Refused is a Swedish hardcore punk band that emerged from the band Step Forward in January 1992. They disbanded on 6 October 1998 after their last concert for the time being. There was a brief reunion in 2012. Today, Refused are regarded as a key European representative of this genre, but in the 1990s the band did not receive the attention it deserved. In terms of sound, the Swedes initially orientated themselves strongly towards role models such as Gorilla Biscuits, but also drew on elements from metal and rock.
Originally released by Startracks in 1994 (Startrec at the time), this is the debut album by Refused.
The record established them as one of the leading hardcore bands and quickly gained attention both in Sweden as well as abroad. Left-wing political lyrics combined with NYC hardcore influenced music. After being licensed to various labels as Epitaph, We Bite and Victory Records the catalogue is now back again with it’s original label Startracks.
