THIS IS A PRE-ORDER! YOUR ORDER WILL SHIP ON OR AROUND LATE OCTOBER/EARLY NOVEMBER, THANKS! SILENCE IS NO REACTION: FORTY YEARS OF SUBHUMANS is the definitive history of one of the best punk bands of all time. It's been a long time in the making but with over 640 packed pages it's well worth it and you can order this great book now! Formed in Wiltshire, England, in 1980, the Subhumans are rightly held in high regard as one of the best punk rock bands to ever hail from the UK. Over the course of five timeless studio albums and just as many classic EPs, not to mention well over 1000 gigs around the world, they have blended serious anarcho punk with a demented sense of humour and genuinely memorable tunes to create something quite unique and utterly compelling. For the first time ever, here’s their whole story, straight from the recollections of every band member past and present, and a dizzying array of their closest friends and peers, with not a single stone left unturned. Bolstered with hundreds of flyers and exclusive photos, the complete discography, a full gigography, and more, this book is the definitive account of a much-loved band. Ian Glasper is the critically acclaimed author of several best-selling books on the underground UK punk scene, not least of all Burning Britain: The History of UK Punk 1980-1984 and The Day the Country Died: A History of Anarcho Punk 1980-1984. But this is the first book he’s ever written about just one band. And there isn’t another band he would rather have written about more. The book is jointly published by PM Press and Earth Island Books. Praise for the Subhumans... Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway (Napalm Death): “I must admit that Subhumans came to me as a bit of a secondary tip. During the formative years of getting my head around Conflict and suchlike, somebody, somewhere in Birmingham gave me a tape of ‘The Day The Country Died’. It wasn’t just another band gnashing teeth and chucking around the awkward rudiments of sonic anarchism; it had a certain lightness of touch to the song-writing in quite a few places. I know that might sound a bit improbable considering the necessary thrust of anti-establishment bands at the time, but it was neat to hear some considered twists and turns in the sound. Today, it’s simply timeless stuff and, for what it’s worth, Napalm Death did our own homage T-shirt to that classic album cover. Lovely stuff.” Sean Forbes (Hard Skin): “Subhumans have integrity in spades, and you can’t buy that. They were important then, and are important now.” Ruth Elias (Hagar The Womb): “Subhumans are special both on and off stage. You come away from seeing them feeling like you've been through the wringer, even if you've just observed them from the back. It's the passion that’s evident onstage, with those beautifully constructed lyrics spat out with every breath - and that charged energy they generate, that sweeps through the crowd and leaves us feeling changed.” Chris Knowles (Hagar The Womb): “Subhumans retain an innate integrity that very few other bands can claim, and that to me is their most special quality. They play all the festivals, small gigs, underground events, and never tried to ‘go bigger’ or change their sound to get more in tune with whatever else is out there. That is punk, and that ethos is the one I get up with every day still, and they epitomise that more than any other band on the planet.” Peter Jones (Paranoid Visions): “They are the ultimate punk band with the most well-rounded, genuine, inclusive, informative, non-cliched, approachable and friendly attitude of any band I’ve ever met. Add to that they are a spectacular band with amazing music… tight and edgy as fuck, and so professional, it’s a joy to watch.” Stew Summers (Shrapnel): “The Subhumans were special because, along with the likes of Magazine, The Ruts and Crass, they wrote – and still write - great music, which really stands the test of time. And, as a lyricist, Dick is up there with the best of them.” Andy ‘Tez’ Turner (Instigators): “Subhumans were and still are great. They straddled the line between anarcho and what is now called ‘UK82’ without having to bow to anyone. And still do. ‘Religious Wars’ is as close to a perfect, dare I say it, ‘pop’ single as you’re going to get in the punk world.” Richard Newson (AKA Winston Smith – Sounds writer): “Their songs seem to exist out of time, somehow always relevant. And they've stuck to their guns – there’s this stubborn defiance in the face of fashion, and their glorious, unaffected honesty. All this helps explain why they've lasted so long." Mel Bell (A-Heads): “All their songs are catchy, for a start. They are so energetic too, such good musicians. Every gig I’ve ever seen them do was brilliant – and still is. I will never tire of seeing Subhumans; even when they have an ‘off night’, they’re still really good.” Stu Pid (Police Bastard/Sensa Yuma/Contempt): “They’re one of my favourite bands in the world, but a band is only as good as the people in it... and the Subhumans are the real deal.” Chris Boarts Larson (Slug & Lettuce fanzine): “They’re real people, doing a thing they love. The songs are catchy yet diverse, thoughtful and thought-provoking. They have something to say that is universal and relatable, and just as poignant today as in 1985…” Publisher : Earth Island Books (28 Aug. 2023) Language : English Paperback : 634 pages ISBN-10 : 9781629635507 ISBN-13 : 978-1739647759 Dimensions : 15.6 x 4.37 x 23.39 cm

Sensing the emollient rattle of punk was an artistic dead end, The Clash took an abrupt volte-face and invited American Sandy Pearlman to produce their second album. Respected for his work with blue oyster cult and the dictators, Pearlman introduced a sheen that disturbed purists but introduced The Clash to a wider audience. The clear sound brought a new emphasis to the quartet's internal interplay and allowed the material to stand up in its own right. 1978's 'Give 'em enough rope' contains several of the band's most popular songs, which range from the defiant 'Tommy gun' to the sensitive 'stay free,' a contrast confirming The Clash's wider musical ambitions. A No.1 Indie chart topper when originally released in 1981, this was a 10 track mini LP first issued by collectable Clay Records. We’ve added 14 bonus including the Indie Chart hit singles ‘Realities Of War’ (No.5, 44 weeks), ‘Fight Back’ (No.4, 46 weeks) and ‘Decontrol’ (No.2, 44 weeks) to what has already been generally acclaimed as THE UK Hardcore Punk record. The influence this album and Discharge have had on the world-wide Punk movement is impossible to measure – they started a whole genre of “Discore” bands and have been covered by so many Punk and Metal bands (Metallica, Sepultura, Machine Head, Soulfly and Anthrax to name a few) – Punk Rock does not get rawer then this! Formed in 1976, legendary punk outfit Chelsea was assembled by the owners of the Acme Attractions boutique with Gene October as frontman; guitarist Billy Idol, bassist Tony James and drummer John Towe soon split to form Generation X, but their loss was Chelsea’s gain, with debut single ‘Right To Work’ rated one of the best punk songs of all time. Though their self-titled debut LP didn’t surface until 1979, when punk was waning, there is plenty to savour in October’s forceful vocals and James Stevenson’s powerful guitar licks, plus a plausible take of Jimmy Cliff’s ‘Many Rivers To Cross.’ A punk classic, ripe for rediscovery! Hailing from the Los Angeles suburb of Cerritos, Channel 3 was a pioneering member of the Southern California hardcore scene. The band's first full length LP, 1982's Fear Of Life (released in the UK as I've Got A Gun on No Future) was an immediate classic and the band soon began playing to large crowds at home and abroad and even enjoyed some chart success. On the wave of this overnight popularity came their second LP, 1983's After The Lights Go Out - further solidifying their unique sound and making its indelible mark on hardcore history. -Faithful, yet updated rendering of original artwork -Limited Edition of 1,000 150 Gram black vinyl manufactured for pristine sound by Quality Record Pressing -Mastered for vinyl by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio Label: Drastic Plastic Records Barcode: 855971005574

Never Mind the Bollocks perfectly articulated the frustration, rage, and dissatisfaction of the British working class with the establishment, a spirit quick to translate itself to strictly rock & roll terms. The Pistols paved the way for countless other bands to make similarly rebellious statements, but arguably none were as daring or effective. It's easy to see how the band's roaring energy, overwhelmingly snotty attitude, and Rotten's furious ranting sparked a musical revolution, and those qualities haven't diminished one bit over time. Never Mind the Bollocks is simply one of the greatest, most inspiring rock records of all time. Part of the 'Back To Black' series of releases of classic albums. The astounding debut album that established the SUBHUMANS as a genuine force to be reckoned with, The Day The Country Died, captured both the band’s serious anarcho-punk ideology and their irreverent sense of humour. It was apparent from the off that here was a band that could not only stimulate your brain but also put a big shit-eating grin on your face as you jumped about to them. And the now-iconic artwork by Nick Lant—probably his most recognisable piece of work for the band—has adorned countless thousands of jackets and t-shirts since. Recorded over just four days during the heady summer of 1982 and released six months later in January 1983, when it quickly climbed to No. 3 in the UK’s then-important independent charts. This exhilarating collection of songs has endured for four decades with the band still regularly kicking their live set off with the opening track “All Gone Dead”. As a staple of the punk scene, ALL of the SUBHUMANS records are still in high demand, and this long-overdue repress of this album couldn’t be coming at a better time. SUBHUMANS are one of the most influential bands from the UK, anarcho-punk scene of the ’80s, filed right alongside CRASS and CONFLICT, and just as relevant today as they were during the darkest days of Thatcher’s Britain. Take your choice in how to label them—punk, UK82, crusty, etc.—therein lies the attraction and consequent reason for their popularity, the band epitomizes non-conformity and connects with people in many different scenes. This album is an essential piece of history in the world of punk that SUBHUMANS helped create. Black Vinyl. (Pirate Press Records)

Another Disorder album loaded with classic, raw, pissed-off, belligerent, '80s, UK punk. (Puke N Vomit Records)

Hailing from Antwerp, Belgium, The Kids formed in 1976 to prove to the world that punk was more than just a London vs New York fashion contest. This is pure and quintessential punk rock. The second release on Radiation Deluxe Series, this classic punk LP is reissued on 180-gram vinyl in a deluxe 350-gram cardboard sleeve. The album features Indie Charting singles ‘Zombie Creeping Flesh’ (No.2), ‘Blown Out Again’ (No.40) and ‘Wimpeez’ (No.8). One of the funniest and most endearing UK Punk bands PATTTB is still touring and playing big punk festivals all over the world. Out of stockPNV Records reissue of the debut album by the Anti-Nowhere League, originally issued on WXYZ Records in 1982! Despite the obnoxious band’s reputation and the legal persecution that the group faced due to its obscene lyrics, the album remained No1 for many weeks in the independent charts and it became from its release day an instant UK Punk Rock Classic! Loaded with more piss and vinegar than one can almost handle in a single album, this is what most people think of when they think of classic Punk, the kind of Punk that frightened the squares, and parents and annoyed the authorities. The kind of album that throw on at a party and the house is sure to be destroyed by nights end. Label: Puke n Vomit

Out of stockA 44-track 2CD set covering every A and B-side issued by Punk legends Angelic Upstarts between 1978-85. Running in chronological order, it starts with the self released ‘The Murder Of Liddle Towers’ and is followed by the major label debut of ‘I’m An Upstart’ which hit No.31 in the UK charts. ‘Teenage Warning’ then hit No.29 and saw the band in the nation’s living rooms via their appearance on Top Of The Pops. A hat-trick of hits was completed when ‘Never ‘Ad Nothin’ hit No.52 in late 1979. The band moved into the 1980s with hits like ‘Out Of Control’ (No.58), ‘We Gotta Get Out Of This Place’ (No.58 and incredibly appearing here on CD for the first time in its original 7” version), ‘Last Night Another Soldier’ (No.65) and ‘Kids On The Street’ (No.57) before they switched to (then) newly established Independent label Anagram Records. The hits kept coming though: ‘Woman In Disguise’ reached No.18 in the Independent Chart, swiftly followed by a No.24 for ‘Solidarity’. Despite numerous disruptive line-up changes vocalist Mensi remained a constant throughout and achieved further notoriety with the No.14 ‘Machine Gun Kelly’ and the No.4 ‘Brighton Bomb’. Each of the 17 singles featured has a detailed history included in the booklet which is illustrated by the original sleeves. Out of stockYes it’s an official repressing of the debut album Cycledelic from JOHNNY MOPED following on from their new album It’s A Real Cool Baby which came out earlier in the year to critical acclaim. Cycledelic was originally released in April 1978. Apparently a nightmare to record – by this stage, Johnny was practically under house arrest after the group’s van had run over Brenda’s mother (not fatally!), causing her to finally loose patience with whole scenario. In order to get Johnny to the studio on time, the others met him from work, spun some tale of needing a group meeting in some spurious café or other and promptly drove him all the way to the studio non-stop. The vocals were thus laid down in one day. A “Mystery Track” was added to the LP later at Roger Armstrong’s (Chiswick Boss) bequest. Johnny did the vocals for this cut over the phone. The “Mystery Track” eventually appeared on the LP in the same place as “VD Boiler” as a piece of concentric tracking (ie. you got one cut or the other depending where you placed the stylus.) Revolutionary! The rest of the LP was made up of live cuts recorded at The Roundhouse. Obviously, Johnny nearly didn’t turn up then either. The group had set up & sound-checked only to find Johnny queuing up outside the venue to pay to get into his own gig, with 15 minutes to go to show time Described by Jon Savage in his book ‘England’s Dreaming’ as "certainly one of the more curious albums to emerge from the first wave of UK punk”. He went on … “Cycledelic, is the lone full-length album from Johnny Moped (which in the grand tradition of Alice Cooper was the name of both the band and its lead singer). Moped was a clumsy singer even by the standards of early British punk, given to moaning and gurgling when he couldn't think of something to say, and guitarist Slimy Toad had chops and wasn't afraid to show them, so some of the longer songs like "Maniac" and "3D Time" veer off into what sounds like a thug's version of prog rock. And even when the band did tear into something short, fast, and loud, they sounded like '60s pop gone mad on speed; Cycledelic may be one of the only albums from punk's first wave that displays almost no audible Ramones influence. But if the Mopeds were following a path all their own, they were clearly having a lot of fun doing it; the falsetto piss-take of Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie" serves as parody and tribute at once, "Darling, Let's Have Another Baby" is a wicked send-up of UK pop at its most insipid, and "Hell Razor," "Wild Breed," and "Make Trouble" thrash about with glorious abandon. And in 1978, there was no a better count-off on record than "Incendiary Device"'s "One! Two! Cut your hair!!!” Johnny Moped was a little too odd to serve as a true Everykid, but the absurd brilliance of the best moments on Cycledelic are a shining example of the punk credo that anyone could do it -- and that sometimes amazing things could emerge from unexpected places.” Not all of the best punk-era bands were recorded, but through the farsightedness of Chiswick Records, Johnny Moped happily were. Thirty eight years (YES!) on, Cycledelic wears its dumb brilliance well. It’s also Captain Sensible's favourite album, which can’t be bad! (Chiswick Records – CDHP 029)

FINALLY!!! Re-released on vinyl after 40 years! "Disturbing Domestic Peace, The Ex's debut album, appeared mere months after their first single, 1980's All Corspes Smell The Same. Originally released on the band's own Verrecords (they made up different label names with each record), the LP falls squarely within a punk idiom and, at the same time, shows this influential Dutch group's restless energy. Terrie Ex's guitar serves up vectors of percussive pulse, fraying the edges of the music's squared-off rhythms. Vocalist G.W. Sok – an anarchist Dziga Vertov with a mic – observes, declaims and condemns across a set of interrelated political concerns that would return in Ex-music for years to come. While The Ex channel the poise and principled attack of Crass or Flux Of Pink Indians, they create a unique declamatory sound all their own – trailing brilliant flashes of color in the wake of punk's monochrome palette. Offering ten songs in only twenty-two minutes, Disturbing Domestic Peace lays bare a vivid snapshot of a truly singular band who (at the time) were just finding their feet." This first-time vinyl reissue comes with bonus 7-inch, inserts and 20-page booklet. LP Track Listing: The Sky Is Blue Again Map Outlook-Army Sucking Pig A Sense Of Tumour Meanwhile Rules Squatsong Warning-Shot New Wars Bonus 7-inch Track Listing: Introduction Human Car Punk Horse Terrie (guitar), G.W. FINALLY!!! Re-released on vinyl after almost 40 years! "Originally released in 1982, History Is What's Happening features one of the most harrowing title/cover art combinations in recent memory. What at first glance looks like a firing squad is, upon closer inspection, a concentration camp orchestra. On their second album, The Ex advance into a distinctly more post-punk style: textural guitar shards and tumbling motorik drumming with Bas Masbeck's thunderous bass shouldering much of the melodic load. Railing against political duplicity and the illusory nature of "freedom" in an age of manufactured consent, G.W. Sok offers some of punk's most bracing and memorable agitprop lyrics. These twenty songs are a quick-moving and caustic trip, a DIY studio rendition of the band's explosive live set from this era. History Is What's Happening remains an important signpost in the history of both Ex-evolution and the cataclysmic '80s. With their sophomore LP, the group would put Holland on the underground music map. Indeed, many now-lifelong fans around the world were just beginning to take notice and get down with the mighty Ex." This first-time vinyl reissue comes with 23" x 16" poster and 24-page booklet. Terrie (guitar), G.W. Sok (vocals), Bas (bass), Wim (drums). Recorded at Joke's Koeienverhuurbedrijf, Schellingwoude, Netherlands. Produced by Dolf Planteijdt. (The Ex Records/Superior Viaduct Records)

A pure shot of abrasive punk/rock 'n' roll with a hint of working class Oi!, Blitz were among the most influential punk bands ever. It was Gary Bushell (who wrote for "Sounds" and was later dubbed the God Father of Oi!) who brought the band to the attention of his friend Chris Berry, who had just set up No Future records with a bank loan and high hopes. No Future 001 catalog (and Blitz's debut release) was a 4 track EP titled "All Out Attack", a 20,000 copy bestseller that made the label's fortune, later to become the most representative of the whole UK82 movement. Its follow-up, "Never Surrender", reached number 2 in the Indie charts, while their 3rd EP, "Warriors", showed their slight move towards the singalong-style of classic OI!. Before shifting to a more new wave-influenced vein right by the end of 1983, they managed to reach number 2 in the charts with a fourth and last 'punk' single, "New Age". This 1980-1983 complete retrospective features all four aforementioned singles along with their very first recording session from 1980, the legendary 'Timebomb' demos, and 4 cuts from the "Voice Of A Generation" demos! The first, best and only Stiff Little Fingers album that you need. Released originally in 1979 as the first album ever on Rough Trade, it is harsh, brutal, primitive punk rock with sadly still relevant lyrics about the troubles in Northern Ireland. This stands head and shoulders above all other albums of the time. Their punk rock aesthetic is authentic, with raw lyricism and harsh instrumentation. Containing the anthemic track Alternative Ulster, Stiff Little Fingers promote the ‘grab it and change it’ narrative. Label: Parlophone Records Barcode: 190295448271

Michigan's Meatmen followed in the great tradition of the Circle Jerks and were the moronic, offensive, blasphemous, and hilarious face of early-'80s punk. 'Stud powercock' brings together all of the band's original eps, along with demos, live tracks, and a handful of out-takes, including the Jolson-esque demolition of sly stone's 'dance with the music.' here you'll find the Meatmen anthem 'crippled children suck' as well as a sensitive response to the murder of john lennon, '1 down 3 to go.' while their music may not appeal to every listener, the Meatmen are so over-the-top that it's hard not to laugh. Out of stockSeminal record for any punk in UK, China or whatever you live, fucker!!!! The Partisans were formed in Wales south in 1978 with the original line-up of Phil Staton-voice, Rob "Spike" Harrington-guitar and backing vocals, Andy Lealand-second guitar, Mark "Shark" Harris-drums and Mark "Savage" Parsons-bass. This line-up will change after one year as Parsons and Staton left the band and Rob took the voice position and entering Louise Wright as bass player. Basically influenced by Sex Pistols, The Clash and Ramones, The Partisans started to cover those bands and playing some own sounds too. On September 1981 they released their first 7" under the label No Future Records, a fantastic single that helped the band to tour with the likes of Blitz, The Ejected and Peter and the Test Tube Babies. On May 1982 they released their second 7" and when 1983 arrived the band's debut LP was out. This debut LP is one of the seminal steps on British punk for sure, a record that still sound fresh and strong after 3o years. (Puke n Vomit Records)

For the first time ever, the three Crisis singles are officially re-released on Vinyl along with demos from 77 and 78 and a simply stunning sounding live set from Norway in 1979. The debut 7" from 1978 on Action Group Records, 'No Town Hall' features three stonewall punk classics. The next two singles 'UK79' and 'Alienation' make up the four tracks recorded for a John Peel Session in 1978. The lyrics are a product of the time against a backdrop of street fights with the National Front, violence at gigs, institutional racism within the police force, class division, industrial strife, sexual repression… Upon reflection not much has really changed in the last 35 years! Also included are demo tracks from 1977 and 1978 which are raw and basic punk just as you would expect. They have never been officially released on vinyl before. Sides Three and Four features a live set recorded when Crisis played Norway in 1979 which features all of the material that later turned up on ‘Hymns Of Faith’. The sound quality of the recording is so good it would pass as a studio recording. The record comes housed in a tip on heavyweight sleeve with detailed liner notes, reviews, interviews, and a few unseen group photos. The sleeve picture taken in Kiev in 2012 couldn't be more relevant, capturing the Zeitgeist - which was part of what Punk was all about in the first place. Label: La Vida Es Un Mus Records

Out of stockThe third LP by Generation X’s original line-up, recorded in 1979 and unreleased until 1998. An essential piece in the discography of one of the original UK punk bands. 180g vinyl. In early 1979 Generation X went to the English countryside to write and ‘routine’ the band’s third album. We felt we had a new sound, simple songs delivered with more space than most rock’n’roll, so we went into Olympic Studios in Barnes, London and began recording with the house engineer, Doug Bennett, as co-producer. Most of the songs were recorded before our tour of Japan in June ’79. On our return Billy came into the studio with an outline of a song called ‘Dancing With Myself’. We went to work on it and pretty much finished it quickly and we felt it was the song to lead the album, a single I guess… Then I left the band at the end of the year and carried the fuckin’ stack of 1/4” master tapes around the world for many years. A year or so later they changed the band name to Gen X and re-recorded four or five songs for the album “Kiss Me Deadly”. Billy later released the re-recorded version of ‘Dancing With Myself’ for his solo career in America and the rest is history… After years in storage my tapes were nearing the end of their life, so I digitized them in order to save this lost treasure. I named the album “KMD Sweet Revenge”. Some time later the album was released in Germany, Japan, Spain and supposedly the USA, however the release in America was quashed until Capitol Records put out their own version within a 3-CD anthology of the band, using some different mixes of the songs from cassette tapes. The recordings are almost complete minus a few guitar solos and final mixes. Time on Generation X had run out, but this album clearly shows the direction the band were heading and is worth documenting and certainly worth playing. For your pleasure… Sweet Revenge. Bob “Derwood” Andrews Generation X (also known as Gen X) were an English punk rock band from Chelsea (London, United Kingdom) formed on 1976 by Billy Idol, Tony James and John Towe. Greatest Hits Vol. 1" is the first album by the Punk/Oi! legends Cockney Rejects, originally released in 1980. Despite the title, it is not a greatest hits compilation. Though they didn’t get around to (allegedly) naming the genre of Oi! until their second album, working class football hooligans Cockney Rejects went a long way towards defining the sound. The raw street punk on the cheekily titled "Greatest Hits Vol. 1" dismisses English punk’s art-schooled class of ‘77 to embrace the everyday Brit who drinks a pint or two while watching his favorite football team. The group was formed in1l979 in Placentia, a small town close to Fullerton and Anaheim, by frontman Mike Palm on guitar and lead vocals, Steve Soto on bass and Scott Miller on drums. That early line up recorded the classic version of "Bloodstains" in 1979 as a demo produced by Daniel R. van Patten (of the group Berlin). A year later it was included on the seminal Rodney On The Roq compilation album released by Posh Boy Records. Meanwhile James Levesque had replaced Steve Soto (Adolescents) and the new line up released their own self produced and self released 7" ep in 1980. A year later, the group signed with Robbie Fields' Posh Boy Records for their debut LP Living In Darkness, co-produced by Fields and former Simpletones guitarist Jay Lansford. December 2019 marks the 40 year anniversary of an important record in our lives, AK79. Within the grooves of this historical landmark compilation lies a connection to our musical whakapapa as New Zealanders and music lovers. A defining record, having captured a raw snapshot of the punk subculture in Auckland during the late 70s, this much-loved compilation is a living, breathing statement of what came before today. To mark this very special occassion, Flying Nun Records pays tribute to those ragged and rambunctious years by presenting AK79 40th Anniversary Edition Reissue, due in-stores throughout New Zealand on December 13th. Presented in a myriad of forms; on limited edition red vinyl, standard black vinyl and CD, we can celebrate this iconic cornerstone of alternative kiwi rock history with this special anniversary edition. Featuring new liner notes written by Ripper Records’ Bryan Staff, the 2019 reissue will feature all songs ever featured on anyversion of AK79 for a complete look at its recorded history. About AK79 Raw, unfiltered, shambolic madness. The vision to capture the Auckland scene began with Bryan Staff (Head of Ripper Records and Radio DJ at the time) who saw reason to capture the music coming out of the local punk venues of the time such as Windsor Castle and Zwines. Originally released by Ripper Records in December 1979, bands that featured on the original pressing included The Swingers, The Scavengers, The Primmers, Proud Scum, Toy Love and The Terrorways. The musical movement captured on record was an abrasive, empowered response to the overindulgent progressive rock and glam era of the 70s. The initial pressing, with its iconic black and white cover designed by Terence Hogan was limited to 500 copies, to be later reissued on vinyl and cassette through CBS. During the 40 years since AK79’s first release, the record took on a life of its own. Those original 500 pressings became a rare and coveted collectors item, and somewhat of an “urban myth” on the vinyl market. So the story goes, when the original master recordings of AK79 were discarded in 1982, it only created further demand for this enigmatic record. Responding to the call, an expanded version of AK79 arose, released on CD by Simon Grigg and Roger Shepherd as a joint release by Propeller Records and Flying Nun Records in 1993. This time there were some late additions, including tracks from The Suburban Reptiles, The Spelling Mistakes, The Features and The Marching Girls, along with additional tracks from the original bands on the first pressing. This particular reissue was remastered and mixed by Grigg, and came bundled with additional liner notes by Grigg, Staff and The Terrorways’ own Kerry Buchanan. In November 2008, a bootlegged 2 LP version would come to life for a very special reunion gig in Auckland which involved The Scavengers, The Spelling Mistakes and the first performances from The Terrorways and Proud Scum since 1980 in a rare event. At the time, it was sold at the show with unreleased tracks and a 20-page booklet. Six years later, the AK79 compilation was honoured in its many forms with the IMNZ Classic Record award, presented at the Taite Music Prize ceremony. 40 years on, the spirit of the AK79 still packs a punch and the feeling captured in these recordings are as relevant as ever. Offering ten songs in only twenty-two minutes, Disturbing Domestic Peace lays bare a vivid snapshot of a truly singular band who (at the time) were just finding their feet." Terrie (guitar), G.W. Sok (vocals), Bas (bass), Ome Geurt (drums). Recorded at Joke's Koeienverhuurbedrijf, Schellingwoude, Netherlands. Produced by Dolf Planteijdt. (The Ex Records/Superior Viaduct Records)

Out of stockStatic Age is an album by the American horror punk band Misfits, recorded in 1978. Although it was the first album the band ever recorded, it was not released in its entirety until 1996. In August 1977 The Misfits released their debut single "Cough/Cool" on Blank Records, a label operated by the band's lead vocalist Glenn Danzig. Several months later Mercury Records issued a Pere Ubu record on their own Blank Records imprint, unaware that Danzig held a trademark on the name. The parties came to a settlement, with Danzig accepting thirty hours of studio time for his band in exchange for the rights to the Blank Records name. In January and February 1978 the Misfits, then consisting of Danzig, guitarist Franché Coma, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Mr. Jim, recorded seventeen songs at C.I. Recordings in New York City with engineer and producer Dave Achelis. Due to time constraints, the band recorded the songs live in the studio with only a few takes and very few overdubs. Ultimately fourteen of the seventeen tracks produced during the sessions were assembled for the Misfits' anticipated debut album, to be titled Static Age. However, the band were unable to find a record label interested in releasing the album. Instead, the Misfits released four of the new tracks ("Bullet", "We Are 138", "Attitude", and "Hollywood Babylon") as the "Bullet" single in June 1978 on Danzig's newly created label Plan 9 Records (the same four tracks, along with a remixed version of "Last Caress", were reissued on the Beware EP in January 1980). While on tour in Canada that October, guitarist Franché Coma abruptly quit the band, followed by drummer Mr. Jim at the tour's conclusion. With the band's future far from certain, the Static Age recordings were shelved indefinitely. Danzig recruited new members Bobby Steele and Joey Image and the Misfits shifted their style away from the traditional punk rock of the Static Age sessions to a more horror film-inspired direction. None of the remaining Static Age tracks were released during the early era of the band, though a re-recorded version of "Teenagers from Mars" appeared on the "Horror Business" single in 1979, and a live version of "We Are 138" appeared on the Evilive EP in 1982. After the band's breakup in 1983, Danzig overdubbed guitar and bass tracks on nine of the unreleased Static Age tracks ("Static Age", "TV Casualty", "Hybrid Moments", "Come Back", "Some Kinda Hate", "Theme for a Jackal", "Angelfuck", "Spinal Remains", and "She"), releasing these new versions on the 1985 Legacy of Brutality compilation album. Misfits followed in 1986, reissuing the tracks "Bullet" and "Hollywood Babylon" as well as the overdubbed version of "She". Collection II (1995) reissued "We Are 138" and "Attitude", the remixed version of "Last Caress", and the previously unreleased "Return of the Fly". With the release of the Misfits box set in 1996, the complete original Static Age album saw the light of day for the first time, eighteen years after the songs were recorded. The box set included all three compilation albums as well as a disc with all fourteen Static Age tracks that had been mixed in 1978. The remaining three tracks, "She", "Spinal Remains", and "In the Doorway", were mixed by Alan Douches and Tom Bejgrowicz on February 24, 1997, at West West Side Music and were included when Static Age was finally released as a standalone album that July. "In the Doorway" had never before been released, as it had remained unmixed on the master tapes for nineteen years. The album also included an unlisted eighteenth track consisting of a collage of studio banter and outtakes. Includes double sided insert. (D&V Records/Unofficial Release)

Out of stockThe Sex Pistols' 1978 U.S. tour was a complete fiasco. Bassist Sid Vicious was addicted to heroin, and Johnny Rotten was barely speaking with his bandmates. The brief tour wrapped up January 14th at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom. It was the biggest venue of the entire tour, the crowd was mainly hippies, curious to see what all the fuss was about. The band closed with a cover of the Stooges' "No Fun". When the song ends Rotten asks the crowd, "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" Then he drops the microphone and walks offstage. It was the last time the Sex Pistols would perform together until their reunion tour in 1996. Pink Vinyl. Label: Dear Boss/Unofficial Release

Raw, violent and catchy, Blitz's 1982 debut album sounded like a shot of pure rock and roll through the violence of the English working class. The Sound of Music’ may be one of the most underappreciated punk albums of 1982, while many great and genre defining and seminal albums were released that year few were released that were as fun and imaginative as The Adicts ‘The Sound Of Music’. It features classics such as ‘Joker In The Pack’, ‘Chinese Takeaway’ and ‘my Baby Got Run Over By A Steamroller’ just to name a few. It can be argued that is as perfect an album as there is. Comes with a poster and liner notes from the band. (Puke N Vomit Records)

Out of stockLegend has it that The Blood were "discovered" by Cockney Rejects vocalist Jeff "Stinky Turner" Geggus on the top deck of a bus in Charlton. What they were all doing on the South East London bus has never been fully explained! Still, it was Jeff who introduced Coming Blood (as they were then known) to Sounds journalist Garry Bushell and, suitably impressed, he offered them a spot on the fourth volume of the Oi! compilation series, Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot (1982). It wasn't just the punk scene that took to the band, the more open-minded in the metal fraternity also embraced them, making them one of the first punk-metal crossover bands, equally at home with followers of the Anti Nowhere League or Motorhead. Out of stock40th anniversary box set packaged in a 12" x 12" hardcover book on a limited edition of 15,000 individually numbered copies.Despite carrying on the celebratory tone of The Ramones' debut and Leave Home in the likes of Sheena Is A Punk Rocker, Cretin Hop a tribute to dirty Rockaway Beach and covers of The Trashmen and Do You Wanna Dance? Their third LP from 1977 displays a dark humour that's less jokey than the previous releases' goofs on bad mental health and dysfunctional relationships. the group's best-produced of its first three releases, rocket achieves an almost smooth texture thanks to a clean mix and increased use of Beach Boys-inspired vocal harmonies. The Ramones ignited the punk-rock movement with their eponymous 1976 debut album, revitalizing rock and roll at one of its lowest ebbs with attitude, energy and a loud, fast new sound. By cutting music down to its bare essentials – four chords; a simple, catchy melody; a sped up tempo and irresistibly inane lyrics, the Ramones blazed the trail for thousands of bands that followed, influencing everyone from The Clash and The Sex Pistols to Green Day and The Offspring. Although The Ramones never achieved mainstream financial success, they released 21 live and studio albums, had a devoted fan base and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Contains two different mixes of the album: a remastered version of the original and a new 40th Anniversary Tracking Mix by originalRocket To Russia engineer/mixer Ed Stasium. The collection also includes a number of unreleased studio recordings, plus a previously unissued recording of the band’s 1977 concert in Glasgow, Scotland. The Deluxe Edition will be produced in a limited and numbered edition of 15,000 copies worldwide and comes packaged in a 12 x 12 hardcover book. Along with the music, the set also features stories about the band by Sire Records founder Seymour Stein, details about making the album by Stasium, and extensive liner notes by renowned music writer and co-founder of Creem Magazine, Jaan Uhelszki. The first disc of the Deluxe Edition features a remastered version of the original stereo mix for Rocket To Russia, plus the 2017 40th Anniversary Tracking Mix created by Stasium, which provides a back-to-basics version of the album, and a different track listing from the 1977 original. The 2017 40th Anniversary Tracking Mix is also featured on the LP that accompanies the Deluxe Edition. Stasium provides some details on the new Tracking Mix in the set’s liner notes: “When putting together this new Tracking Mix, I decided to include the versions of ‘I Don’t Care’ and ‘It’s A Long Way Back to Germany,’ since they were recorded during the Rocket To Russia sessions at Mediasound, and are completely different takes that have never been heard before. ‘Sheena’ has been omitted, as it was recorded in a totally different session a few months prior, in-between the Leave Home and Rocket To Russia albums.” Two dozen rare and unreleased recordings are found on the second disc, including rough mixes from sessions at Mediasound and The Power Station. There’s also an early version of “Needles And Pins” with Tommy on drums, the B-side single mix of “Babysitter,” an alternate version of “It’s A Long Way Back To Germany” with Dee Dee on vocals, an original radio promo with Joey Ramone, and more. A highlight of this Deluxe Edition is the complete unreleased concert included on the third disc. This never-before-heard multi-track recording of the band’s December 19, 1977 show at the Apollo Centre in Glasgow, Scotland captures the Ramones just a few days before the group recorded the classic live album It’s Alive, and mixed for this 40th Anniversary edition by Ed Stasium. In Glasgow, they played songs from all three studio albums including “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Judy Is A Punk,” “Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment,” and “California Sun.” Tracklist: Remastered Original Mixes 1-1 Cretin Hop 1:55 1-2 Rockaway Beach 2:06 1-3 Here Today, Gone Tomorrow 2:49 1-4 Locket Love 2:11 1-5 I Don't Care 1:39 1-6 Sheena Is A Punk Rocker 2:49 1-7 We're A Happy Family 2:40 1-8 Teenage Lobotomy 2:01 1-9 Do You Wanna Dance? 1:55 1-10 I Wanna Be Well 2:28 1-11 I Can't Give You Anything 2:01 1-12 Ramona 2:37 1-13 Surfin' Bird 2:37 1-14 Why Is It Always This Way? 2:19 40th Anniversary Tracking Mix 1-15 Cretin Hop 1:57 1-16 Rockaway Beach 2:07 1-17 Here Today, Gone Tomorrow 2:46 1-18 Locket Love 2:16 1-19 I Don't Care (Version 2) 1:51 1-20 It's A Long Way Back To Germany (Version 1) 2:23 1-21 We're A Happy Family 2:38 1-22 Teenage Lobotomy 2:04 1-23 Do You Wanna Dance? 1:54 1-24 I Wanna Be Well 2:30 1-25 I Can't Give You Anything 2:13 1-26 Ramona 3:06 1-27 Surfin' Bird 2:53 1-28 Why Is It Always This Way? 2:44 Mediasound/Power Station Rough Mixes 2-1 Why Is It Always This Way? Naked Raygun's finest work came at a pivotal point in hardcore's nadir, and Chicago's finest did not disappoint with Jettison! The band is tightly wound, and whether they're ploughing straight ahead or experimenting with groove, Naked Raygun fill the air with grit and texture. Jettison is their masterpiece... (Audio PLatter)Out of stockRe-issue of Chicago punk legends Naked Raygun's album 'Throb Throb' – famously, the first live band Dave Grohl ever saw - ON CLEAR VINYL! From its onset, the tube-crunch surf guitar intro of "Rat Patrol," Throb Throb sizzles like grease in a frying pan until it comes to a halt some 30 minutes later. Like the tank on its cover, Throb is largely informed by an antagonism that rails against the Reaganism that helped spawn intelligent '80s post-punk groups much like Naked Raygun. Titles like "Surf Combat," a song about the effects of napalm at popular beaches, "Gear," a braggadocio commentary about nuclear weapons and the arms race, and "Managua," in which troops march to their impending death, exemplify Throb's political mentality and musical gravity, which are a direct result of the '80s Cold War. Naked Raygun sends the songs up with a sense-raping frazzle and dissonance. While not as furious as Hüsker Dü or as angry as the Misfits, Throb is no less vehement, and ever the more working-class. With comprehensible lyrics everyone can understand and chant, and a plethora of race-against-time guitar melodies, Throb is rare in that it appeals to academics as well as rednecks, straight-shooters as well as in-the-know punks. Borrowing from the big-guitar sound of English heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and carving catchy melodies usually reserved for Top 40 pop songs into firebrands like "I Don't Know" and "Libido," Naked Raygun assures Throb's place as a classic that is forever ahead of its time, regardless of when it is heard. Chicago punk legends Naked Raygun are famously, the first live band Dave Grohl ever saw, and even opened for the Foo Fighters at Wrigley Field, Chicago, 2015 All Rise was the first Naked Raygun album to feature Pierre Kezdy on bass and Eric Spicer on drums, though all of the album's songs had been written by vocalist Jeff Pezzati and guitarist John Haggerty before Kezdy and Spicer joined the band. The debut single from 1980 Can't Cheat Karma was released on Crass Records and 39 Years later still stands as one of the finest singles both politically and musically. For the next three singles Zounds released them on Rough Trade Records, along with their debut album The Curse of Zounds. 1981's Demystification was a tense and stark masterpiece. It was followed by the haunting Mikey Dread-produced Dancing and then the more straight up pop of More Trouble Coming Everyday. The final single of Zounds Mark 1 was La Vacht Qui Rit released on Belgium label Not So Brave in 1983 and was originally supposed to be a split single with The Mob but ended up with two scratchy studio tracks and two rough and raw live tracks recorded in Holland in 1982. Every home should have these essential Zounds recordings. Young, Loud and Snotty is the first studio album by the American punk band Dead Boys. It was recorded and released in 1977 on Sire Records, produced by Genya Ravan. The album is the only Dead Boys album to chart, peaking at 189 on the Billboard 200 in November 1977. The album was included at #7 on the Rolling Stone "10 Greatest Punk Rock Albums" reader poll. Label: Fanclub/Unofficial ReleaseOut of stockIf the Misfits were one of the greatest punk bands then Walk Among Us released in 1982 is perhaps one of the greatest records in punk history. While Static Age and Earth AD showcased a band searching for an identity like a vampire for its next victim, Walk Among Us is almost sheer perfection. With a solidified lineup, fully grown-out devillocks (the Misfits trademark long spike of hair in the front) and the stabilizing presence of the somewhat pedestrian but agile arthur googy on drums, uber-misfit Glenn Danzig was finally able to match his zombie-elvis to a worthy musical foil. From the manic opening of 20 Eyes to the monster football chorus of Braineaters, there is nothing less than a sublime moment on this album from start to finish. Astro Zombies or I Turned into a Martian sound like songs to raise the dead by. a special bonus is perhaps the tenderest love song to decapitation (Skulls) in recent memory. (Feral Ward/Unofficial)The American punk rock band The Dictators was described by critics as “one of the finest and most influential proto-punk bands to walk the earth”. They released five studio albums in total, including the 1977 album Manifest Destiny. The album features a cover version of “Search & Destroy” by The Stooges. Manifest Destiny is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on translucent red coloured vinyl. 'Los Angeles' is the debut album of the American punk rock band X, originally released in 1980. Most punk bands used their musical inability to create their own style, but X actually consisted of some truly gifted musicians, including rockabilly guitarist Billy Zoom, bassist John Doe, and front woman Exene Cervenka. Although they are tagged as a punk rock act, X are not easily categorized. Besides punk and loads of electricity, they also added country and folk flavours. It mixed Punk with Rockabilly, Blues & Country, and split the difference between Rockabilly and Ramones-style Punk. This album strikes a chord with those seeking the roots of punk grunge rock heritage. Albums like this prove why Social Distortion was able to survive the demise of the LA Hardcore scene with flair and come out on top! After 40 years of performing, Social Distortion continues to tour and record music. To date, they released seven full-length studio albums and several compilations. Social Distortion is available as a limited edition of 2.500 copies on blue and silver swirled vinyl. 180 gram audiophile vinyl Including Insert (Music on Vinyl)In 1996 Social Distortion released their 5th album, White Light, White Heat, White Trash. The line-up featured a new drummer Chuck Biscuits (Black Flag/Danzig and many more). White Light, White Heat, White Trash was the last album with Dennis Danell on guitar (he sadly died in February 2000). The album received Social Distortion's highest ever chart position, entering the Billboard 200 album chart at #27. It also includes radio favourites "I Was Wrong", "When The Angels Sing" and a superb cover version of the Stones' "Under My Thumb". Stylistically, the album is harder and considered a return to their hardcore punk roots. Subterranean Jungle is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released by Sire Records in February 1983. The album appealed to a hardcore punk rock style rather than featuring several pop-oriented pieces; this is due to the fact that guitarist Johnny Ramone received more leeway with steering the overall genre with his hard rock influenced riffs. 40th Anniversary of the seventh Ramones album.
