tinges of innocence, beneath a knowing, thrash-rock wink. Front man Pat Kim (AKA Pat Termite) started the band back in 1987 with drummer Reggie Silvestri and bassist Brian McCafferty, the group was reputedly a favourite of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain according to his diaries. This is a limited reissue of their hyper rare debut 6 tracks 12", whose original copies are impossibile to find for decent prices online. All Ramones maniacs now can fill that hole in their collection thanks to the Hey Suburbia label. LIMITED EDITION OF 300 COPIES, FULLY REMASTERED SOUND, COLOR VINYL. (Hey Suburbia Records)

Recorded at inner ear studios, arlington, virginia between april 1981 and december 1983. the washington, d.c. straightedge hardcore punk scene began with minor threat. the band recorded two lps on its own dischord label, plus an ep and the miscellaneous singles that are collected on this cd. many of the early recordings on this collection seethe with teen-age angst and indignation. the songs rage against bullies, religious hypocrisy, and the herd mentality. other songs, taken from later in minor threat's career, feature tighter and more sophisticated playing. metallic flourishes tinge the guitar work, vocal harmonies abound, and song dynamics vary more than on the earlier record. on certain songs, ian mackaye's lyrics address the complexities of friendship, loyalty, and self-expression. 'look back and laugh,' 'little friend,' and 'it follows' all incline more toward introspection and ambiguity; conveying loss and sadness in addition to outrage. this second set of songs seems to especially anticipate mackaye's later work with fugazi. the album also contains a few playful numbers like the sing-along cover of 'stepping stone,' and 'cashing in,' a mocking dig at greedy musicians. minor threat believed completely in the power of its music, helping earn a loyal fan following and the respect of numerous other bands who emulated its style and credo. • The return of the classic Demonstration Tapes double LP on vinyl from the one and only Dolly Mixture. Originally self released in 1984 – this 27 track set collects the band’s demos from 1979 to 1983 of perfectly executed pop, indie pop and ’60s girl group gems. The sound is raw but the charm and pure-pop songcraft manages to shine through. Dolly Mixture should have been massive – so just sit back and enjoy these charming songs that have aged like a fine wine. Original copies sell for silly money and even the Germs of Youth reissue sells for over £100. This reissue comes with a brand new sleeve design. (Spa Green Records)

19 track round up of demos from The Partisans who formed in Bridgend, South Wales in 1978 and ended up being one of the cream of the UK82 punk movement. The first side of the LP has 10 tracks recorded in April 1980 in one day and like bands in their early years - it features mainly covers. It includes songs from the Sex Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs, Buzzcocks, UK Subs, Cockney Rejects and yes even more UK Subs. It also has primitive and raw versions of future Partisans classics No Time and I Don’t Give a Fuck. This demo has never been heard or released in any form. Less than a year later, February 1981 with Savage leaving and Louise joining on bass, the band have their most well know line up and are in full flow with a 6 track demo that was sent to No Future Records. It’s not surprising the label snapped them up straight away as the recordings are high energy and full of anthemic gems. The label released Police Story and Killing Machine as the debut 7” direct from these recordings. The other four tracks from this demo have never been released on vinyl. The last three tracks on the LP are the demos from 1982 recorded for No Future for the 17 Years of Hell Single. Rawer and more punk than the actual well know versions. All members of the bands helped in this release and shared original masters from which everything was remastered plus archive from their own personal collections including photos galore, handouts, ticket stubs, interviews etc which are included in the 28 Page Booklet. MARTHE is the solo project of Marzia, worldwide known for being Horror Vacui's guitar player and for drumming in Kontatto, Tuono, Campus Sterminii, Death From Above, Doxie and countless other bands. Between one practice and another with the aforementioned bands, she found the time to sit down by herself and record the tunes that became the "Sisters Of Darkness" demo tape, self-released a year ago and then repressed on tape by Caligari Records (USA). I'm personally not too much into metal, but the four songs on this demo blew my minds and I think they deserve to be released on vinyl too. Fans of Bathory's second wave will love this one so much that Marzia will be crowned as the Queen of Valkyrian Metal. Everything on this record has been written, performed and mixed by Marzia. Mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door . Limited to 300 hand numbered copies on Ivory White Colored Vinyl, the first 100 will come with a nice embroidered patch. (Agipunk Records)

Five years after their seminal “Fake Meets Failure” LP, Red Dons return with their junior album “The Dead Hand of Tradition,” set to be released August 10th on Taken By Surprise Records in Europe and later this summer by Deranged Records in North America. A lot has happened in those five years. Two of the band’s core members Douglas Burns and Hajji Husayn left their hometown Portland, Oregon behind, for Chicago and London. They recorded and released a slew of singles on labels like Grave Mistake and Dirtnap (including a collaboration with TV Smith of UK punk legends The Adverts). Despite the distance between them, they’ve managed to tour regularly in North America and Europe. In January this year they reconvened in Portland to record “The Dead Hand of Tradition” at Buzz Or Howl Studios, the same establishment where they recorded the album’s predecessor. “The Dead Hand of Tradition” features ten new tracks of their signature dark, driving, melodic punk rock sound. The formula of their distinctive songwriting hasn’t changed, but has matured as a result of having five more nomadic years under their belts. These new experiences have only added to the themes of alienation, emigration, and loss present in their music. (Taken By Surprise Records)

Straight from the depths of an unused Boston-area concrete laboratory comes the debut of Sweeping Promises. Written and recorded with a patented ""single mic technique"" just before quarantine, ""Hunger for a Way Out"", is a post-punk leaning gem of unpolished DIY sound. The title track kicks things off in absolutely classic fashion, full of spirited hooks that echo the early Rough Trade sound. Angular guitars and sharp synth notes float atop a raw rhythm section, while Lira Mondal's effervescent vocals truly define Sweeping Promises' sound. There's something simple yet otherworldly about these tracks - you have the DIY prowess of Kleenex/LiLiPUT and Girls at Our Best!, a brooding new wave-y minimal synth sound woven in, and an undeniable pop-leaning appeal captured in vibrant monaural glory. It's hard to mistake these ten tracks of naturally urgent and driving post-punk for anything other than sheer brilliance. Sweeping Promises deliver in spades on ""Hunger for a Way Out"". Since forming in Manitoba in 1986, Propagandhi have brought an emphatic anti-fascist message to their music. Along with addressing a number of personal losses suffered in recent years, Victory Lap, the band's first full-length since 2012's Failed States, finds the band facing a landscape in which fascism is—among a certain crowd—suddenly trendy. Victory Lap also marks Propagandhi’s first album with new guitarist Sulynn Hago, who joins Samolesky, frontman Chris Hannah, and bassist Todd Kowalski. Replacing longtime guitarist David Guillas (who appears on several tracks on Victory Lap), Hago was added to the lineup after Propagandhi put out a call for audition tapes and received over 400 responses. “All Of Them Naturals” is a fully realized, inclusive world of faux-corporation sponsored surrealist new wave punk music rife with satire and discordance. Robotically tight. Delightfully warped. Ideas as vast as Nebraska’s GMO cornfields and as lethal as the pesticides they spray on them. Did the Sunbelt Chemicals You're being urgently, naughtily rushed up the tallest, steepest stairs you've ever climbed. Smile cautiously as the Uranium Club welcomes you into their stinky apartment. You've been here before, right? Oh, that must have been some one else. Do you have a brother or sister? One of the members mumbles some deceptively eloquent bullshit as he hands you a drink. His lips are dark red and chapped; he looks really bad. But the drink is wet, and those stairs had been tall. Sit down, lean back, sip it. There's salt in it, some pulp, some pebbles. It rolls around your tongue, hides between your teeth, a perfectly TV-worthy combination of pleasure and mischief. Swallow it. But spit it out... Spit it out now! It's supposed to go into your ears! How crazy is that? Such a sensation of taste, transmogrified for the realm of sound? Is it Sprite, or is it... music? Careful, engaging, and dare-I-say theatrical vocals over hyper bass-and-drums while other boingy-boingy instruments puke all over it, all over the whole show. That's called synesthesia. Gentle lectures, dangerous storytime, eerie fast-and-slow nightmare riffs, and a taut, bound-and-gagged rhythm section. Boingily-boingily, that's phantasmagoria. That's the Uranium Club's latest album, "The Cosmo Cleaners." So swish around some mouthwash and plug in your AirPods, kid, it's time to drop that needle! (Static Shock Records)

  • The Cravats’ one, great musical handicap was that they were indescribable. Incisive, innovative musicianship was everywhere, yet the songs themselves defied comparison to anyone else’s. The lyrics, meanwhile, were uncommon, vivid, and forcefully-delivered, so reviewers (both friendly and hostile) focused on those. But the part that burrowed straight for the wee chunk of your brain marked “fight or flight” on the meat-cutters’ chart was the unsettling throb and lurch of the massively-amplified sax, guitars, bass, drums, and whatever other alien sound-forms and distortions The Cravats felt like heaving into the mix. Their devoted record-company, Small Wonder, had no idea how to present them, either, but they kept on releasing Cravats records long after they’d bid adieu to the rest of their visionary catalog (among them The Cure, Patrik Fitzgerald, Crass, Poison Girls, Menace, Bauhaus, and Fatal Microbes). Peel played and played them, recording four Cravats Peel sessions 1979-82. The Cravats formed after a Stranglers show in Birmingham in 1977: they borrowed £400 from Shend’s mum and self-released their debut 7” Gordon in July 1978. Small Wonder liked the single so much that they picked up 500 copies and booked the band into the studio with producer Bob Sargeant; the result was the Burning Bridges single, soon followed by Precinct. Next, the band relocated to Torquay for a full week in 1980 to record their first album – on an 8-track in a hotel basement: The Cravats In Toytown made it into the Top 20 in the independent charts. Two more Small Wonder 45s followed, You’re Driving Me and Off The Beach, sandwiched around their first project with Penny Rimbaud (who succeeded in making them even darker with ‘Rub Me Out’). Despite their collectability, the Small Wonder records remained un-reissued until Penny Rimbaud obtained the recently discovered multi-track Toytown masters and re-interpreted and remixed them in his own unique, eccentric style, as Alice’s Adventures In Toytown. A limited-edition vinyl pressing reproduces the original album, the 12” x 12” 4-page insert, but with the bonus of an inner bag. (Overground Records)

Unholy Passion is the second release by Samhain, Glenn Danzig's band after the disbanding of the Misfits. In 1987 Danzig re-recorded the guitar and some vocal tracks for the songs, removing the original work done by Pete "Damien" Marshall. The recordings were given new mixes and, with the addition of "Misery Tomb", were released as part of Final Descent in 1990. The remixed versions were released as a standalone CD for the first time as part of the Samhain Box Set in 1999 and as an individual CD in 2000. The original 12" vinyl EP was pressed twice: once on black vinyl and the classic tan cover, and then again in 1986, on both red and black vinyl (with a maroon sleeve), and white vinyl (with tan cover). According to Eerie Von in his photographic book Misery Obscura the album was “a departure from our first release: more underground, more tribal. A step back further into the darkness”. UK 10-track pressing. Dedicated to Ricky Nelson, a DATE WITH ELVIS (1986) is the third Cramps studio album, recorded five years after their last, 1981’s PSYCHEDELIC JUNGLE (in the interim, the band recorded a number of EPs and a pair of live albums, and extracted themselves from a legal dispute with their old record label). Playing as a three-piece, with the extremely talented Poison Ivy on guitar and bass (as well as singing on a couple of tracks!), the band turned their most solid studio record. From the brilliant usage of a preschool choir singing the chorus of “People Ain’t No Good” to a crunching cover of “Get Off the Road”, the theme song of the 1968 biker exploitation flick, SHE DEVILS ON WHEELS, the record includes a bunch of ought-a-be classics. Standouts include the faux-hippie duet of “Kizmiaz”, one of the band’s several peaks of hyperactive, juvenile sexual obsession; “Hot Pool of Womanneed”, featuring lyrics like “As Jacob said to Isaiah / in them biblin’ days of yore / Man that babe is the tomata / Oh my Lord I’m longin’ for”; and Lux Interior’s nearly perfect impression of the King on “It’s Just That Song”. • Through 1980 the Damned spent some 1078 hours in the studio recording / mixing and this 25th anniversary edition of THE BLACK ALBUM contains all of the released material during that year plus one previously unissued mix. The Black Album was the band’s rural album and their most psychedelic. Initially there were sessions in February and March at Wessex where MGE had been cut. Captain had come up with Rabid (Over You) as a contender for the next single and though a cracking good song and certainly commercial enough, the title was a non starter as far as mainstream radio play was concerned at the time. As Smash It Up had been regarded as an incitement to riot by Radio Wonderful lord knows what they would have made of Rabid. So a cover version was picked in the shape of the Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit and this was cut at the Wessex sessions along with Rabid (Over You). Anthony More was initially in charge of the Rabid session and brought along his synth box of tricks. However he didn’t quite manage to make it to the end of the session, though eventually contributed a lot to the record’s sound. Meanwhile I was cutting Rabbit and Rat was working on a very out there version of the 50s classic Chantilly Lace that was to come out under the moniker Edgar Tempest and the Wild Rockers. All three of these sides were finished and a single was scheduled with White Rabbit backed with’ Rabid (Over You) and the elegiac into mayhem guitar piece from the Captain called Seagulls. It got as far as test pressing stage at EMI and then the band went off it, though it did see the light of day in France and Germany, making its way into the U.K. on import. Chantilly Lace didn’t make it to the starting block. So, single-less, time was booked at Rockfield for May /June to record the bulk of the Black Album. Early takes of History of the World Part 1 and Curtain Call had been cut at Wessex and even a basic acoustic track for Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde. (Ace – WIK2 334/2016)

Luna - Nestvarne Stvari LP is officially reissued for the first time ever after 36 years! What we have here is a cult Yugoslavian post punk album made by short-lived Luna, a band from Novi Sad that included members of Pekinška Patka. Mandatory! "During the late 1981, former Pekinška Patka members Zoran Bulatović "Bale" (guitar) and Marinko Vukomanović "Mare" (bass guitar) with former La Strada members Slobodan Tišma (vocals) and Ivan Fece "Firchie" (drums) joined together and formed LUNA. Since the band members were already well-known, the formation of the band caused great interest in the public. The band started writing new material, with Bulatović being responsible for the music writing, while Tišma was the band's lyricist. A few days before the band's first public appearance, Vukomanović had left the band, forming his own pop group Primavera, and was replaced by Jasmina Mitrušić "Mina" (keyboards, vocals). The first appearance the band made in March 1982, in Vienna Arena on the "Novosadski novi talas festival". After the festival, Luna started performing at numerous Novi Sad and Belgrade venues, establishing itself a cult status. In Radio Novi Sad studios, the band recorded their first demo, with "Ogledalo Lune" being the most notable track, becoming a local hit. Soon after, the band went on a Croatian and Slovenian tour during which, after the Kopar concert, the band met Marko Brecelj, a former Buldožer member, who took their demo recordings to his former band-mate Boris Bele, one of the head of the Helidon record label. Having returned from the tour, the band entered the Aquarius Studio in Belgrade, where, with the help of sound engineer Đorđe Petrović and producer Saša Habić recorded their debut album. However, by the time their first and only studio album, "Nestvarne stvari", had been released, on early 1984 by Helidon, due to a conflict between Bulatović and Tišma, the band had already disbanded. After the album release, the Rock magazine voted the album the seventh best album of the year 1984, and the band also got the award "Sedam Sektetara SKOJ-a" in Zagreb. Tišma and Mitrušić reformed La Strada, Bulatović went to serve the Yugoslav People's Army and Fece joined Ekatarina Velika and later moved to the United States. Together with Bulatović, former Električni Orgazam keyboard player Ljubomir Đukić and Igra Staklenih Perli bassist Draško Nikodijević "Dracula" he formed a supergroup "Collateral Damage", but the band did not release any material. Meanwhile, Fece was also the member of Jakarta, which disbanded in 1986. Mitrušić finished the Musical Academy studies and moved to Italy. After La Strada disbanded, Tišma quit his musical career and released two poetry books." (Šareni Dućan Records /Blind Dog Records Records)

Their lifespan would be short but not the impact or influence this Swedish band would have on the entire extreme music scene. Sure they were youngsters at the time, but this band would help to cultivate the sound that birthed and initially propelled the now-and-forever signature European death metal sound - one that is still viable and as exciting today.

"Right-wing governments. Riots following sickening, racist police brutality. The general feeling that these are end times and the human race we know it is hurtling towards a doom of its own foolish making. Yessir, you can draw a lot of parallels between 2020 and the 1980s, although obviously as soon as anyone says it’s worth suffering all this because ‘the tunes will be better’, you are obliged to call them a fucking moron, set their hair on fire and give them a wedgie for good measure. Still, just as good tunes are undoubtedly a good thing, so too are absolutely blazing, ear-shredding, soul-soaring, fist-raising punk rock songs. Especially ones that race by at 150mph, while implicitly daring you to scream along with every line and probably dismantle all your furniture by bouncing all over it. Just ask Chain Whip; they know all about it. Hailing from the Canadian city of Vancouver and comprising members of Fashionism, Corner Boys and more, Chain Whip don’t so much sound ‘in thrall’ to the sounds of 1980s hardcore punk as ‘completely inhabited by the spirit’ of it, in the best way possible. They snarl, they holler, they roar and by gosh every single cut on debut album ‘14 Lashes’ is a thrill ride and a half. Originally released in 2019 on their own Chain Whip Records (makes sense), it gathers together 14 (also makes sense) blasts of irresistible fury in under 20 minutes, with subjects ranging from half-baked cultural commentators to not wanting to live in a fucked-up world (say it three times: this makes sense). This is hardcore as in ‘the snottiest rock’n’roll imaginable’; no shitty metal involved. They’re at their best when exploding in under 60 seconds, like on the very cross ‘Spectator’, but two-minute epic ‘Turner Street Ghost Motel’ reveals something dangerously close to Dead Kennedys-style melody that could make Chain Whip ones to stick with for the long haul. Well, that’s assuming they’re even in it for the long haul; maybe this is the last we’ll see of ‘em and this blizzard of brilliance that sounds like DOA, the Germs and Career Suicide punching holes in the side of a mountain is all we’ll have to remember ‘em by. If that’s how this is all gonna play out, I implore you to buy this record -. you owe it to yourself to hear it before we and they meet our grisly fate." (Drunken Sailor Records)

  • The Process of Belief finds Bad Religion returning to their roots in two important aspects. First, original guitarist Brett Gurewitz has rejoined the ranks, bringing with him the taut songwriting skills that made Bad Religion hardcore pioneers in the mid-1980s. Secondly, the band has returned to Gurewitz's successful indie imprint Epitaph after years on a major. The result is an album that captures the clean joy and vigor of melodic hardcore without sacrificing its moral core. Songs like "Supersonic" and "Prove It" are fast, catchy, and irresistible examples of the kind of prime ADD punk that's over before you know it. But the likes of "Materialist" and "Kyoto Now" find Bad Religion at their best. Greg Graffin sings at one point that "you might not think that there's any wisdom in a f***ed up punk rock song," but his rants against global pollution, ambition, and family politics prove otherwise. There are a few surprises as well--"Broken" is almost an acoustic chart anthem while "Bored and Extremely Dangerous" could be a Sebadoh song. In all, The Process of Belief is confirmation that you don't need big shorts and a low IQ to make a prime-grade punk rock album Label: Epitaph Records Barcode: 8714092663556

  • Hardcore punk band formed in Victoria, B.C./ Canada in 1980. Dayglo's "Feed Us A Fetus" is their second full-length album, originally released in 1986. This is hands-down, the best Canadian punk record to emerge from the 80's!! Aside from collecting most of the songs from their first 12? record entitled "Out Of The Womb" (1981), it also contains many brand new songs (at the time) that were even better than those on the first album. Many of their classic punk anthems are captured on this vinyl and Unrest Records is the sixth label to release the album over the years, which is a testament to what a classic it really is. There should be one of these in every punk rocker's record collection. Don't miss out!! Splatter Vinyl ltd to 200. Label: Unrest Records
  • If you went down the wrong alleyway, took a shortcut through the park or crossed the wrong open space after dark in the UK in the 1970s, you stood a fair chance of being accosted by someone with a big mouth, low morals and some gurning mates to impress, usually reeking of fags and cheap booze and always ready to put the boot in. And, before you could say, “sickening violence”, a short but chaotic scuffle would ensue and a winner eventually emerge, battle scarred and bruised. The boot boy was the worst kind of hooligan. There wasn’t anything you could do or say to appease him. You had the same chance as a fly caught up in a spider’s web. Zero. Your best bet was to run. His intent was always to give you, and vicariously the rest of the world, a good kicking. Thugs, long-haired louts, short-haired louts; the anti-hippy. Birds, booze, bovver and football on their criminal minds. So fasten your braces for a white knuckle-duster ride. 14 bovver rock bruisers for all of you peace-loving losers. Somebody’s going to get their head kicked in tonight... Put the boot in.

All genres peak early, followed by uninspiring copy-cats. As for hardcore, the golden years were 1980 – 1985. Execute hailed from Tokyo Japan and made according to eye witness notorious shows. Execute formed already back in 1982 and the most known member is the guitarist Lemmy, who is also to some extent responsible for the bands later transformation into a more Goth-sound. Execute "Blunt Sleazy" 12" is one of the best Japanese bands ever without a doubt. Includes a small double sided info sheet & sticker.  Limited to 200 copies. Import from Mexico. Ask any avowed thrash-metal fan, and they’ll tell you the same thing that we’re about to tell you: Sepultura’s major-label debut, BENEATH THE REMAINS, is a true classic of the genre and one of the best albums ever released by the Brazilian band. Black & White 'Quad' (ie. quartered) vinyl reissue of the classic debut studio album by Broken Bones, the ex-Discharge speed-metal punk band, who influenced Metallica and an army of other hard-core punk bands. Broken Bones were formed in 1983 by the Discharge twin brothers of Bones (guitar) and Tezz (bass) and were joined by Baz (drums) and Nobby (vocals). From the 'Potteries' area, Stoke-On-Trent, they first produced two singles, Decapitated and Crucifix, followed by this album 'Dem Bones' – all fast and furious anthems and UK indie chart Top 10 entries. The album, originally released in 1984, was produced by Clay Records' Mike Stone who had also produced Discharge. Along the way, band membership developed, but always featuring the distinctive guitar of Bones. Tezz later went to the USA, where he played with UK Subs, Ministry, and many others. Both brothers are currently in a reformed Discharge. Label: Fall Out Records Barcode: 5013145302811

The second LP by Belarussian trio Molchat Doma, Этажи (pronounced Etazhi, meaning “Floors”), was first released in 2018 on Berlin-based Detriti Records. It became a viral hit, garnering over one million views on YouTube and becoming a legitimate phenomenon on Bandcamp. The band may fly under the radar in their native Belarus, but they’ve reached huge audiences across Europe and beyond. Six separate vinyl pressings of the album have sold out in quick succession, and Sacred Bones Records is now thrilled to bring the record back in print for good. Molchat Doma (translated as “Houses Are Silent”), founded in 2017 in Minsk, Belarus, stands at the intersection of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop. Dark yet danceable, and with a heavy dose of goth ethos, their music is reminiscent of the masters that predate them, but make no mistake: Molchat Doma creates a sound and meaning that is immediately recognizable as all their own. The band is comprised of Egor Shkutko, who sings the Russian lyrics in his deep monotone, Roman Komogortsev on guitar, synths, and drum machine, and Pavel Kozlov on bass and synths. • Originally released a mere eight months after their groundbreaking 1978 self-titled debut LP (RAD 8002LP), The Kids' second album is a pure masterpiece of straightforward punk rock. A little less raw than their previous material, but still far from the new wave sounds the band started experimenting with on their following records, Naughty Kids remains one of the best examples of non-UK '70s punk and definitely a mandatory addition to the collection of any Killed by Death fanatic! This reissue also includes five bonus tracks recorded live in 1978 (RED VINYL LIMITED TO 150) (Radiation Records) https://thekids.bandcamp.com/album/the-kids
  • Legendary L.A. hardcore punk band the Circle Jerks change their approach a bit on their major-label debut, Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosities. The album contains 12 songs that lean more toward a punk-inspired hard rock approach than their earlier hardcore sound. The tracks on this effort are also longer than many of their earlier recordings. Compared to their early classic “In Your Eyes,” which runs all of 46 seconds, “Sinking Ship,” at three minutes and 48 seconds, is practically an epic. This may be a change of pace, but it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This set still displays plenty of the trademarks that make the Circle Jerks so endearing, including Keith Morris’ distinct howling vocal style, Greg Hetson’s great guitar work, and their unmistakable sense of humor. Nowhere on this album, or possibly in the band’s entire career, has their sense of humor been so prominently on display than on their cover of the Soft Boys’ “I Wanna Destroy You,” which features guest vocals by none other than former teen queen Debbie Gibson. This collaboration is not only brilliant but could only be pulled off by the Circle Jerks. “22,” “Teenage Electric,” and “Fable” are straightforward rockers that set the tone for rest of the album. Although the mainstream sound and more polished production may alienate a few early fans who are looking for something more hardcore, this is an excellent hard rock album with few weak spots along the way. Here is finally the repressing of one of the best street punk albums of the 90s. Originally released in 1995, the Oxymoron impressed the punk scene with this 1st album. Almost carrying a new style, they bring the style of the 80s up to date by taking the best of punk sound and the best of oï sound against a background of unity that had long since disappeared. "Fuck the 90?s" made Oxymoron one of the pioneers of street punk. And it's not for nothing that the label's name is Dirty Punk Records! A raw and aggressive sound, punk texts, doc Marteens, mohicans and especially hits throughout the album. A pure wonder! (Dirty Punk Records)

DISFEAR | soul scars | LP

    18.50 incl. tax
25 year anniversary edition! Originally released in 1995 via Distortion Records, now re-released via La Familia Releases! Forming around 1989, Disfear took elements from both crust and death metal scenes to effectively reinvent the Swedish sound. It is from Disfear's influence that we have seen the likes of Martyrdod, Warcollapse, Wolfpack (now Wolfbrigade), and countless others. Disfear simply took the things that made the Swedish death metal scene so effective such as ferocious/anxious vocals and pummeling drums and put them into the arena of d-beat punk. The result added new dimensions to the genre's sound. Arriving on the scene in Sweden, the band would tour with much of Sweden's metal royalty such as Entombed and Dismember. This happened in part because the band did not have many sonic contemporaries in Sweden at the time. Another innovation made by Disfear was the shift from political commentary on war to the fatalistic and psychological impacts war makes. Again, the band's lyrics also showed influence from the realm of death metal. Gone were the cries for peace and protest against government warmongers and replaced by the resignation that the war was lost. The band's debut LP "Soul Scars" spells this out perfectly. Themes of psychological trauma and irrevocably broken lives from war replaced the politically charged battle cries that Discharge once made. Label: La Familia Releases

Like a steel girder to the forehead, incomes SCREAMS FROM THE CAGE. 19 minutes of brutally up front and relentlessly rowdy hardcore punk, that slams a firm British stamp on the classic Swedish Hardcore blueprint. This wrecking ball sits somewhere between the 80’s Hudiksvall sounds of MISSBRUKARNA, the damaged NO FUTURE confessions of THE PARTISANS and the sheer rock and roll audacity of the SKITKIDS. Back to back riffs that’ll stick to your brain like the glue at the bottom of your bag and steaming drums blasts that’ll plough through your skull like a juggernaut driven by a maniac high on amphetamine. Mylo Oxlo provides the artwork once again, perfectly capturing the claustrophobic animosity of the Rat’s latest 12 song romp and rampage. Fittingly dropping on the year of the Rat while the Tory’s take a strangle hold of the U.K for another 4 years. Hold onto your seat, feel the burn and don’t you dare turn this fucker down. • Deep Wound was the first band from J Mascis and Lou Barlow (later Dinosaur Jr.) in the early 80s. But if you now expect guitar rock and grunge, you are completely wrong, because the band played incredibly fast, complex hardcore for the time, which easily reached the level of the other Boston bands (Jerry's Kids, Negative FX, SSD, ...). The only 7'' with 9 tracks has been booted several times and is rightly considered an absolute classic. In addition to the tracks of the above 7'' there are also the two songs from compilation  "Bands That Could Be God" and the 13 songs from the first demo. If you like original Boston Hardcore and do not already have the songs in another form, it would be a good idea to access them here. Tracks A1 to A9 were originally released as "Deep Wound" 7" on Radiobeat Records in 1983. Tracks A10 and A11 were originally released on the compilation "Bands That Could Be God" on Radiobeat Records in 1984. Tracks A12 to B12 were originally released as "1982 Demo". • xXx Fanzine (1983-1988) Hardcore & Punk in the Eighties isn’t a mere collection of articles, reviews and photographs from one of Hardcore America’s best-known fanzines - it’s a chronicle of punk’s evolution in the 80’s; a story of music and ideologies in motion. xXx’s story picks up while the first wave of hardcore was in full swing. Major players including Minor Threat had already released landmark records and bands were loading up station wagons to play now infamous venues like The Channel, A7 or D.C. Space. While based in Boston, xXx’s main writer and editor, Mike Gitter, not only concentrated on his own city’s burgeoning scene, spear-headed by bands like SS Decontrol and D.Y.S., but looked to other states and countries for xXx’s reportage. This hardcover, 11"x11", 288-page book documents a time when hardcore and punk were not mutually exclusive and bands and cities had a chance to develop their own diverse and strident sounds. This creative ethos and aural zeitgeist is literally spelt out on the 19-song compilation that’s included with xXx Fanzine, with either download card or limited edition 12inch; a wide variety of current hardcore, punk and hard music luminaries including Strife, letlive., Fu Manchu and The Riverboat Gamblers contributed their interpretations to some of the most influential songs to come from xXx’s original era. Now, in addition to reproducing (and restoring) countless interviews and pages from the ‘zine itself, xXx Fanzine re-interviews countless bands and musical prime-movers including Ian MacKaye, Keith Morris and members of Agnostic Front, Bad Brains and Cro-Mags to give the book a rare ‘then and now’ perspective. xXx Fanzine (1983-1988), Hardcore & Punk in the Eighties isn’t merely a look back at hardcore’s salad days, but a unique look at how punk’s music and message shook the mainstream itself. xXx Fanzine (1983-1988) Hardcore & Punk in the Eighties features: Minor Threat, Misfits, Necros, Circle Jerks, Suicidal Tendencies, Husker Du, Jerry’s Kids, Black Flag, D.O.A., G.B.H, Void, Negative Approach, 7 Seconds, D.Y.S., Scream, Metallica, Corrosion of Conformity, Minutemen, The Exploited, Anthrax, Subhumans, Dead Kennedys, SSD, Henry Rollins, Descendents, Bad Brains, Youth of Today, Motorhead, Dag Nasty, Snapshot, Samhain, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Bad Religion, Fugazi, and more… (Bridge 9 Press)

The American punk rock band Social Distortion formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. Frontman of the band is vocalist, guitar player and main songwriter Mike Ness. Worcester, Massachusetts-based crossover outfit HIGH COMMAND set out on a warpath to create the heaviest work they have produced yet on their debut full-length and Southern Lord debut, Beyond The Wall Of Desolation. HIGH COMMAND is, in their own words, “five friends coming together to create the sonic equivalent of a barbarian horde.” The band’s lyrical world, created by vocalist Kevin Fitzgerald, is steeped in lore and savagery, heavily inspired by fantasy-based warfare, and in the band’s words, “boundless quests frozen in the aeons of time and space hacked out of ice and transcribed in lightning. Beyond the thin vail of sanity lies the forgotten age of mysticism and heroes.” Their studio choice for such proceedings was the legendary Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, constantly challenging the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of recorded media. From hearing previous projects recorded there (, The Body, Big Brave and Churchburn to name a few) it was apparent to the band that this was a studio that had a focus on the unique and the organic. Seth Manchester, the head engineer, worked tirelessly for the week HIGH COMMAND was there, sculpting a record with a healthy respect to the Old Gods of metal they admire while at the same time, sonically speaking, also carving a realm of its own. The eight bludgeoning tracks on Beyond The Wall Of Desolation cleave the tender cranium of the listener asunder across their forty-three-minute running time. RIKK AGNEW wrote, sang and played every ferocious note on his first solo LP, All By Myself, first released in October 1982. The vinyl has been out-of-print since the mid-'80s, then reappeared as bonus tracks on the ADOLESCENTS self-titled CD up until 2000. Frontier has always felt that this album contained some of his best songs ("O.C. Life," "Falling Out"), so here it is, finally released all by itself on vinyl. Label: Frontier Records

Rightly considered one of the absolute masterpieces of European hc/punk, 'Lo Spirito Continua...' is now completely remastered from the original tapes by famous sound engineer Ale Sportelli, longtime collaborator of the band in the early days. An essential hc masterpiece! (Spittle Records - SPITTLE142LP)

Hailing from the coastal town Brest in the far north-western corner of France LITOVSK deliver a fulminant and outstanding 2nd album. Dark and gloomy Postpunk/Wave. Rumbling and driving basslines, straight drumming topped by partly wavey guitar riffs: simple, clean and honest while retaining a good portion of frenetic power and energy. Think of THE ESTRANGED, NEW FLESH or RED DONGS. A Band  to reckon with: LITOVSK is defintely one of the best Postpunk coming from Europe these days. On this records they manage to give an extra vibe to the last wave and created eleven hymns to dance and sing along with. (Symphony Of Destruction Records)

Reissue of this 1994 album from the Crust/Doom Metal band. HUMAN GARBAGE was the first full length (1994) released on the bands' own Life is Abuse and Misanthropic Records. From '91 to '93 Dystopia existed as a four piece. Included with this release are the tracks from splits with GRIEF and EMBITTERED, both from 1993 and another only previously released on the first CD format of this collection. Out of print for years these songs find a new home at Tankcrimes. The pure anger and misery that is constantly present on this record make it undoubtedly one of the most disturbing, depressing and misanthropic records ever. An essential part of any sludge punk, crust metal or doom fan's collection. Label: Tankcrimes Records
