• Formed in 1981 in Boston, MA Jerry's Kids started out with SS Decontrol, Gang Green, FUs, Freeze and Negative FX when the Boston Hardcore scene became the spotlight of American music. In 1982 a sampler of Boston bands was issued called This is Boston, Not LA. The three bands that dominated this sampler were Gang Green, The Freeze and Jerry's Kids all with more than five songs a piece. Jerry's Kids music was heard worldwide and shortly after a follow up-comp was issued with the band's song, "Unsafe at Any Speed." 1983 saw the release of Is This My World?, Jerry's Kids debut on X-Claim Records. From the buzz of This is Boston, Not LA, Jerry's Kids LP sold 3,000 records with no promotion. Then with X-Claim out of the picture, the record went out of print. At this point, Taang! released the record on its German label, Funhouse. One of the best and most important records in hc/punk history. MUST HAVE. Second (and final) album of Boston's hardcore semi-legend JERRY'S KIDS! The hardcore/thrash metallists formed originally in 1981, rising out of a local scene that included such bands as Freeze, Negative FX and Gang Green (the latter of which would often swap members with Jerry's Kids off and on). Jerry's Kids caught their first break in 1982, when they were featured on a compilation of local talent (This Is Boston, Not L.A.), which created a buzz for the band beyond just Boston. Debut album Is This My World was first released in 1983 by X-Claim Records and later reissued by Taang! Six years later saw the release of this second and final release before splitting up. It remains a classic Boston hardcore record. Although there were plenty of switches in the Jerry's Kids lineup, the best-known included members Rick Jones on vocals and bass, Rockin' Bob Cenci on lead guitar, Dave Aronson on rhythm guitar, and Jack Clark on drums. • "Bootleg of a Bootleg" - contains the Judge - Chung King Can Suck It which was originally bootleged on Judge - Revelation Can Suck It LP. Includes 1-sided lyric sheet. 150 copies pressed. Judge had gone into Chung King with only one three-day weekend of studio time block-booked in order to record their first album, since band members John Porcelly and Sammy Siegler were set to tour with their main band Youth Of Today in Europe later that month. The studio was home to many of the popular (and now legendary) rap acts of the day, including the Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and LL Cool J; Youth Of Today had recorded their third album We're Not In This Alone at the same studio earlier in the year, so Porcelly and Siegler were already familiar with the place. According to a 2005 interview with Judge guitarist Porcell in AMP, all three of those acts had already been using three of the four separate facilities in the studio complex, leaving Judge with what was at the time the least technologically advanced of the four rooms. To complicate matters, the recording engineer the band had been assigned by the studio was a full-blown cocaine addict - an irony given Judge's militant anti-drug lyrics and moral code. During the second day of the sessions, the engineer on duty failed to show up for work, forcing the band to work with another studio staff engineer totally unaccustomed to recording punk rock music. After the sessions were completed, Porcell and Siegler listened to the finished mixes while on the Youth of Today European tour and came to the conclusion that while the performances were good, the recordings were not up to the standards of what they had done in the past with Youth of Today. The drum tracks in particular do not have the punch typical of other Revelation releases at the time, and the overall mix is considered to be thin. A phone call to lead singer Mike "Judge" Ferarro confirmed that he too was unhappy with the finished album, and the group chose to shelve the session and start over in a different studio. Unfortunately for Revelation, label owner Jordan Cooper had already paid for the mastering of the record and the plating of the vinyl stampers - a point in the manufacture of record too late to fully prevent the release of an album, especially for Revelation Records, which was then still a small independent label that Cooper was running out of his home. With advance orders already coming in for the as-yet unreleased album, Revelation decided to press a limited run of 100 white-vinyl copies of the album, assigning it catalog number REV:-1 (negative one), and sending these copies to tide over fans who had advance ordered Bringin' It Down. As is customary the record pressing plant produced a 10% overrun of the album and as a result 110 copies were delivered. Each copy has its number stamped on the bottom corner of the back of the sleeve however the printing on the jacket notes a pressing run of 100 so with the additional 10, those extra sleeves had the "100" altered to say "110". This record has been much sought after by collectors ever since. Judge then scheduled time at Normandy Studios in Rhode Island - the same studio where The Cro-Mags recorded their second album Best Wishes in 1988 - to record a proper version of their first album, Bringin' It Down. The two albums are similar in track listing for the first eight songs; Chung King... features two songs, "Holding On" and "No Apologies", that were not rerecorded for Bringin' It Down; "Where It Went", written after the Chung King... sessions, takes their place. The Chung King Can Suck It album remained a rarity (in spite of two different bootleg editions of the album), and was sought after both for its collectibility and the two rare Judge songs it contained, until 2005, when Revelation compiled all of Judge's recorded output - Chung King Can Suck It included - for the CD What It Meant: The Complete Discography. In May 2015 a copy became the most expensive sale on Discogs.com, fetching $6,048, a record that stood for a year until David Bowie's second album, David Bowie, sold for $6,826. Sorry State is excited to bring you a repress of one of the best hardcore records ever, Koro's 1983 7" EP. Originally released in a small, self-released pressing, over the decades this monster's reputation has continued to grow, and collectors now have to fork over well over a grand for an original pressing. This one is too good for the scum to keep to themselves, though, a hyper-compact explosion of energy that can hold its own next to any landmark early 80s hardcore punk record you want to compare it to. A hardcore masterpiece and a 10 Top American slab of 7" perfection. Right up there with Fix's Vengeance, Pick Your King, Negative Approach's debut, Nervous Breakdown. An absolute all-time scorcher. Sorry State's 2023 pressing aims to replicate the original look and feel of the original as closely as possible, with an offset-printed sleeve on legal size paper. It's as close as you can get to the original without missing a mortgage payment. Label: Sorry State

  • As one of the greatest Japanese hardcore bands ever, Kuro has long been a favorite for those who want their hardcore laden with an extreme edge; for the time their sound was wildly chaotic, raw, distorted, and violently thrashed, ranking right beside fellow heavyweights GISM and CONFUSE when it comes to timeless Japanese hardcore of the early to mid-'80s. • Finally a European version of the long overdue LOS CRUDOS Discography collection. LOS CRUDOS, formed in Chicago's Pilsen neighbourhood in the early 90's, are a Latino punk band with a strong socio-political message and an extremely militant DIY attitude. During their first incarnation, spanning the years 1991 to 1998 the band self-released their own records, printed their own merch, booked their own shows and toured relentlessly around the world. From South America to Japan including a 3 month European tour in the winter of 1996. They spoke to the freaks the outsiders and the minorities and were not afraid of confronting the white middle class punk who reigned supreme during the terrible 90's. A time which will not be remembered for their hardcore output except for a few exceptions, in which CRUDOS are surely included. Their sound, far from being a copycat of whatever flavour of the month was reigning at the time was heavy rooted in the golden years of European and Latino American ferocious hardcore punk. With bands as IMPACT, WRETCHED, OLHO SECO, TERVEET KADET or MASACRE 68 as obvious influences in a time when the simple mention of any of those bands (or any non English speaking bands really) was usually met with a laugh or a joke. They sang in Spanish, with aggression and conviction and that made their message spread out widely, reaching thousands of Spanish speaking punks both in Latino America and Spain as well as inside USA where third generation Latino kids surely were missing a voice within the punk scene. The band split up in 1998 after a really intense year of touring and reformed in 2008. The band will be undertaking their first ever Scandinavian tour in July/ Agust 2016. This collection, originally released as a benefit for MRR magazine last year, includes all the LOS CRUDOS output plus compilation tracks as well as a couple demo tracks and an unreleased song. The European version comes in a gatefold sleeve and brings a 40 page booklet with flyers and the lyrics of all songs. Label: La Vida Es Un Mus Records

Recorded at inner ear studios, arlington, virginia between april 1981 and december 1983. the washington, d.c. straightedge hardcore punk scene began with minor threat. the band recorded two lps on its own dischord label, plus an ep and the miscellaneous singles that are collected on this cd. many of the early recordings on this collection seethe with teen-age angst and indignation. the songs rage against bullies, religious hypocrisy, and the herd mentality. other songs, taken from later in minor threat's career, feature tighter and more sophisticated playing. metallic flourishes tinge the guitar work, vocal harmonies abound, and song dynamics vary more than on the earlier record. on certain songs, ian mackaye's lyrics address the complexities of friendship, loyalty, and self-expression. 'look back and laugh,' 'little friend,' and 'it follows' all incline more toward introspection and ambiguity; conveying loss and sadness in addition to outrage. this second set of songs seems to especially anticipate mackaye's later work with fugazi. the album also contains a few playful numbers like the sing-along cover of 'stepping stone,' and 'cashing in,' a mocking dig at greedy musicians. minor threat believed completely in the power of its music, helping earn a loyal fan following and the respect of numerous other bands who emulated its style and credo. • Here Minor Threat get one of their most defiant and raucous live performances re-released on a proper LP, after only four tracks from the show were originally released on 'bootleg' wax, by the band themselves. Here Suicidal Records give all 16 bits from the half-hour show at NYC's Irving Plaza a new run for their money - of course, we'd expect such a curt punk band could fit that many songs into such a short space of time. Raw, airy, and to the point, classics 'Straight Edge' and 'Bottled Violence' make an appearance, but barely get a couple of minutes to their name each. The live versions of 'Little Friend' and 'Stepping Stone' are more developed, but sound yet no less hard hitting. From DC to NY, the OG punk abstainers' brand of detox punk shines best here. Tracklist Side 1 1. "Straight Edge" 2. "Seeing Red" 3. "Little Friend" 4. "Filler" 5. "Small Man Big Mouth" 6. "No Reason" 7. "Minor Threat" 8. "Stand Up" Side 2 1. "12XU" 2. "Bottled Violence" 3. • In January 1983, Minor Threat went into Inner Ear Studio for the first time as a five-piece (Brian Baker had moved from bass to second guitar and Steve Hansgen was now playing bass). They had six new songs that would end up being the center piece of what became the Out of Step 12" EP. The band had also decided to re-record the song "Out of Step" with some extra language to try to clarify the lyrics, as well as "Cashing In", a tongue-in-cheek song about the DC punk scene which they had only played live once. After much debate, "Cashing In" was added as a hidden track on the original vinyl release though not listed on the cover or label. There was still blank tape on the reel, so they decided to record an instrumental with the working title, "Addams Family" and then recorded new versions of "In My Eyes" and "Filler" to hear what they sounded like with two guitars. "Addams Family" ended up being used as a coda to "Cashing In", but the other two songs were never mixed and largely forgotten for over 35 years until the multitrack tapes were taken into the studio to be digitized in 2021. Surprised by the discovery, Ian and Don Zientara mixed the two songs along with the complete take of "Addams Family". These outtakes are now being released on a 7" to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Out of Step. Label: Dischord Records Barcode: 643859195079

The late eighties were an exciting time to get caught up in the hardcore scene. While many of the early eighties pioneers of the music had moved along, the scene went through something of a renaissance with a new crop of energetic kids who had seized the power of the music and molded it into something that was relevant to the style of their times. Leading the pack in this regeneration was Revelation Records, who released a clutch of seven-inch singles and albums by bands like SICK OF IT ALL, GORILLA BISCUITS, BOLD, JUDGE and CHAIN OF STRENGTH that defined where the scene was at that time. Somewhere in central New Jersey, a group of kids attending Ewing High School were spinning these records incessantly while attending many of these bands? live shows. The combination set their minds ablaze with inspiration and so they started MOUTHPIECE in January of 1990. In between getting their band from the basement to the clubs, an abrupt change happened within the hardcore scene. Most of the bands MOUTHPIECE wanted to share the stage with had suddenly broken up or changed paths. With no concern for the changes in sound and style going on around them, they went along with their original agenda and unconsciously became the band to lead straight edge hardcore into the nineties until their demise in 1996. Can't Kill What's Inside: The Complete Discography contains the band's entire recorded output. The packaging contains photos of the band as well as a complete listing of every show the band has ever played in their existence. The entire product is both a labor of love as well as a sight to see and proves that what remains is certainly more than words. New pressing now available on coke bottle clear vinyl. The eponymous Murphy's Law debut is perhaps one of the most rocking New York punk releases to appear in the '80s. The manic tempos, masochistic vocals, and other hardcore signatures are toned down here to better suit the group's party message. Apolitical when compared to hard-line contemporaries like Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law shoots for an inebriated slice-of-life essence more aligned with Boston's Gang Green. The right-wing and skinhead references didn't exactly sit well with some '80s punk observers who mistakenly labeled the band as fascist. But even a casual study of "California Pipeline" and "Ilsa" reveals an allegiance contrary to the skinhead stereotype. Highlights include the Ace Frehley-inspired guitar work on Skinhead Rebel as well as the rockabilly "Wahoo Day" groove. A must-have for fans of the group and a strong recommendation for any '80s punk scholar, Murphy's Law is simply a fun ride. Label: BFD Records – BFD421 Barcode: 819376042121

Since the '80s, countless bands have been established to play their dirty apocalyptic ruckus in the vein of Amebix, Antisect, and Axegrinder. At the same time, across the ocean, in the squats of New York’s Lower East Side, bassist John John Jesse founded Nausea. Svart Records is releasing Nausea’s two legendary EPs in 12” format for the first time ever, including the Cybergod 7” from 1991 - with a bonus track, "Here Today," from the same recording sessions - and the Lie Cycle 7” from 1992. All tracks are remastered from the original, untouched studio tapes by Jack Control (Darkthrone, Kohti Tuhoa, Fear). Tribal and rocking apocalyptic crust for apocalyptic times. The Cybergod lineup might be the most legendary era of Nausea, where the tracks reach almost epic proportions. The EP is pretty much the blueprint of crust, where Vic Venom’s hypnotic and rocking guitar riffs meet the tribal drumming of Roy Mayorga. Al’s and Amy’s dueling vocals spit out timeless issues dealing with consumerism and the hypocrisies of organized religions. Musically, the Lie Cycle EP rocks out more in the faster and straightforward style, where Discharge meets Motörhead, and lyrics reflect the times when war and nuclear destruction are still the plague of mankind. Nausea’s timeline lasted only seven years, but they managed to create a cult following with their true dedication to the punk scene and played shows in the squats of Europe and the eastern part of Europe. Their music is timeless, unpleasant music for unpleasant times, but hey! At least it’s more fun to rock out to the apocalypse! Black vinyl, insert. Label: Svart Records Barcode: 6430080235094

Official reissue this Canadian hardcore classic, originally released in 1986. Negative Gain was founded in Toronto, Ontario by Peter Warner who wrote all of the lyrics and provided rehearsal space in his basement. Filling out the lineup was Grant C. Slavin on guitar, Steve Currie on bass, and Andrew Mosely on drums. All members were in their mid-teens at the time. Their influences included Minor Threat, Millions of Dead Cops, the Misfits, and the Dead Kennedys, as well as local TO bands Direct Action and Sudden Impact. Negative Gain got their first break in '83 when we were asked by local Toronto promoter Jill Heath to open for Jodie Fosters Army at the city's legendary punk club The Turning Point. After the show Pete and Grant went skateboarding with JFA. The evening was documented in a subsequent issue of Thrasher as JFA's guitarist Don Pendelton was writing a column for the rag documenting their tour. Other memorable Negative Gain gigs around this time include warming up for bands like the Circle Jerks, Gang Green, the Descendents and 7 Seconds. The young thrash band soon went from listening to their favorite bands' records on a daily basis to hanging out with them backstage and stealing their beer rider! More help from Jill Heath came when the promoter sent Negative Gain's 1985 demo tape, Attack of the Killer Bears, to Pushead for review. Pushead evidently like the tape so much that he offered to release a full-length LP for the band. Negative Gain recorded their album in Oakville, Ontario in about five hours on a Saturday afternoon, as studio time was limited to what the young band could afford to spend on the recording. The session was produced by Brian Taylor of the Toronto band Youth Youth Youth. Sadly, Pete Warner committed suicide not too long after the recording was completed, and never lived to see its release. His last gig with the band was with Toronto's Bunchofuckingoofs. Negative Gain continued on as a three-piece for about two more years, before splitting in the late 1980s. First time on the digital format - with their full early demo as bonus! • Black vinyl! Official re-release! Split release between La Familia Releases and Farewell Records! Housed in a 350 gram cover and contains a sheet with japanese lyrics and English translations! First release 1990 on legendary Selfish Records! When it comes to japanese hardcore, it seems that a lot of people are obsessed with ADK or Dogma Records. Solid labels of course, but when I think to the label that defines japanese classic hardcore sound, I only have one name in my mind: the legendary Selfish Records. This label has released over the years so many classics by even more classic bands such as Death Side, Gauze, Outo, Systematic Death, Lip Cream and many others. Not to mention all their classic compilation LPs. Such a great label! Along with Gauze & Warhead, Nightmare is one of the few classic japanese bands that never broke up and it's still going strong after all these years. But when it comes to their records, 1990's "Give Notice Of Nightmare" LP is their highlight moment. Perfect sound, incredible songwriting. I can't find anything to complain about 'coz there's nothing wrong here. Classic metallic japanese hardcore/punk in one of its finest moments. Highly recommended! ( La Familia Releases / Farewell Records)
  • The OFFENDERS were formed in 1978 in Killeen, and after relocating to Austin in 1980, became known worldwide as one of the premiere hardcore bands out of the Lone Star state. Raw and rabid but more than proficient in the delivery of their musical rebellion -- alongside friends and scenemates D.R.I. and M.D.C. -- OFFENDERS completely ruled the hardcore scene throughout the infamous Reagan-era. Southern Lord is honored to present all the band's official recordings harnessed in a weighty 2xLP collection, with the audio fully boosted for this release courtesy of Audiosiege. Reissue features the band's two full-length albums -- Endless Struggle and We Must Rebel, as well as the I Hate Myself / Bad Times 7" -- fitted to two 180-gram slabs of black wax, housed in a gatefold jacket with the original covers and inserts faithfully replicated. • Formed in 1978 in the smalltown of Peacehaven by Del Strangefish and Pete Bywaters, Peter & The Test Tube Babies have been one of the most representative and longest running UK OI! bands ever. Unlike most bands of this ilk, their line-up remained pretty stable through the years, mostly thanks to Peter and Del never giving up the ghost. This unique collection gathers together the A and B sides from the Test Tubes early, most successful years starting with their 1982 debut single on the legendary No Future label, up to their later hits on Jungle and Trapper Records ending 1985. This essential collection provides a close look at the band's peak, and includes the UK Indie Chart hits "Banned From The Pubs" (#10), "Run Like Hell" (#2), "Zombie Creeping Flesh" (#2), "Blown Out Again" (#40), "Wimpeez" (#8) and "Keys Of The City" (#14).
