This was the Samoans last official album and it’s a beauty. This band carried the punk rock, acid exploration axis better than any other band from the eighties that you’d care to mention. The sixties feel is more obvious on this release and their great ’86 EP ‘Yesterday Started Tomorrow’, but they’ve reduced the hardcore burn of ‘Back from Samoa’ with an early Saints feel, and added some spaced out interludes with acoustic odes directed at the down sides of ingesting too much acid.
