Finally a vinyl release of their 1990 CD-only album with previously unreleased tracks on vinyl! Final Descent is an album by Samhain, first released in 1990, more than three years after lead singer Glenn Danzig and bassist Eerie Von had recruited guitarist John Christ and drummer Chuck Biscuits to form Danzig. Tracks 1-5 are previously unreleased songs, at least some of which had been intended for the Samhain Grim album before it was aborted when the band changed its personnel, and finally its name, to Danzig. Tracks 6-11 had been released in 1987 on the first pressing of the Initium CD. These songs were in fact overdubbed (partially re-recorded) and remixed versions of those on the 1985 Unholy Passion E.P. Eerie Von has confirmed that "Death...In Its Arms" was recorded during the sessions for Danzig's second album, Danzig II: Lucifuge, and features the full original Danzig lineup: singer Glenn Danzig, guitarist John Christ, bassist Eerie Von, and drummer Chuck Biscuits. Like all of Samhain's discography, and most of Danzig's prior work with the Misfits, Final Descent was originally released on Danzig's independent record label Plan 9, distributed by Caroline Records. Apart from the band's reissues in 2000-01, this is the only Samhain release that does not have a 12" vinyl counterpart. Glenn Danzig said that some vinyl sleeves were made, but further plans to release the album on vinyl in 1990 were scrapped because he was not pleased with them. (Fan Club Release)

  • Cheltenham’s Horror Punk/Death Rockers The Screaming Dead, whose name is drawn from the English title of the 1972 horror film “Dracula contra Frankenstein” is one of the few bands that managed to authentically straddle the line between punk and gothic / goth rock in the early 80s. Like The Damned, the band’s oeuvre includes purist three chord punk alongside more nuanced gothic rock pieces. And similar to kindred souls in bands like The Dark and Siekiera, Screaming Dead’s early aggressive approach gave way, later in their career, to a more measured and atmospheric gothic sound. Songs like "Valley Of The Dead" or "Warcry", which still sound very originally like punk rock, already have a dark melancholy in them that foreshadows darker things. With "Night Creatures" or "20th Century Vampire" they have succeeded in creating absolute masterpieces, these songs take you into the night and leave you there. Towards the end, saxophone and organ come into play, it gets poppier, but also more dramatic, but remains darkly melancholic. There's a dirty undertone running through every song, which gives the overall work that extra punk touch. Screaming Dead from have created a new, very own sound. Reissue of the compilation from 1993, first time on vinyl. This record comes with an additional CD what complains 5 more songs. This compilation is a cross-section of the band's creative phase from 1982 - 1984. Recorded in 1981, this classic album took the band further down the road of despair, initiated with Seventeen Seconds, with an album full of mournful atmospheric tracks, including their hit single, "Primary". "Robert Smith has expressed his appreciation for the music of Joy Division and I would say that this album, Faith, is The Cure's Closer -- dark, monotone, toy drumming with layers of anguish and compelling lyrics. 'The Funeral Party' is like Joy Division's 'Eternal' -- dealing with loss in an effective, but original way. I compare The Cure's Faith album to Joy Division's Closer only to express how well I feel Robert Smith managed to make an effective album -- this is original, unique and beautiful music." 1982's The Sky's Gone Out marks a stylistic midpoint in Bauhaus brief but spectacular career. The group released its first single in 1979 and disbanded in mid-1983. In comparison with their earlier, almost impenetrably convoluted literary references and effectively murky production, this album is lyrically more direct, musically more straightforward, and features vastly cleaner production. The first of these changes is exemplified in the album's second track, Silent Hedges, with its "going to hell again" chorus and in the bitter 'all we ever wanted was everything, all we ever got was cold' from All We Ever Wanted Was Everything. Daniel Ash's guitar work has finally become part of the structure of the songs as opposed to an ornamental splash used for emphasis. The music is less harsh - almost inviting the listener in before the slicing lyrics drop like poised blades. production-wise, the sound is no longer as cacophonously dense. such tracks as Spirit feature dueling guitars, rumbling drums, and a harpsichord, all clearly separated - at least until the intentional crush of the song's end. Unholy Passion is the second release by Samhain, Glenn Danzig's band after the disbanding of the Misfits. In 1987 Danzig re-recorded the guitar and some vocal tracks for the songs, removing the original work done by Pete "Damien" Marshall. The recordings were given new mixes and, with the addition of "Misery Tomb", were released as part of Final Descent in 1990. The remixed versions were released as a standalone CD for the first time as part of the Samhain Box Set in 1999 and as an individual CD in 2000. The original 12" vinyl EP was pressed twice: once on black vinyl and the classic tan cover, and then again in 1986, on both red and black vinyl (with a maroon sleeve), and white vinyl (with tan cover). According to Eerie Von in his photographic book Misery Obscura the album was “a departure from our first release: more underground, more tribal. A step back further into the darkness”. (Plan 9 Records/Unofficial Release)
  • Through 1980 the Damned spent some 1078 hours in the studio recording / mixing and this 25th anniversary edition of THE BLACK ALBUM contains all of the released material during that year plus one previously unissued mix. The Black Album was the band’s rural album and their most psychedelic. Initially there were sessions in February and March at Wessex where MGE had been cut. Captain had come up with Rabid (Over You) as a contender for the next single and though a cracking good song and certainly commercial enough, the title was a non starter as far as mainstream radio play was concerned at the time. As Smash It Up had been regarded as an incitement to riot by Radio Wonderful lord knows what they would have made of Rabid. So a cover version was picked in the shape of the Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit and this was cut at the Wessex sessions along with Rabid (Over You). Anthony More was initially in charge of the Rabid session and brought along his synth box of tricks. However he didn’t quite manage to make it to the end of the session, though eventually contributed a lot to the record’s sound. Meanwhile I was cutting Rabbit and Rat was working on a very out there version of the 50s classic Chantilly Lace that was to come out under the moniker Edgar Tempest and the Wild Rockers. All three of these sides were finished and a single was scheduled with White Rabbit backed with’ Rabid (Over You) and the elegiac into mayhem guitar piece from the Captain called Seagulls. It got as far as test pressing stage at EMI and then the band went off it, though it did see the light of day in France and Germany, making its way into the U.K. on import. Chantilly Lace didn’t make it to the starting block. So, single-less, time was booked at Rockfield for May /June to record the bulk of the Black Album. Early takes of History of the World Part 1 and Curtain Call had been cut at Wessex and even a basic acoustic track for Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde. (Ace – WIK2 334/2016)

Luna - Nestvarne Stvari LP is officially reissued for the first time ever after 36 years! What we have here is a cult Yugoslavian post punk album made by short-lived Luna, a band from Novi Sad that included members of Pekinška Patka. Mandatory! "During the late 1981, former Pekinška Patka members Zoran Bulatović "Bale" (guitar) and Marinko Vukomanović "Mare" (bass guitar) with former La Strada members Slobodan Tišma (vocals) and Ivan Fece "Firchie" (drums) joined together and formed LUNA. Since the band members were already well-known, the formation of the band caused great interest in the public. The band started writing new material, with Bulatović being responsible for the music writing, while Tišma was the band's lyricist. A few days before the band's first public appearance, Vukomanović had left the band, forming his own pop group Primavera, and was replaced by Jasmina Mitrušić "Mina" (keyboards, vocals). The first appearance the band made in March 1982, in Vienna Arena on the "Novosadski novi talas festival". After the festival, Luna started performing at numerous Novi Sad and Belgrade venues, establishing itself a cult status. In Radio Novi Sad studios, the band recorded their first demo, with "Ogledalo Lune" being the most notable track, becoming a local hit. Soon after, the band went on a Croatian and Slovenian tour during which, after the Kopar concert, the band met Marko Brecelj, a former Buldožer member, who took their demo recordings to his former band-mate Boris Bele, one of the head of the Helidon record label. Having returned from the tour, the band entered the Aquarius Studio in Belgrade, where, with the help of sound engineer Đorđe Petrović and producer Saša Habić recorded their debut album. However, by the time their first and only studio album, "Nestvarne stvari", had been released, on early 1984 by Helidon, due to a conflict between Bulatović and Tišma, the band had already disbanded. After the album release, the Rock magazine voted the album the seventh best album of the year 1984, and the band also got the award "Sedam Sektetara SKOJ-a" in Zagreb. Tišma and Mitrušić reformed La Strada, Bulatović went to serve the Yugoslav People's Army and Fece joined Ekatarina Velika and later moved to the United States. Together with Bulatović, former Električni Orgazam keyboard player Ljubomir Đukić and Igra Staklenih Perli bassist Draško Nikodijević "Dracula" he formed a supergroup "Collateral Damage", but the band did not release any material. Meanwhile, Fece was also the member of Jakarta, which disbanded in 1986. Mitrušić finished the Musical Academy studies and moved to Italy. After La Strada disbanded, Tišma quit his musical career and released two poetry books." (Šareni Dućan Records /Blind Dog Records Records)

  • THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP ON/OR AROUND MARCH, THANKS! “Gothics” - a time before the word goth had even taken shape - believed in the do-it-yourself punk ethos that anyone could pick up an instrument. Gray clouds were starting to form and in the unlikely city of Hamburg, a brazen and haunting gang of five women formed Xmal Deutschland. As any true punk would, Xmal Deutschland’s members Caro May, Rita Simon, Manuela Rickers, Fiona Sangster and Anja Huwe, started the band despite any previous musical experience. The “Schwarze Welt” seven-inch was released on the local punk label, ZickZack, in 1981 and introduced the band as an unsettling swarm of intensity. There’s an urgency in its repetitive dirge, a swirling mania that persists on the b-side with “Die Wolken” and “Großstadtindianer” whose crude synthesizer noises escalate in tension. Most of all, Huwe’s uniquely venomous German vocals quickly became embedded in the unbridled and burgeoning scene of glamorous gloom. Punk’s independence from the stiff grip of tradition allowed the band to find solace in anti-establishment art and music, far from the conventions of the past. With their peacocked hair and thick kohl-lined eyes, Xmal Deutschland’s music retained both a restlessness and delicacy, transcending any confines of the “Neue Deutsche Welle” movement (much like their colleagues and friends DAF and Einstürzende Neubauten) with the release of the “Incubus Succubus” single in 1982. It instantly became a post-punk classic. The guitar’s buzz ransacks through the melody as the ghoulish primitiveness of Huwe’s voice teases that maybe, just maybe, she is the nightmarish creature of which to be aware. The b-sides, “Zu Jung Zu Alt” and “Blut Ist Liebe,” keep strict militaristic dance beats as they teem in agitation. That same year, the band performed in London as support for the Cocteau Twins; it was the platform they needed to ricochet into the arms of the ripped fishnet masses. Early Singles (1981-1982), is a map of the foundational movements of Xmal Deutschland, just seconds before takeoff. Bonus tracks on the compilation, “Kaellbermarsch” and a gritty live version of “Allein,” further accentuate their fusion of toughness with the quixotic decadence of atmospheric synthesizers. The band’s pursuit of something greater is palpable with this release, a reflection of a time that introduced accessibility to new means of making music following the onset of punk. Inspired by the frigid and inhospitable environment encountered in their native Novosibirsk, Siberia, the band weaves the stark atmosphere of the 1980s Soviet era with the emotionally detached post-punk and rock genres. Ploho emerged as a household name in their native Russia, and has built up a dedicated fanbase in Europe and abroad. The band was formed by singer and guitarist Victor Uzhakov in 2013, who tapped Andrei Smorgonsky on bass and Igor Starshinov on synths. The threesome are one of the most prominent purveyors of the newly dubbed “new wave of Russian music,” also known as “Russian Doomer,” creating a dark and captivating blend of rock, post-punk, and new wave. The new album, When the soul sleeps, is the band’s best, combining indie rock with dark post-punk, with the marvellous vocals and lyrics from frontman Victor Uzhakov.
