Out of stockMourning Noise was an American horror- and hardcore punk band from Lodi, New Jersey, notable for drummer Steve Zing. Active around the time of the Misfits, Mourning Noise were strongly influenced by the Misfits as drummer Steve Zing lived very close to Jerry Only and Doyle's house and Steve went to high school with Doyle. Their music was typically fast and melodic. Mourning Noise released only a small amount of material, typically as 7" singles, apart from the 1998 collection album Death Trip Delivery. Steve later went on to play for Samhain, Son of Sam, The Undead, Chyna, Doomtree, and later, Danzig. Samhain guitarist Damien was briefly a member of the band. This CD includes the group’s complete collection of studio recordings including outtakes. Features the full endorsement and introductory blurb from Glenn Danzig! Out of stockThe late eighties were an exciting time to get caught up in the hardcore scene. While many of the early eighties pioneers of the music had moved along, the scene went through something of a renaissance with a new crop of energetic kids who had seized the power of the music and molded it into something that was relevant to the style of their times. Leading the pack in this regeneration was Revelation Records, who released a clutch of seven-inch singles and albums by bands like SICK OF IT ALL, GORILLA BISCUITS, BOLD, JUDGE and CHAIN OF STRENGTH that defined where the scene was at that time. Somewhere in central New Jersey, a group of kids attending Ewing High School were spinning these records incessantly while attending many of these bands? live shows. The combination set their minds ablaze with inspiration and so they started MOUTHPIECE in January of 1990. In between getting their band from the basement to the clubs, an abrupt change happened within the hardcore scene. Most of the bands MOUTHPIECE wanted to share the stage with had suddenly broken up or changed paths. With no concern for the changes in sound and style going on around them, they went along with their original agenda and unconsciously became the band to lead straight edge hardcore into the nineties until their demise in 1996. Can't Kill What's Inside: The Complete Discography contains the band's entire recorded output. The packaging contains photos of the band as well as a complete listing of every show the band has ever played in their existence. The entire product is both a labor of love as well as a sight to see and proves that what remains is certainly more than words. New pressing now available on coke bottle clear vinyl. Delaware-based power trio Mouzakis conjured an intriguing sound somewhere between traditional rhythm and blues and garage rock, with psychedelic and hard rock leanings. The band occupied something of a unique space during their short reign during the early 1970s, and it was partly their non-standard outlook that kept the group a trio, since other potential musical recruits simply could not find a way through their multidirectional sound. Drummer / lead singer Eddie Stevenson and bassist / keyboardist Fred Dawson had been playing together in the mid-1960s in The Fabulous Pharaohs, which issued sparse singles on short-lived labels such as Three Star and Reprise, issuing a mix of originals and non-standard cover tunes, before splitting off to form Mouzakis, with a number of guitarists failing to last long, before Sam Stipo stepped up to the plate. Soon Mouzakis were carving out a solid reputation as an enthralling live act on the Delaware and Maryland live circuits, opening for all manner of acts, including soul group The Stylistics and smooth pop / rock act, Chicago. Following the release of debut single Don’t Want You No More for Philadelphia’s British Main Records in May 1970, debut album Magic Tube was issued by British Main the following year. The album certainly veers all over the map: Party Ball is straightforward rock ‘n’ roll, while Lady and romance bust-up saga Both Do Fine skate the fine line between garage rock and psychedelia. In contrast, lengthy opener Magic Tube reminds of a less-polished Doors and the live cut of Rock Around the Clock has the benefit of unexpected organ. Definitely a one-away release by a difficult to classify band. (Survival Research)

Out of stockHere’s Tales From The Crypt, the vinyl bootleg of The Mummies- recording sessions with Mike Mariconda which were meant to make up the band’s debut LP (to be released on Crypt). The story is that The Mummies had wanted Billy Childish to produce but when that proved impossible, for unknown reasons, label boss Tim Warren sent his friend, Mariconda (ex of The Raunch Hands). This didn’t go down well with the band and they weren’t happy with the results. Neither, it seems, was Tim Warren, as he shelved the tapes. The 2nd 12″ by Bogotá raw punkers MURO. Taking their primitive yet complex hardcore punk in new yet familiar directions. Inspired by international hardcore and punk from all ages – for ALL AGES! Comes with a poster and an insert. In the US – please get your copy from the always amazing BEACH IMPEDIMENT Recs. – as Mark is handling the North American edition. Here’s what Mike Thorn had to say about Muro: Muro is a special band. Sure, I was missing Texas hardcore masters the Impalers but I had to process everything I had just taken in—how was it real? Walking calmly onto the stage there was no indication as to the level of ferocity and unbridled passion Colombia’s Muro would unleash and the more they would give the more the swirling mass gathered before them would give back. So here I am—stone cold sober wandering Kensington just absolutely bewildered as to what I just witnessed. One of the things I’ve always appreciated and loved about hardcore punk is its international nature. When I was younger I would send envelopes filled with hidden cash away to the far corners of the world in hopes of obtaining a seven inch piece of plastic that would sometimes show up, that would sometimes blossom into a pen pal that I’d consider a friend though I’d never dream of actually meeting them let alone having the sounds blasting out of my stereo speakers translate to a live experience. I know things have changed a bit but it still thrills me to have the manifestation of names to actual faces—of recordings turned to bodies piling on each other in a fit of sweat and spit. Colombia has a long tradition of ripping hardcore. From bands such as IRA, Imagen, Herpes, Ataque de Sonida, Anti-Todo, Polikarpa Y Sus Viciocas, and Eskoria to more current bands like Lupus, Final, Secta Suicida, and Primer Regimen the nation has a long tradition of producing rampaging blasts of punk fury which serves as a counterweight to the reality of unemployment and violence which has plagued the nation for so long. Hailing from Bogotá, Muro come out of the gates just blasting. Primitive, primal, raw hardcore comes pouring out of the speakers but this isn’t just all go, no slow. There is a certain consciousness to the need for hooks and melody and at times a certain angular nature to their song structures that really just sets them apart. At times, there is a certain vibe to their music that hints of the herky-jerky tension present in the finest Gauze or Wretched tracks—you think you know the journey riffs are taking you on but suddenly you are just shoved off a cliff of discomfort. It is this sense of unease present in the music when paired with vocalist’s snarling, rabid street dog attack against the world, which really pushes this over the top. Live, Muro is unstoppable—just totally relentless to the point of almost being surreal, hence me wandering aimlessly around Toronto trying to process having just seen the best live band of my life. They just wrapped up a tour of Canada and before that, Europe so here’s hoping that the USA is next—finger’s crossed. As a side note, while you are checking out Muro, be sure to look into Bogotá’s Rat Trap collective, a sort of artist group that does amazing design work and silk-screening and which also released 2017’s Fuerza Ingobernable compilation featuring some incredible hardcore bands from Colombia. All super worthwhile. https://www.noecho.net/features/muro-colombian-hardcore – but don’t just take our word for it – google the fuck out them and watch the many youtube clips and then come back for the vinyl, eh? Out of stockThe eponymous Murphy's Law debut is perhaps one of the most rocking New York punk releases to appear in the '80s. The manic tempos, masochistic vocals, and other hardcore signatures are toned down here to better suit the group's party message. Apolitical when compared to hard-line contemporaries like Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law shoots for an inebriated slice-of-life essence more aligned with Boston's Gang Green. The right-wing and skinhead references didn't exactly sit well with some '80s punk observers who mistakenly labeled the band as fascist. But even a casual study of "California Pipeline" and "Ilsa" reveals an allegiance contrary to the skinhead stereotype. Highlights include the Ace Frehley-inspired guitar work on Skinhead Rebel as well as the rockabilly "Wahoo Day" groove. A must-have for fans of the group and a strong recommendation for any '80s punk scholar, Murphy's Law is simply a fun ride. Label: BFD Records – BFD421 Barcode: 819376042121

This Is Your Bloody Valentine is the debut mini album by the Irish-English alternative rock band My Bloody Valentine, released in January 1985 on Tycoon Records. Recorded in West Berlin, Germany, it features the band's early gothic rock and post-punk sound, which contrasts the shoegazing sound with which My Bloody Valentine are associated. The band secured a contract with Tycoon Records after sending a demo tape they had recorded in their hometown—Dublin, Ireland— to a label associate. The demo tape included five songs, "Girl on the 13th Floor", "Halfwalk", "Last Tango in Paradise", "The Garden of Delight" and "Don't Cramp My Style", the latter of which was re-recorded for the album. The demo was recorded in guitarist Kevin Shields' parents' home in Killiney, South Dublin. Shields and drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig later overdubbed bass and drum tracks at Litton Lane Studios. Upon its release, the album made little impression and the band relocated to London, United Kingdom. Similarities between My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain had been suggested in the music press but guitarist Kevin Shields later told Melody Maker "we've got a mini-LP we made in Berlin in '84, pre-Mary Chain [...] with all our traits there—feedback thrash." AllMusic reviewer Stephen Thomas Erlewine has referred to the album as "an unfocused and derivative collection of post-punk goth rock". Label: Crass Valentine/Unofficial

Marla’s photos have been used on LPs by Minor Threat and Channel 3. Most of Marla’s work remained unseen until this book. Myteri 2022. What is there to say? Are there anything needed to be said? Doesn’t everybody know this act by now? This is their third release of dark crustpunk, yet melodic, just as it was meant to be. Deriving from Gothenburg. Recently played with Totalt jävla mörker and then Link from Belgium. Both to fit great onto the sound of Myteri. Ten songs of misery and despair! (Alerta Antifascista Records)

Out of stockHalloween has been and gone for another year, but darkwave-inflected hardcore punk never goes out of fashion, right? And frankly, who gives a solitary fuck if it does? Nag’s sinister second album is too busy being an ear-bleeding good time to care about shit like that. It’s too wrapped up asking questions like ‘is this real reality?’ - too caught up in pushing Bernard Sumner minimalism into furiously energetic bruisers and ever-darker corners. It’s the record you’ve been waiting for throughout 2021, whether you knew it or not. This RIPS. Formed in Atlanta, GA, Nag have already dropped an LP (last year’s ‘Dead Deer’, on Die Slaughterhaus) and a handful of 7”s - all must-haves - but they’ve never quite cut loose like this. Vocalist Brannon Greene pitches his delivery somewhere between a caustic holler and a dead-eyed sneer, taking the blank generation for a midnight drive and hurtling straight into a brick wall. Meanwhile, the band nab ideas from no-wave, the wilder ends of Goner Records’ almighty roster, and the best (and sometimes synthiest) aspects of gothed-out post-punk - the resulting concoction may be composed of familiar elements, but it feels like no one else other than Nag. A more hyperbolic and verbose hack than me might say this is the moment that signals the band have ‘arrived’, but not me. I’d just say this is a damn fine record - one of the very best things to have emerged from the wider punk rock mess in the last 12 months. Oh, and I’d add that if you don’t buy it, you may as well sever those things called ears, toss ‘em into the woods and let any of their redeeming qualities seep out into the soil, ‘cause that’s the only way you could continue to argue that they’re serving any useful purpose. But you know, that’s just me. You do you, friend. Actually, scratch that. (Drunken Sailor Records)

Naked Raygun release their first album since the 1990's! Chicago punk legends Naked Raygun – famously, the first live band Dave Grohl ever saw – are releasing their first studio album since the 1990's Raygun...Naked Raygun The album, Over The Overlords, is also the band's first release since the sad passing of bassist Pierre Kezdy. With an instrumental introduction, and a crescendo of intricate bass riffs and drum solos that lead into the energetic, in-your-face track, “Go the Spoils.” Combined with a catchy guitar riff and danceable drum beats, lead singer Jeff Pezzati’s voice is able to shine through the layering of vocals throughout the track, showing off his range and setting a standard for the rest of the album that leaves people eager for more. The next track, “Living in the Good Times,” which also happens to be the album’s lead single continues on the trend by providing a back-to-basics form of instrumentals that are simple but easy to get stuck in your head. 31 years is a long time in between album releases for a band; it is safe to say that with all that Naked Raygun has to offer with Over the Overlords, the wait was so worth it! Out of stockFrom its onset, the tube-crunch surf guitar intro of "Rat Patrol," Throb Throb sizzles like grease in a frying pan until it comes to a halt some 30 minutes later. Like the tank on its cover, Throb is largely informed by an antagonism that rails against the Reaganism that helped spawn intelligent '80s post-punk groups much like Naked Raygun. Titles like "Surf Combat," a song about the effects of napalm at popular beaches, "Gear," a braggadocio commentary about nuclear weapons and the arms race, and "Managua," in which troops march to their impending death, exemplify Throb's political mentality and musical gravity, which are a direct result of the '80s Cold War. Naked Raygun sends the songs up with a sense-raping frazzle and dissonance. While not as furious as Hüsker Dü or as angry as the Misfits, Throb is no less vehement, and ever the more working-class. With comprehensible lyrics everyone can understand and chant, and a plethora of race-against-time guitar melodies, Throb is rare in that it appeals to academics as well as rednecks, straight-shooters as well as in-the-know punks. Borrowing from the big-guitar sound of English heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and carving catchy melodies usually reserved for Top 40 pop songs into firebrands like "I Don't Know" and "Libido," Naked Raygun assures Throb's place as a classic that is forever ahead of its time, regardless of when it is heard. Re-issue of Chicago punk legends Naked Raygun's album 'Throb Throb' – famously, the first live band Dave Grohl ever saw - ON CLEAR VINYL! Label: Audio PLatter Barcode: 803341523845

Understand? is the fourth album by Chicago punk legends band Naked Raygun, released in 1989 through Caroline Records. After the visceral energy of their debut, 'Throb Throb', and the subtle refinement displayed on 'Jettison', the Chicago hardcore label rejecters did little to aid their claim with the brawny, scrappy 'Understand?' Packed with an onslaught of riffs, pummelling d-beat blasts and gang vocals galore, while rife with unkempt cynicism and aggression on the anthemic anti-social title-track or the snapshot of 'The Sniper Song,' Naked Raygun would only further cement their status as punk all timers on this seminal fourth record. Unreleased Garage Demo recording from teenage Orange County punk band The Nasty Pets. The Nasty Pets were a teenage punk band whose members were 12-13 years old; the band was only around 2 years, and in that amount of time, they played parties and managed to record this amazing slice or raw primal, fury fueled slice of adolescent punk rock. The band was inspired by the first wave of British punk bands like the Vibrators, Chelsea, The Clash and Pistols. Joey Kelly and Ron Ray would go onto Mad Parade and drummer Greg Welts would go onto play in Slipknot For Fans Of: Chelsea Vibrators The Clash The Sex Pistols The Boys Label: Puke N Vomit

Out of stockThe Nation of Ulysses was a violent separatist political party and terrorist group operating out of Washington, D.C. in the early 1990's. Though they've disappeared into obscurity, they've spawned countless milquetoast imitators who've tried to appropriate their looks, language, sound and presentation for the sake of career advancement. These cheap imitators can't comprehend that the Nation of Ulysses derived their awesome power from their unswerving commitment to secession and havoc wreaking, and not to the banal and unimportant pursuit of fame and wealth. The N.O.U. is probably the most important development to beset music since electrification, as they were the first to articulate intent through written manifestos and stage histrionics, refuting rock'n'roll's traditional policy of posturing rebelliously while aping parent culture values. Features Ian Svonious of Make Up, Chain and the Gang. Label: Dischord Records

Crust punk originates from the misty moors and factory cities of the UK. Since the '80s, countless bands have been established to play their dirty apocalyptic ruckus in the vein of Amebix, Antisect, and Axegrinder. At the same time, across the ocean, in the squats of New York’s Lower East Side, bassist John John Jesse founded Nausea. Svart Records is releasing Nausea’s two legendary EPs in 12” format for the first time ever, including the Cybergod 7” from 1991 - with a bonus track, "Here Today," from the same recording sessions - and the Lie Cycle 7” from 1992. All tracks are remastered from the original, untouched studio tapes by Jack Control (Darkthrone, Kohti Tuhoa, Fear). Tribal and rocking apocalyptic crust for apocalyptic times. The Cybergod lineup might be the most legendary era of Nausea, where the tracks reach almost epic proportions. The EP is pretty much the blueprint of crust, where Vic Venom’s hypnotic and rocking guitar riffs meet the tribal drumming of Roy Mayorga. Al’s and Amy’s dueling vocals spit out timeless issues dealing with consumerism and the hypocrisies of organized religions. Musically, the Lie Cycle EP rocks out more in the faster and straightforward style, where Discharge meets Motörhead, and lyrics reflect the times when war and nuclear destruction are still the plague of mankind. Nausea’s timeline lasted only seven years, but they managed to create a cult following with their true dedication to the punk scene and played shows in the squats of Europe and the eastern part of Europe. Their music is timeless, unpleasant music for unpleasant times, but hey! At least it’s more fun to rock out to the apocalypse! Black vinyl, insert. Label: Svart Records Barcode: 6430080235094

New York’s Neckscars are teaming up with Engineer and Sell The Heart Records to release their new album, 'Don't Panic' this summer. Formed in Downstate, New York in late 2018, Neckscars are Will Romeo (Vox/Guitar), Justin Parish (Guitar/Vox), Colin Harte (Bass), and Craig Sala (Drums). Over the past two decades the members have been cutting their teeth in the DIY scene and have gathered to form this expansive collaboration. Without any specific stylistic direction in mind, they were determined to write a diverse collection of songs which proved to be an enjoyable process. The result was a classic punk rock and roll sound that doesn’t lean too hard on nostalgia and standard formulas. You can hear them echo influences ranging from Seaweed to Dead Boys as they embrace their unbridled enthusiasm. In March of 2020, Neckscars entered Nada Studios in Montgomery, New York with Producer John Naclerio and Sean-Paul Pillsworth for their first full-length recording. Ripping through 8 songs in just three days, the session came to halt in response to the Covid-19 Global Pandemic. The band returned in the fall to tie up loose ends and bring another two songs to the table. Completed with a mastering by Jesse Cannon, Neckscars will be releasing their debut album Don’t Panic in the summer of 2021. These guys have put together a brilliant rocking album of songs that you really need to hear. Definitely one for fans of Hot Water Music, Iron Chic, Nothington, Menzingers, Tired Radio, Spanish Love Songs, Bear Away, Rydell, Hunter Gatherer, Small Brown Bike and the like. Label: Sell The Heart Records, Engineer Records
