Out of stockWe’re really excited to announce the release of the D.O.A. album “1978”. It’s a 21 track collection of never released demos, rare tracks and early singles from Canada’s punk pioneers. Joey Shithead went deep into the Sudden Death vault and came up with some super exciting and raw punk rock. The album title and art concept is spike haired nod of the head to that early, dynamic era of D.O.A. and to the seven great former members of D.O.A., who have passed on. Their spirit and talent played a huge role into launching the band into worldwide prominence. The two constants on the album are Joey Shithead and Chuck Biscuits who play on every track. From the start of 1978 you are drawn in by their wild, “I don’t give a shit” approach to punk rock. Now some 40 years later you can hear it all, starting with the never seen light of day demo version of The Enemy. This demo has a different set of lyrics that speaks to fighting Nazis, strange, what is old is new and vital again. There’s a ton of exciting tracks that range from the never heard before: Bored and Suicidal, The Mutant, No God No War, Rip Dis Joint, No Way Out and Rent-A-Riot to classic early singles like Fucked Up Ronnie, Disco Sucks, World War3, The Prisoner and Thirteen. You also get demo versions of America the Beautiful and Liar for Hire with Biscuits drumming, which are wildly different than the classic versions you hear on War on 45. On 1978 you hear the origins of hardcore and you get a full blast of D.O.A’s politics and raucous humour. The album has been released as a double 12” LP and CD. 1979 Demo: A1, B4 1981 Demo: A2, A3, B1, B3 1978 Single: A4, C1, D1, D2, D3, D4 1981 Single: A5 1982 Demo: B2, C2, C3, C4, C5 1979 Single: B5, D5 1979 Van. Comp. Track: C6 (Sudden Death Records)

Out of stockHow to Clean Everything is the debut album by the punk rock band Propagandhi, released in 1993 on Fat Wreck Chords. Vocalist Chris Hannah said about the album: "I dig it. We still play songs from that record. When I hear them and I play them, the message still resonates with me and I can see the 20 year old Chris writing those songs. It’s still fun, I still get a kick out of it. When we play them these days, they seem seamless in the set, with the new songs. There’s a bit of a difference in terms of the depth and dimension, but they’re still fun to play. I just don’t like when I hear that record, like when I hear that actual record, that recording. That moment in time. I’m just like, "Jesus Christ, turn that fucking thing off". But I don’t regret it. I’m not trying to hide that record from people. I just can’t lie to people and tell them we’re going to make another How to Clean Everything." 20th Anniversary Edition, 2013 re-mastered reissue. Includes the full original album, and 3 outtakes that Fat Mike cut from the initial record. Issued with printed inner-sleeve containing lyrics and credits with photo collage on flipside. Includes Download code. Label: Fat Wreck Records Barcode: 751097091111

Out of stockLess Talk, More Rock is the second full-length album by the Canadian punk rock band Propagandhi, and the last album to feature bassist John K. Samson. Released in 1996. Chris Hannah described the album as a conscious decision to be more confrontational, noting the presence of the term "gay-positive" on the album cover. The album was expressly political to weed out the "jocks" and "bros" in the audience. "When How to Clean came out, we had no idea anyone would like it, then we went and played some shows and all of a sudden, oh, who are all these fucking jocks and skaters and surfers here? Fuck them," says Hannah. "Let's draw a line in the sand, let's make sure we're not misunderstood. We have these values, let's make sure nobody misunderstands them, even if it separates the wheat from the chaff and we're the chaff and it's just us. Let's lay it out on the table." Includes two sided, colour insert with Political Views. Includes Digital Download card. Label: Fat wreck Records Barcode: 751097066614

Ready for the most frantic’n’furious 13 minutes you’ll hear all year? Good job - The Hell hail from Norfolk County, Cleveland, and their self-titled debut album is a teeth-rattlingly excellent slab of hardcore punk; probably the best since… ooh, I dunno. Bootlicker? Slant? Judy & The Jerks? Chain Whip? Like all of those records, it’s a trip back to the glory days of hardcore - arguably several periods that could fit under that term - and it’s relentlessly, almost heroically great. Ten songs fly by before you’ve even had the chance to fully process anything beyond a general sensation best summed up with the word/sound/guttural exhalation ‘WHOAAAA’. The best bit? Each and every one of them totally fucking rips. You’ll hear flashes of everything you love etched into these grooves: the raucous chaos of the Kings of Punk themselves, Poison Idea; the SoCal brattiness and garagey schlock of TSOL, Angry Samoans and/or Circle Jerks when they were all getting started; the speed, breakdowns and temper tantrums of NYHC before all that heavy metal stuff got involved… But of course you didn’t come here for a catalogue of soundalikes, you came here to get your ears melting and your synapses pulsating til they’re spinning like an angle grinder against the inside of your skull. Right? Well, that’s why I’m here anyway. And lemme tell ya, this delivers on that front: The Hell are their own beast, un-peg-down-able by mere reference points and speculation as to possible influences. Let’s just agree that they’ve absorbed all of it and made a sound that’s recognisable but wholly their own. Which is to say: you’ll dig it. You want context? Hell, I’ll give ya context. The Hell feature ex-members of former Lumpy faves Cruelster, Sorry State nihilists Woodstock 99 and D-beat aggro types Hysteria, among others. Maybe that list gives you a firmer picture of where they’re coming from; maybe you read it and nodded politely, making furious mental notes to check ‘em all out when you get five minutes (and you really, really should). But let’s face it - in the here and now, all this detail is ephemera. What matters is this record. Don’t make me type out a hackneyed quip about the devil having all the best tunes (gahhh, too late), or the road to The Hell being paved with good intentions (booooooo). Just do what’s only right and proper in the circumstances, and get the fuck involved. This ludicrously short and effortlessly brilliant record demands it. Will Fitzpatrick. Released in UK/ Europe via Drunken Sailor Records, Not For The Weak Records in the USA Label: Drunken Sailor Records

Since forming in Manitoba in 1986, Propagandhi have brought an emphatic anti-fascist message to their music. Along with addressing a number of personal losses suffered in recent years, Victory Lap, the band's first full-length since 2012's Failed States, finds the band facing a landscape in which fascism is—among a certain crowd—suddenly trendy. Victory Lap also marks Propagandhi’s first album with new guitarist Sulynn Hago, who joins Samolesky, frontman Chris Hannah, and bassist Todd Kowalski. Replacing longtime guitarist David Guillas (who appears on several tracks on Victory Lap), Hago was added to the lineup after Propagandhi put out a call for audition tapes and received over 400 responses. "A couple years ago my consigliere Mr @jonahjonahfalco played me a track he was working on, and I immediately fell in love with its Pet Shop Boys style electronics tom-toms and their late Blitz general vibe. Down the pub and upon some further discussion I learnt the band was Edmonton’s @arewenothomefront , and as it happened I already knew @noproblempunx We got talking and a few months later ‘Think Of The Lie” 12” came out. I loved it and so did a lot of people it seems. Then the band came and played two fantastic shows @staticshockrecords and I finally met Mr @wegotemboys and the rest of the band which as it happened were the sweetest bunch. By then we have been in touch regularly and I can say, without a doubt, that working with them has been an incredible experience, I want to think we all have learnt a lot from each other and became great friends on the way. Today is the day their second record gets announced and I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It is a very special record, hard to pinpoint but a record which, at least in this house, gets played over and over. I hope you dig it." Paco “Enormous full length debut from Home Front who have managed to fix truth to the beautiful and borderline mythical threadneedle moment in which punk, new wave, pop, indie and rock and roll all descend upon a single source. We may have only dreamed that Tears for Fears might have been going to see GBH at the weekend or that Annie Lennox spent her evening sewing Crass patches to her Wrangler Blue Bell jacket, but Home Front have rang the dinner triangle for us all to feast. High moments of perfectly patinated synth brilliance, tender new wave considerations, punk anthems that could fill the biggest stadium, and fiery hooks that could warm the coldest cynic. The Champagne, the gluebag, the boots, and the eyeliner, GAMES OF POWER clutches to it all. GAMES OF POWER lives inside a crystal clear recording by long time friend and Edmonton wizard Nik Kozub, bringing Home Front’s follow up to “Think of The Lie” to euphoric heights and gritty lows. Produced again by Jonah Falco remotely and between sub zero 10 kilometer runs in Edmonton in late February with co-production by Nik Kozub, Home Front have put their best mirror shined boot forward." Compiling all E.P.'s by Bootlicker, "Lick The Boot, Lose Your Teeth" presents 24 tracks originally released over four 7"s dating back to 2017. From the earliest incarnation of the band and the start of their signature production and sound to where they are now. With the overblown martial drumming, completely pinned clean guitar attack, Bootlicker has been a fresh take on D-Beat tradition with a handful of Oi/UK82 and American Hardcore influence on the side. Each 7" is compiled here and represents a different phase of the band. The completely broken speaker aggression of "Who Do You Serve", the slight Rock 'n' Roll influenced "Nuclear Family" and bare bones approach of the "Six Track E.P." all paved the way to a more realized sound in "How To Live Life". Instead of tracking down each out of print, individual E.P. Here they are for the taking. (Static Shock Records)

The Vancouver based streetpunk band, BISHOPS GREEN was formed in Spring of 2011. Bishops Green’s music is raw and energetic, with a style firmly embedded in the historic roots of Streetpunk and Oi!. The five long-time friends have been playing in bands together since the ’90s, and this history combined with the group's diverse influences, enables the creation of a catchy sing-along sound that will make sure any audience member feels like they are part of the show! Energetic and charismatic front-man Greg Huff is known to many fans of streetpunk and Oi!, as he has been the heart-beat of numerous bands since the late 80’s, including GLORY STOMPERS, SUBWAY THUGS, THE LANCASTERS and most recently ALTERNATE ACTION. Their melodic style of old-school punk draw creative influences from European groups like BLITZ, THE CLASH, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, COCK SPARRER, THE PARTISANS and LEATHERFACE; to hardcore acts from the U.S. like THE AUTHORITIES, NAKED RAYGUN, and MINOR THREAT. Following a very impressive and critically acclaimed debut 12” MLP in 2013, this full-length album picks up right where that left off. At the core, the songs on "Pressure" are similar, but with a noticeable growth and maturation to them. The lyrics continue to be bold and ask questions of our society, while extolling the traditions and pride of punk rock culture and accountability to each other through unity. (Pirates Press Records)

Back in May 2019, Vancouver trio Corner Boys released their sole album… and promptly split a few months later. In retrospect, they couldn’t have known that the album’s title (‘Waiting For 2020’) would soon seem grimly ironic - and we all know why, right? No reason to go over all that shit again. But while the past two years have at least seen drummer/songwriter Patrick McEachnie staying active across two essential records with hardcore heroes Chain Whip, lockdown saw him switching roles. Basically, he bought a guitar and made an excellent record all on his lonesome, and as followers of his other projects will have come to expect, it’s fucking excellent. ‘Glad To Be Forgotten’ is the debut album by Pack Rat - in some ways you can see some level of crossover with Corner Boys in its manic energy and dedication to hooks (cuts like ‘Next Time Hit Me’ and ‘My Own Reality’ are so damn catchy, you could be forgiven for thinking you’ve already been listening to ‘em on repeat for the past 20 years). Familiar reference points show up (the melodies of the Pointed Sticks; the garage-slanted rifferama of Rudi or The Undertones) while a tinny budget synth keeps things ticking along nicely, just to remind you that this is a homespun DIY project. But honestly, this has the feel of a fully fleshed-out project and leaves you desperate for another fix of its sweet’n’sour tang. For anyone who loves the collision point between ‘New Rose’, powerpop sunshine and sheer rock’n’roll exuberance, this is essential. For everyone else, this is surely the gateway to all of that good stuff. You want to hear the tunes that’ll star on future generations’ equivalents to the Killed By Death comps? That’ll set your pulse soaring and your pogo muscles into overdrive? That’ll remind you of why this punk rock business still feels worth dedicating your life to, even after all this time? Hey, Pack Rat’s got ‘em. Now do your part. Will Fitzpatrick. (Drunken Sailor Records)

6 tracks of Vancouver, BC hardcore. Chain Whip formed in 2018 with the sole intention of playing their favorite blend of hardcore punk. Part KBD, part California beach, part grimy Vancouver. This 12" E.P. finds the band in a faster, more furious mode with five original tracks written and recorded in the height of the 2020 Pandemic. 3 tracks are re-recorded and polished versions from their 2020 Demo (being pressed on LP RIGHT NOW by No Spirit in Germany) while the others are brand new Chain Whip recordings. The final track, Death Was Too Kind was written by Brian Goble and recorded by the Subhumans. From the band: "For me it started in December 2019 when a developer unveiled a 5 million dollar chandelier to hang from the Granville Street Bridge - a testament to wealth and the city's cluelessness. A smug fuck you on display for the world to ogle while people froze in sleeping bags underneath. That insult grew into something more tangible. 2020 was the year that an ever-worsening overdose epidemic was too boring for most news cycles. We watched citizens of North America get murdered in real time by pigs. White supremacists marched in the streets, encouraged by their revered grifters. Major news corporations backed both on primetime while demonizing people for just wanting to stay alive. We sat back, depressed and tuned into the images. We wished that we could just pull the plug on the nightmare around us. We attended some demonstrations, organized some benefits. Stayed home and we drank and drugged. We tried to sleep away the reality. Just like pollution makes the sunsets richer, we danced that good beat; a dependable, monotonous, continuous death. It hasn't quite come for us yet but we're still dancing to that tune - ever closer to the edge. Two Step To Hell. Meaner, faster, and a bit more pissed off." Chain Whip (Drunken Sailor Records)

Out of stockCreated on the western edges of the infinite plains and prairies of coldest Canada, Edmonton, Alberta's HOME FRONT dance freely and madly along the edges of time and create their own moment amongst the revered and long frozen reserves of THE CURE, SUICIDE, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, "Second Empire Justice" era BLITZ, and NEW ORDER. A record bubbling over with analog synth, guitar loops, slammed 808 drums, and anthemic vocal pushes tugging at the great moment in-between the “death” of punk and the “birth” of new wave, pulling fresh sounds into their punk roots and shoving a studded leather jacket around a silk robe. Justice, violence, doubt and uncertainty a la Gary Numan narrating a Warren Miller Extreme Ski Special on the set of TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA: this is HOME FRONT. (La Vida Es Un Ms Records)

It's 2021 and Vancouver’s Bootlicker are back with their first full length. Experimenting with various lineups and sounds since 2017, these 14 original tracks flesh out their most realized expression. Following four EP’s and two demos, their self-titled debut stays true to the noise cultivated in the previous offerings. That raw, blown-out production countered with clean guitar sound and Internationally-informed take on a UK82 delivery remains. Everything that made the band what they were on their previous output is polished into a ball of fire that will not be contained. Their mid-tempo, menacing posture of tracks like "Herd The Sheep" and "State Of Fever" give way to the D-beat totality of "Master" or "Two Faced" proving there are still ideas in the tank. There won’t be much left but scorched earth by the time it comes to rest. FFO: Mau Maus, Discharge, SSD. Every copy of this LP comes with a 16 page zine-style lyric insert full of illustrations by band member and visual artist Athena. (Static Shock Records)

Pummeling curveball from Fucked Up channeling the world of hardcore that birthed them!! Despotic and horrendously sludgy riffs exploding in octaves lower than Hades, crashing against hellish bellowing all while the rhythm section heaves at a pace that only Noothgrush, Crossed Out, Kiss it Goodbye, and Bloodlet would tread upon. Topped off with an absolutely despicable cover of Saint-Saens "The Aquarium" this is the mythologically psychedelic sludge record you never thought Fucked Up would make. 4 tracks of pure audio excretion. Out of stockThis US fanclub collection from Canada's DEATH SENTENCE (not to be confused with the UK or Australia bands of the same moniker) features both of their 1984 demos, the latter of which, "Not a Pretty Sight," went on to be released as a proper LP in 1985. 'A very classy, powerful power thrash outfit that doesn't resort to metal riffs. If anything, they owe more to earlier punk, but they're firmly rooted in modern sounds, blasting it out with strong lyrics and hooks to boot--"live" proof that Vancouver is not dead. Hot!' -Tim Yohannan / MRR (October 1984) (Fan Club)

THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND EARLY JUNE, THANKS! The third album from legendary Canadian punk rock pioneers - D.O.A. from 1982. The fancy edition for the 40th birthday will be published by Pasażer Records in late May 2023. "War on 45" was the successor to the albums "Something Better Change" and "Hardcore '81", which are considered to be absolute classics of punk rock today. It was recorded in mid-1982 during several late-night sessions in Los Angeles (at night the price of the studio was half the price). In politics, it was a time of intensification of the Cold War and the arms race, and a lot of local, more or less bloody conflicts - hence the overtones of the title and most of the songs contained on it. You can hear the war there. On the other hand, the title "War on 45" is a parody of the then-popular lame compilations with hits like "Stars on 45". On the occasion of War on 45, a new line-up of the band crystallized. Joey Shithead and Dave Gregg were joined by Wimpy Roy from the Canadian band The Subhumans, who had just ceased to exist, and the drummer was Dimwit - the older brother of Chuck Biscuits, who in turn had just left the band. 8 tracks known from the original release were enriched with 7 bonuses, mainly from the demo recorded a few months earlier, when the drummer was still the aforementioned Biscuits (also known from many other legendary bands - Black Flag, Danzig, Social Distortion etc.). Thus, on one LP you have two best Canadian drummers of all time: the Montgomery brothers - Biscuits and Dimwit. The album includes two covers from both its US and European releases, and a 12-page booklet with unique archival photos, posters, and a story of the making of the album written by the Canadian godfather of punk rock, frontman D.O.A. - Joey Shithead, where many delicious anecdotes are told. This album blows your mind as hard as D.O.A. always could and sums up one of the best periods in the history of these world-famous punk pioneers. The new edition of "War on 45" will not be played at a fast 45 rpm, but at a regular 33 rpm. Tracklist A1 Liar for Hire A2 I'm Right, You're Wrong A3 America the Beautiful A4 Let's Fuck A5 War A6 I Hate You A7 War in the East A8 Class War B1 Rent-A-Riot (1982 demo) B2 Liar for Hire (1982 demo) B3 Race Riot (1982 demo) B4 America the Beautiful (1982 demo) B5 No Way Out (1982 demo) B6 No God, No War (1981 demo) B7 I Hate You (1982 demo) Label: Pasazer Records

Out of stockNew 40th Anniversary Edition! This is it! The godfather of hardcore from DOA, Canada’s legendary punk pioneers. It comes with an extensive 12-page booklet that features lots of photos and old school flyers. See that great line up of Joey Shithead, Chuck Biscuits, Randy Rampage, and Dave Gregg in action…indeed the Men of Action. Tracks like “D.O.A.,” “Slumlord” and “Unknown” lash out at the listener, as well the incredible “Fucked Up Baby” and “Smash The State” just spear one right in the gut. This album has influenced three generations of fans and artists like Rancid, Henry Rollins, Jello Biafra, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Green Day, NOFX and Sonic Youth. Grey vinyl. If the pandemic made you realize that you missed one thing about your connection with punk, there's a decent chance that Bishops Green had something to do with that. This band hits hard and reaches people on a very deep level. Making new fans daily, they continue to connect with scores of people very deeply, even not being able to tour. Yet the true magic in this band is really seeing them live. As the world returns to normal and gigs materialize, more and more people are gonna realize how important this band is to the social fabric of punk rock. The passion they’ve instilled in fans, and the fervor from within are both equally strong and together are the reason why this band has so much impact to deliver! This album and these songs absolutely set the tone, brilliantly, but there is so much more to come as well. Absolutely no lack of excitement in this maple-leaf-adorned corner of the punk rock world - in fact, quite the opposite! There are seemingly black skies adrift right now, but somehow these songs make you feel like there's a golden future on the horizon! We can all at least sing loud, and hope... TRACK LISTING: A Side 1. Last Minute Warning 2. Empty Streets 3. What For B Side 4. Ravens Cry 5. Your Paradox 6. No Tomorrow 7. Another Morning (Pirates Press Records)

Out of stockDayglo's "Feed Us A Fetus" is their second full-length album, originally released in 1986. This is hands-down, the best Canadian punk record to emerge from the 80's!! Aside from collecting most of the songs from their first 12? record entitled "Out Of The Womb" (1981), it also contains many brand new songs (at the time) that were even better than those on the first album. Many of their classic punk anthems are captured on this vinyl and Unrest Records is the sixth label to release the album over the years, which is a testament to what a classic it really is. There should be one of these in every punk rocker's record collection. Don't miss out!! (Unrest Records)

Raised on a heavy dosage of good ol' American rock and roll - of both the 1950s (Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry) and 1970s varieties (The MC5, The Stooges, The Velvets) - these 4 youngsters from working class Hamilton, in Southern Ontario, set their town, and soon after all of Canada, ablaze in the late 1970s with their raucous live act. Drawing their name from The Flamin' Groovies classic 1971 LP, Teenage Head formed in 1975 when all the members were classmates together at Westdale High School. After a few years of honing their chops and legendary live show, this LP, their debut album was released in 1979. A ripping mix of punk attitude and 50s rock riffs, Teenage Head are not interested in politics or philosophy: this is just young, loud, and dumb punk rock - the way it should be. Though their next album would make them stars across Canada with two hit singles, this album is their finest and most urgent recording. (Barnyard Records/Unofficial Release)

Official reissue this Canadian hardcore classic, originally released in 1986. Negative Gain was founded in Toronto, Ontario by Peter Warner who wrote all of the lyrics and provided rehearsal space in his basement. Filling out the lineup was Grant C. Slavin on guitar, Steve Currie on bass, and Andrew Mosely on drums. All members were in their mid-teens at the time. Their influences included Minor Threat, Millions of Dead Cops, the Misfits, and the Dead Kennedys, as well as local TO bands Direct Action and Sudden Impact. Negative Gain got their first break in '83 when we were asked by local Toronto promoter Jill Heath to open for Jodie Fosters Army at the city's legendary punk club The Turning Point. After the show Pete and Grant went skateboarding with JFA. The evening was documented in a subsequent issue of Thrasher as JFA's guitarist Don Pendelton was writing a column for the rag documenting their tour. Other memorable Negative Gain gigs around this time include warming up for bands like the Circle Jerks, Gang Green, the Descendents and 7 Seconds. The young thrash band soon went from listening to their favorite bands' records on a daily basis to hanging out with them backstage and stealing their beer rider! More help from Jill Heath came when the promoter sent Negative Gain's 1985 demo tape, Attack of the Killer Bears, to Pushead for review. Pushead evidently like the tape so much that he offered to release a full-length LP for the band. Negative Gain recorded their album in Oakville, Ontario in about five hours on a Saturday afternoon, as studio time was limited to what the young band could afford to spend on the recording. The session was produced by Brian Taylor of the Toronto band Youth Youth Youth. Sadly, Pete Warner committed suicide not too long after the recording was completed, and never lived to see its release. His last gig with the band was with Toronto's Bunchofuckingoofs. Negative Gain continued on as a three-piece for about two more years, before splitting in the late 1980s. The record comes with fold out inlay with photos and lyric sheet and extra poster of first and last side of the record. (Rest In Punk Records)

Out of stockThis is the 6 tack mini LP release from this amazing new Canadian band from Vancouver, Canada. Fronted by Greg Huff and supported by others formerly of bands including ALTERNATE ACTION, THE LANCASTERS, SUBWAY THUGS and GLORY STOMPERS, this is the perfect next step in the evolution of those bands. The sound is still raw yet melodic and catchy, but done with so much more skill and precision than all the aforementioned bands. Fans of catchy singalong street-punk rock 'n' roll and bands like THE BUSINESS and COCK SPARRER can buy this record without hesitation. Colored (yellow) vinyl comes with updated cover artwork and includes a digital download card. (Pirates Press Records)

Out of stockWrithing, sneering, tight cornered, "Machine Response" the only acceptable follow up to the blistering and landmark "Attempted Suicide." Nearly ten years of beating around the bush, casually playing around the world and drip releasing music along the way, Career Suicide is backed by their best lineup ever, ready to break back through themselves with this new full length. Machine Response veers in and out of pure speed, bursts of melody, and chunky tempo shifts, indenting the long standing influence of early 80s USHC, late 70s punk, and a peppering of 60s swagger, with their own clearly developed style. Dallas Good (Sadies, Andre Williams, John Doe, Half Japanese, Elevator and a million more) presents a magnificently essential 2nd guitar and lead presence; a screaming contribution by great friend and long time supporter of the band, Souichi Hisatake, (Forward, GISM, Insane Youth, Gudon etc) to crack your brain up; artwork in collaboration with Ryan Tong of S.H.I.T. and Toronto's life-giving Faith/Void; and a thundering recording, once again helmed by the decorated and limitless in his pursuit of smooth hearing loss, Jon Drew, provide the most damaging clarity Career Suicide have been able to capture to date. A brief but dense dose of simply hulking intense turmoil. Subtle terminology is trite, so to get to the point: S.H.I.T., the LP, blurs by in under twenty minutes of thrashing hardcore gristle. Gone are the tell-tale training wheels of delayed vocals and endless layers of feedback, here now are the tighter louder songs we'd hoped S.H.I.T. would write. A piercing musical rallying cry for the listless and ever approaching bulldoze march of the future, wrapped in cellophane transfers of melted early hardcore and the best of the last decade's fresh take on simplicity and power. What do you Stand for? comes housed in a sleeve designed by legendary hc punk outsider and former S.H.I.T. designer, Jaybo. The intricately illustrated hellish image was produced with bleach onto a massive bedsheet, though the entire package is wrapped in a self censored outer sleeve, seemingly in the service of protecting the purchaser's dignity. Additional design by Ryan Tong. (La Vida Es Un Mus Records/ Iron Lung Records)

Out of stockThe Vancouver based streetpunk band, BISHOPS GREEN was formed in Spring of 2011. (Rebellion Records)

Out of stockMaking tons of noise up north (and not just with the trombone) is Montreal's FAZE. Playing a version of punk that is equally married with psych rock, these songs drone, but there is no falter in the step them. Like a dune buggy slowly losing control, the pace is relentless. Culling elements of punk honed by fellow canadians, S.H.I.T. and more astronomical influences like Destruction Unit. Basically you have to be on drugs to fully understand this. 500 7 inches with 100 on greyish purple. (11PM Records)

Written and performed by S.H.I.T. Recorded by Dylan Frankland at Palace Studios. Mixing and additional recording by Jonah Falco. Mastered by Arthur Rizk. Artwork by Ryan Tong. European version available through La Vida Es Un Mus. North American version available through Iron Lung Records. (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)

Out of stockDekoder’s second LP is a 6-song mid-tempo combo of old school gothic rock, anarcho-punk and plain old ’77 style punk, influenced by the more thoughtful side of the punk musical spectrum (more on the Penetration side of things than, say, the Blatz side of things). As with a lot of the female-fronted bands working in this contemporary peace punk-meets-goth milieu, the stand-out quality here are the vocals. The vocal talents of bands like Pleasure Leftists, Blue Cross (who are label mates with Dekoder), and Masquerade comprise one of the more noteworthy aspects of all this Epic postpunk/anarcho-goth revivalist stuff. “Flowers to Blossom” is an intelligent and earnest marriage of the personal themes of liberation evinced by such past bands as the Poison Girls and Rubella Ballet combined with the musical approach of groups like early Siouxsie and the Banshees, Red Scare, later Superheroines, and Legal Weapon. It’s a combo that works quite well. "Interestingly, drummer David Earles (Dekoder, Dethfox) has compiled a book of travel essays and photography from a recent trip he made to North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. The book's called Dragging for Bodies and is an interesting peek into one society Americans aren't supposed to visit (N. Korea) and other places that are still recovering the war in Indo-China that devastated those countries in the 1960s and 70s. I have a copy of this book and it's a fascinating read." -Oliver Sheppard(Cvlt Nation) (Chaos Rural Records)
