(Stonehenge)

ZBOMBARDOWA LALECZKA, a band from Poznań,active in the years 1983-1986 and emerged from the earlier formations of MAŁY BRZYDAL and KBW. It was one of the few groups operating in Poland whose character clearly indicated inspiration from British peace-punk. Echoes of Poison Girls, Crass or Flux Of Pink Indians penetrated their own view of music and message. Another characteristic element that distinguished the band was its composition, which differed from the standard of the time. In the first half of the 1980s, there were only a few punk or post-punk bands with women in the line-up (including FORNIT, ATAK, TILT, BIALE WULKANY, BIKINI, KONTROLA W., DZIECI KAPITAN KLOSS and the aforementioned KBW). For many people, the performances of ZOMBARDOWANA LALECZKA with the vocalist Gertruda were the first contact with strong female vocals in a native punk band The group's message was no less important than the music. It was a direct protest against war, militarism and violence. As reality shows, today, unfortunately, it will again sound exceptionally up-to-date and shocking. The band's poignant lyrics and music were complemented by graphic accents created by them - collages, posters or the band's fanzine distributed at concerts. Unfortunately, despite the huge potential, the band never managed to enter the studio. They did not live to see any record or cassette release, and the only trace they left behind was the cassette compilation "Róbrege '85", which included the song "Children die first". The same number, registered during the performance in Jarocin '85, was used in Piotr Łazarkiewicz's film "Wave". Both festivals were certainly the most important events in the history of the band, and thanks to them, the memory of the group had the opportunity to survive despite the lack of releases. A photo session for one of the first issues of the "Wprost" magazine from 1983 is also worth noting. In addition to the aforementioned cassette compilation and recording in the legendary film "Wave", poor quality concert recordings were also circulating among the fans. This release double fills an important gap in the history of punk in the 80s. The band Zbombardowana Laleczka not only debuts on the album, but also after 37 years, their full material will sound in good quality, previously unavailable, for the first time. Recordings recorded during a performance on the big stage (for which the band qualified without sending an application cassette!) are 95% recordings from the console, and with the transfer from the original reel-to-reel tape and mastering in the invaluable Studio As One, the whole thing sounds great and we are sure, that this disc will give the band, their rightful place in the history of the Eastern Bloc punk movement. Due to the historical value, we decided to include the band's full performance on the album, also with the song interrupted by the organizers due to fights in front of the stage. After about an hour's break, the band managed to present the entire programme. Traditionally, like the rest of the series of punk recordings from the festival in Jarocin presented by Warsaw Pact Records/Archiwum Trasa W-Z, the album is released with a gatefold cover and this time with two additional booklets: one with the history of the band, photos, collages and graphics and the other with a faithful reproduction of a zine released by the band in the 1980s. Comes with a 24-page booklet with information about the band and a reproduction of a zine released by Zbombardowana Laleczka in 1985. (Warsaw Pact Records)
  • "A band out of London, UK that sings in Italian? Well, with over 270 nationalities living in Britain’s capital – pre-Brexit anyway – anything is possible, but it makes a unique selling point nonetheless! The band in question, Zanzara – who just released their first release ever, the “Gli Occhi Dello Stato” LP for Common People Records! Now the cover artwork might have given it away already, but Zanzara is indeed the Italian word for a mosquito. But where mosquito’s are annoying little fuckers that bite and keep on zooming in your ear, Zanzara is anything but irritating, making the kind of noise you want to hear over and over and over again! Delivering that raw, brickwall sound of the 80’s – Zanzara delivers a dozen of anthems that sound authentic, yet relevant – much alike French outfit Rixe. It’s no surprise then that the sound of these Italian Londoners is influenced by the likes of Nabat and early Klasse Kriminale (easy comparisons of course, because of the shared language), though you can easily spoon up a list of bands from the “Chaos En France”-era as well. Along with a healthy dose of nihilistic post-punk riffs, a deliberate lo-fi production and killer song structures, Zanzara delivers a fairly brilliant debut that keeps captivating over and over again – I love it! Altough “Gli Occhi Dello Stato” has been online for a while already, this physical release still caught me by surprise – in a very positive way! Released on either black (200 copies) or oxblood vinyl (100 copies) (both complimenting the colors used for the sleeve and inlay), this record is an absolute must for those who like their sound raw and unpolished, yet – or maybe because of that – close to perfection! Highly recommended!" American Oi (Common People Records)

  • Reissue, originally released in 1958. Ceaseless seeker Yusef Lateef continually sought to push the boundaries of jazz, striving to make connections across continents and to capture the essence of devotional expression long before the term "world music" was coined. Recorded at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1958, Lateef At Cranbrook is a stunning set of instrumentals reaching into the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, the unusual line-up including Frank Morelli on baritone sax, William Austin on rabab, and Terry Polland on piano, with Lateef commanding the proceedings on tenor sax. An exceptional and emotive musical journey. Label: Survival Research Barcode: 0637913138430

YOUTH YOUTH YOUTH had very few releases but every song on their releases were great." Amazing compilation by the legendary Connecticut heroes Youth Of Today. The main feature is the ultra rare Don Fury Demo from 1986, recorded just prior to recording the debut album, "Break down the walls". Super raw versions of the album tracks, plus other bits...kind of like "Before the quarrel" by Cro Mags. On the b-side you can find the two tracks from the "Make it work" compilation released in 1985 and a great live set recorded at CBGB on 12/05/1985. History is here, it's time to break down the walls. 'Acid Punk Dub Apocalypse' was recorded over the last year by the former Public Image Ltd founder and renowned producer and Killing Joke bassist and features a host of special guests and collaborations. Featuring 11 brand new tracks, it's a truly inspired collection of tracks. The new long player also includes singers and players such as Rhiannon, Blue Pearl, Alabama 3's Aurora Dawn, Lara Smiles, broadcaster and author Vivien Goldman and The Orb's Alex Paterson. "Two titans of the bass got together to create this dub-inflected summit meeting of an album. Jah Wobble (Public Image Ltd, Invaders of the Heart) and Youth (Killing Joke, about a billion production gigs) are such a natural combination that it's kind of crazy they haven't done this before. But better late than never, and Acid Punk Dub Apocalypse is a well-titled project. As you'd expect, it's the dub aesthetic that unites the diverse program: instruments and vocals fade in and out, sonic spaces are huge and echoey, and the bass is everywhere. ''Full Metal Dub'' is reggae in 5/4, which I would have said was impossible. Turns out it isn't, though I don't know if it's really advisable ― dancing to this track would be a great way for someone my age to break a hip. ''Rise Me Up'' is more conventional reggae, a soulful plea featuring singer Blue Pearl, and ''Keep on Moving'' covers similar territory with a steppers beat and vocalist Aurora Down. ''Chariot Sky,'' on the other hand, has a bit of an East African highlife vibe, with hypnotic repeating patterns and glistening guitar, and also some slightly Muzak-y synth; ''Panzer Dub'' combines another odd time signature (7/4 this time) with a vaguely Latin beat and crunchy guitars. Great stuff all around." Rick Anderson --CD HotList April 2021 (Cadiz Music ‎– CADIZLP184)

Spare Parts is the new recording from Paris’s Youth Avoiders. The EP offers 4 new songs in the same vein as their 2014 album (also on Deranged) where the band perfected their brand of fast melodic hardcore like Career Suicide meets hook driven punk of the Red Dons. Label: Destructure Records, Build Me A Bomb Records
  • Youth Avoiders' first full length is exactly the best you would have expected after their different E.P's. These 5 guys combine great songwriting with great sense of melody and catchiness. This first album is made of 11 songs and the band hasn't feared to explore new things, more complex structures without loosing their energy and straightforwardness. The result is an urgent and solid record. This is the third Youth Avoiders' release on Destructure and like the "Time Flies" e.p it's a corelease with Build me a Bomb. 4th press black vinyl, sleeve printed on reverse board (Destructure Records)
  • "Relentless" is the long awaited YOUTH AVOIDERS second album. The five years between this new full lenght and their debut have been really intense for the band, made of constant live appearances everywhere around the globe. Intensity is the trademark of YOUTH AVOIDERS, "Relentless" is the fruit of a five days session in the Normandy countryside studio Swan Sound. To keep it simple, "Relentless" is YOUTH AVOIDERS making what they have done so good so far but even better : catchy riffing, rich melodies, inexhaustible drumming, sharp vocals... The band has also raised the tempo, these 11 songs go at an unrestrained pace. "Relentless" well bears its name ! Label: Destructure Records
  • “Colossal Youth / Loose Ends and Sharp Cuts” is Young Marble Giants debut studio album, released in 2007. Young Marble Giants were a Welsh post-punk band formed in Cardiff, Wales, in 1978. The first formation of Welsh trio Young Marble Giants was short-lived, but in just a few years, the band created a sound that presented post-punk's experimental tendencies in their most minimal rendering without sacrificing any excitement. “Colossal Youth / Loose Ends and Sharp Cuts” is arguably Sam Smith’s best body of work to date, containing many of his most popular songs such as “N.I.T.A.,” “Brand - New - Life,” and “Croci Loni.” This album offers a listening experience like no other as you get to hear the incredible Lofi indie rock sound. Hailing from the ever-grey skies of Eugene Oregon comes YOB, a band destined to make their mark in the DOOM metal scene worldwide. In 1996, founding member Mike Scheidt started creating and destroying ideas that would become the foundation for one of DOOM metals most shining hopefuls; YOB. The first three song self-titled demo was submitted to the underground authority, STONERROCK.com in 1999, sending shockwaves through the scene worldwide. This demo was a bold statement of intent: uncompromising HEAVY DOOM METAL. Equal parts SLEEP, Burning Witch, Neurosis, High On Fire and Electric Wizard, YOB recorded its first full-length record for 12th Records in Spokane, WA entitled “Elaborations Of Carbon”. This offering received rave reviews from magazines and fans worldwide, securing YOB’s place as one of the best DOOM metal bands in the scene today. Playing countless shows since their formation, YOB is just as at home playing to hardcore punk and extreme metal fans as they are in front of stoner/doom metal audiences. Having shared the stage with diverse bands such as Isis, Soilent Green, Electric Wizard, Botch, Darkest Hour, The Locust, Orange Goblin, Alabama Thunderpussy, High On Fire, Will Haven, Fireball Ministry, Acid King, Bongzilla, Unida, and many more, it is clear to those who have witnessed YOB live that they easily carve their place into any line-up they appear with. “The Illusion Of Motion” will permanently secure YOB as one of the heaviest, most original DOOM metal bands of any era past or present. 180G black vinyl includes large 2-sided poster! YLEISET SYYT | toisten todellisuus | LP

Original price was: €22.00.Current price is: €17.00. incl. tax
“Toisten Todellisuus” compiles two 7”s by Helsinki, Finland’s YLEISET SYYT: their self-titled EP, originally released in 2019, and 2021’s “Umpikujamekanismi”. Despite members playing in well-known underground Finnish bands like KOHTI TUHOA and FORESEEN, YLEISET SYYT has flown under the radar in the Anglophone world, with only a small fraction of their records’ tiny pressings making it outside Finland. Fortunately for you, the hardcore fanatics at Sorry State and La Vida Es Un Mus have our ears to the ground, and we agreed that a band this killer deserves a much wider audience. YLEISET SYYT’s sound is both blistering and anthemic, moving nimbly from full-throttle rippers like “Hygieeninen Ruumis” to tracks like “Hyväntekijä” and “Luovan Keskiluokan Takapihalla,” whose big chorus hooks could have anchored a Riot City or No Future A-side. The combination of ferocious performances and songwriting chops might remind you of older Finnish bands like LAMA, MELLAKKA, and APPENDIX, but MINOR THREAT, THE FIX, and NECROS are equally apt comparisons. If you like your early 80s-style hardcore tightly-wound, razor-sharp, and bristling with hooks, you’re gonna love “Toisten Todellisuus” as much as we do (Daniel Lupton) (La Vida Es Un Mus)

    YFORY | same title | 7″

    10.50 incl. tax
The debut four track 7” from Yfory feels like an instant jewel in the crown of modern punk. Sounding like a classic unknown gem from the golden era of post-punk 79-83, it has style, humour and demands, with vocals delivered mostly in the Welsh language. When Yfory are locked in and in full repetition mode their stuttering and jagged instrumentation and half spoken-half sung vocals sound like Life Without Buildings mixed with Malaria, while their faster numbers recall Wire or Kleenex / Liliput with an edge. ‘Pwy Chwaer?’ (‘Whose Sister?) tells of a union struggle exposing fault lines of feminist hypocrisy, Ailgylchu’ is a song about taking out the recycling that name checks global oil, self-driving cars, and private islands, while longest track Baled Y Dolmen is a search for salvation at the motorway services and Wales’ many standing stones, paying deliberate homage to cult Welsh band Datblygu. Made up of friends from four countries who’ve been active across international punk (in Diät, Good Throb, Barcelona, Idiota Civilizato and many besides) this is a distinct project made in Berlin that will after a single listen become one of your new daily pleasures. Yfory means tomorrow. (Sean Forbes, Rough Trade) Label: Static Shock Records
• Yellow Eyes copped a raw deal from the start. Their DIY debut from 2012, Silence Threads The Evening's Cloth, was (not unfairly) compared to Krallice, who (somewhat unfairly) are often accused of "scene tourism" because of its members' involvement in other kinds of music. That's black metal for you. Yellow Eyes' stomping ground of not-very-kvlt New York also didn't help, inspiring from-thin-air allegations of vegan hipsterdom. Undeterred, the band has plowed ahead over the past decade with a couple of EPs and four albums–the latter two, wonderfully titled Immersion Trench Reverie and Rare Field Ceiling, cementing Yellow Eyes' reputation for extreme eccentricity well within the bounds of black metal's foundations. Throughout this time, the main draw has always been the hypnotic dual guitar work between the Brothers Skarstad (Will and Sam). The band's wider pedigree must also not be underestimated. Will has links to the sorely missed House of First Light, as well as a solo project, Ustalost, and drummer Mike Rekevics boasts an extensive portfolio ranging from Vanum, to Vilkacis, Vorde, and way back to Fell Voices. But for all this eclecticism, nothing could have prepared us for Yellow Eyes' latest album, Master's Murmur, which was released without warning at the end of October through the band's own imprint, Sibir Records, with an LP to follow on Gilead Media. So what's the big deal? Well, Master's Murmur isn't strictly a black metal record. Note that this is not an improbable event–just look at how Laster or Furia continually reinvent themselves. But that isn't to say that Yellow Eyes is shunning the style, which makes Master's Murmur all the more exciting. Sure, the first blast beat might not turn up until a good 13 minutes of the album has elapsed, but it drops in such an organic way that fans and newcomers alike should feel in safe hands as the band takes you on a tour of what we'll call "adjacent" music. Take "Anywhere Out Of The World" from Dead Can Dance's 1987 album Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun. No rock instrumentation to be heard, clean singing, and yet we have an atmosphere remarkably close to what would become familiar sonics for black metal over the next decade. As such, you can find a lot of extreme metal fans also moving in post-industrial, neoclassical, and darkwave circles. We could take Master's Murmur as a love letter to these equally leftfield genres that often tread similar ground despite disparate motivations and methods. Opener "Old Acclivity Dream" couldn't be a better mission statement. An air raid siren of woodwinds blaring out of harmony, thrumming bass, then guitar noise verging on power electronics, before a haunting melodic theme surfaces out of the cacophony. The transition into the self-titled track could go entirely unnoticed, and here we begin to see Yellow Eyes employing textures from dungeon synth, neofolk, and even Tolkien-esque landscapes. Yet Yellow Eyes' identity remains. Will hasn't suddenly turned into Dead Can Dance mastermind Brendan Perry, keeping hold of his venomous bark in spite of the music's less obvious aggression. Nor has the band shirked what makes it distinct–the Skarstads' guitars still writhe and intertwine into the uncanny, only this time round much of it is drenched in reverb and delay instead of distortion. Underneath, the murky power chords and bass move much slower, evoking the spirit of drone and doom. Meanwhile, percussion is purposefully sparse, first reminding us of its presence on "Winter is Looking" with a thumping bass drum punctuating the track's dirge-like qualities. Then, as the synth line reaches a climax, Rekevics' telltale fills smash the relative tranquility and dive into a blast beat for the first "black metal" moment of Master's Murmur, while a strummed acoustic guitar and piano guide the piece to its conclusion. "Irrlicht" is borderline ritual music where the realms of dungeon synth and drone collide effortlessly, and a disembodied voice casts spells through the smoke of a sorcerer's cauldron. "When Jackie's Lamps Have Showed" snaps from dark ambient into a swirling madness of acoustic guitars and bells. Bells are a recurring theme in Yellow Eyes' work, whether they come from field recordings or it's the sound of the guitars themselves as on "Old Alpine Pang" from Immersion Trench Reverie. Old habits die hard, and "The Ritual is Gone" sees Rekevics' savage blasts return for an ecstatic melding of ambient, noise, black metal, and, yes, more bells, underpinned by church organ-like synth. The whole album oozes a sense of the occult and folk horror, whether it's the incantations of the lyrics, the bleating of sheep (or goats) in the next field over on "Gold Door to Blindness," or the cover art of a faceless hooded figure among crops. All this could hint at what's to come from Yellow Eyes next because, as you may or may not be pleased to know, Master's Murmur is one in a pair of companion albums. Per the band, it is "the first of two complementary releases conjoined in spirit, a surreal, sinister industrial folk prelude to an upcoming full-band LP" in 2024. With Master's Murmur already displaying Yellow Eyes at their most confident, experimental, and discerning, we cannot wait to hear what follows. Richard Currie Label: Sibir Records

Heavily influenced by The Ramones and The Damned, Los Yaps had been shredding around Mexico since the early 80s. At that time punk began to penetrate the marginalized areas of Mexico City and the band started to practice even though they did not know how to play an instrument. Over the years YAPS changed several line ups but still they crated this unique sound leading them to tour with Total Chaos and open up for main acts such as Ramones, GBH, Exploited, Eskorbuto and many more. This LP includes the “s/t” 7” from 1988 and the “Tu Sentencia” LP from 1990. Mexican Punk at its best! Released in cooperation with the original members and the sole rights’ holders (BAM BAM DISCOS) (Radiation Records)   ‎
