Punk band from Yangon, Burma (Myanmar). Formed in 2007 after the onset of the Saffron Revolution. During this time in Myanmar many people were protesting against the oppression and corruption of the military system. The Rebel Riot at this time was made of six members, playing small underground gigs. Over the course of (now) nine years many members changed, but their values have stayed the same.
More than three years after the military coup in Myanmar, our new album is out. Despite the strict control from the authorities, we were finally able to release it. Sadly, our guitarist passed away from heart failure just before the mixing was finished. This album is more than just a collection of songs. It’s our traumas, anger, and energy, all mixed up with sadness. With these songs, we want to invite friends from all over the world to pay attention to what’s happening in Myanmar and show solidarity.
We will donate some of the proceeds from this album to support social projects and people in need in Myanmar.
