Maybe your demands of punk are a little too high. Maybe they’re a little too exacting - you know what you want, but you don’t know how to get it. Maybe you’ve got an itch that’s needed scratching since you first heard ‘(I’m) Stranded’ (sounds like a doctor needs to look at that, mind). Maybe all or none of these things are true and you’re just in search of three or four chords and some righteous snot. Reader, you have come to the right place. Split System came sauntering out of Melbourne back in 2022 with a self-titled 7” and a debut LP (the sensibly-titled ‘Vol. I’), and as a listener of exquisite taste, one or both of those items will have carved out their own spaces within easy access of your record player. With members of acer-than-ace garage punkas Stiff Richards and Speed Week among their number, not to mention the redoubtable Jackson Reid Briggs, they deal in a gloriously back-to-basics take on punk that’s part Undertones, part Royal Headache and part Chris Bailey - all hooks and glory, all the time. They’re so much more than the sum of their parts and they make this shit sound effortless. Well, here’s an update for you: they’re back! Second album (the equally-sensibly-titled ‘Vol. II’) is now upon us, and a thoroughly tremendous follow-up it is too. As soon as opener ‘The Wheel’ slams into your speakers, it’s clear that they’ve lost none of the pep or power that made their debut such an essential listen; if anything they’re even more raucous and revved-up than before. Yep, that’s jargon for ‘they rule hard’, and let me add here that you could listen to this album 100 times in a row or simply try inserting dynamite sticks with lit fuses into your ear canal; either way, your poor little mind is gonna blow. It’s an album made entirely of bangers (still on that explosion metaphor, are we?) - the concise questioning of ‘End of the Night’ is as pure a punk rock nugget as you could ever wish to uncover, and ‘The Drain’ is just energy distilled to a perfect series of hooks - with a passion for rock’n’roll in its most scintillating form. Just listen to it. That’s all you need to do. Your demands have been met - here’s your new favourite record. Will Fitzpatrick Label: Drunken Sailor Records

Out of stockOfficial reissue of the band’s cult demotape 1984 originally titled “När varje steg är ett snedsteg” (literally translated “When every step is a misstep”)… for the first time on vinyl! 18 songs of intense, energy-driven Swedish hardcore, still sounding fresh and highly entertaining to this day. Formed in 1982 in the small Sundsvall area suburb called Timra, KRUNCH were taking the best elements of early ’80s Scandinavian raw punk and refining them into a powerful and instantly catchy blend all their own, combined with a sense of humor very much related to their area. If you’re wondering how we came up with the idea of reissuing this killer demo, it’s the result of a chat with Rich Walker (Sore Throat, Solstice) about what are the best demotapes from the 80s that are undiscovered classics and have not yet received a due vinyl edition… Completely remastered from the band’s archival tapes. Comes with a replica of the original cassette j-card as insert. Solid black vinyl limited to 250 copies Label: F.O.A.D.

INDIGESTI captured live in 1987 at the peak of their hardcore intensity! Their best soundboard recording and the greatest live album in the history of Italian HC. Originally released on CD nearly 30 years ago by Vacation House Recordings, now finally appearing for the first time on vinyl remastered from the band’s 1st generation tape, housed in a luxurious gatefold sleeve. Also includes a bonus 7″ with: “Slide behind your eyes” rare studio version (1987) and “Doppio confronto” live in Long Beach, CA (1986). But perhaps the most important feature that sets this release apart is having enclosed a massive 11″x11″ 64-page full-color BOOK titled “live through the 80s” – a stunning collection of tour photos, stagediving madness, flyers and memorabilia from the legendary furious years! The best visual document on INDIGESTI ever made to date, carefully assembled down to the smallest detail under the direct supervision of all the original band members, in a wonderful edition that justifies the slightly higher price than our average. Out of stockMonolith was the second full-length album by West County punk-metal ’80s anti-heroes, Amebix. One of the best crossover records the UK ever produced. Originally released in 1987, with second rate Giger-style sleeve-art, on a dodgy heavy metal label (called Dodgy Heavy Metal Records). The Power Remains was a posthumous collection of live and demo recordings, that was originally released in 1993 (and done in a much more appropriate and enthusiastic fashion) by MCR and Skuld Records. This band-released reissue combines both LPs, with lavish new gatefold sleeve artwork (competently created by Andy Lefton of War//Plague and Tau Cross). And these copies are “special record store day 2016 limited editions. Tracks A1 to B4 were originally released as the Monolith LP. Tracks C1 to D2 and D4 were originally released on The Power Remains LP. Track D3 is previously unreleased. Tracks A1 to B4 were recorded and mixed at Sam Studios Bristol in May / June 1987. Tracks C1 C2, and C3 are demo recordings. Recorded at Cabs Studios late 1987 in 10 hours. Track C1 is a demo recording. Recorded at O.O.C. Studios, Holland 1985. Tracks D1 to D4 recorded live in the Longrace Hall Bath September 1987. Label: Amebix Records Barcode: 5060174952470

This album features elements of two of the greatest revolutionary rock bands of all time. Wayne Kramer came to prominence as a teenager in 1967 as a co-founder of the Detroit rock group MC5, a group known for their powerful live performances and radical left-wing political stance. The Pink Fairies - on the other hand - are an English rock band initially active in the London underground and psychedelic scene of the early 1970s. They promoted free music, drug taking and anarchy and often performed impromptu gigs and other agitprop stunts, such as playing for free outside the gates at the Bath and Isle of Wight pop festivals in 1970, as well as appearing at Phun City, the first Glastonbury and many other free festivals including Windsor and Trentishoe. When two such masters of sonic revolution meet up, sparks are sure to fly as you will hear on this extraordinary record! Label: Audio Platter Barcode: 803341524125

Out of stockA welcome re-issue of Government Issue's sixth studio album 'You'. Originally released in 1987 on Giant Records and hot off the heels of the previous year's self-titled album, 'You' was a turning point that saw the band moving in a more mature, melodic direction. Now, some 35 years later, 'You' is considered one of the scene's best albums - a game-changer that paved the way for a style that many bands would copy in subsequent years. "G.I. headed into more melodic territory on its 1986 self-titled album, but You bears the undeniable influence of new bassist J. Robbins (later of Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels) and drummer Peter Moffett (later of Wool and Burning Airlines). The duo's melodic sensibilities and playing chops greatly improved the group's overall sound, and G.I. came together in a way that made its final lineup—after many incarnations—its best by far. You also shows an ambition its predecessors lacked: "Young Love" has an elaborate coda with backward guitar-playing, and "Wishing" somehow pulls off incorporating electric sitar. You's overall cohesion and stylistic complexity is more advanced than G.I. generally gets credited for." - Kyle Ryan, AV Club Label: Audioplatter Ltd. Barcode: 803341523982

Channel 3, aka CH3, was formed in 1980 in suburban Cerritos, about 20 miles southeast of Los Angeles, with frontman Mike Magrann, guitarist Kimm Gardener, bassist Larry Kelly and drummer Mike Burton. Signing to Posh Boy in 1981, their eponymous EP had the hit ‘Manzanar,’ which was championed by John Peel on the BBC. Posh Boy founder Robbie Fields was in the producer’s chair for their excellent debut, Fear of Life, a blistering punk assault on American values. Free from the heavy metal leanings of their later work, this no-holds-barred debut is a must for all fans of So-Cal hardcore. Label: Silver Saucer Barcode: 0855971005598

Out of stockPunk rock band from California, active between 1985 and 1989. Completely undiscovered, the band existed for almost 4 years recording tons of songs of which No Plan Records unearthed 17. They played with a lot of Bay Area contemporaries like Operation Ivy, Crimpshrine, Isocracy, Mr. Bungle, Blatz, Brent's TV, Nuisance, while their sound on the other hand reminisces early Californian bands like Avengers or X. Fantastic female fronted melodic punk rock. Label: No Plane Records

In January 1983, Minor Threat went into Inner Ear Studio for the first time as a five-piece (Brian Baker had moved from bass to second guitar and Steve Hansgen was now playing bass). They had six new songs that would end up being the center piece of what became the Out of Step 12" EP. The band had also decided to re-record the song "Out of Step" with some extra language to try to clarify the lyrics, as well as "Cashing In", a tongue-in-cheek song about the DC punk scene which they had only played live once. After much debate, "Cashing In" was added as a hidden track on the original vinyl release though not listed on the cover or label. There was still blank tape on the reel, so they decided to record an instrumental with the working title, "Addams Family" and then recorded new versions of "In My Eyes" and "Filler" to hear what they sounded like with two guitars. "Addams Family" ended up being used as a coda to "Cashing In", but the other two songs were never mixed and largely forgotten for over 35 years until the multitrack tapes were taken into the studio to be digitized in 2021. Surprised by the discovery, Ian and Don Zientara mixed the two songs along with the complete take of "Addams Family". These outtakes are now being released on a 7" to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Out of Step. Label: Dischord Records Barcode: 643859195079
