• In 2019 BC (before Covid), Discharge frontman Jeff Janiak reached out to longtime friend and musician JP Parsons to assist on a new project. The pair wrote and recorded various ideas before reaching out to Amebix guitarist Stig.C.Miller who joined them during the global pandemic. The trio utilized this new creative climate of physical restriction and went on to set the foundations for their first album, via file sharing home recordings, which would be arranged and produced by Miller. It was several months later when he would call upon Nausea, Ministry, and former Amebix drummer Roy Mayorga to complete the lineup. Mayorga went onto record drums, mix, and produce the band’s debut album, Let Them Eat Fake. In these unprecedented times of global restriction, fear, and the everlasting lack of faith in the hierarchy, FALSE FED has cultivated a heavy sound that is drenched in melody, aggression, and shrouded in darkness; an ominous and dystopian entity that is not bound by genre, yet still offers subtle hints to the creators’ lineage. • Aural Guerrilla was released in 1988 on the band’s own Ex Records in Europe and in the United States on indie rock label Homestead Records making it The Ex’s first studio album to be widely distributed in the North America. The album’s central cover image is that of a gorilla yawning, suggesting the homonymous pun with the album’s title, “oral gorilla.” As with The Ex’s previous album, Too Many Cowboys, the band packed the record sleeve with inserts, a set of four giant double-sided posters designed by eight different graphic artists. Another large poster contained the record’s lyrics and included a reduction of the album’s cover art formatted to the size of an audio cassette accompanied by a note encouraging fans to duplicate and distribute it because “home-taping saves money.” Original release-date 1988. Includes the original 8 posters & the lyrics-sheet/poster. Completely like the original release. Terrie (guitar), G.W. Sok (vocals), Luc (bass), Katrin (drums), Nicolette (guitar, whistles, mouth-organ). Guest musicians; Ferrie Meurkerrie (trumpet tk.1-2), Harry (percussion tk.2-4), Dolf Planteijdt (guitar tk.1-3) Recorded at Studio Suite 16, Rochdale, England. Produced by Jon Langford. "The Ex are a regression to the pop of rage. They understand that punk's form of protest was to amplify your alienation and disposession... The Ex are best when they're the sound of a collapsing system, a catastrophic fury that's senseless and unnegotiable. That's their lure in this era of pragmatic reformers." "Powerful, strong punk, with a bit of an industrial edge, and as always, inspiring lyrics." Label: The Ex Records

Inspired by the frigid and inhospitable environment encountered in their native Novosibirsk, Siberia, the band weaves the stark atmosphere of the 1980s Soviet era with the emotionally detached post-punk and rock genres. Ploho emerged as a household name in their native Russia, and has built up a dedicated fanbase in Europe and abroad. The band was formed by singer and guitarist Victor Uzhakov in 2013, who tapped Andrei Smorgonsky on bass and Igor Starshinov on synths. The threesome are one of the most prominent purveyors of the newly dubbed “new wave of Russian music,” also known as “Russian Doomer,” creating a dark and captivating blend of rock, post-punk, and new wave. The new album, When the soul sleeps, is the band’s best, combining indie rock with dark post-punk, with the marvellous vocals and lyrics from frontman Victor Uzhakov. • It's always a big pleasure for us to announce the release of an Italian new band. ASTIO come from Trento (veeeeryyyy Northern Italy) and have members who already destroyed our eardrums with bands like Left In Ruins, Impulso, Tuono and so on. This brand new combo delivers something really far from the fast/crusty/old schoolish noise we were used to, indeed this is totally catchy Peace/Post-Punk sung in Italian with hints of saxophone here and there. Imagine Wipers playing Gang Of Four (or vice versa) after having listened all day to Chain Cult. The record will be a one sided 12" on White vinyl with one screen-printed side, limited to 300 copies. Also the cover will be screen printed by the band itself. Label: Agipunk

Canadian powerhouse WARKRUSHER are back after their insanely great self titled Demo Tape, Pils Sessions #11 Tape and the Epitaph 7". Agipunk will release their debut LP in Europe (American press by Desolate Records) right on time for their European tour. Now, a few words about the music: I honestly think this is the perfect combination between old school stench core a la Axegrinder, Deviated Instinct, early Hellshock and early nineties Bolt Thrower. I've been shocked by the thick granitic power of this new recordings and felt my eardrums under a relentless siege that I had to listen to this damn good record over and over again for the next days. Not to talk about the artwork: simply insane with all those little details and stuff. Label: Agipunk

For those who are not familiar with Misery, they are a band from Minneapolis that started playing at the end of the Eighties and released many records during all these years without changing their style for the trendier shit or losing their incredible dose of rotting and angry power. A total amount of 13 tracks for nearly 40 minutes of dirty, pissed and stinky crust punk! It comes with a 4 page booklet with all the images taken from their original records, lyrics and info. Taking their name from the eighth series of US nuclear weapons tests, which left a legacy of radiation in the South Pacific, Operation Ivy were never going quietly into that good night. In fact, the Berkeley, California ska-punks were hellbent on doing the opposite, and storming filthy after dark sessions at ear-piercing volume, tearing venues and crowds apart in the process. They only released one album, 1989's Energy, before disbanding, with members going on to form the far longer-lasting band Rancid. Nevertheless, Operation Ivy made a significant impression, and are cited as influential by a number of outfits in ska's third wave. At least some of the album tracks are featured here, only in rawer, often extended form, with a host of bonus rarities helping polish - if that's really an appropriate word for this lot - a fantastic retrospective of a troupe that go unmentioned too often. Cruz was formed in Barcelona in 2012 with the idea of starting a band that mixed heavy and aggressive punk with dark old-school metal such as Celtic Frost and Bathory. However, from very early on, their sound became more aligned with the classic Swedish death metal style. In 2013, the first Cruz lineup was completed, and with that lineup, a self-titled demo was recorded that same year and then released in 2015 by Raw War Tapes. In 2015, now with a different lineup, Cruz entered Moontower Studios and recorded their first album, Culto Abismal, which was released a year later by To The Death Records, Sentient Ruin Laboratories, and Selfmadegod Records. A European tour followed right after the album’s release. During the following years, after numerous gigs and various lineup changes, a new Cruz lineup was established in 2020: Imanol and Xavi, the only remaining original members, on guitar and drums, respectively, alongside guitarist Michele, bassist Simone, and vocalist Narcís. With this lineup intact, in 2021 did they record a new album, Confines de la Cordura, once again at Moontower Studios. Featuring lyrics both in Spanish and Catalan, Confines de la Cordura absolutely CRUSHES from the very beginning: classic early ’90s Swedish-style death metal this may be, but Cruz pump it full of an urgency and electricity that simply can’t be denied. The songwriting simply stuns with its earworming flow, with malevolently majestic leads riding atop the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse gallop, and Narcís’ annunciation dripping malice across each one of these seven stout tracks. And while “Swedish death metal” may conjure images of the usual suspects – Entombed, Dismember, and/or Grave – it’s perhaps more accurate to liken Cruz to the idiom’s culter names like Seance, Desultory, or especially Unanimated; the obsidian gleams as brightly as the blood-red here on Confines de la Cordura. The dark-horse death metal album of the year? Nuclear Winter confidently places its bets on Cruz‘s Confines de la Cordura. Black vinyl pressed on 300 copies. Comes with insert. • This early discography release incl. 17 songs that previously appeared on “Apartheid” 7” (1986), “Aaargh!” 7” (1987), split 7” w/ Don Don (1989) and compilation tracks (from “Rapsodie En France” LP and “1984 – Third” LP). Scraps of this period is a total loud rager – fast and uncompromising political hardcore thrash. Sonically and lyrically it’s one of the most vicious and aggressive all out attack towards the government, racist system, neo-fascism, patriarchy or animal abuse of the era. One of the few hardcore bands in France of this period. Radical, anarchist and strongly advocating DIY (“major labels fuck you – we don’t need you!”). Unfortunately with the songs like “Le Pen fuck you”, their message from back then is still relevant today, even after more than 35 years. This collection is absolutely essential if you’re into 80’s European hardcore punk. “Noise not music 1986-1989” LP is coming out with two booklets – one with tons of unknown photos, flyers, graphics and another one is a reprint of their fanzine from 1986. Mastered by Smok (Studio As One). Layout by Jarosław Składanek. Aaargh!!! Label: Refuse Records
  • ‘Punch Drunk’ is the second album from London-based trio More Kicks, on Dirtnap Records (USA) and Stardumb Records (EU). The band’s self-titled debut album was a concise and ragged lesson in pop songwriting dripping in melody, cynicism and energy. ‘Punch Drunk’ marks a new era for the band. Heavier, more expansive, more twists and turns. It veers from sparkling harmonies to fearsome riffing in the blink of eye, with never a second wasted. As with the first record, it was recorded live on to 2” tape. It’s bottled lightning and the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. James Sullivan (Sulli) – vox/guitar; Kris Hood – drums; Paolo Mantovani – bass/vox have cooked up a rare alchemy. A More Kicks song can touch on classic 60s garage, 70s NYC rock and roll, jagged 90s guitar pop – all wrapped in a razor sharp bundle. A glance backwards and a decisive step forwards. FFO: Buzzcocks, Kinks, Exploding Hearts, Guided By Voices, The Replacements “When the world collapsed in 2020, I realised more than ever how much I rely on music and More Kicks,” says Sulli. “This album became a total obsession and a lifeline. Stuck in one place, the songs all came from heartbreak, frustration, anger, hope. It feels like a unique set of circumstances that produced this record and I’m really proud of what we’ve done.” (Dirtnap Records/Stardumb Records)

Time to Resign is the debut record from this new Swedish käng band featuring members whose names you might recognize from similar groups like Meanwhile, Dischange, No Security, Disfear, and many more I’m sure (ask Usman, he’ll tell you). The sound, fans will be pleased to hear, is what you’d expect from this crew, but something about Verdict feels more vital and less off-the-cuff than other projects from the post-Totalitär Swedish hardcore underground. The first thing you’ll notice with Verdict is the vocals, which are hoarse, snarling, and captivating. The lyrics are in English, which is relatively uncommon for Swedish bands of this ilk, and they’re excellent, conveying a mix of anger, disgust, and horror at the current condition of the world, riding the fine line between being direct and more evocative and poetic. The music is pitch-perfect käng, so meticulously composed that it feels almost claustrophobic at first, but when you listen closely, you hear the inventiveness on display. As with Totalitär, the riffing ranges from super catchy (“Hypocrisy,” “Bound to Fail”) to straightforward and brutal (“Lock Down Society”), with the rhythm section executing a range of different d-beat grooves and tempos to match. Verdict constantly changes things up and keeps them exciting, knowing just when to shift gears into something like the standout “Dark Thoughts,” which speeds up the groove from Discharge’s “A Look at Tomorrow.” I can’t believe Time to Resign is 15 minutes long… it feels like half that, and every time the record ends I’m left wanting more. - Sorry State (Phobia Records)
  • "In the spring of 1986, we recorded the songs for the compilation "Jak punk to punk". Thanks to the help of the sound engineer Włodek Kowalczyk, we were able to record eight additional numbers live, without the consent and knowledge of the censorship. This is the last session with Scandal as our vocalist (he died in 1995). The tape laid 36 years among the the ensemble's other archives until today. We now release it in the form of the album "1986, what will be tomorrow?"." Dezerter was formed in Warsaw in May 1981. The group was called SS-20 at that time, and the name was deeply provocative, as it referred to Soviet nuclear warhead missiles. There were two designs of the missile, it was able to fly up to 6000 km, and was in use between 1975 to 1991, when the introduction of international anti-nuclear war pacts made it illegal. Hence, the name itself was considered an incredible provocation for many. Articles ran thru both the Polish and Russian press regarding the "punk" group's name. Soon enough, the group experienced censors examining their lyrics before concerts telling them which songs they could not perform due to their subject matter. "We would comply, and as soon as the censors left, we would go ahead and play them anyway..." -Robal. Eventually the group came to a point that they were unable to even list their name on concert posters, and with more and more difficulty to perform under this controvercial name, the group had to abandon the title of "SS20". These early days were documented in a small film made about the group titled "Byc Czlowiekiem" (J. Pakula) filmed July 1982. The band’s first concert took place at the Mokotowska Jesień Muzyczna in November 1981. During the period of martial law in Poland (1981-1983), the band was forced to change its name to DEZERTER. Towards the end of 1983, Dezerter recorded a single for the Tonpress label. The single was called "Ku przyszłości" and it comprised 4 tracks ("Ku przyszłości", "Spytaj milicjanta", "Szara rzeczywistość", "Wojna głupców"). Released in 1984, this became the first punk single with blatant political text against the system to be issued within Poland; ironically enough issued by the hypocritical system which they rejected. The 7", packaged in a generic coloured Tonpress sleeve, sold a phenominal 50,000 copies. Members of the group actually made an alternate xerox-collage cover, which was thinly distributed mostly around the Warszawa region. After this initial pressing sold out, the commission at Tonpress over-ruled it being re-issued, and hundreds or thousands of copies were destroyed. As the band had problems releasing albums, they decided to establish their own small record label, the Tank Records. The company released two audio cassettes: "Jeszcze żywy człowiek" (Dezerter concert recording from Jarocin 1984) and "Izolacja" (Dezerter concert recording from the Hybrydy club, with the addition of a few tracks by new wave Soviet bands). Despite difficulties, the band decided to continue to play, with Robal on lead vocals again. In 1985, a compilation album "Fala" was released. It combined tracks by Polish bands such as Siekiera, Kryzys, Izrael, and it also included 2 releases by Dezerter ("Nie ma zagrożenia" and "Plakat). In 1987, two important events in the history of the band took place. Firstly, Dezerter played a gig at Jarocin Festival. Secondly, their first album in the United States, "Underground Out Of Poland", was released on the Maximum Rock'n'Roll label. Additionally, thanks to the then manager, Maciej Chmiel, Dezerter could relase their first LP album, entitled "Kolaboracja". Obviously, the album was censored. Dezerter is still active to this day, playing gigs and releasing new records. (Pasazer Records)
