Their first and "lost" studio album from 1988 year. First time on vinyl. Cold wave/post punk with a little bit Swans influence. 1984 is a legend of Polish new wave / cold wave / punk rock scene. In the 1980s the band used its biting, punk-style irony to depict the totalitarian reality of Polish People’s Republic in its final years, and it was an excellent example of the strength inherent in Polish punk rock / new wave of those times. Besides, if I may put a personal note here – they were one of the most important features in the soundtrack for my punk childhood. Towards the end of the 1980s they seemingly gave up their political image for a more iconoclastic or artistic vision. In a more or less active way, the band has continued for all these years. Throughout the 1980s, despite the numerous recording sessions they managed to release only one 7” and one song on a compilation. It wasn’t until 25 years later that some of the band’s archival sessions saw the light of day, including their demo entitled Why not? The heathens of Cruciamentum assembled in 2009 with the intent of evoking the most abyssal of death metal violence, drawing on influences from dISEMBOWELMENT, Incantation, Immolation, Demigod, Rottrevore, etc. but moulding these influences into something uniquely their own. The ‘Convocation of Crawling Chaos’ demo was hewn from the purest veins of sulphurous death; three tracks demonstrating a focused and merciless intent. The demo was released in a number of pressings, attracting the attention of various labels, before a deal was struck with Nuclear Winter Records for a reissue, with new artwork from Alex Brown reflecting the swirling gates to the spheres of absurdity. Three years have passed since the last Hysterese record, and these last years brought change to the band. All grew older, some got babies and some went their different paths. So 2021 is a bit of a new era for Hysterese, personally and music-wise – with a new bass player, a new method of songwriting and more diverse influences which are reflected in slightly new song vibes. The last self-titled album already showed a glimpse of what might possibly happen while composing new material. Moritz and Helen split the composing and added a more morbid style – it got darker, and shows a bit more of a mature or adult approach to write intelligent, powerful songs. Hysterese’s trademark, the twin lead vocals of Helen and Moritz loses its weight as Helen takes more and more the role of the lead singer. They have less stakkato riffing and more open, atmospheric guitar work filled with superb guitar-melodies. Kai’s precise, machine-like drumming, and Jana’s flawless basswork do the final tricks – one can explore more than a „one, two, three, four” – punk rock album. Overall the seed they planted on their third record became a strong unique plant with ripe fruits which taste like darkness, melancholy, strength, anger, rage and fury. They created some sparkling düster-müster-popunk-diamonds, which are not afraid to take some detours through genres like alternative-rock or post punk. If you dig the darkness of The Wipers, the explosiveness of old Descendents records and the hits and melodies of your fav Blondie or Billy Idol songs, I’m sure you will dig this piece of rock music. Adventurous southern California punk trio Agent Orange was the first band to mix surf rock with punk. The group was formed in1l979 in Placentia, a small town close to Fullerton and Anaheim, by frontman Mike Palm on guitar and lead vocals, Steve Soto on bass and Scott Miller on drums. That early line up recorded the classic version of "Bloodstains" in 1979 as a demo produced by Daniel R. van Patten (of the group Berlin). A year later it was included on the seminal Rodney On The Roq compilation album released by Posh Boy Records. Meanwhile James Levesque had replaced Steve Soto (Adolescents) and the new line up released their own self produced and self released 7" ep in 1980. A year later, the group signed with Robbie Fields' Posh Boy Records for their debut LP Living In Darkness, co-produced by Fields and former Simpletones guitarist Jay Lansford. The album was recorded at Brian Elliott’s store front studio in North Hollywood (a few years before Elliott struck gold writing Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach”).
