BARCELONA | un ultimo ultrasonido nació y murió en barcelona | LP

Original price was: €17.00.Current price is: €12.00. incl. tax
Un Último Ultrasonido Nació Y Murió En Barcelona is Barcelona’s sophomore 12” of pure sonic nihilism. A band of highs and lows. High concept as performance and low brow as execution. In my eyes Barcelona is simply a genius project, capable of create their own universe and vomit all over it. Their formula of distortion to the max, total free-ness and improvisation with regurgitated bass lines and repetitive primitive beats topped with the sharpest and nastiest lyrics as observation of our own futility and misery. In their own universe you can find Hermann Nitsch, or the entire catalogue of ESP Disks hanging out with Manolo Kabezabolo and Eskorbuto. Probably without them being aware of it. All of the above is what you’ll find in the 13 songs on this disturbing record wrapped around again in artwork but the last artist on earth Oriol Roca. (La Vida Es Un Mus Records)

Toots Hibbert and his Maytals recording at Studio One with Clement “Sir Coxsone” Dodd at the helm and the legendary Skatalites backing, what more could you possibly want? Never Grow Old is the first full length from the Maytals and Toots’ songwriting chops were fully formed right out of the gate, with most of the tunes being co-writes with Dodd. Bob was the king for a number of reasons but Toots may very well be The best male vocalist ever from the island of Jamaica. Real authentic ska from the source. (Slop'n'Mash Records)
  • Their 1995 classic album About Time brought Pennywise to mainstream acknowledgement with songs "Same Old Story," "Perfect People," and "Every Single Day" hitting international airwaves. Pennywise have made a name for themselves as a politically minded, melodic punk band that has sold millions of albums and have become legends in the punk scene. Formed in 1988, the band played backyard parties in their hometown of Hermosa Beach, California, without having any aspirations other than playing as many songs as they could before the police showed up. Hermosa Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods are a prominent place in popular culture, with groups like Black Flag, The Circle Jerks and Descendants merging a fast rebellious sound with the surrounding aggressive surf and skate culture. Inspired by their predecessors, Pennywise were at the forefront of a second wave of American punk rock that would catapult the movement from a tight-knit subculture into a worldwide movement. • Black Mans Pride 2 extends the legacy of Studio Ones ground-breaking path in roots reggae which began at the end of the 1960s and continued throughout the 1970s. The album tells the story of how the rise of Studio One Records and the Rastafari movement were interconnected, through the adoption of the Rastafari faith by key reggae artists everyone from the Skatalites and Wailers in the 1960s, major singers such as Alton Ellis and Horace Andy at the end of the decade, through to major roots artists such as The Gladiators in the 1970s and how Clement Dodd consistently recorded this heavyweight roots music throughout Studio Ones history. This is the second installment of deep roots Rastafarian reggae at Studio One and features classic music from some of the most important figures in reggae music Alton Ellis, The Heptones, Jackie Mittoo, The Gladiators alongside a host of rarities and little-known recordings, such as a truly rare Mystic Revelation of Rastafari seven-inch single, Willie Williams first ever recording Calling and Horace Andys righteous (and equally rare) masterpiece Illiteracy. The sleeve-notes to this album also discuss the links between Rastafari and Studio One in time and place, noting how both the religion and Clement Dodds musical empire had their roots in the intense period of pre-independence Jamaica in Kingston, expanded in the 1960s following the visit of Haile Selassie in 1966, and how roots music then came to dominate reggae music in the early 1970s. Also discussed is how the outsider stance of both reggae music and the Rastafari movement relate back many hundreds of years to the original rebel stance of the Maroons, escaped slaves who set up self-sufficient enclaves in the hills of the Jamaican countryside. LPx2 - Heavyweight Gatefold Double LP. Includes Download Code. (Soul Jazz Records/2002)

FUCKED AND BOUND | suffrage | LP/Clear Vinyl

Original price was: €26.00.Current price is: €20.00. incl. tax
Vengeful female-fronted sonic fury from Seattle, Washington. A 13 song debut showcasing black & white hardcore-crust worship that aligns with Disfear, Nausea, ABC Diabolo and Capitalist Casualties. Kind of rockin’ too in places, like Coliseum. Fronted by Lisa Mungo – one of those crazed exhibitionists that the punk scene, thankfully, throws-up every so often – who, along with the guitarist, also plays in excellent doom/sludge outfit, He Whose Ox Is Gored. This album is a slow burner, one that you might want to catch-up on, quick… Born in a warehouse in South Lake Union, Fucked And Bound delivers Seattle, WA, hardcore that's built to spank thru. With their album "Suffrage," the band slams forth 13 songs in 23 minutes in an acid bath of pure sonic fury. Brickwalled and claustrophobic, these tracks seethe over feminism, nihilism, and the pitfalls of industry, to ask, what is the cost of good living? • We have been working on this one for a while now and we are thrilled to finally announce it. This is a live LP from D.C.'s legendary hardcore band Faith! Recorded live in December of 1981, opening for the Bad Brains, this LP is 2 complete sets and it captures the bands incredible live energy. This is early, raw hardcore at it's best. All photos are by Glen E Friedman, who was at the show and went on to shoot everyone from Minor Threat, the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Guy Picciotto from Fugazi traveled with the band for the show and had this to say... "The Faith were one of the best live bands DC ever produced. Having been there, I can confidently say that their show with the Bad Brains at CBGB’s on 12/26/81 was the best concert happening anywhere on the Planet Earth that night. Nothing else could have come close." (Outer Battery Records) https://www.brooklynvegan.com/qa-w-the-faith-on-upcoming-live-album-from-1981-cbgb-show-with-bad-brains-stream-a-track/
  • When Sydney's Oily Boys dropped their long awaited debut LP on Cool Death over the summer we were caught unawares, and quickly fell in love with it. Static Shock is now very pleased to be releasing this across the pond for the uninitiated. Here's what the Cool Death originally said about this record, as we couldn't agree more: "Chthonic, catatonic, chronic... Cro Memory Grin is a masterpiece. Thirteen turbocharged tracks indebted to the pleasures and pitfalls of their lives in the modern city of Sydney and to the the first and second waves of international extreme music freaks and loonies: pure fucking aggression. The Oily Boys have graced us with a beast of an album that swells between direct, gripping, tangible hardcore punk and near nauseating psychedelia and throb which at moments feels like either ritual trance or a nervous breakdown. Cro Memory Grin contains near equal measures of tension and release; an exercise in high catharsis. It’s rare that a punk record can give the listener anywhere near the same intoxicating feel of an “everything louder than everything else” live show, but that’s what Oily Boys have done. That lightning in a bottle feeling of excitement, chaotic energy, delirium, presence in a moment and frenzied flight into a mind state both frightening and ecstatic. The stone has been carved, the fire has been lit, and this is it... Cro. Memory. Grin. *** Best played LOUDEST ***" The LP is pressed on blue marbled vinyl and comes packaged in a slightly different sleeve to the Cool Death pressing. White vinyl edition available from Iron Lung in America. If you're in Australia, please order from Lulu's to save on shipping. (Static Shock Records)

    BIG BLACK | racer x | LP

    17.00 incl. tax
Originally released in 1983 on Homestead Records and re-released on Touch And Go Records in 1992. Recently remastered by Steve Albini and Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering. Includes coupon for an MP3 download of the album. Big Black was started by Steve Albini in 1982 while he was attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Lungs, the first Big Black release was recorded by Steve on a borrowed 4-track. He played everything on the EP himself - except the sax bleating courtesy of pal John Bohnen and the drums courtesy of Roland. Soon after, Steve recruited Jeff Pezzati (Naked Raygun) on bass, and Santiago Durango (also Naked Raygun) joined them on guitar. In 1983, together with live drummer Pat Byrne, they recorded the Bulldozer EP. By 1984, the band had done some touring and recorded the Racer X EP and the start of the Il Duce 7”. After that, Jeff returned to Naked Raygun and was replaced by Dave Riley. In 1985, Big Black recorded their first full-length, Atomizer, as well as finishing the Il Duce 7”. Atomizer was released in 1986 along with the release of the Hammer Party compilation CD. In 1987, the Headache EP and Heartbeat 7” were released. That same year, the band recorded and released the 7” of The Model/He’s A Whore as well as their second full-length album, Songs About Fucking. They toured extensively (for Big Black). And they broke up. (Touch And Go Records)

  • 1969 proved a crucial year in the development of Jamaican music. Reggae had just superseded Rock Steady in becoming the island s national sound, with the new exciting style swiftly embraced by a fast developing British working class youth movement noted for their smart, functional clothing and cropped hair Skinheads. So it was in such an environment that leading independent Doctor Bird Records released Laurel Aitkens long awaited second album in 1967, Laurel Aitken Says Fire, a collection comprised of his most popular singles from the preceding months along with previously unreleased material. Unsurprisingly, the LP became an immediate best-seller, its success only hindered by the record company’s sudden and unexpected demise soon after. • PAVEMENT | same title | LP

    16.00 incl. tax
Radiation Roots present a reissue of Pavement's self-titled album, originally released in 1969. Pavement's sole long-player is the stuff of legend, a record so rare that in-the-know vinyl connoisseurs have questioned its very existence. As one of the many vinyl anomalies of the day, Pavement's obscure story is very much about a particular place and time, in this case, the fringes of the multi-cultural London music scene that existed at the tail end of the swinging sixties. According to the liner notes of the original LP, Pavement was formed in 1968 after "Dexter Pat and John had left their original group," and "Tony and George left theirs to unite with them." Then, "an express letter to Beirut brought Mick, who was playing there at the time." We are told that these musicians were "digging the solid soul sounds" and "the exciting rhythms of the Caribbean, ska and reggae," and after two months of steady rehearsals, the band "launched themselves into the rat race of popular music" in November 1968. They supposedly had so much success as a warm-up act after playing up and down the country in support of various unnamed groups that they were "soon being booked as top of the bill," hence the need for this. Pavement's self-titled debut album was the first LP released by Crystal, the subsidiary of President Records that was established in 1968 by Jack Price, a songwriter and harmonica player that had just replaced Siggy Jackson as label manager at Melodisc Records. Price had his finger in a number of different pies: in addition to promoting Melodisc's ska and reggae catalogue, he was soon to produce the ground-breaking various artists album Rock Steady Hits Of 69 for Fontana with London-based reggae performers, which helped bring Caribbean rhythms into non-specialist music shops for the very first time, and enjoyed the publishing on The Cats' massive "Swan Lake" 45, a hugely successful pop-reggae adaptation. Jack also ran a recording studio of his own, reputedly the first London facility with eight-track recording equipment. The original liner notes suggested that we should "rest assured that there will be more singles and albums to come from this refreshing group" and that "this news will please a lot of people." Of course, things didn't quite work out that way. This reissue reminds that reggae, soul and other foreign forms were spicing up the London music scene as the 1960s drew to a close. • Having formed only about 2 years ago, LION'S LAW have quickly established themselves as one of the elite modern skinhead streetpunk bands alongside BOOZE & GLORY, EVIL CONDUCT, BISHOPS GREEN and THE TEMPLARS. From their debut show in a squat in Paris in the summer of 2012, LION’S LAW are now consistently playing to (and even headlining) full rooms all over Europe! Formed by members of the popular French band MARABOOTS, LION’S LAW took a direction equally as influenced by classic UK Oi! bands like LAST RESORT as much as classic French bands like WARRIOR KIDS and CAMERA SILENS. This fusion creates a unique sound that has met with success not only across Europe, but also here in the US and elsewhere.

Recorded by the band's own Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios (Lord Mantis, Like Rats, Harms Way), 'Apology' is a veritable tornado of grindcore/powerviolence/hardcore savagery. 'Apology' is thirteen tracks of utter punishment that sees WEEKEND NACHOS sounding more dangerous and urgent than ever before. Features guest vocal appearances from Dylan Walker of Full of Hell. "This LP contains the Vibrators' recorded sessions as guests on the BBC's celebrated John Peel show, the nightly radio show which was the showcase for Punk Rock in the UK from 1976 onwards. The sessions span the seminal years of their career leading up to the releases of their classic "Pure Mania" and "V2" albums. As drummer Eddie says in the sleeve notes, the musicianship developed as the sessions went on, from an embryonic punk band to the masterful "new wave" act they became. From a shaky version of "Nazi Baby", through punk anthems "Baby Baby", "Keep It Clean" and "London Girls" you can hear the band grow in stature and power. The real highlight is the March 6, 1978 session, with its excellent rocking version of "Fall In Love" and the best recording the Vibes ever made of their masterpiece "Troops Of Tomorrow". After hearing this version on the John Peel show, the version of "Troops" which made it onto "V2" was disappointing in comparison. I've always thought that this session was the Vibrators finest hour, this track their best ever recording.' Folded insert with liner notes and band pictures included. The compilation album Heures sans Soleil was originally released in October 1985 in an edition of 1000 copies. It was the fourth vinyl release on LTM, the label I founded while still at school in Edinburgh, and followed on from singles by Minny Pops and A Primary Industry, as well a live album by Crispy Ambulance. . . . I can't claim the idea of an artsy cosmopolitan compilation album was terribly original. I was 19 years old at the time, and still deep in the thrall of earlier Crépuscule collections such as From Brussels With Love and The Fruit of the Original Sin." Includes extended liner notes by James Nice. Released in collaboration with LTM/James Nice. 180-gram vinyl. Step Forward. Umeå Hardcore Originals. In 1989 there were no such things as Umeå Hardcore. There was no scene and hardly any punk bands. A bunch of friends got together under the moniker of Step Forward to play fast and wild Hardcore. This is the first proper Straight Edge band of Sweden - started a couple of years after some members of legendary Svart Parad brought it to Scandinavia. They were in many ways the origins of the scene that in the 90’s exploded with bands like Refused, Abhinanda, The Doughnuts, Final Exit and Umeå Hardcore became a thing outside of Sweden. In their short lifespan between 89-91 they recorded two demos, put on numerous shows and did a fanzine called Umeå Hardcore Zine. For the first time ever the 2 demos are being released on vinyl. Remastered and with liner notes from Dennis Lyxzen and a bunch of unseen photos. The band was only around for a fraction of time but they had a huge impact on the small world surrounding them and Dennis of course went on to form REFUSED right after the break up. Members of STEP FORWARD were also involved in bands like FINAL EXIT, INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY, E.T.A., REGULATIONS, AC4 or INVSN in next three decades! If you are into fast Hardcore done by a bunch of alienated teens from the north of Sweden you need to check out this record.
