The Ramones' fourth studio album from 1978, Road to Ruin. Originally released on Sept. 22, 1978, Road to Ruin—at the time—was a chronicle of the Queens quartet's most dynamic sonic shift to date. With Bell rechristened as Marky Ramone and Tommy splitting his production duties with Ed Stasium and managing the group, the fourth Ramones LP boasted a much looser grip on the relentless machine gun punk that defined the New York City punk rock sound in the mid-70s, featuring complex chord changes and a closer reach towards the '60s pop feel which was always at the core lead singer Joey Ramone's rebel heart. Featuring the iconic cover art of Punk Magazine founding editor John Holmstrom based on a fan-made drawing, not only does Road contain one of the Ramones' most enduring street hits "I Wanna Be Sedated," the original 12-track mix also featured maneuvers that were aimed directly at attaining the group more radio airplay, including a pair of ballads in the heartbreaking lament "Questioningly" and a sincere rendition of the 1963 Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono composition "Needles and Pins." The fire of the Gabba-Gabba-Heyday was present in the kinesis of blistering tracks like "I Wanted Everything," "I Just Wanna Have Something to Do" and "Bad Brain" (where the legendary DC hardcore band got its name, btw). But it's the lean towards the Ramones' affinity for Phil Spector's Wall of Sound that makes Road such a vital title in the group's canon. (Ron Hart) Remastered, 180 Gram (Sire/Rhino Records/2019)

Despite carrying on the celebratory tone of The Ramones' debut and Leave Home in the likes of Sheena Is A Punk Rocker, Cretin Hop a tribute to dirty Rockaway Beach and covers of The Trashmen and Do You Wanna Dance? Their third LP from 1977 displays a dark humour that's less jokey than the previous releases' goofs on bad mental health and dysfunctional relationships. the group's best-produced of its first three releases, rocket achieves an almost smooth texture thanks to a clean mix and increased use of Beach Boys-inspired vocal harmonies. The Ramones ignited the punk-rock movement with their eponymous 1976 debut album, revitalizing rock and roll at one of its lowest ebbs with attitude, energy and a loud, fast new sound. By cutting music down to its bare essentials – four chords; a simple, catchy melody; a sped up tempo and irresistibly inane lyrics, the Ramones blazed the trail for thousands of bands that followed, influencing everyone from The Clash and The Sex Pistols to Green Day and The Offspring. Although The Ramones never achieved mainstream financial success, they released 21 live and studio albums, had a devoted fan base and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. • 180g Vinyl LP • Superior 2017 remastered audio

Ratos De Porão's Crucificados Pelo Sistema (1984) contains all the fury, the frustration, the rage and the pain of four young ones against the system in a country that was in the midst of a change from Third World to trying to fitting into a new social order. The projected image of Brazil with its beautiful mulatas, exotic beaches and tropical fruit drinks filled them with disgust, living there in one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America. Their reality was brutal and they wanted to scream it at the entire world. Sixteen songs were formed on the same base as what would later be called "D-beat." The Finnish bands from the '80s were really important in the Brazilian punk scene, just as Discharge was. Simple, fast and straight to the point. Two classic songs have been added for this special occasion, recorded for the classic Ataque Sonoro compilation (which also contains Brazilian pioneers such as Virus 27, Colera, Armagedom or Lobotomia, amongst others). 180 gram vinyl. Housed in a gatefold with pics and musings by Gordo. (Beat Generation Records)

Out of stockInfluential Swedish hardcore band Refused were formed in 1991 by vocalist Dennis Lyxzén, guitarists Jon Brännström and Kristofer Steen, bassist Magnus Höggren, and drummer David Sandström. Debuting in 1993 with the EP This Is the New Deal, the group issued the full-length This Just Might Be…the Truth later that same year. The Everlasting EP followed in 1994, and in 1995 Refused returned with another EP, Refused Loves Randy. After 1996’s Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent, they issued the EP Rather Be Dead; in the wake of completing 1998’s classic The Shape of Punk to Come, Refused disbanded, unable to reconcile their anarchist leanings with a career in music. Originally released by Startracks in 1994 (Startrec at the time), this is the debut album by Refused. The record established them as one of the leading hardcore bands and quickly gained attention both in Sweden as well as abroad. Left-wing political lyrics combined with NYC hardcore influenced music. After being licensed to various labels as Epitaph, We Bite and Victory Records the catalogue is now back again with it’s original label Startracks. (Startracks Records)

"Paganicons" is the debut EP of post-hardcore band Saccharine Trust, originally released on December 10, 1981, through SST. Now available again on vinyl. One of the greatest of the early SST releases which is impressive considering a catalog which also included onset recordings from Minutemen and Black Flag. One listen and you can clearly here why guitarist Joe Baiza considered his band the black sheep of the label and why famous fans include Kurt Cobain, Buzz Osborne and Sonic Youth. Produced by Spot, Mike Watt and Saccharine Trust and recorded at Media Art Studio in Hermosa Beach in April of 1981. Includes lyric insert. (SST Records/Fanclub Pressing)

Out of stockThe 1983 debut release from Dischord Records' group SCREAM. Fast, angsty hardcore punk that sits in the same world as Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Dag Nasty ++ One of the less celebrated bands from the first generation of Dischord/DC hardcore punk, in part, I guess, because of their more advanced musical abilitities – that pushed their sound and style into rockier territories in later years (and let’s face it, the contribution of Grohl, albeit modest, has slightly tarnished their street credibilty). But, head back in time to this debut album of 1983, and you’re hard-pushed to find anything in the whole of early 80’s punk as blazingly fast, tight and hooky as Still Screaming. Definitely a classic, able to match Minor Threat and Bad Brains. (Dischord Records)

Re-pressed for the first time in over a decade, the debut full-length from DC's Scream is finally seeing the light again on vinyl. This LP, produced by Ian MacKaye and Eddie Janney of Faith shows the band's advanced musicianship and rock and roll sensibility while still maintaining the speed and punk fury that characterized the early '80s DC bands. Not a lot of bands come from Boise, Idaho, however even if Septic Death were the only band to emerge from there, it should put the city on the map as birthing something great. The band was formed by late 70s/ early 80s California skate regular Brian Pushead Schroeder, who had already made a bit of a name in the underground hardcore/ punk scene not only as a skater, but as an artist. He began sending his art to bands and ‘zines in the early ’80s, and many of them chose to use it. Later he became the main artist for Zorlac Skateboards, designing the artwork for a special edition Metallica skateboard. The band soon used him to design art and t-shirts for them, which propelled him to even larger fame. At this point he has done art for tons of bands both big and small, and his unmistakable gruesome and original artwork and attention to detail was first brought into full bloom in the service of Septic Death. Now That I Have the Attention What Do I Do With It? (which came out in early ’86) is not actually an album proper, but a re-issue of the band’s first 12″ep Need So Much Attention… Acceptance Of Whom mixed with some compilation tracks and some new songs. Side A features 3 tracks from the 12″ep that have added guitars and re-recorded vocals, as well as songs from compilations such as Peace/War, Cleanse The Bacteria, and the Putrid Evil flexi (some re-recorded). Side B features the other 9 songs from the 12″ep in their original versions. Many bands, from Metallica to Integrity have heralded the brilliance of Septic Death (James Hetfield even did vocals on their follow-up 7″ep Burial, and Kirk Hammett played mead guitar on a song on their Kichigai 7″ep). If you like hardcore, thrash, crust, or extreme metal and you haven’t checked this album out, do yourself a favours and listen to it now. Track list: 1. Quit 2. Dream Silent 3. Child 4. Burial 5. Terrorain 6. Thaw (Cold World) 7. Poison Mask 8. Hardware 9. Silence 10. Sweat Of A Nightmare 11. Core Of Reality 12. Negative Threat 13. Never Trust 14. Mental Cancer 15. Fear 16. Advantage 17. Control 18. Gore Story (Hardo De Todo Records/Unofficial Release)

Finally re issued, classic 1980's Norwegian hardcore. At a time when most American bands were going metal, this band turned hardcore inwards for a heavier and darker sound that has been a big influence on crust and especially Norwegian hardcore since. Songs are tight, powerful and you can tell these guys were really top players, so controlled and precise, but raging. The LP of the Oslo band originally came out in 1987 on X-Port Plater. The re-release looks like the original but the front cover is black and white as the original artwork was colored afterwards. The lyric sheet is exactly like the original. (Norwegian Leather Records)

Limited edition blue vinyl pressing of the 1985 debut album by politically-charged punk rockers, Social Unrest! This is considered a seminal album in the Bay Area hardcore punk scene and comes packaged with a printed sleeve containing all the album’s lyrics! "Part of the lively Northern California punk rock scene of the '80s, Social Unrest were a hardcore outfit whose abundant energy and defiant anti-authoritarian stance set a standard followed by many of their peers. Social Unrest were formed in Hayward, California in 1980, with the initial lineup featuring Creetin K-os on vocals, Doug Logic and Danny Norwood on guitars, John Vollick on bass, and Mark Monti on drums. After making a name for themselves with their hard-hitting live shows, they released their first EP in 1981, a three-song 7" titled Making Room for Youth that was produced by East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys. The 7" was released by local indie label Infrared Records, while Social Unrest's next recording project would be released on their own Libertine Records imprint, the 12" EP Rat in a Maze, which was also produced by East Bay Ray. The band toured in support of the release, and also contributed the song "Their Mistakes" to the influential hardcore compilation Not So Quiet on the Western Front, which was compiled by the punk fanzine Maximum Rock N Roll in association with Alternative Tentacles Records. By the time Social Unrest released their first full-length album, 1985's SU-2000, the group had a new lineup; K-os, Logic, and Vollick were out, and vocalist Jason Honea, guitarist James Brogan, and bassist Ray Moses Vegas were in. A second album followed in 1986, Before the Fall, which was released by Libertine Records in the United States, while Konkurrel picked it up for distribution in Europe. Social Unrest launched another American tour after the album's release, and played Europe for the first time in 1987; that same year, they also appeared on the anti-apartheid benefit compilation Viva Umkhonto. In 1988, the band dropped album number three, Now and Forever, which introduced new bassist Ron Isa and included a guest appearance from original vocalist Creetin K-os. Ironically, Now and Forever proved to be the final studio album from Social Unrest's original run; the band broke up by the end of 1988, with the live album Mental Breakdown (recorded at a 1987 concert in Wolfsburg, Germany) issued as a farewell gesture." Jason Honea moved to Germany to pursue his education, and he formed a new band, Happy After Ever. Meanwhile, James Brogan joined the Bay Area pop-punk outfit Samiam. In 1995, Social Unrest's recorded catalog was reissued on a pair of compilations from New Red Archives, Complete Studio Recordings, Vol. 1 and Complete Studio Recordings, Vol. 2. In 1996, Danny Norwood and Mark Monti reunited Social Unrest, recording a new studio album, New Lows, which featured Creetin K-os and Jason Honea taking turns on bass and vocals, and was produced by Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. The group played occasional live shows, and released a 7" vinyl EP titled Social Unrest in 2009, with another 7", Songs for Sinners, following in 2010. In 2017, Social Unrest and New Red Archives teamed up to release a new vinyl edition of Before the Fall. (New Red Archives Records)

Out of stockClassic piece of Norwegian hardcore punk, originally released by X-port Plater in 1984. This is one of the best european HC records and although I don’t spin the only EP by Norway’s SVART FRAMTID twice a week anymore (like I used to do), it’s still got a lot of charme. Just read the lyrics to the song “Religios Terror” and almost felt a bit nostalgic: Seems like songs against religion these days would rather be directed against those Taliban, Hamas and El-Qaida creeps. Best song is “Disipline” – a minor classic, followed by “17 Milliarder” which has some intersting guitar bits towards the end. A couple of years ago, the prices for all X-Port Plater releases were exorbitantly high and I always wondered what the cause for the short-lived hype was. Even a bootleg LP that compiled them EPs went for a ridiculous amount of money. The cover is actually a pretty posh foldout thing, but I’m too lazy (hungover, to be frank) to get the entire thing scanned. (Voltage Records)

Blazing away with the Necros and the Meatmen, The Fix is part of the foundation of what would become Touch And Go. (GI) is the debut and only studio album by American punk rock band the Germs recorded in 1978 and released in 1979. Often considered the first hardcore punk album. One of the leading bands of the ’70s Los Angeles punk scene, the Germs (Darby Crash, Pat Smear, Lorna Doom, and Don Bolles) only released one studio album before the untimely death of lead singer Crash at the age of 22. Equal parts Sex Pistols and Iggy Pop, the band’s legendary live shows bordered on chaos, with Crash having a tendency to cover himself with whatever food was located nearby while diving into the crowd whenever possible. The lone album the band did manage to record, (GI), was produced by Joan Jett and features 16 tracks of unbridled garage-punk bliss. (Fan Club/Unofficial)

Out of stockClassic Second LP "Ni Måste Bort!" translates loosely to "You've gotta go!" , Totalitar mark racist, sexist and capitalist modes of thought, dysfunctional politicians and useless media, cynicism and the dull mechanical wearing on people's lives on the "To go" list! A Frenzied wall of guitar driven thrash with gutteral shouts and pulverizing drums, Totalitar's sound was cut from the influence of classic D-beat and Swedish hardcore, but with time has become one of the genre's cornerstones. Ni Måste Bort! was originally released on Sweden's FINN records label in the mid 1990's, and reissued originally by Prank in the early 2000's. This is is it's first re-release in almost two decades, from the original mother plates but brightened with new plating and pressing art RTI. The re- imagined cover art by John Yates at Stealworks (Allied Records, Punchline magazine) has been augmented with Metallic ink printing on a Stoughton Tip On Sleeve. (Prank Records)

The band's third album was originally released on T-Reason Records in 1985 and had a darker post-punk approach. Slick production assists these catchy melancholic tunes, lovingly remastered by Dan G Foote. Recorded just after the band lost a lead singer, but picked up Zero Boys bassist Tufty, 'Within These Walls' meant vocals, haunting guitars, driven bass and drums... and something that Toxic Reasons did very well... write good memorable songs! Start with “Then Came The Rain” and journey through to the end of the album, then start again! Label: Audio Platter – PLATE080CD Barcode: 803341567801

Originally released on Riot City Records in 1983 and quickly becoming one of the label's most highly sought after releases, Ultra-Violent recorded just one single before breaking up when vocalist Adie went on to front the Metal incarnation of the English Dogs. Three songs of blistering UK82, and quite possibly the best record in the genre. Finally reissued in it's original format, with original copies regularly selling for £70+ online. An excruciating amount of thought and love has been poured into this release to make it the best reissue it could be. The accompanying insert also features reprints of original fanzine coverage, several previously unpublished photographs and also for the first time, a lyric sheet. Remastered at North London Bomb Factory by Daniel Husayn. (Mad Butcher Records)

UPRIGHT CITIZENS from the Ruhr area are one of the most important, most independent and probably most international 80s hardcore punk bands in Germany! In 1982 their debut “Bombs Of Peace” was released as a mini-LP. An absolute classic consisting of 9 tracks that already swept everything away back then, here hit after hit. Popular hits like “Fuck The Army”, “Neo-Nazis in the BRG”, the title song “Bombs Of Peace” or the unbelievably good cover version of the CRISIS classic: “Holocaust” are songs that burn in after hearing them once and you never do forgets again. Together with the second LP "Make The Future Mine & Yours", the repress of the debut album by H'Art was re-released as a double LP in the 80s and by Rude Records in the early 90s. Due to its rarity, the original is nowadays traded at horrific prices. Not enough that these great songs are available again on vinyl, this re-release appears in the original format as a mini-LP on a 140g vinyl + special A1 poster and all of this is hand-numbered. Out of stockIn the 80s UPRIGHT CITIZENS were above all the international hardcore punk band from the West Germany. The first line-up consisted of Anton (vocals, guitar), Uli (guitar), Crocker (bass) and Mario (drums). The mainly English lyrics and their American sound were very distinctive, which made the band internationally known. In 1985 they were the first German punk band to tour across the United States for six weeks. In addition to various publications, they earned the reputation of a terrific live act, which they also proved as the opening act for punk greats such as DEAD KENNEDYS, UK SUBS, DOA, BAD RELIGION and many others. CD Digipak with a 20-page booklet containing all texts, lots of unpublished photos and liner notes. The second album "Make The Future Mine & Yours" from 1983 is a classic. PNV continues to unearth, and release must have albums from the now legendary New York hardcore Scene of the early and mid-80s. This compilation compiles their rare and pricey debut 7” EP from 1983 along with rare demo tracks and unreleased live tracks. Urban Waste was a juggernaut of NYC Hardcore, hailing from Queens. Classic and legendary international HC comp put out by Pushead (who of course did the artwork and included his own band Septic Death) in 1985. "Cleanse the Bacteria (in Spanish , "Clean bacteria") is a compilation album of hardcore punk groupspublished in 1985 by the Pusmort Records label and compiled by the graphic artist Pushead (owner of Pusmort and singer of Septic Death ), whose drawings illustrate the album cover. It is a compilation that has acquired the category of cult album. In it, several pioneering bands of hardcore punk and grindcore appear , such as Siege (of whom this is their only official reference). The album features Pushead artwork on the cover and was the label's second release (Pusmort reference 0012-02). The first run came with a free maxi single (Pusmort 0012-03), with more songs from some of the groups on the compilation. Although several of the groups included are of American origin , the majority come from different countries, which makes the album one of the first international hardcore compilations (after Welcome to 1984 , World class punk , PEACE and a few others). Along with the North Americans ( 7 Seconds , the aforementioned Siege , Corrosion of Conformity , Poison Idea and Pushead's Septic Death ), there are the Australians Civil Dissident , the English Instigators and Part 1 (a group ofdarkwave related to Rudimentary Peni ), the Swedes Crude SS and Mob 47 , the Norwegians Akutt Innleggelse , the Japanese Execute , the Dutch Genocide Express (ex Agent Orange ), the Germans Inferno , the Danish Enola Gay , the Finnish Holy Dolls (ex Riistetyt ), the Belgians Zyklome A and the Austrians Extrem."
